It's not really explained in the MCU but is touched upon in the Ang Lee Hulk movie that the Hulk is another personality born of Bruce's childhood trauma from growing up with an extremely abusive father. Jennifer's didn't have that trauma or anywhere near the same levels of gamma exposure and therefore just transforms without losing her personality or intelligence.

It's not some weird movie theory it's pretty established canon and it makes a lot of sense. We have multiple Hulks, both in the comics and now in the MCU, and they aren't all like Bruce. There's a much larger range of Hulks in the comics but "turns into a rage monster" is not actually universal in the MCU or comics. That's a Bruce thing not a gamma powered transformation thing.

I'm glad they showed Bruce's frustration. He finally felt that he might have someone who could understand his position, and his cousin just gets her Hulk form with none of the relative downsides he had to struggle with ever since he first turned, and it's upsetting. I do wish they'd confirm MCU Bruce's past, as we can have far more context as to all the trauma that did bring the Hulk identity to life. Plus, all that and throwing in that Tony and Natasha are dead, and I can only imagine that Bruce is just incredibly fed up with people he was close to either dying or not fully understanding just what the Hulk has meant for him for better or worse.

@@donemu9096 Not saying they need him to breakdown his entire life's trauma in a single episode, I'd like to see some acknowledgement since he apparently integrated Bruce and Hulk, so there had to be some level of understanding of his own trauma to finally get a hold of himself to the degree we see when he's "Smart Hulk".
Hulk's only had one MCU movie, and he's since been relegated as an add-on for the rest of the MCU. He's gotten so much background growth that we only barely get to in this show, despite showing up directly in 6 movies. I'm just not satisfied with how poorly the MCU has treated Hulk, and I sorta hate that we had to wait for a spin-off show that isn't even primarily about him to even start getting context into all that he's been doing outside the films to better understand himself. That's fine if you think my complaining is too fast, but he's far past due.

I'm pretty sure he Falcon, and Sam at the very least know I highly doubt Hulk stood 30ft away from Steve telling Sam about it and not being told by Sam or Steve himself the details. Steve is around somewhere as well it's possible Bruce has talked to him plenty since, but I think the idea Bruce doesn't know about it as probable as Steve being a virgin which as Eric stated NO WAY with those looks and ass.

Bruce's Hulk personality is a result of the trauma he experienced due to his abusive father, who killed Bruce's mother when Bruce was still very young. The emotions he suppressed of fear and anger are what formed into Hulk, which is why the Hulk is a big baby compared to the calculated, intelligent Banner. In short, Hulk's alter egos are the result of his diassociative identity disorder (kinda like Moon Knight), except they are triggered by the gamma transformation- or they trigger the transformation. Being linked to his fear and anger, it's hard to tell which direction that link pulls.
And we see that someone who has the same genetic factors but lacks those traumas is able to control their Hulk form from the get-go.

Bruce has extreme D.I.D much like Moon Knight except where each persona manifests a different Hulk. In the MCU he merged his personas to make Smart Hulk.
Reason why Jen has an easier adjustment to being She-Hulk is because she doesn’t have Bruce’s trauma or split personas.

Boys talk about which girls in their class have big asses or big breasts, which girls are easy, which girls they've had sex with, some even go so far as to exchange nudes of girls. Tone is vastly different. Also, most women do not encourage men to objectify them. Not every woman is a social media influencer or has an onlyfans. Also bonus unique thing that is normally tied to She-Hulk at least in the comics (and how I understand it), her Hulk side basically acts like a strength boost. In videogame terms, Bruce will just reach the minimum requirement of strength to do what he needs to do and he can do that at will, or easier to use as an example, he basically equips certain gear that he thinks will get the job done for the situation. Jenn's Hulk doesn't use gear, but works more like shoe's using stat modifiers, basically like an X Factor in the Capcom VS games or just like a "x2 (or more) Boost" to her base stats, meaning that (and she did this in the comics to fight a space faring warrior) if she goes to the gym and works out in her base form, her Hulk form will amplify her strength, like to the point of if she simply flexed like JUST her arm, she can shatter every window off a multi-story building.

