It's a good affordable lvlp. You can paint a whole car with it using a 20 or 30 gallon. I mainly use mine for basecoat with the cup. I've started saving my pps cups for clear and primer. Cleaning base isn't that bad. I prefer my Iwatta W400 lv2 1.3 for clear, but the Spray it can do a factory peel job
You're the best! I'd looked at lvlp guns so much, I'd confused myself; you cleared that right up. Thanks!
Sometimes manufacturer's have no clue. These two guns are essentially the same gun but the Eastwood was marketed as a hvlp? The sprayit was listed as a lvlp? So go figure. I think lvlp is what it truly is. Appreciate the support!
Now I've seen you and the UPK get nice finishes with the Spray-It! Very nice. I use mine for high build primer duty with a 1.8 needle. Interesting, I have the LT100 also and never thought to examine them together. Could've saved a little cash and got another Spray-It instead.. Live and learn.
I never would have payed attention to the sprayit if it wasn't for a subscriber. I think you can pick this gun up at Walmart in the $45 range. Appreciate the support!
whre you find the needles for it?
Looking for a starter spray gun this seems perfect thank you for the experiment!
I bought the Sprayit after watching this. Thank you for your tips. Next is a 20 gal compressor.
No problem, appreciate the support!
I’ve been searching for a comparison of these two guns for weeks. Awesome video!
Awesome appreciate the support!
This spray gun is a rebadged Rongpeng R500. A Chinese company which makes several models of spray guns and air tools. The Sprayit company no longer manufactures spray equipment.
Make sense stamped R500 on the gun. Appreciate the info !
What adapter did you use for your pps cups? What’s part number and where did you get it.
Thank you
Nice. I sometimes close my fan a little. And drop some psi. But I've never used that gun before. I always struggle when the temperature changes. Digging your channel bro
That works well too, appreciate the support!
I appreciate your info. Great job. Hopefully I can get this gun. My compressor is a 2 hp, 20gal. old style (green) Craftsman. Better than the new junk (red) they sell. I look at your videos practically daily.
I appreciate you checking out the videos. Thanks for the support!
Great video Chris as always.
I wanted this gun as soon as I saw your first video in the Eastwood LT100, but was out of stock for a while. After some research I found these are the same:
Summit racing, Spray it, Aero pro, LT100, all made by Rongpeng China. However I am now considering the Italian ANI R160Q.
If possible please test this out, and the R500 with a small CFM compressor.
Thanks again!
I'll look into it. Appreciate the support!
Got the ANI 160 great gun , it will run off my 25ltr hyundai compressor. I use it when doing 2-3 panels
Great job very informative thanks
Appreciate the comment and support!
I got two of thoses guns, i started my paint jobs few years ago, and its a very great tool.
The problem is the lvlp system, you expend more time painting that if you use a hvlp spray gun.😅
It's true It's a bit slower. Not so much if you spray closer to the panel, but alot of painters don't feel comfortable with that
@@GarageNoise i painted a metallic blue VK passat today.
It takes me 3 hours for the best finish with the sprayit...
A few dodge ram pickup took me 6 hours, and with the hvlp devilbiss 4...
As you say, depending the painter.😅
Saludos de México :)
Hi, is the 30 psi setting on the gun itself while the trigger is fully pressed? What is the pressure gauge setting on the compressor .
great video, I have the eastwood pro and it seems to work just as well.
Great job Chris. I also have the Sprayit and it work well. Thanks
Thank's brother appreciate the support!
I have used Acme Finish First a couple times, both the FC 720 high solids and the FC 740 universal production clear with good results. I would say for the price its one of the best low cost clears. They make an FC 770 euro clear now too that like most euro clears is high solids and makes just a little under 2gal as a kit. Never tried it though
Ok intresting, thank's for sharing I may have to check them out and do a review. Appreciate the support!
@@GarageNoise ok that would definitely be a review i would like to watch and be excited to see as well
Do you have a tutorial video on setting up air lines from the air compressor? I’ve watched almost all your videos and don’t recall seeing one.
