Idk but I need to see more of this
I wanna see man thing in Agatha coven of chaos!
Don't you guys realize who the hunter with the beard is???? Here is a hint Star Wars, Labyrinth.
also I do believe Man-Thing has never been beaten by the Hulk
I want more Elsa Bloodstone!
I didn't want this to end. Giacchino created a piece of art with this one.
Perfect way to describe it.
Agreed!
I genuinely wish this was the first episode to a show I was so invested and want nothing more now then for them to continue this story
Same
I loved he had a fighting style, instead of just animal instinct. I also appreciate the fact he had to smell Elsa, to retain his memory of her.
The fact that this was directed by a first-time director is super impressive. You would never have known considering how well-made it was.
Marvel directors are just puppets. A clear example are The Russos, their movies within the MCU are good but outside, forgettable or meh.
@@gabrielalexander3069 you watch community or arrested development?
this isn't his directorial debut, he actually directed a star trek short 3 years ago that was also very well received.
@@gabrielalexander3069 directors aren't the entire production team. tf are you on about.
@@gabrielalexander3069 Admittedly their early films are bad, but they came into their own with their TV shows. Give credit where it's due.
Ted and Jack need more screen time I love them so much
Exactly 👍 I'm slightly disappointed with the runtime
I don't think we've seen the last of these characters. This was just a tease of what's to come I believe 🔥🔥
Yeah, Elsa too. Love all of them.
I reckon Ted and Jack will end up fighting moon knight or some shit
@@TheSeledoonArmy Elsa would be the solution then boom big piece of midnight sons
I loved Jack, I think he's fantastic. He willingly put himself in the lion's den to rescue his friend, struck up a pleasant friendship with Elsa despite knowing she could kill him & did his best to keep his bargain with her. When his secret was revealed, he was honest with Elsa about who he was & having methods to keep himself from killing others. He took steps to stop himself from hurting Elsa in a very short & tense amount of time & was overall a really sweet guy. Honestly would want to be friends with him if I inhabited the MCU.
Him and Steven need to meet lol
We need a sequel
Agree. I would rather hang with them than Captain Marvel (Carol) in What if. Also, I don't mind rewatching this mini film.
That shot where you can only see the werewolf by his glowing eyes, that was genius
Best shot in the special. The slow focus pulling. The details on the Wolfman flickering in the stun stick electricity from out of frame. The music. It made classic monster horror modern and it looked amazing.
Michael Giacchino absolutely NAILED IT! I sincerely hope we see more from him in the directors seat.
I hope he does a Midnight Sons movie or series
When watching this I got a sense the old school films were a catalyst in getting him into music.
Hopefully he’s the new director for blade
@@Blazecap oh I would love that
@@ChamarMI want Legion of Monsters with elsa bloodstone, jack russell werewolf by night and ted sallis manthing
"Werewolf By Night" is Michael Giacchino's directorial debut and damn... I want to see more things from him in a visual media. He's proven to be damn great at composing and directing music for films and it seems that skill set can translate well in directing live action films.
Actually he directed a short film and an episode of Short Trek’s before this
Man is bound to be a top contender for the Blade director, at least for fans
he should go for blade movie
I hope they let him do Blade, let him be in charge of the supernatural side like Disney wanted James Gunn to he for the space side
@@mrcritical6751 Yeah, he's my dream director for Blade now. After that he should definitely do Midnight Suns, as he would've directed 3 of those characters already by that point (WBN, Elsa and Blade). His ability to just create this setting is amazing
This special was amazing, Definitely one of my favorite MCU project in Phase 4
Me to
It was kinda boring, is this even canon to the MCU?
@@beyhivenoah guess your whole brain is full of unfunny jokes and colourful sh8s
Kiddo!
@@beyhivenoah of course there's always that one person
@@beyhivenoah it is part of mcu
Gael Garcia Bernal did such an amazing job conveying Jack's tragedy with that one moment after Elsa asks him if learning a person's scent worked before. Such a wounded line reading.
The only thing that threw me off was the changing accent, but it wasn’t a make or break
It is the moment I use when people ask me why they chose Gael for the part. That's why.
I’m so glad this special was so good! The gore, the monsters, the small chuckles. It’s all balanced. Can’t wait to see more monsters in the MCU!
