@@jaylenray9663 oh god please no

This movie rocks and is the best werewolf movie ever made and to say it's a remake is a disservice to all horror movies. The power and the savagery of the wolf is genuinely frightening. It being his dad and what not was actually surprising. And your fans are just insufferable. All they be is yes men and you don't even respond to your comments.
Give me a wolf howl & let’s get to the kills!
14:35
Fun fact: The limbs Del Toro is eating there is actually made of candy! Iirc, the bones were honeycomb and the flesh was licorice! Del Toro requested that they made edible limbs for him to actually eat and chew on, hence why he looks so happy to lick on the bones
Well, now I wanna play a werewolf!
@@ninjabluefyre3815 SAMEE
All for a bite of tasty candy arms!
Hmmmm I love both those
That's just genius!
Another *FUN FACT:* I heard they played a joke on him, someone stole a corpse from the Morgue and cut it up to look like the candy body parts
Del Toro became a Ghoul... He LOVED the meat. Rumor has it that he had people get him more body parts and he didnt care where they came from... (🇧🇪🇱🇦🇹🇪🇩 🇦🇵🇷🇮🇱 🇫🇴🇴🇱🇸) 🤣🐺
i fucking LOVE that James gives every movie a fair shot these days, even if he didn't personally enjoy it. this gets the same treatment that something like the original Child's Play did. you rule, man
Yes like, thanks killing
Except I know what you did last summer 3, and rightfully so
@@thebadger622 true
@@thebadger622 nope, even that film he gives fair praise to the makeup department
@@VALIANTIVY Well, yeah. Even if the Movie is god awful, the Design for the Fisher-Man is great
Fun Fact:
Two different endings were filmed before they went with the ending used in the final film. One ending had Wolf-Larry killing Gwen before she could fire a shot, but the 2nd ending had Gwen successfully shoot Wolf-Larry only to reveal that she's been bitten and now has the Wolf Curse.
*bitten
@@JRandaII
thanks. i fixed it.
I would've loved to see the ending where Gwen shoots Larry when he's transformed only for it to be reveled for her to be bitten and is now a female werewolf.
How come the original boy werewolf from cave in India looks nothing like the Hopkins or Lawrence ? Aha u would think hed resemble one that cursed him
I feel for Benecio del Toro here. He was a huge Wolfman fan and you can tell this was a passion project and there was so much getting in the way of making the film homage he wanted.
He is an incredible actor
@@h.o.2953 It's such a shame critics said this movie was awful when it came out. I really enjoyed it.
It sucks.
I really don't get the hate for this. I absolutely loved this movie and was really hoping it would be the start of Universal's Dark Universe. Well we see how that turned out lol.
@@tonypeppermint5329 Tell me about it.
I wonder if they hired Hopkins because of his role in the 90s Dracula film, which was actually a really great preformance by him, unlike this movie haha
Animation that is told
@@confusion0082 yes
Are You Guys Gonna Make A Video On Him?
Maybe someone had that thought but considering how star power and Hollywood works, I doubt it was the reason. It's like saying they hired Johnny Depp as The Invisible Man because he was also in Sleepy Hollow
Could be that he tried his best “idgaf” act but not in a good way and nobody told him it was bad, or they just sued the 1st take
Might be just me but I felt the rampage through the streets of London was one of the best sequences in a werewolf movie.
No it’s the og 1941 transformation
No it’s when I came out of quarantine and realized I needed to shave
@@cubinator3826 It really wasn't even that cool
naw everyone is wrong the only answer is the “American werewolf in London” transformation where it’s j creepy asf and the scene where he goes into the subway r the best werewolf scene
@@carsonwashere9909 sure I guess so
This was probably some of the most fascinating behind the scenes facts in an episode. Really makes you appreciate how much work goes into films
Huge props to the legend Rick Baker for managing to keep the humanoid aesthetic of the original werewolf whilst giving it a realistic twist.
I genuinely love this movie. I think most of Hopkins' sleepy performance can be boiled down to just making weird choices about the character he was playing. I guess Hopkins wanted to convey that he was cold and calculating, and so it just comes across as emotionless.
Agreed.
I think that was actually the point. He was hiding a whole aspect of himself. I think Hopkins wanted to sell the idea that he found his human form to be dreary, uninteresting, and distasteful. Because he seems to perk up a lot later on in the movie when he's being true to himself, as opposed to hiding himself.
