Honestly, I loved it. Didn’t think I would love it but…never say never.
Morning my Gents! Well now...this is a fine howdy-do isn't it?! The best opening episode of any Marvel series so far by a country mile! So much so in fact that it gets my first 10/10! This was everything I hoped for and more! I have dished out a lot of 9s (especially for Ms Marvel) but She Hulk "stuck the landing" as you gentlemen say, on it's first try! This is the series I have been waiting for no doubt. Staggeringly brilliant in every aspect! More of this please...

Professor Hulk talked about Tony a lot. I think he's been missing Tony a lot. Hell, it made me tear up a bit when i saw their initials carved into the bar. God, it made me miss Tony 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Well, he's been living alone in an island and his closest friends Tony and Natasha are dead, his friend Thor is far away in another galaxy and his other friend Steve Rogers is presumed dead

Tony was the only guy basically as smart as him. Must suck having no one else to talk to about your interests.
You can see how much trauma he still has from old days of escape military and trying kill himself. It also makes sense of why he is trying to suggest jen to become a hero because for him becoming a hero was only way for the world to accept him.
Tony was the first of the Avengers to treat him like an actual human and not a potential threat/monster, and they where the science bros so of course he misses him alot!
I feel so bad for hulk, he misses tony. This show has started really strong

I love the little detail at 9:20 where you can see that B.B. is written straight but T.S. is crooked because Tony was drunk.
I get that some might feel that Jen is handling her 'Hulk' better than Bruce because she's a woman. But lets not forget, she also didn't see her abusive dad kill her mom as a kid. The Hulk/Gamma Ray serum was based off of Howard Stark and Erksine's work on the super soldier serum. Good becomes great and bad becomes worse. That's why Bruce's untreated childhood trauma manifested as the Hulk, Blonsky went full Abomination, now we're seeing what happens to a normal everyday person who can handle the transformation

Some of the scenes really make me think we’re definitely headed towards a world-war hulk route. The way he thinks he’s in control because he tamed the hulk when in reality he hasn’t come to terms with the other versions of himself.
That's possible, but I'm leaning more toward a Dogs of War movie where we learn that Smart Hulk isn't actually Bruce and Hulk put together, but one of the many versions (or identities) or Bruce Banner and Hulk. And then after Dogs of War, we would get a World War Hulk. You build up to WWH by making him realize it's not just him, Hulk, and Smart Hulk, and then you have one of those other entities take center stage, reinforcing all of Banner's fears of losing control.
Honestly, JUST GIVE US WORLD WAR HULK IN THE MCU ALREADY MARVEL

He says he integrated the Bruce and Hulk identities, which, fair enough, we can take that at face value, but that doesn't mean it's a stable fusion. In DID, if you fuse two identities prematurely without processing the trauma that separated them in the first place, it's very likely that another split will happen as a result, because the split is a survival mechanism. If you can't handle the trauma, it's gotta go somewhere. That may have already happened and Bruce just doesn't know about it. He may have created a whole new Hulk alter who is nothing but the rage and the pain and the sorrow and none of the maturity and perspective he gained on Sakaar, and all it takes for that new Hulk to come out is a trigger. Like...a reminder of the bits of childhood Bruce still isn't ready to think about.

Perhaps her Hulk training went so smooth because it was Jennifer retelling it and left out some details. It did say it was a couple months from the accident to now. I'm sure a lot got glossed over.
The whole end credits role with Jen and Bruce going shopping buying spandex in bulk load with the court case as she gives her deposition etc., with the art theme is so good.
After the Mandalorian, I really like shows with end credits that show off art.
I especially love the art bc that’s what they have the courtroom artist do so it fit right in

I really like how fast paced this intro/ origin was. As you guys pointed out, she is amazing as SheHulk and the chemistry with Mark is great
The scene where she throws a boulder farther than Bruce stops there in the trailer giving the impression they are diminishing the Hulk but on the show Bruce responds by throwing a boulder over the horizon. It was nicely handled throughout, that Bruce is so much stronger while also underestimating her.
Some say that that scene just shows that Bruce is being petty

I doin't think they paid attention in the trailer. Bruce visibly put little effort at all into tossing the first boulder. Little more than a flick of the wrist. She on the other hand made an effort to throw hers and thus threw it further.