Makes me a little less afraid that they'll mess Blade up. Still afraid, but a little less.
The humor was perfectly done, the back of the coffin said "this end up", so clever.
@@walterroux291have faith.
@@walterroux291 they got the writers from moon knight working on it
the one who can't greatly done
"I'll be...rotting for you." Michael Giacchino is known for making puns as the titles of each musical track for whichever score he composes. I love how he managed to work in one of his puns into the film :)
The door closing shot is probably the best shot in all of phase 4
Phase 4 has had some of the best mcu cinematography
This special was easily one of my favorite piece of marvel media ever! It’s just so good I loved watching the old universal monster movies so this whole thing felt like a gift from marvel
same here
jack russell is literally already one of my new fave characters. he's so cool
Just like Chris Pratt
I'm living for his bromance with Man-Thing already
Garcia is so freaking good in this.
@@cable7152 he is! it's made me wanna watch some of his other stuff so if you have any recommendations?
@@rhetiq9989 yes that ending was so cute
Loved this so much. And that Elsa here was much like Elsa in the comics. Elsa has superhuman strength, speed, durability and endurance, and a regenerative healing factor. She appears to possess all of the abilities her father once had.
I wondered how she survived having her head bashed in 3 times on concrete.
I only knew about her beforehand because of a podcast episode on her years ago
I believe that she gets away with it because she retains a fragment of the Bloodstone.
I was boutta say there’s no way she could’ve not gotten a scratch from her head being banged onto an edge of contested three times by a super muscular guy
She will be more powerful now because she has the bloodstone now
He really should direct Blade
I need more werewolf by night and man-thing asap
This was absolutely incredible. I really want the crew who did this to work on Blade and help salvage it. A perfect atmosphere, story, violence, blood, comedy, chemistry, everything.
For real!! Like get this Team on Blade!!
One of my favorite parts about this was the subtitles. Before the reveal of his name they said *Monster roars* after he says Man Thing's name is Ted they say *Ted roars*
"Jack Russel..." That name choice ALWAYS gets me, but the scratching behind the ear REALLY sent it home.
And walking in a little circle before sitting down. Perfection. Chef's Kiss.
Just finished watching and I loved it! The friendship between Man thing and Jack was unexpected but wholesome.
I don't know if it's cause it's the middle of the night, but I got teary-eyes of joy watching this. I did not think it would be this great and so well done. I hope they give Michael Giacchino the opportunity to direct the more of the dark side of Marvel. You guys' reactions were the best.
he should direct BLADE
man should direct Blade
She-Hulk's Daredevil episode yesterday and Werewolf by Night today, Marvel fans are eating good this week. Reminds me of when we got Kingpin in Hawkeye and Matt Murdock in NWH at the same week.
good
Except she hulk is traaaaash
@@follower8815 your a troll 😂.
@@follower8815 She-Hulk is amazing - it just depends what you're looking for or expecting. The primary focus is not about being the most action oriented or accurate to court proceedings. It'll never give you serious moments like Daredevil would because that's never the intention. The vibe's more like Deadpool, but swap batshit crazy assassin for party-girl attorney. It's more about the social aspects, slice of life moments, and fourth wall breaks. The action has been great too imo, but whether the humor hits is what makes or breaks the show. I think the show's great, but I can also imagine the jokes trigger a lot of insecure people.
@@Rhodair I see what you mean. But I can assure you that I don’t like it because it’s simply just bad. It’s not that I had expectations for the show. I doesn’t phase me there isn’t much action. Wandavision for example. There wasn’t any action in the early episodes. The early episodes were pure sitcom for the most part and it was amazing. She hulk is just so bad though
I was so invested in the rescue of Ted I literally forgot it was Terrier's show and that that was why the Bloodstone rejected him. When I watched the Special, for a hot minute I thought he could not pick it up because Elsa "won" and the Bloodstone knew!
Terrier?
It’s Jack Russell not terrier
@@TJ-jw1wm A Jack Russel is also a type of Terrier
My first thought was "why would he even pick it up?" He knew it weakened Man-Thing, so why risk touching it? But he probably assumed it'd not effect him or just be something tame. I think he was just trying to be nice, planning to hand it over to Elsa but picking it up for her since he was closest.
