Hi jame so I’m planning to do a kill count for the MCU films and other sci fi films I was wondering if you could dm me on Twitter or instagram so I can get some tips and ideas for the videos I’m currently doing the iron man film kill count but I don’t want to make it seem like I’m copying you but you did inspire me to do this
Thank you James, honestly I don’t really watch RUclipsrs videos when they have a subject so close to heart in mind, it’s awkward even though I’m not near them in any way
Oh wow, an MCU Kill Count, never thought I’d see the day! Just watched Werewolf By Night a few days ago, thought it was pretty cool and Man-Thing looked awesome
Thematically I really liked that Jack didn’t kill any of the other hunters, only the guards. It really solidifies that Elsa did earn the bloodstone since she beat most of her opposition herself.
Yep, 100% did not see it coming. Thought this special was fantastic. Watched it with my girlfriend who is neither a horror or marvel fan, and she loved it. It’s really something anyone can jump in to without context
Bro I watched it with my girlfriend too and she loved it (despite not being able to see the screen because Disney was giving us the middle finger) I could see the screen but she couldn't
9:47 My understanding was that Jack was one of the only ones to still call him Ted, since he still saw his humanity. When Elsa paid him the same respect, he immediately turned off his defensive mode.
Oh yeah I forgot about that. I think it’s usually “whoever knows fear burns at the man things touch” but he never burnt Jack near the end likely because Ted’s able to control it, because you have to have at least one fear. Jack would definitely fear his werewolf form instead of embracing it and hurting the people he loves. They probably made it to where Ted’s able to control (not sure if he could prior to it in the comics)it which I don’t mind
@@hikoreee no, he made us think he was covering Infinity War, but it was an April Fools prank, instead he covered the slasher-inspired episode of Boy Meets World "And Then There Was Shawn"
Marvel needs more horror style specials like this. Let the same man do his magic again. This was very refreshing and has a lot more material to pull from. Not everything has to be explicitly connected and so grandiose. Werewolf by night was a perfect tribute to classic horror and the og marvel horror style comics. Great casting choice for Jack and Elsa to.
When Blade, Mephisto, Nightmare, Ghost Rider and many other supernatural beings are introduced into the MCU thats when we will get a lot more horror in the MCU. Theyve been setting up for a while now.
@@vectoralphaSecblade, and ghost rider have already been introduced, I do enjoy their take on blade but I think a more horror focused take for both characters would work way better
I do hope though if Elsa is in anything else in the future. That they have her act more like her comic self wasn't a big deal in this series since she just coming back to her family and doesn't have years doing this job. But hope in the future they give her a much bigger attitude and have her swear a bunch I know it's the MCU but can just bleep any swears. I mean never read any solo Elsa comics as think their is only like one five issue series. But have seen her either appear in issues or be a part of a cast of characters in comics I have read. Like N.E.X.T Wave Agents of Hate, King Deadpool where she's a major character for all like 10 issues. Was in an issue of a recent Jessica Jones series and was in two issues of A-Force. A few issues of Fearless Defenders. And then most recently had a full issue dedicated to her from the Death of Doctor Strange series. So not a expert on her but seen enough to know she really swirly with some anger issues.
@@geomeopeoleo1740 ok I understand now but kinda makes me wonder about why Jacks parents named him that? Or is it like when Stephen King named his son Joe?

His ancestors were once hunters who went after Dracula who then cursed them with turning into werewolves and both origins tie into the dark hold, so maybe that's how they will connect the supernatural side of the mcu.
Man-thing is simultaneously the most adorable and coolest thing ever, you can’t hear what he’s saying but its clear what he’s feeling with just his eyes, and not to mention the wonderful friendship between Jack and him
Definitely surprised to actually see this. As a fan of marvel and horror this was such a treat. Love seeing Man-Thing get his time to shine especially after his movie that no one remembers or chooses to
Let’s go! Werewolf By Night was genuinely one of the best things Marvel has put out this year, and it’s a great start to the “special presentation” format. Can’t wait to see more!