In mine sibling rivalry was strong between me and my brother, we're the two youngest of six. We had two cousins of similar age nearby that we got together with quite often outside of family get togethers as well. There was a sibling rivalry between them as well but also between us cousins. We were competitive, verbal jabs, arguments, and even fights. But under all that we always had each others backs and the family love and laughs were there. Otherwise we wouldn't have kept getting together. Obviously these two characters wouldn't be on a road trip together if they weren't close. There was some banter even in the car. The family rivalry and verbal jabs was an aspect I really enjoyed. But is a fist pump actually boasting? Did you see the part when he threw a bigger boulder into outer space and she said "I'm shown"? Rivalry.
Even the "better" is your own insecure projection. Was her sonic clap better than his? His sent her flying and caused her pain. She couldn't send him flying but in rapid succession could cause him pain. Better, or different? He's clearly stronger, she's more agile and fexible. Better or different? I just see them as different. My brother was bigger and stronger (3" taller and 40 lbs heavier in highschool). I was faster and more agile. We both played rugby in high school. He played in the scrum, I played right wing. Better or different?
Would it be clutching at straws or fair to say Smart Hulk is abussive to women? Omg, he pushed her off a cliff! Or was that simply that family rivalry coming through while knowing she wouldn't be hurt? They even competed for burp volume when drinking. He won so he's better.
I learned two things from this episode. I have met my MCU spiritual twin and her name is Jennifer Walters, and "CAPTAIN AMERICA FU--" Tatiana Maslany has captured my heart again.
I’m not even going to lie, This Is probably my favourite Pilot episode from a Marvel Show To Date! SUPER Excited for the next 8 episodes. This first episode really has me pumped because I didn’t think I’d like it…but I loved it, I CANNOT WAIT!

The whole transformation effects felt very streamlined with Jen turning into She-Hulk where it's similar to Bill Bixby's/David Banner transformation, but with technology now it's just incredible.

“Where’s daredevil?!” Got me dying at the end
Start to finish I loved it. Love the catchiness of the show. How far they went with some of the dialogue between Jen and Bruce was amazing. From this very first episode I hope they don’t hold back the rest of the season. Strong start! Was happy to see the reaction when I opened YT after the episode! 😆

This episode was paced so well. Other shows I would have rolled my eyes seeing a 30ish minute run time. But this show used every second so well.

It wasn't Natalie Dormer's character from SSR. He said the USO. Which means it was Laura Haddock's character that got the autograph and gave him a sexy look. Which could mean that he is related to Star Lord, since that's the same actress that played his mom. Could be her mom or grandma.

So there's a theory that Bruce banner suffers from DID because of his traumatic childhood and Hulk was an Alter Ego who protected him during the accident.
So It is pretty clear in this show, as it's easier for Jen to be the She Hulk because she's not Bruce who is suffering internally because of his mental health and externally from the isolation

I loved jessica jones, and im tired of this bullshit claims of hating women because im not interested in the recent trend of women lead tv shows, demonizing men and treating women like victims of a patriarchy that can do no wrong.
Its like with the whole reviews on imdb, the one stars before the show is out, “oh look at these fragile women haters”. All the literal 10 fucken stars before the show is out, “completely warranted because this is a show for women”

Best first episode to a Marvel show since WandaVision in my opinion. I love how they jumped headlong into the fourth wall breaking of Jen's commentary, and the writing seems really good so far. I'm looking forward to the rest of this series big-time.

That episode was so great! It set up so many things! While at the same time made so many call backs!!! While at the same time jumped right into it didn’t waste any time and even helped answer a few questions I loved it! From start to finish it was fun! I love the chemistry between hulk and she hulk it was perfect!!! And the way she plays she hulk is exactly how I imagine she hulk in the comics! I love it! 😍😍

I do agree the pacing was a bit fast, I really wished this was like a 16-23 ep half-hour legal comedy series. This episode is already fantastic and there are so many things they can do with this
I can tell this is going be one of my favorite Disney Plus shows. This is going all sorts of kind of fun.
Loved it! To quick though needs to be longer. The bathroom scene was amazing!!! She Hulk actually came around at the period of multiple feminist movements in particular 2nd wave. And there is even references in the show and comics to the same wave that has great juxtaposition to the Fine Arts world. I think that the call outs to Savage She Hulk are great seeing how most people loved the Bryne run. This is definitely an intellectual show which most people may not get. The Titania scene sets up the conflict between them really well. She Hulk knocks her out which causes Titania to seek revenge.
Maslany as She Hulk is it! That is Sensational She Hulk.