I was charmed the entire time. I need more screen time with bffs Jack and Man-thing. They’re the duo I never knee I needed. And I love Elsa. Her dynamic with the bffs was superb and I need to see more of her as well. Giacchino did such a great job with this. Would love to see more from him as a director even though I love his work as a music composer.
This was a 100% love letter to the Universal Monster movies, and it was awesome. Everything was perfect about that. They also added the reel change cues at points. Can't say I was expecting that, massive kudos for that.
Never read Bloodstone, so Elsa saying she trained with somebody else, and the way she fought made me think she trained with some Widows.
Were there any references to the Hammer films?
@@irvinreevesinbaraj6134 Let me just type, this looked like Hammer and Universal hooked up one night and had a baby called "Werewolf By Night". I was smiling with pride (as a comic collector/fan) through the whole 52 minutes.
Is this set in moderna times?
@@hecrosegreat3943 I mean, based on the dates in the mausoleum it's at least set somewhere in the last few decades
@@joshorton9061 oh ok. Thanks
You can say a lot of things about Marvel but at least they try to mix things up. This felt like something truly different. I'm impressed.
Gael Garcia Bernal as Jack Russell is my new favorite hero in the MCU. He was so fun to watch, relatable and left you feeling the need to see more of him and Ted's adventures together. Looking forward to seeing more of the Werewolf By Night
I feel like this is such a standalone and it's built so well that is has rewatchability yes it references The Avengers at the beginning but it's its own unique thing and that's what I love about it. realistically speaking you could go into this without knowing anything else in the MCU. For me this is definitely becoming a halloween classic and I'm probably going to be watching this every October.
One of the best Marvel projects this year. I grew up with the Universal horror films. So much respect for this and you all reaction was great.
They so perfectly channeled that "Horror Noir" feel of the Universal classics, without once feeling campy or trite.
Even paid homage to the Wizard of Oz a little at the end. That reverse colorization is brilliant
Yep I grew up with the universal monster movies and just werewolf/supernatural esk movies so this was right up my alley and I loved that they portrayed this style so perfectly.
ever
I was pretty stoked for this. I was trying not to get my expectations to high but man what a ride. The transformation scene with the light strobing and the slow zoom in oner as jack goes off is awesome.
Being under an hour it didn’t feel rushed at all, the pacing was great, and it did the job of telling a great story without it being a 2 hour movie or a 6-8 episode series. Absolutely loved this, gonna watch it again, and I can’t wait for more Marvel special presentations like this!!!😆
Holy cow, I was not expecting to love this as much as I did! It was fantastic! Excellently paced and directed, with great creature effects and action, all in a perfect runtime. And come on, MAN-THING was absolutely PERFECT! I need more of them! 😀
I loved Man-Thing in this too! 😊
To realise Man-Thing is actually a nexus being and related to the overarching Multiverse Saga is damn exciting!
This is was pleasant surprise for me. Defienlty one the best projects of phase 4.I am really excited to see more of Jack Russel, Ted and Elsa in the future.
Just finished it for the second time and in my opinion this is a top 5 MCU project. It's so well done.
Man thing looked absolutely breathtaking the cgi on him was beautifully done!
This was so, so, SO GOOD!!! Easily one of my favorite things that Marvel has done!! Both Jack and Elsa were fantastic, and they nailed Man-Thing!! He's my favorite Marvel monster, and I am so very happy with his introduction! A couple other things:
1) I haven't heard any reactors mention this yet, but there was a fun little easter egg in the opening narration when he said the phrase "where monsters dwell," which of course was a long-running Marvel horror comic.
2) I strongly recommend that you watch the Disney+ documentary "Director by Night," which is about Michael Giacchino and his brother, and how they grew up making movies with their friends. It's extremely good!
Keep it up Rejects!! You guys are awesome!
Just finished watching this. It was soooo awesome. Great chemistry between Jack & Ted. Can’t wait for the Midnight Sons !!!
I laughed when I read the credits and realized that the werewolf is called Jack Russell. I have 3 jack russell terriers, and believe me, its an accurate way of describing them! Also, I'm in awe of Michael Giacchino, directing AND composing the score.
That was soooo cool! Loved that they gave us a taste of what may come with Blade!