The reason Elsa's flattery worked on Ted is because he is a being that can sense other people's emotions. He is a being derived of logic and instead purely driven by the emotional reaction of others. That's why Jack stresses to Elsa above everything else to just act like a friend to Ted, because that would work better than actually trying to explain anything to him.
Werewolf By Night was such a pleasant surprise. Good to see Marvel commiting to a horror even with just a one-off special. Will hopefully be a good gateway into the genre like Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark were for 90s/00s kids.
The production behind this is so cool. The director also doing the composing, the makeup guy playing Man Thing, the editor voicing Man Thing, the amount of PRACTICAL EFFECTS... it almost feels like an indie film with all the double-duty. I'll definitely have to check this out.
100% agreed, they are dropping the ball with most of the phase 4 movies, specially Love and Thunder, this short and hopefully Wakanda Forever brings Marvel up in their game back

As a huge Marvel fan (I read the comics and watch anything they make, good or bad) I am so happy that you did this Kill Count and especially for how respectful you were to the special and source material, as usual. It's no secret you're not an MCU fan but you and your writers took the time to research and learn the history from the comics and movies without disrespecting them. Of course they can be pretty silly and goofy but you didn't let that stop you from exploring the lore and easter eggs just as you would with any other Kill Count. I also appreciate that you didn't go in on Marvel at the beginning and simply made it clear it's not your thing but that others like it and that's okay. There's a lot of criticism of the MCU from a lot of film buffs and instead you made us fans feel welcome here without praising nor deriding the MCU. Thank you James and the whole team at DM for this and I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the special!
Concur with this as well. As much as I'm not a Marvel fan (and i daresay some of the criticisms made by film buffs/critics are justified) but I'm glad James went more of a 'matter-of-fact' tone when describing Marvel's influence on film/entertainment today. I try not to ruin other people's fun as well, even if it's something that's not for me.
The amount of joy that this vid brought me as a horror fan, marvel fan, and dead meat fan I couldn’t be anymore thankful I am to see all my favorite things come together thank you James 🙂
I was quite surprised by special. I didn't expect that the MCU would allow to show bloodbath in their projects. But it's worth noting that the choreography combined with black-and-white style, atmosphere of classic horror films and violent scenes turned out to be very amazing. I hope the Werewolf, Man-Thing and Elsa Bloodstone will appear in Midnight Sons.
What I love about this movie is how the actors perfectly display fear. Like when Jack was on top of Elsa in his Werewolf form, you can see the fear in her eyes and even notice it in how rapid her breaths are
I’m so so glad that James doesn’t go outside of his boundaries but is also willing to branch out a little bit it’s one of the reasons that i try to watch every single video
I love everything about this special but I also really appreciate some of the little details, like how during the one-shot fight one of the guards trips over another guard’s corpse, and another guard gets so scared when Jack lunges at him that he drops his baton. Also, in Jack and Ted’s campout, they have a French press and for some reason a payphone torn off it’s pole
As a diehard comics fan, and horror fan, I can definitely say this is one of, if not my favorite MCU production. It is just a huge passion project for Michael Giacchino, and everyone involved, and it shines through so well in the quality and care evident in the special. It is also easily the most unique and thoughtful project of the MCU.
i loved they kept giving hints he was a werewolf even before he sits on ground he does the dog turn in circle can see the love they had with the special
"Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you." -Friedrich Seems like the family in this movie didn't really pay attention to ol' Freddy's insight.
god i wish more people talked about the cast crew and teams that work to make the show a reality. I've been watchng and consuming MCU content for years and I'm so hyped that you covered this and went into as much detail as you did. Wish more content creators showed the love to the backghround peeps like you have
Honestly, I really appreciate it when someone just acknowledges that they just aren't into certain things, and don't have to justify that disinterest by trying to say it absolutely sucks and it's the fans who are wrong for liking it. Some things just don't click with people, and that's fine.