Thank you for all your help!
sorry no, I do not. appreciate the support though!
Straight out of Oklahoma. Nice.
I do mobile work and have an HF compressor that only generates about 6cfm. Been using regular guns (9+ cfm req.) for years. I just ordered one of these. Really interested in how it works. Thanks for the video.
I think you'll have less fluctuations. Let me know how it works! Appreciate the support!
@@GarageNoise will do! And, I really do like your videos. Never too experienced to learn something.
@@sealisland1 appreciate it brother!
Great video
Thank's bud!
I've used the Sprayit gun with a 4 gallon compressor intended to run a roofing nailgun and it kept up just fine. So just about any non oilless compressor should run it fine.
What air compressor do you use without oil? I'd love to know!
@@chris01479 Most compressors have an oil sump like a gas engine with an oil slinger attached to a connecting rod or the crank. It flings oil around the crank case to lubricate everything.
Oil less, AKA oil free compressors have no oil sump. They use sealed bearings and have a plastic or plastic coated piston riding in a chromed cylinder. Oil less compressors are louder, run way hotter, have very short duty cycles and they usually last only a few months longer than the manufacture's warranty.
@@THX..1138 Thanks, I'm going to get oil compressor if it will go quiet when I spray on it. You haven't say how many litre of air compressor you have got??
@@THX..1138 Do you use 24l or 50l compressor?
I have heard that you can use up to 5cfm to spray on whole car using with 24l compressor??
Great video I’ve been learning some much from you I would like to say thanks I’m go to buy that paint gun can you do a video on air hose size for painting thanks again for all your help
Standard 3/4 air hose is a good size. I get mine at harbour freight. Thank's for commenting! appreciate the support for the channel!
which gun and brand for silver metallic and what tip size thank you.
I bought an R500 but ran into 2 problems.
1 when spraying i felt air bubbling in the guns gravity cup(sounded like a bong)
2 i used a gravity strainer/filter between the cup and gun but this caused the spray pressure to fluctuate a lot. So i removed the strainer and this worked.
since i had no other the gun available amd my base coat was mixed already i ended up using the gun anyway for base/clear and its is great.
not sure how to fix those problems.
I'll recheck one more time before returning it and getting a replacement
👍
The FC710 is great product. But FC720 might have been a better option in weather over 100🤷🏻♂️
Your right!
Thanks!
Your welcome brother!
They make a clear for hot temperatures from tamco it's on the expensive side unless you're getting a quart of it to try make for 100+ and dries 20 percent slower I've used slow activator insmy inflatable spray booth and it was still drying to fast haven't used this stuff just yet got a gallon myself
Intresting, would be curious to how much of a difference it would make. I could have maybe used an extra slow activator, if it was available for finish one but at those temps Not sure if there's anything that could be done . Thank's for the support!
Wanna know one even better and cheaper then that? The Burisch GTR500, not exactly sure if they are available in the US. Oh and it’s also lvlp
interesting I'll check it out. appreciate the recommendation!
Chris, couldn't you add a little more reducer to give the paint more time to lay flat? I don't spray in desert temps thanks for sharing.
You would think and it make sense but more reducer makes the paint actually dry quicker. The main purpose of solvent is to help paint dry. You need the binder that's mixed with the color to create a good wet bed. Great questions appreciate the comment and support!
Great video 📹 Chris can you give me some advice please I painted my front bumper and the primer high build upol reacted with the 2k paint what was all ready Chris on the bumper I need to take it back to bare plastic is there a quick way mate
Depends how bad it reacted. Sand out the reaction with 320 then put some 2k primer on those areas. Startwith light coats and build it up . Appreciate the support
Chris I want some advice mate
@@GarageNoise chris I have had nothing but trouble with it mate I put some plastic primer on and then 2k high build primer and it just reacted to the white paint underneath so some body shop said needs to go Back to bare plastic
@@ANDY-we7mr sounds like you might have some old enamel paint that's causing it. Taking it down to bare plastic is more work than it's worth if you can get it smoothed out and sealed off from that old paint with primer you shouldn't have a problem applying new paint and clear. The key is to put light coats of primer and build it up .