Yes, my thoughts exactly because of how much he "wakes up" once the truth comes out.
I also love this movie and thought Hopkins was great. I've seen this movie multiple times, and I'm not sure how James came to his conclusion, but it is what it is.
I never gave Hopkins performance any thought.. I just figured he's playing the part the way he feels the part should be played.
Like I said; Hopkins is great actor. He was in a ton of movies throughout the 90s and then some... When folks hear that " *Anthony Hopkins* " is in
the movie, everyone and their brothers will want to see this 🤣🐺
Anthony Hopkins played the character just right. Emotionally unavailable, full of contempt, regret, and most importantly, just as he says in the movie, dead inside. He doesn't have a sense of urgency or surprise because he already knew exactly what was going to happen. He knew he killed his son, and when Lawrence arrived, he knew he would end up turning him and he would kill also.
I also thought his acting was deliberate. He portrayed a man that was "quite dead" very well. Although, the line "you're heir to my kingdom lawrence! You've always been heir to my kingdom!" Has such a funny delivery that it makes me crack up. I love this film.
Some people just don't know really GOOD actors shhhhhh🤫🤐
@@Mecha_mage look in my eyes Lawrence you can see Im quite dead...
IKR, especially since Marvel fans know him as Thor's father, Odin
Exactly
"OH even a kiss, oh no not a kiss" James kills me he's so hilarious
At 12:25
Add another number to this killcounts killcount then
Okay I had to pause the damn video and laugh out loud over the "He tries to get himself banned from Xbox live" line at 16:16. Oh man, brought me to actual tears of laughter.
I have to say how much I appreciate the scripts for these Kill Counts. I'm especially noticing what I think are more pop culture connections than usual in this one but the care and effort it takes to make every line entertaining and educational without the need to explain every reference must be exhausting. It's brilliant stuff which is what brings me back to watch these time and again. Sincere thanks for the effort to everyone on the Dead Meat team.
If you turn on the captions, they'll capitalize the pop culture titles they reference and it's easier to spot :)
the Director's Cut was WAY better than the normal version. That made me love this movie.
I know this movie doesn’t get a lot of love, but I’ve always really liked it. Glad to see that it’s getting some spotlight.
Me too. I was a huge werewolf fan as a kid and when this came out when i was a young teen, I adored it. Also, I like the music and thought the slower pace kinda fit the Victorian setting. I dunno. I have the unrated version and rewatched it for the count. Still love it.
I legit can't think of anything that would make people hate this movie, is a perfectly serviceable violent horror movie.
Is not scary and the story is just there- but the acting is decent and the special effects aren't cheesy or anything like that. Is honestly one of my favorite wolfman movies
I loved this movie.
Glad I'm not alone in saying this is actually one of my favorites
Agree
One of the best werewolves to me was “Dog Soldiers” I expected nothing from it and ended up loving it
yeah thats a really good one!
That movie is amazing
Some fun facts is that the werewolves were played by circus artists
And the punch to the superior officer when he was tied to the bed was supposed to be only one punch, a fake one, but the actor accidentally punched him for real, and before he could react the officer's actor did an improv asking him to "punch harder", then of course now was a fake punch
Bruh I thought me and my mom were the only ones that loved that movie. It is a good one but a true underrated werewolf movie in my opinion is Stephen kings silver bullet originally titled cycle of the werewolf in its novelette form
What a throwback. Would love that to be covered.
Same. Alfred from Gotham was good there)
I've seen this movie probably 10 times and it has NEVER disappointed. I love it.

@@BlahBlahWoofWoof12 Ah I see.
Yes
Yes!
Watching this Kill Count made me love and appreciate this film more because of the behind the scenes of it and the passion going into it. I loved the Wolfman look and to see the behind the scenes on it made me appreciate that aspect of the film even more. I also always loved how this wasn’t a modern day film like the original film was with it taking place during the Victorian era it really made it feel like it could fit into the other universal monster movies from back in the day.
I’m really annoyed that he’s censored out the gory kills. His older videos hadn’t done that. Has RUclips really gotten that restricting?
@@GreatOldOne9866 in short: yes 😂
@@GreatOldOne9866 yes its gotten so bad where u have to censor fatalities on mk youtube vids
The cyclist ducking under the crane at 21:15! That's some brilliantly organized chaos right there.