I like how since James doesn’t watch much Marvel, he doesn’t seem to notice the awesome level of violence in this special. I was waiting for him to be all “woah and there’s blood and everything” but as far as he knows that’s normal lol
I’m so happy both for everyone who wanted this kill count but also for James, as having a marvel film he can cover will undoubtedly be good for the channel
As a substantial fan of MCU and Marvel comics I wouldn't find a MCU kill count insulting I would love to see it. Thanks for doing Werewolf by Night and I hope to see MoM in the future.
Gotta give James huge props for sticking to his guns when covering only horror movies on this channel. At the size of this channel it would be so easy to diversify the genre of movies to cover since there's probably not a lot of people on RUclips that are into horror that aren't subscribed to this channel by now. James could have changed the direction of this channel for the money but you can tell he does this solely for the passion of horror movies
I think expanding away from horror would actually kill this channel. Like James says, horror is what he knows, and his enthusiasm and passion is what makes this channel special. Covering something he's barely or not at all interested in would lack that, and viewers would notice. And with James and Chelseas work ethic, they would burn out pretty fast that way. Also, I don't think most other genres lend themselves to this format as well. He often says how the Purge movies are a chore to get through because of the huge number of background kills and boring kills like people just getting shot. That describes a huge chunk of action movies - which isn't a critique, that's just the genre. The format would have to change to make that interesting.
@@DerMoerpler Yeah and that's why i wouldn't wanna see that cuz i don't want to watch videos where the creator clearly isn't intrested in the subject matter
Thanks for doing this so much James! I know MCU isn’t your thing but I’m so happy with how respectful you were to us MCU fans and this kill count was great!
Hey, huge Marvel fan here who is also a big appreciator of classic horror movies. This movie was amazing. The cinematography was beautiful, the music did a great job at setting the mood (the credits song was so good), the actors were amazing and I even loved the script itself. I hope Marvel allows directors to take more creative liberty like this in the future. It seems like, recently, the smaller marvel project (like this one, Loki and Moon Knight) are doing so much better in terms of writing and just overall quality and entertainment value, then the actual movies. Side note: I was so hyped when Man- Thing showed up, I was not expecting him at all. Side note pt. 2: Werewolf by Night's full name is Jack Russell. Like the dog. I was so amused by this when I was younger.
Really appreciate them covering this. I’ve always really wanted dead meat style breakdowns of marvel movies but the expectation for them to eventually do them was never there. This was a fun one off!
This is probably the most Out Of Left Field Kill Counts that I’ve seen on this channel, I genuinely never expected James to make a Kill Count of Werewolf By Night
Michael Giacchino: one of the most prolific composers currently working, who composed The Batman, the MCU Spider-Man movies, Incredibles, Ratatouille, Zootopia, Rogue one and more. James: "yeah he did Coco and Lost" 😅
I was shocked to see how dark it got with some of the kills. I knew it was darker but like cmon…it’s the MCU. I was pleasantly surprised and I would absolutely love more projects in the MCU like this
Another great Kill Count! And I'm a huge fan of the MCU! Barasso's kill was so cool and well-choreographed. Falling onto an angled blade then pulled away to slice his throat. Chef's kiss.
Ted (Man Thing) is possibly the coolest thing in this movie. i mean.. good lord does he look cool in B&W, Color and as a prop/suit! I kind of hope we see him again.
I thought I was going to miss this since I wasn't too interested in the Werewolf by Night story. But you showed me Man-thing being in it and now its a must watch.
Watching James cover a Marvel movie is like when you see your best friend hanging out with someone new. Still I'm glad Marvel's expanding in genre as more horror from them would definitely get me interested more.
I love the Man-Thing. One of my favorite Marvel characters. He's dead on accurate. And even better he was practical with little cgi touch up, which was so awesome.
I was so excited to see that you were Kill Counting the Werewolf by Night special presentation!!! I remember in a few older podcasts, you and Chelsea talking about music being diegetic in movies. As a music major, it made me so excited to see Michael Giacchino do it 3 times in the special. He’s such a prolific composer and apparently one hell of a director as well.