Per the MCU timeline, Steve was on the USO tour for ~18 months. 18 months in close quarters with dozens of beautiful women, a large part of that time in the US while almost all other able-bodied men were away at war. Kevin Feige's chosen explanation makes sense... best mid-post credit scene ever, lol.
Overall, a delightful episode, too. Kept me laughing. Jen was funny and likeable. Her best friend lit up the screen, too. Getting more of Bruce's story was way overdue. They had great cousin chemistry. The CGI was better than I'd been led to expect. Only cringe I had was during the courtroom fight, but even that I could see as super comic bookish. Re the genetic factor? That almost felt like Hulk-ism is a mutation. I wonder if part of the difference between Bruce & Jen is that he also was dosed with Gamma radiation simultaneously with a serum? Steve was dosed w a serum & vita rays and that went differently than when Red Skull got serum (not sure what radiation, but don't think it was vita rays courtesy of Howard Stark). I dunno. It's all comics mumbo jumbo. :) I look forward to more She Hulk!

The reason She Hulk can control her form is that The Hulk is actually another identity Bruce made when he was a kid. He has dissociative identity disorder, caused by being abused by his dad and his dad killing his mom right before him. He has never told anyone about this and isn't aware of Hulk and Banner being two different people-ish. When he "merged" Hulk and banner he just came to terms with his childhood and became "normal".

What I want out of this show, besides Matt Murdock in a court room again, is for Jen to teach Bruce how to go from one to the other on command like she can. Idk if that's "realistic" but I want it.

but then that would mean theyre very similar. the point of that is so there is a clear distinction between Jen, who's just a regular person, and Bruce who experienced childhood trauma and has DID

Hulk's blood has ALWAYS been a problem, Bruce freaks out about it in his movie.
EVERY Hulk movie has had Bruce's blood cause issues.
Ang Lee's Hulked out dogs, Abomination, Stan (became a Watcher agent), The Leader, Jen...everyone who has had contact with Bruce's blood has Hulked out in some way.

I loved the first Episode of She-Hulk a lot.
But I will say, that idea of Bruce having a different persona in Hulk form, but Jen not would work a lot better if the MCU had established the fact that Bruce has DID, caused by his childhood trauma. Especially seeing how this seems to be what some aspects of the episode seem to hint at. But hopefully if they are introducing it, we can see more of Bruce's story and his alternate personas...and hopefully it's handled with care too; in whatever project they decided to continue his story in now.
Also really liked how they updated Jennifer's Origin to make sense in a world where Bruce does know that his blood is dangerous. Now onwards with Jen's story.

A part of me was a little annoyed that it wasn't a blood transfusion that transformed her, but you're right it does make more sense for the blood to just accidentally mix with hers. For one, such a thing has shown to happen in the universe, for two I imagine Bruce would be very reluctant to give his blood to his cousin even if to save her life (though with that in mind, it potentially could work) because he knows something bad could happen if he does give her his blood.
On a side note: I thought she would have gotten her 4th wall breaking ability by getting a head injury in the crash and then getting transformed. Like it was a mix of head trauma and gamma radiation that allowed her to go slightly crazy and see past the 4th wall.

@@zacharybartolo5111 yeah, I totally get being annoyed at it not being the original one. But if she was created these days, even in the comics, I doubt Bruce would have given her his blood. Especially after Professor Hulk and Immortal Hulk.
I do wonder if they will explain weather or not her 4th wall breaking abilities were from the gamma blood or head trauma, both or even something to do with childhood. But I could see them just not explaining…it feels like a very modern mud thing to do now

    • @AT32556
      @AT32556 2 года назад +1

i doubt we will get Bruce's story, because a lot of the things he says in this episode get brushed over real quick. it feels like Marvel is trying to make Bruce open up very slightly, and the episode could have very easily benefitted from 10 more minutes of Bruce and Jen talking about their lives

Having that put into the show would also reduce the impact of her explanation of why she is not out-of-control-hulking.
The showrunner and writers want this series to be (more) about Jen's story.
It isn't just that she did not experience childhood trauma, it really is because of what being a woman in the world is like.

I liked that they explained plenty of things in this episodes, like why Bruce was human in the Shang-Chi end credits while still having his arm in a sling. The only downside is that by having the human Bruce there is little chance of Professor Hulk. If he had always been in Hulk form, then the reveal of the left-handed Professor Hulk persona could have introduced weird twists, since it wouldn't be Bruce using the stones to bring everyone back in Endgame, but an unknown persona who could have altered things that are brought up in the years to come.