Yeah, there is nothing wrong with thirsting for She-Hulk. What I love about the first episode is how Jen shines through regardless of form. The strength and confidence she finds as She-Hulk resonates back into her human form, yet her insecurities and fears come through when she's green, too. Such a a great character, and hulked out or no, who doesn't have a crush on Tatiana Maslany? Holy cow, what a presence.
This is why I like following you guys, u guys keep it real and u review everything as true comic fans, keep it going guys!

An absolute banger of a first ep. Loved it
I really throughly enjoyed this first episode. I think it was well done and can’t wait to see more.
I feel like her quick successes in training may be just due to her being the narrator, where we have her jabbing earlier on that she is better then hulk so it would seem like she would be a little unreliable in that way. Like usually its the point in 4th wall breaking, to introduce some bias on the part of the story teller.
Part of Bruce's backstory is he really does have a lot of unresolved trauma. His "other guy" wasn't because the gamma but because of those experiences so even without the accident he would still Hulk out. It's just after he can physically transform he's pushed into more and more situations that have him Hulk out.
Jen meanwhile is less damaged so she has different struggles. When you look at the other Hulks through Marvel this is also true. There's lots of Hulks who are better at it than Bruce and plenty who are worse.
Yeah shes a healthier person mentally, definitely more assertive than Bruce was. As well as physically active. So her she hulk persona just enhances that. Bruce had to overcome more obstacles. Tho I do reject the notion that women handle their emotions better. We as humans do what gives us fastest results. Meaning men are more likely to suppress/repress their emotions to just keep going. Women will whine to get other people to do what they want. Neither of those are healthy and both genders have to be more proactive to become better.
Just saying all this has me thankful that the show could stimulate this kind of conversation.

And she said nothing about how hard her life was, nor about emotional trauma, she said it about the everyday experience of frustration and anger. She has a stressful job, her life has different stresses than Bruce had. And she literally showed she absolutely does handle it better, for whatever fucking reason. Less gamma radiation, different genes, female anatomy, or different experiences of trauma - for whatever reason the amount of control she expresses as the Hulk is completely different and unlike you he was able to immediately acknowledge that.

Thought they were trying to highlight She Hulk & Hulk are different to avoid comparisons. Jen doesn't share Bruce's emotional issues (DID/ split personalites) and can deal with things Bruce struggled with, hopefully the show will now delve into areas Jen has to struggle with.
Fair point on 'all' her anger being associated with men, I may be reaching here, maybe that's a start point of an arc exploring the issue as opposed to a background character detail.

She wasn’t stating it as the full scale and scope of her anger so much as the example of WHY she is so good at controlling it.
She's comparing her ability to control anger from being catcalled to the countless actual traumas Bruce has endured like they're equal in any way. Bruce literally saw his mother murdered as a child. She is either unbelievably narcissistic or delusional beyond help.

3:39 I assumed it was a Tony Stark reference. Bruce probably didn't have any women's clothing lying around but since Tony was living there with him for a while he likely still had some of Tony's old clothes.