Low-key want to make a horror movie just so James and the team can do one of these. (Hopefully it would include lines of him saying that he actually likes it too😂) One day maybe. One day! This was another great video and a surprisingly fun special. Just saw it yesterday
The attention to detail in this film is amazing, love the look of the Werewolf, and the productions consistent attempt to use practical effects whenever, well, practical. Any homage to original "The Wolf Man" is just beautiful.
8:50 Both man-thing and swamp thing were heavily inspired by the creature from the black lagoon as well so they were both basically told their characters were already ripoffs of something else
Elsa Bloodstone is my favorite Marvel character, and the fact that she's ingrained in the supernatural and monster side of Marvel makes it the best of both worlds for me. When I got the notification for this kill count I nearly died of excitement!
The info you shared about Kirk R Hatcher literally made my entire day. I love the muppets and I love Star Trek and knowing his role in both is so sentimentally heartwarming❤
This is an awesome Halloween gift. Thanks James. I didn't know if you were ever going to cover Werewolf by Night because I remember you saying that you wouldn't cover any marvel projects but I'm glad that Werewolf By Night convinced you otherwise so Thanks for this. Happy Halloween
As someone else have said in the comments, it's nice to notice how Jack only killed guards, while Elsa killed the hunters (apart from the double kill by Man-Thing). Shows not only that she isn't a "damsel in distress", but that she didn't get the bloodstone by default - she earned it.
Never thought I'd see the day but it was great. Would definitely love if more superhero horror stuff got covered on the channel. But steering clear from the normal superhero movies is a good idea.
7:18---he was also Leonard Nimoy's assistant during the making of STAR TREK 4 and was also a sound editing tech (the song played during that iconic is also written and sung by him as well)
I just want to say this channel is amazing and I have been watching it since I was about six or seven, I’m now thirteen (in April) and I’m so happy that this channel is still making videos
When I first saw this, I was blown away. Never in a million years did I think Marvel would go this route. Truly 2 of my favorite worlds colliding. It really comes across as a love letter to the genre and the attention to detail is truly what I love the most about it.
The dude at @10:53 in the video is Erik Beck former host of Backyard FX on Indymogul. Dude inspired a bunch of amateur filmmakers and it’s cool to see him do well.
Never expected James to cover a Marvel movie/tv show. I absolutely loved the episode and would've liked this to be a whole season unlike She Hulk. The acting, score and the creepiness inspired by old films absolutely one me over the minute I started watching Werewolf By Night.
At 11:30 where James say "That's gonna leave a cigarette burn", you can see the cigarette burn on the top right corner happen. Awesome secret acknowledgement.
Im a huge Comic book movie fan and the MCU so i like it a lot. Makes sense that you wont cover them. This is a horror channel, i was never expecting you to delve into that realm of genre.
15:20 sidenote for any viewers watching this after October 20th, 2023: there is, actually, a color version that'll be released on Disney+ on October 20th, which if you're interested in seeing, you can stream it starting on that date. just hoping they retain all the blood, guts, and carnage onscreen...

7:46 - Liorn
10:00 - Jovan
13:41 - Guard
14:08 - 2 Guards
14:31 - Barasso
14:43 - 5 Guards
15:11 - Azarel
16:09 - Verussa
17:01 - James A. Janisse
As a horror and a MCU fan, this was a blessing.
