Its combat is friction-free but no less stress-inducing thanks to its ferocious cast of creatures, its story rapidly shuttles through a series of action scenes that are diverse in structure but uniformly unwavering in intensity, and its world is rich in detail and full of fun and often snarling surprises. Its improvements over the original are too numerous to list, from simple quality of life changes to completely overhauled boss fight mechanics, and with the exception of the disappointingly diminished personality of the merchant, the team at Capcom has barely put a foot wrong. Whaddaya buying? Only the most relentlessly exciting Resident Evil adventure of all time that’s been rebuilt, refined, and realised to the full limits of its enormous potential. @@ompatel5570 remake and remaster are different things bucko. Remake , like the resident evil remakes and dead space remake have different gameplay elements and have been made from the ground up. They are actually great examples of what a remake should be . Remaster is like the same game just updating the graphics. Think last of us on ps3 and the remaster for the ps4

Knew it was a 10 before even watching. RE4 never disappoints. Timeless classic and this is the new age version of it!
But this is Capcom, you never know. They could cut content like in RE2 and 3 Remakes

Crazy to think this series has been going so strong for more than 25 years. Well deserved to say the least.
It kinda died out for a bit after 6 and took a break but 7 btriught the hype back and then they doubled down with sick remakes!

I've seen a lot of positive reviews that were full of ratings of 9 and 10 for this game. I'm so happy that the remake is doing so well, I'm looking forward to playing it!

Capcom knows to listen to their audience. We know, we play. Seeing them listen and keep this game amazing for the next generation is... simply awesome. Now many more can enjoy what we all loved 18 years ago. And it holds up... That's rare ... That's Capcom.

Playing this felt just like playing the original for the first time way back on the PS2. Capcom really outdid themselves here. They nailed it.
Hearing that Ashley no longer requires health items when injured instantly made a 10/10 game for me.

My all time favorite game! Must have beaten the original over 50 times by now and heres to beating this awesome remake another 50! Great job Capcom 👏

Refined the genre and paved a new way for the third person action games and now it's great to see the RE4 remake take it to another level by making intricate touches to a classic with the end result being perfection.
And reDEFINED the genre
The RE engine is a beast can’t wait for this and street fighter 6 in few months!!
Yes the RE Engine is so capable and flexible in terms of optimisations aswel! Hope Capcom let the mod community have a go at it sooner or later

Not being immobilized to shoot in the VR version is single-handedly the best improvement. Being able to run and gun is paramount!

Just picked it up today on Black Friday for $30 and wow this game is amazing. It reminds me of the old school days on the GameCube but 100 times better. I'm taking my time on this masterpiece.

Just finished the VR version of RE4 and was absolutely blown away by it. Can't wait to play the remake, glad to hear its phenomenal. Capcom have been on a roll ever since RE7 dropped, they've had the video game comeback of the century after their pretty bad 360/PS3 days.
The remake on ps5 is getting psvr2 support. It will be a stunning experience. If you havent played the vr version of resident evil 8 on psvr2 dont pass up on it. It's a stunning experience.

Phenomenal review quality. And super exciting that they took one of my favourite games and made a remake that delivered the mail.
It’s been a very long time since I’ve been this excited for a release. Capcom really brought out the big guns for RE4 and learned their lessons from 3. One week to go!
It also seems this was the core team that did the remake for 2.

What a time to be alive! First the Dead Space remake that was amazing and then his older cousin Re4 gets this fantastic remake, eventhough they are Remakes the look and feel brand new, thanks to the devs and their love for their craft and their experience!

Resident Evil 4 was my favorite game from the GC/PS2/Xbox era, and it's my all time favorite VR game. It's been repackaged a ridiculous amount of times over the last 18 years and it's still absolutely essential.
So excited to play this again , loved the original 15 years ago and just played the demo for the remake and it still had me scared shitless 10/10 game for sure

Pffft, first time I've ever heard IGN (or anyone, really) say the original RE4 hasn't aged well.
Re4 remake is way better than the original. It explains the story better. Original felt rushed. but original RE4 is a must for PS2 collection though because even though rushed, it has fun gameplay that made it great.
All them years. A masterpiece back than, a masterpiece now. I'm ready to feel like a kid at my neighbors hose coming to contact with Resident Evil for the first time again. As our dear friend merchant used to say: "come back anytime"

Had the metal cased resident evil 4 ps2 game, this was a masterpiece that was replayed multiple times, playing the remake now and will be played multiple times.
For anyone on the fence about getting this game, especially if they have never played it before. Get it. You won't regret it. It's so fun!

If you can wait for the vr version. It will be mind blowing on psvr2. Being in the world. Everything at life size scale and full 3d will be breath taking.

This game and Metroid Prime remastered are examples of great games will be great no matter when they are released.
I'd say the difference is Prime has no gameplay changes, whereas this has been overhauled significantly. The Dead Space remake is much closer to its original than this is.
Do you keep all your gear once you complete the game like in the original? One of my fave parts was carving up the first levels with all my later game gear haha

RE4 and Dead Space remakes are the two best remakes I've ever played.
Pre ordered the collectors edition & booked the day off work for a long weekend of nothing but RE4. So damn hyped as this is my first playthrough and experience playing it. Never got round to playing the original. Been playing resident evil since the 90s. Been a fan ever since.

The demo alone goes into my top ten games of the year. The full game was a no brainer. A true masterpiece.
The world they created and the intense horror of it all was like nothing else at the time. This new version looks great, and the demo shows it's fluid and feels modern.
A memorable game, that while nostalgic, is showing that some ideas (with a tweak) can stand the test of time.
Yeah a great sweet spot between faithfulness and making it more modern compared to how they handled the remake of 3
I'm guessing the game still has the easy, standard, and hard difficulty settings? we only got to check out standard and mad chainsaw mode in the demo. and does this have any cool unlockables like buying infinite ammo or other cool guns that seems to be a series standard at this point?
Can we just appreciate that no new gameplay was shown. Capcom really wants this remake to be special and surprise for new comers and returning fans.