This ep felt a bit rushed at times, but still had fun! Already in love with Tatiana Maslany. I loved what she said about women having to control their emotions (having been told myself I was being to emotional while having depressive episodes), and I'm sure that'll ring true for a lot of people.
I was also waiting for Bruce to admit he didn't want to let Jen go because he didn't want to be alone again 💔

Loved this episode, how they made it clear that Bruce and Jen are different Hulks. And to be honest, I can't wait to see Jen dealing with superhuman cases as a lawyer.
I loved it. I’m an easy audience and at the risk of being the opposite of what the show is messaging, give me some comedy, some action and an attractive woman, and I’m good. This delivered.
PS: I really don’t get the anger at shows like this. It’s so breezy it’s clearly not serious. It’s not “woke” to have a female lead dealing with things women deal with. It really says a lot more about the people that are super-pissed (afraid?) about a female led show than it does about the show.
It's not fair to assume that every man who has a problem being demonized is a misogynist. Jen made it very clear in this episode from heavy implications that she thinks she's better than Bruce BECAUSE she's a woman and he's worse BECAUSE he's a man. That whole concept of inherently being better than someone because of their gender should anger both sides. It's not true.
i'm a dude and so far, "ms. marvel" is my favorite MCU show. this episode was full of fun. i love jen walters and CAPTAIN AMERICA FUCKS!!!!!!!

If you felt like you were being demonized it is because you recognize yourself in the complaint so maybe you should do something about that instead of trying to cry about how your feelings have been hurt.

Moment and yet there's no substance behind it. I hear what's implied and make of it what makes the most sense given the context. She said she was better than him and the main reason she gave was that she was able to control her emotions better because she was a woman. She didn't make any other claims as to why she's better so it's safe to assume that's her only reason.

I loved it! The chemistry between her and Bruce is great and I love that most of the episode was them bonding. We need more Bruce/Hulk in general!
Seeing Bruce talk so much about tony is bittersweet because they were the only two avengers that seemed like actual buddies outside of work so it sweet that he’s very fond of tony but also sad that we weren’t able to see more of those moment like them at the bar in Mexico, that’s would’ve been something 😭

This is one hell of a way to start off the series strong, and Tatiana Maslany really got it as Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk! the casting for her is just perfection. I'm hooked on since seeing the trailers so next Thursday's gonna be no different.
19:49 she didn’t say that all of her anger was male related. She said that she’s had a lot of practice controlling her anger because of the frequency of the encounters that she listed. So things unrelated to men do anger her, but she’s developed a way to control it.
It’s like someone who builds up a tolerance for alcohol based on how often or how much they drink. Anger is her alcohol. Maybe she mostly drinks wine (men) but that’s not the only alcohol she drinks (men aren’t the only thing that makes her angry). She can handle her whiskey, beer, tequila, etc.
She also was shown to actually have a reason to dislike many of the men around her, the other lawyer was kind of mean, telling her to smile more which isn't something most lawyers do I think in the middle of their closing argument, the guys at the bar who needed a sober up moment, and Bruce was projecting like because he didn't want to be alone anymore.
@@lightdarksoul2097 the lawyer was giving advice to a fellow lawyer. He wouldn't have been in that room with Jen if she didn't want him there to critique her performance. And no, Hulk was not projecting. He has experience as the Hulk and she doesn't. That's just fact. She already thinks she knows it all and Bruce is trying to make her realize that everything she thinks she knows is wrong. Which is true. But he's labeled as a mansplainer because of it.
@@jolliron Bruce doesn't exactly realize she isn't him shit no one else is. Every other hulk created in the comics doesn't have his issues. Each one is in control of themselves while he isn't. We saw that she is in over her head. She's egotistical much like a lawyer would be. However she also isn't gonna destroy a city like he has.
As for the lawyer guy, smiling more isn't criticism to what she's saying it's criticism on her. Also he doesn't explain why he'd be better at the job than her so it looks bad. Also he tried to put his word above Nicky's without saying much other than hey I'm another lawyer. He just wasn't being helpful
@@lightdarksoul2097 Bruce does realize that she's different but the comics are irrelevant because he hasn't met anyone like him before (except Abomination who is EXACTLY like him). He has every reason to be cautious. He knows what hulking does and the effects it has on the people around him and those with hulking. The lawyer guy had every right to say that he's more qualified to give advice considering he's a lawyer. He never said that the lady DIDN'T know what she was doing but that he is a lawyer and she isn't. That's not a dig at being a woman or a man. He's qualified to give lawyer advice that she asked for.