Agreed
Ye
I was not expecting werewolf by night. This is a nice surprise especially since I did watch and pretty much enjoyed it
The full reveal of the werewolf is by far my favorite scene and I'm so happy they went with black and white to get away with doing gory kills
Nothing beats a Friday Afternoon Kill Count! James is such an amazing presenter it's actually insane. ♥️
It's 9AM where I'm at. It must be even better getting this notification for you! Though, we're all stoked for another Kill Count regardless.
i loved they kept giving hints he was a werewolf even before he sits on ground he does the dog turn in circle can see the love they had with the special
"Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you." -Friedrich
Seems like the family in this movie didn't really pay attention to ol' Freddy's insight.
god i wish more people talked about the cast crew and teams that work to make the show a reality. I've been watchng and consuming MCU content for years and I'm so hyped that you covered this and went into as much detail as you did. Wish more content creators showed the love to the backghround peeps like you have
This does deserve a Kill Count video after a huge success on Disney+, and getting a lot of kills for a horror special on Halloween.
I'm a marvel/mcu fan. I loved Werewolf by Night. It was an amazing tribute to the old monster movies even with the werewolf makeup
I have a handful of old issues with Werewolf by Night but for sure it was the 'old horror movie fan' in me that was loving it.
Honestly, I really appreciate it when someone just acknowledges that they just aren't into certain things, and don't have to justify that disinterest by trying to say it absolutely sucks and it's the fans who are wrong for liking it. Some things just don't click with people, and that's fine.
Yeah, too many people have to justify not liking something by badmouthing it.
James did it right. He doesn't hate the MCU, it's just not his thing.
"Now that's killing two birds with one bloodstone" you're brilliant James!
He did do the mortal kombat kill counts at one point tho...
@@robinabueg9445 your point? he also did jurassic park. neither franchises that are horror, but horror adjacent.
@@robinabueg9445 They are horror adjacent
Werewolf By Night was an amazing special and i'm pretty surprised but also really happy that you did a kill count on this!!
Fun Fact: the seen when Man-Thing was chasing Elsa was a reference to Avengers specifically the seen when Hulk was chasing Black Widow.
I’m both glad to see you cover this, and to see Man Thing be introduced to the MCU
Michael Giacchino: one of the most prolific composers currently working, who composed The Batman, the MCU Spider-Man movies, Incredibles, Ratatouille, Zootopia, Rogue one and more.
James: "yeah he did Coco and Lost" 😅
I know you're young, Ben, but Giacchino became majorly famous from Lost and won an Emmy for it. And Coco is relevant because of Bernal. Eat it!

😂😂😂😂😂
It's worth the watch! Especially at like 50 minutes
Seeing Man-Thing just be chill and badass was actually so fucking cool.
Watching James cover a Marvel movie is like when you see your best friend hanging out with someone new. Still I'm glad Marvel's expanding in genre as more horror from them would definitely get me interested more.
I love man thing being called by his former name in this, his characterization in this movie is great
October has been historic highest kill count longest episode A previously banned episode And a marvel project
Wow, I didn't think of it that way! Good call!
Also I what if marvel zombies I think it’s episode five it’s definitely horror

YES!!!!
This was actually a shockingly enjoyable special with some sick kills. I hope we get more stuff like this from marvel.
Rumor is we're getting a Ghost Rider one soon
Props to James for covering it before TVSins/Honest Trailers/ Pitch Meeting could
The trinity
I’m genuinely glad Man Thing is finally getting some recognition
I love the Man-Thing. One of my favorite Marvel characters. He's dead on accurate. And even better he was practical with little cgi touch up, which was so awesome.
I thought he was CG throughout
I was so excited to see that you were Kill Counting the Werewolf by Night special presentation!!! I remember in a few older podcasts, you and Chelsea talking about music being diegetic in movies. As a music major, it made me so excited to see Michael Giacchino do it 3 times in the special. He’s such a prolific composer and apparently one hell of a director as well.
The most unexpected Kill Count episode ever, now i have high hopes for a Blade trilogy Kill Count
It’s awesome to see Ted get representation in a film and he looks stunning
Low-key want to make a horror movie just so James and the team can do one of these. (Hopefully it would include lines of him saying that he actually likes it too😂) One day maybe. One day! This was another great video and a surprisingly fun special. Just saw it yesterday
The attention to detail in this film is amazing, love the look of the Werewolf, and the productions consistent attempt to use practical effects whenever, well, practical. Any homage to original "The Wolf Man" is just beautiful.