The writing, acting, score, and directing were all top notch. I feel like this was just a perfect story. I need Giacchino directing another werewolf film asap
The film was way better than I thought it would be (cuz these aren’t my type of movies). I didn’t get scared at all, which I wish I did, but it was still very cool
I like how the trailers portrayed it as something cheesy when it was so much the opposite the tone was captivating. I love Elsa Bloodstone and Jack Russell i think they’re great additions. This felt like OG Marvel and i want more! Can’t wait to see Man Thing again, can already tell he’ll be a fan favourite (He is for me at least). And they used a great level of gore for the MCU i didn’t expect that but enjoyed every second.
OG marvel ?This is marvel still you know ?The same people who made the first Ironman were also responsible for making this ?

@@fahimalfaisal7781 yeah thats what I’m saying lmao, Phase 4 hasn’t been great and a lot of stuffs felt forced and cheap. This among a few exceptions like Moonknight, Loki, NWH Etc. this felt like they actually gave a shit and I thoroughly enjoyed it man.
@@StrategyHD phase 4 has been great and absolutely nothing felt cheap and if they didn’t take each of their projects seriously why does it take so much time for the projects to release then ?Its as if they don’t do reshoots to make any project better or something ,keep working on any project till the last minute ,learn how this stuffs work before commenting like someone with low brain cells and IQ !It would be helpful !
I really liked the foreshadowing by using "Somewhere over the rainbow", and the color change. I kind of wished that we got an end credit scene, to sort of hint, at where we might see these characters next?
I like how all their stories ended
Jack might make an appearance in Moon Knight if the comics are anything to go by
Midnight Sons, Blade or Moon knight, the possibilities man.
this was just great. loved Man-Thing in this especially considering they actually built a full sized Man-Thing behind the scenes. even the little things like the painting of Gorr getting his arm chopped off from the comics was great. perfect birthday present for a horror fan like me
Finding out Terrier is friends with Ted is such a cool reveal!
Loved it! Thank you Marvel for this special! 🐺🐺🐺
I loved it, Man Thing & Jack's friendship was lovely!!! I smiled the whole time!!!
If you look hard, you'll see a small flower in the lapel area of Man-things torso.
I believe that it's to let us know, that there's still a little bit of a gentleman inside him.
We need a Man Thing and Groot buddy series pronto. That would be a cool series to watch seeing how they communicate with each other.
This is where the fun begins! So satisfying to see Disney is allowing Marvel to tell more darker stories like this! Even though I don't to much about Man-Thing, seeing him was so cool! 🙏🏽
This was BY FAR my favorite phase 4 project challenged maybe by Loki but this just had such a good and unmistakable vibe and was pretty much perfect throughout
I started clapping after watching this. Just a fantastic Special and one of the best MCU projects in phase 4.
So after watching this I’m a firm Believer Michael Giachinno is well deserving of a shot at directing Blade! I’ve got the faith! I was hooked on this, I didn’t want it to end. I’m sure this guy can do wonders with the film with a good script and his vision!
Who would've thought that one day we would see a Live-action Man Thing?! That was awesome. I loved Werewolf By Night. See? This is the main difference between DC and Marvel. You have a universe for every taste. The design of this movie actually took me back to my childhood and classic horrors of legends like Hitchcock, Jack Hill & David Lynch. Keep doing this Marvel. And I'm so glad Laura Donnelly finally joined the MCU. She's one my fav actresses and she's super talented. You can watch her amazing acting on "Outlander" or "The Nevers". Though I have a question for you guys. Would you rather watched this on big screen, or you liked it this way (on platform)?!
I loved it. Can’t wait for more MCU supernatural.
This was honestly amazing. I love horror and Marvel and this was the perfect combination. This is my top favorite Marvel Disney + show/movie this year. I hope we get a sequel because in the end credits you can see her aunt's arm coming out of the coffin.
I just finished it and I loved it. This was just a really fun time and of course I loved the gore lol
Wow this so good, more please.
The main actress in this is brilliant in a 6 part tv series called The Nevers. Its so cool, best to go into it blind. Really hope to see you react to it. Really original and cool.