Wow, this has to be my favorite 1st episode of any Marvel show (I like it even more than Ms. Marvel's). Let's hope that the quality of the rest of the show will remain as consistent. However, I have a lof of faith this time around. They REALLY nailed Jen's character and tone. Many scenes felt like they were ripped straight out of the comics. Ugh, why didn't they release 2 episodes 😫? Can't wait.

I loved it. It’s fun, and Jen is adorable. Also, we need more Hulk. And the CGI was good enough for me. It’s a series not a movie lol.
I love it so far I just don’t like how Jen doesn’t take his own trauma and stuff into account and brushed it off as him being miserable and relationship-less but other than that I like how she used real issues as a way to have an easy grasp on her powers
Nah fr that part didn't sit with me right. SHE called him out for so much so many traumatic things that happened to him in situations where he had to put others before himself which probably fucked Bruce up mentally for a while while still being selfless for the avengers, and he takes it on the chin like he's her alcoholic husband getting his weekly scolding from his wife LMAO.
And if you want to go that far, then so be it. Just don't throw a fit then the moment Bruce brings your traumas into a situation like when he barely touched upon her being too emotional then she went off on him.
Show was funny, had a good time except for that one part. Good show to get drunk and watch. Will I remember what happened in this episode a week from now? Probably not. Am I gonna remember anybody's names besides She Hulk, Hulk, Wong, Abomination and Matt, within the next month after I finish the show? Probably not. But is it a good time, yess it's a solid 7/10 for me. She got charisma and jokes here and there, just don't appreciate when it feels like Bruce gets stepped on or the overall feeling of a rushed and overlooked opportunity of a show.
Idk about this though. Knowing that my favorite Marvel character of all time, Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock, will most likely be reduced down to just a badass side character/ lawyer (for now, that we know of) for She Hulk. Knowing that the slow burn and theme of Daredevil, the trauma he got all those years fighting for grimy ass hell's kitchen, all the conflicts he had between saving his own soul through his own mental battles throughout the seasons, deep moral battles and compromises he had to fight and battle hinself for against characters like Frank Castle, Elektra and (prehawkeye) Fisk, the literal cliffhanger his show was left on with bullseye; I'm assuming that all of this is gone for good in turn for casual comedy and action. It's not the problem with just this show, because none of the mcu shows have been bad, they're good actually. Funny with good characters, good cinematography and good actors like always. But what happened to being better than good?
What happened to being memorable and truly having the feeling like wow, this show went above and beyond, and I can actually like feel it. That feeling I get when I watched Invincible, Daredevil, Stranger Things etc. Wonder how many marvel shows I'm gonna run through after this show within the next 10 or whatever years before I can feel it again, if not ever. Sorry for the rant and offtopicness LMAO. Just feel like a broken record when I literally have to justify why a show is good or not in my head like this. I want the best out of these. Give me the movie magic Marvel.
@@dir-gk she-hulk is definitely going to treat Daredevil like she treated Bruce. controlling the street-level crime is Matt's expertise but she's definitely just gonna shit on him and make him look like some weak character, same way she belittled hulk in the pilot episode

This was so fun. It also shows how hard things have been for Bruce. I am looking forward to episode 2.
Its so funny to me how many people got mad at that scene where Jen talks about how being a woman makes things different for her as if she's comparing herself to current Bruce. She wasn't. She was frustrated that he was trying to treat her like Bruce from 15-20 years ago. Bruce knew that she was new to being a hulk, so he thought of her like him when he was new to it. Jen was making the point that they weren't starting off from the same place. They're different people with different life experiences, and yes, being different genders does factor into that. Bruce's immediate fear was, "If I lose control, I'm going to hurt someone," while Jen was explaining that she was coming from a place of, "If I lose control, someone is going to hurt me."
Also, I know Bruce has been through significant traumatic events. They weren't taking about that though. They were talking about controlling your emotions during every day annoyances. Jen was pointing out, rightfully, that having a different life experience means she has different starting skills than Bruce did.
I expected it to be good but I didn't expect Episode 1 to be amazing. The Hulk battle was great and that chopstick idea with Cheetos, GENIUS!!!

It was either one of the performers he went on stage with during his days as a performer, or the girl that showed up to his autograph signing. This relationship didn't last very long, since he only spent a few months as a performer before he went to save Bucky