Wait, did she say that they can only be released by someone who loves them at 8:24? So that makes them even harder to stop. How terrifying would it be if werewolves were actually real and would rampage like this? The Wolfman is already pretty OP from a physical standpoint. The speed, power, and durability, surpass basically anything and makes it top of the food chain, but then you have to love the person who is a werewolf to stop them for good. And then, adding to the difficulty, you have to use silver bullets or somehow be able to set it on fire and decapitate it.
50 cal.
God damn.
Besides the speed strength and ferocity of the beast there's also the strangely sadistic side of the wolf that takes glee in killing all the people during the hunting scene in the woods
I think it does a good job showing how dangerous something with animal instincts with human intent can do.
Does that mean that Larry Talbot actually still loved his father? And also, god forbid an incel ever becomes a werewolf. Nobody loves them.
@@davidfrey08 I feel that, somewhere deep down, he still did love his father. Kind of hard to have no love for a parent, even a crappy one sometimes.
I never thought about someone who is not loved by anyone becoming a werewolf. They would be a monster in more ways than one.
This film is immensely underrated, need a sequel 🙏
Hugo Weaving as the Wolfman in the sequel would have been awesome
Yeap, it could be Hugo Weaving using his Lycanthrapy to hunt down London killer known as Jack the Ripper. Who may or may not be human.
I highly doubt that since James did mention that the movie bombed at the box office so a chance of a sequel is really thin.
I gotta say I really like how this has elements of Werewolf of London, The Wolf Man and An American Werewolf in London, it’s like they took bits from the 3 most influential werewolf movies to make something that’s mostly new
And Mary Poppins…don’t forget
I don't know why, but the delivery on "whatever did it, was big, had claws, and didn't mind a load of buckshot" is so good. My favorite single line from the movie
Does anyone else rewatch kill counts that they have already watched just for the commentary the kill counts for Halloween kills and better watch out are so damn good I've literally watched them both like 6 times each love his jokes such a good commentator I can't wait for the kill counts to come out each week
I've binged every episode enough to have most of them memorized, especially the Friday the 13th recounts. 😂 The Jason Lives recount is probably my favorite episode of all time.
I love the saw kill counts. Especially saw 3 with slow ass mother f'n Jeff! I love it so much lol.
Yep!!!
The Better Watch Out kill count is so good. It has cozy vibes
Around the hollidays i always rewatch old kill counts. Dont event know why... just feels like sweet holiday vibe :D
I like how James rips on movies but also gives credit where credit is due.
Also did the audio cut out for anyone else when he said “Good thing there’s a carriage full of cops who are willing.”?
Happened to Me too
This movie is symbolic, the fight between Lawrence and his Father speaks words, when his father tore off his clothes showing that he is no longer part of humanity but a true monster. While Lawrence keeps his clothes on showing that he is still part of humanity...
The amount of references in this movie killed me. “All dogs go to heaven” was 100% the best one😂
26:57 Werewolf Goomba-stomp through the roof!
This werewolf moments in this movie scared the shit out of me when i was either 10 or 11 and i had a fear of werewolves.
Now for some bizarre reason in my late teens I find werewolves cool and i can appreciate this movie (most of it) for giving me the sense of being terrified.
This is exactly me
Omg I was the same! Hadn't seen much horror and thought I'd give it a go. The jump scare of that goblin kid at the end of the bed gave me nightmares 😆
Despite its few flaws, I absolutely love this film, the werewolf is my second favourite after Kessler, and this was the last movie I went to see on the cinema with my grandad before he passed away, who was a huge wolfman 1941 fan and who also got me into horror, so to me this movie is so sentimental
this channel is quite literally how i find good horrors to watch, i watch like 1-2 kills and watch it if it seems interesting/good
This is honestly one of my favorite werewolf movies. It does have its downsides but I just love the leads performance and the effects
hey James, the audio cuts out at 22:34 and doesn't come back until 22:44. I have refreshed about 5 times and it has happened every time. Just wanted to give you a heads up.
That's odd, I watched this episode earlier and there was no audio cut.

22:23 - Where my sound at? James you sneaky sneak!
This movie is the perfect reflection of the time in which it was made. Messy production, uneven effects that are great when good but eye-rolling when not, some performances that leave you scratching your head while others shine through, and an absolutely killer gothic setting… I really enjoyed it :-D
Did anyone else have an audio cut from 22:34-22:45?