The fact that man thing is an actual suit makes it so much better, i love it
Happy halloween everyone!
8:50 Both man-thing and swamp thing were heavily inspired by the creature from the black lagoon as well so they were both basically told their characters were already ripoffs of something else
After a couple of months I have finally burned through the oldest to newest play list. Thanks for all your good work.
Elsa Bloodstone is my favorite Marvel character, and the fact that she's ingrained in the supernatural and monster side of Marvel makes it the best of both worlds for me. When I got the notification for this kill count I nearly died of excitement!
I do hope for your sake that she’ll show up in an actual movie to confirm the canocity of this special
The info you shared about Kirk R Hatcher literally made my entire day. I love the muppets and I love Star Trek and knowing his role in both is so sentimentally heartwarming❤
As a comic fan and a horror fan I'm glad this special is getting the love it deserves.
A good choice, and I love how Kill Counts go into details about the behind the scenes of these awesome projects, and the MCU is a great choice ❤
I swear these kill counts are becoming unexpected now and I love it keep it up James!
Can We just appreciate what this man has done for us making awesome kill counts for our favorite movies for free 😃
I don’t know about you but I would never pay to hear somebody review a movie I already said or planning on seeing😂
Amazing work as always and what a surprise of a movie to cover!
Never thought I'd see the day but it was great. Would definitely love if more superhero horror stuff got covered on the channel. But steering clear from the normal superhero movies is a good idea.
Well he did Brightburn a while back
7:18---he was also Leonard Nimoy's assistant during the making of STAR TREK 4 and was also a sound editing tech (the song played during that iconic is also written and sung by him as well)
I just want to say this channel is amazing and I have been watching it since I was about six or seven, I’m now thirteen (in April) and I’m so happy that this channel is still making videos
Yes! This special was such a treat and I want more people to watch it! It deserves recognition
17:04 I’m assuming zoran played the wolf before the numbers
I’m so happy he mentioned that one of the hunters looked like David Bowie, I said the exact same thing when I watched it!
When I first saw this, I was blown away. Never in a million years did I think Marvel would go this route. Truly 2 of my favorite worlds colliding. It really comes across as a love letter to the genre and the attention to detail is truly what I love the most about it.
I stumbled on this page on accident. I am not a fan of horror movies, but I do enjoy the counts and witty commentary. Subscribed after my first watch.
The dude at @10:53 in the video is Erik Beck former host of Backyard FX on Indymogul. Dude inspired a bunch of amateur filmmakers and it’s cool to see him do well.
This was a big treat James I never would’ve expected it. Thank you!
This special was awesome. One of the best newer things on Disney Plus. It should have won a bunch of awards.
Never expected James to cover a Marvel movie/tv show. I absolutely loved the episode and would've liked this to be a whole season unlike She Hulk. The acting, score and the creepiness inspired by old films absolutely one me over the minute I started watching Werewolf By Night.
This is the BEST Marvel thing in recent memory. It's so awesome that we have a film like this that can just exist in its own world and be awesome
We’d never thought it would happen. Marvel now exists in the Dead Meat Cinematic Universe (DMCU)
At 11:30 where James say "That's gonna leave a cigarette burn", you can see the cigarette burn on the top right corner happen. Awesome secret acknowledgement.
Now this is a perfect gate way to horror... maybe not as iconic but definitely worth the watch...
Agreed 💯
8:22 man thing is my favorite marvel character
That's actually his name 8:22
his real name is Ted@@robertwexel
Im a huge Comic book movie fan and the MCU so i like it a lot. Makes sense that you wont cover them. This is a horror channel, i was never expecting you to delve into that realm of genre.
15:20 sidenote for any viewers watching this after October 20th, 2023: there is, actually, a color version that'll be released on Disney+ on October 20th, which if you're interested in seeing, you can stream it starting on that date. just hoping they retain all the blood, guts, and carnage onscreen...