Cant wait to see her, werewolf and manthing in more movies😜😎🇬🇧
She's from The Nevers!!! I was watching this and Elsa kept bugging me, the whole movie I was trying to remember where ive seen her before. I hope theres a season 2 of The Nevers, last I heard it was not renewed but not cancelled.
She is also in Outlander! She plays Jamie's sister Jenny!
We 1000% need more of this style in the MCU.....this was absolutely fantastic
Top 3 project in this phase so far, my favorites are Now Way Home, Moon Knight, and WByN. Can’t wait to have both of these characters come back
We need this writer to take on Blade because this was fantastic and would be the perfect tone for Blade and other darker characters.
With a single word (“Once”) we get this man’s full backstory. I’ve never seen something so brilliant before this.
So glad that as a kid, instead of leaning into Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh, I watched The Twilight Zone & Universal Monster films over and over again. I wasn't the only one who caught the similar shot to Natasha and Hulk hallway run in The Avengers movie.👏👏👏 Now, I want to read Werewolf by Night comics. Hope we get more of these characters 🤞
This was amazing dude one of my favourite projects Marvel has made 🤯

Marvel Studios now has no excuse to not make BLADE as gory as this! THIS WAS FUCKING GOOOOODDDD!!!!
Best project so far for this phase, I want to see more things like this, I don't know if just hit the nostalgia but this was amazing
Disney has low key been getting us ready for Deadpool with the ramp up of violence as of late an I love it
This was way better than I expected it to be. It gives me hope for the future of Marvel.
This made me SO HAPPY. I loved The Wolf Man from 1941, but hadn’t seen or thought about it in maybe a decade since I moved away from home. This will now become a new Halloween season fav, and I plan to buy a DVD of The Wolf Man, as this reminded me how much I liked it!
Werewolf By Night is just wonderful. What a nice surprise. Thank you Reel Rejects and Coy!!! Hope you guys have a great weekend!!! 🙂 👍
I am a fan of anything from the Golden Era of Cinema except for horror stuff. The thing is I am a scaredy cat so i'm watching your reaction first before watching the movie lol.

And woah. Werewolf by night really has to be one of the top 5 phase 4 projects!!
This is exactly what Marvel should do more often!!! This was FUCKING AWESOME!!!
I did not expect to like it as much as i did! I want more specials! Perfect casting again! ❤
That fact the Michael Giacchino took the John Carpenter root by not only composing the score for this but also directing this as well is awesome!!! I hope these characters return to the MCU in the near future!
This is by far one of the best marvel projects ever. It’s so enjoyable to watch, such great VFX, costumes, music, cinematography. It’s all so good. And for a quick little hour long special the story is great. Wanna see these characters more!!!

I'm 64 years old and I never thought I'd see Man-Thing in a movie. So happy!!
I mean.. technically
Can we just appreciate the visual image of Man-Thing playing Solitaire? XD
This was so awesome! Definitely want more of Jack Russell and Man-Thing. I was thoroughly entertained, one of Marvel's best so far.
The guy who played jack is awesome! I think he was in the will Ferrell movie "casa de mi padre" and so it's cool seeing him in here.
Jack Russell in the comics has been known to have run ins with Dracula.
Billy swan is the Igor character from old monster movies.
I love the cigarette burns.
Man thing lives!!!! Was a biochemist in the comics trying to recreate the super soldier serum in the Everglades but after injecting himself crashed his car into a magical swamp which is nexus point kind of a connection to wanda and dr strange
The bloodstone kinda of looks like it’s connected to chaos magic look at the flare the color
Laura Donnelly was also outstanding in "The Nevers" Great job. Love the humor.
This gift from marvel is superb. I really enjoyed the full movie. Especially the color changing scene is dope 🔥🔥🔥❤❤
I am in awe of how good this was. Like MY GOD, I did not expect Marvel to go this hard. At least not till the R rated characters. But damn, also Ted is amazing he's like old school Groot but with face melting powers. I love that big ol muck monster.
Amazing stuff. One of the best MCU projects, so unique and creepy but also very heartfelt. Loved it.
You take that back, Coy!
Elsa Bloodstone does not do wire work!!!!!
I really enjoyed this and I liked all the main characters the Jack/Werewolf, Manthing/Ted, and the Lady and wouldn't mind seeing any of them later on. Music was amazing especially after the transformation it really boosted the scenes.