I'm wondering if they did in over copyright claims
@@Stamp3d3 they did
This movie is so beautiful, I cant stop thinking about the visuals of it. The atmosphere it gives off too. And the Wolfman is designed perfectly
This was the first R rated movie my parents took me to see when I was a kid, I love this movie so much and yes some of the performances were bad, but Del Toro was so great in it, the effects, and score of this film are absolutely fantastic. This movie is everything a Werewolf fan would want in the gore department it will always hold a special place on my heart.
It’s insane to me realizing James has been a part of my life for a huge portion of my life. Thanks for making us all horror movie nerds❤️
I really love this movie. It came out around the time when I started getting into horror movies so it has a special place in my heart
I always loved this movie, it's so much fun. Werewolves are my favourite monsters so I've got some bias. Not a lot of werewolf movies with this kind of budget behind them, even with its problems it's easily one of the more notable werewolf films. Also, the director's cut is definitely better, the theatrical version doesn't do the characters justice.
Gotta say, as someone with a passion for special effects, I LOVE seeing it when effects artists are properly recognized for their craft.
I just rewatched this and remembered the “dust off the Cut Comparison” line. DOOOOO IIIIT
DO IT.
I loveedd the CC for so many reasons lol, I’d love to see it come back and see the Army of Darkness comparison
“Before the Silly Bobbeh”
I love this part so damn much

13:58 can't say I expected James to say a fursuit is a work of art...
I love horror movies, but as I grow up I find myself not having the time to enjoy these movies like I use to. The way you explain movies and just talk about them brings joy, plus I can watch a 2 hour movie in the few mins. Keep up the good work! I appreciate it!
22:34-22:45 has no audio for me. Did that happen to anyone else?
Everyone else, see the description.
I love Del Toro’s performance, dude is just slowly swaggering through the entire thing.
Really would love that cut comparison. Really dig the director’s cut
Super underrated remake imo. One of my favourite werewolf portrayals ever.
I remember going to the theater to see this. This movie isn’t perfect, but man I love this movie. I’m a sucker for werewolf movies and I can say I’ve seen this one at least a dozen times.
10:56 "lawrence tells telld gwen she cant wait until the edge of tomorrow" 😂 nice one

Derbyshire is pronounced DAR-be-shur, one of the UK's many confusingly pronounced place names
Love ya James!
Always love kill counts; glad to finally see some love for this movie, or at least some recognition of what it was trying to do! Anyone else notice a random lack of audio/eng-subtitles around 22:34 - 22:45? Is this due to a copyright strike warning?
yep
I was looking for this comment. I wonder why no one else is talking about it. I thought it was just my phone.
In case you're wondering what the lines were before the claim, here it is:
JAMES: ...so good thing there's a carriage full of cops are more than willing.
ABERLINE: If you see Talbot, don't get caught in a conversation. Shoot him. And kill him. On site.
@@quoteonquoteclub9711 what would it be a copyright for? It’s literally just dialogue, no music. He HAS DIALOGUE in this movie that WASN’T muted lol, so how does that even make sense?
hopkins enjoyed this, and heres a quote from an interview about how he played the character:
"So I thought well I'll play it like an, a quite, a much quieter man, based on someone that I knew when I was a little boy. He was an old farmer who was kind of eccentric and he used to come to my father's bake house. My father would give him stale bread to feed his pigs, you know. And I used to follow him, he was fascinating. We, all the kids, built up this fantasy about him that he was a demon or something. He was just a harmless old man, he didn't speak very much. So I based my character on him, and on the coldness-there's one line in the script when I say to Benicio Del Toro, I say 'by the way, I'm sorry to-your brother's body was found in a ditch, on the priory road. Do you have the right clothes for the funeral?' So cold. And I liked that about him. So I pulled that coldness right through the character. But he's not particularly crazy or bad or anything, he's just eccentric and distant and ice cold"
edit: if he hadnt played it like the guy he knew, it would have been better
I was waiting for you to do a Kill Count for the Wolfman 2010.
Ik a lot of people didn’t like this but I freaking love this movie
Well you're not alone. I love this movie too
Yeah, it may not have been super well done, but it's a fun watch! I also enjoyed it
I’ve been waiting a long time
This movie is a personal favorite. I know it's not perfect but man do I have fun watching it.
Same here, buddy.
18:47. Loved this "Stage Fatality" reference here.
Honestly, this is the one kill count I rewatch regularly
I loved this movie. I think it's underrated. I think Hopkins just played his role as John being an extremely cold man.
That’s not him acting poorly James, that’s LITERALLY how Hopkins acts lol, that’s his style, and his tone, in EVERYTHING!
I thought Anthony acted fantastically. I felt like he perfectly portrayed a man who disdained his barely remaining humanity, and a father who could barely contain his contempt for his son who left him. When he's human, he barely feels like he's alive, everything seems dull. But you can see moments of excitement come into his eyes whenever something exciting is happening, like the first time people try to take Lawrence, or the couple times he talks about his monster side.
"Several people lose limbs but not their lives..." If they survived they would have become werewolves too. I think it's safe to say they died.
Plus also good luck surviving an amputation back then, better off a goner.
I just wanna say thanks to everyone who worked on this video. I had to be in my first lockdown for something actually threatening today, so I'm just tired and sad and scared and all of those other shitty emotions, and I really needed this today.
10:07 …The Hat brigade. Here’s a hat, and another hat, The hats get stupider in every shot.
I really love the thorough incorporation of behind the scenes clips and info! It makes the Kill Count so much more entertaining and informative, and it lets me enjoy Kill Counts way more for movies I've already seen. Man, I love this channel.

1:25 don't you dare talk bad about such a masterpiece
Oh man, I enjoyed the hell out of this weird little movie. Wolfman tore through people like they're made of ground beef.
Loving the new set guys. It looks much more fitting for the content. You always tried to spruce up the background but you could tell it was just a wall with a cubby. I love to see the growth in the channel. I’ve been watching a long time and this channel deserves all the upward momentum it’s getting.
I unironically love this version
Its sad to know that the movie didnt do well since i really loved it specially the transforming scene! i remember thinking it was not only scary but cool at the same.
26:05 that look on his face gives me goosebumps
I loved the werewolf effects and Benico. The gore ,kills ,and designs to me were so underrated and amazing. Yes this movie has it's flaws but I'd just watch it for the gypsy camp and asylum transformation. One of the reasons I liked it as well was the camp. End werewolf fight, the wolfman tossing the doctor out the window after he had made the statement about flying 😂
Kill count got the commentary spot on . Nice you recognized it's flaws and missteps but appreciated the time and artistry of the FX and Rick bakers teams work.
14:48 oh man it’s Loki and Odin all over again!
Joe Jonston also did October Sky after Jumanji and before Jurassic Park 3. October Sky shows a 19-year-old Jake Gyllenhaal playing Homer Hickam, A NASA engineer and author. The movie is great by the way, my teacher Mr. Buchman showed me this last month and I think it's pretty cool. Jake Gyllenhaal did a good job playing Homer Hickam in his high school days
Thanks for going in depth with all the behind scenes footage, James. You can really tell that was really passionate about this project and it's such a shame that's been slammed so hard. Hopefully, in years to come it'll stand as a modern cult classic
this movie gave me so much jumpscare and i love the casting
I’m happy James talked about the reappraisal of this movie… I saw this in highschool and thought it was hot garbage, just gore for the sake of gore with no engaging characters to speak of but I just watched it again recently and have a different feel.
I definitely wish it was better written and I think Del Toro and Hopkins acting is a bit too subtle but he’ll it entertaining, a lot of blood and action for horror and I have grown to love the gothic tone, kinda reminds me of sweeny todd a bit. In terms of werewolve genre James is right “you could do a lot worse”
15:00 "Dar-bee-shear" is closer to how locals would say it.
Was hoping at 26:26 he would have said “ shoots him thru the harrr”
"No modern touches." Beyond paved roads and street signs I mean.

Dude Cat In The Hat is a GOATED movie
I remember watching this when I was younger and thinking it was so dope. Also no need for them apologies man, y’all keep up the killer work👌🏼
Uncalled for Cat in the Hat slander, It is a cinematic masterpiece!
i heard James say “Elden Ring looking place” and i legit said out loud “O, Death. Become my Blade, Once More.”
I absolutely loved this remake, i watch it all the time!!! Finding out more of the behind scenes and back stories makes me love it even more!
Hopkins probably just wanted to play a Werewolf, which makes sense when his best performance in this movie is when he's in werewolf form
My new favourite pastime is watching Kill Count movies before the episode comes out and trying to predict what jokes James will make. This time I got Emily Blunt dressed as Miss Peregrine and Wolfman Fight! (air horns)
"Maybe make this a closed casket funeral" 😂😂😂
Will you be doing "An American Werewolf In London" for the next kill count? (since you're currently on a roll with Werewolf movies) I'd love to see a kill count on that film!