@@GarageNoise thanks Chris it was a second hand ford focus mk3 front bumper but it was white when I got it painted with 2 pack paint 😀
I bought this gun several years ago as a kit with all of the nozzles option. I painted my kitchen cabinets and the Craftsman air compressor had no problem supplying air to the gun. What do you think of the HF PPS? Is it comparable to the 3M PPS?
I like it , it got the job done no leaks. The way the measurement are set up on the cup seams over complicated and might be a bit confusing to a beginner but other than that no complaints. I order some off Amazon that I'll be testing out soon as well. Appreciate the support!
Great review, although I’ve already purchased two guns, one husky composite HVLP, avg cfm is 4.3. And the black widow hte for clear, Not sure on the CFM on that one, I think it’s 11 at 35 psi, so if I run it at 28-ish would that be less CFMs required? Home compressor is new 29 gal 6.8cfm @ 40ps.
Not doing a whole car, just a hood and two fenders for now
If you use less air pressure. Your still using the same cfm's from the gun but you should have less air fluctuations from your compressor.
I got an LVLP Gun. I have a Porter-Cable Job Boss which is only 4.5 GAL but 3.5-peak-horsepower motor delivers a mass flow rate of 7.8 Standard Cubic Feet per Minute at 40 psi and 6.0 SCFM at 90 psi. Would this work fine for painting one panel or is it too small? Seems to be more powerful than other larger compressors
Yes, that should work fine for what tour doing. Appreciate the comment and support!
@@GarageNoise thank you! I’ll let you know how it goes. Love the videos, very helpful!👍🏻
Got a quick question do u run the filter inside the gun underneath the paint cup. I hear alot of ppl saying u dont need it.
No I don't
@@GarageNoise thanks bro now i know i dont need that and will be removing it
Sprayit 33000 is now $99.00 on amazon
I use 24 liter compressor n 50L
👍
Hey Chris, do you always remove the glass(window) rubber channels, or is that dependent upon the vehicle? I'm painting a 2014 Toyota Tundra door, and wasn't sure if it's common to tape off, or remove before painting.
Thank you
If at all possible remove as much trim and windows as possible less chance of peeling paint. It's not absolutely necessary . Depending on what results you want you may mask up window and some trim. I pretty much remove everything but that all takes time. Appreciate the comment and support!
@@GarageNoise Thank you for that information. I appreciate you responding back like you do.
Have the lt100 want to paint a car what size compressor do I need to get
You need at minimum 6cfms from you compressor.
Hey Chris, what mask respirator you use when spraying 2k paint, and does the paint you use contain ISO isocyanates? Thanks
This is the one I like to use
amzn.to/3PMnXYs
Made by 3m. I believe they all contain some isocyanates, diisocyanate, and various diisocyanates. None of it is good. Appreciate the support of the channel!
Do you think this would be an ok gun for a 3.5 gallon compressor for body panels?
It all depends on how much cfm's the compressor produces. I would say it would be a little small for an overall paint job but possibly ok for a panel. You really want around 20 gallon compressor usually they make about 5-7 cfm's .
How long in between coats of base and clear do you wait until you apply the 2nd and 3rd coats?
About 10-15 minutes depending on Temperature your spraying in. Appreciate the comment and support!
Chris did you used high flow coupler with the sparyit gun and what size compressor did you use ? Just purchased that gun haven't used it yet.
No I used standard coupler. My compressor is a large compressor. It will work with a 20 gallon compressor as long as it produces roughly 5 cfm consistently. I think you'll like . Let me know how you like it. Appreciate the support brother!
Always will support you. Keep putting good content as you always do.
Those look exactly like my Sharpe FX.
👍
Do you take outside work, cause I was wondering what would you charge for a metallic gold with a lot of metallic flakes on a factory gold 01 Lexus GS300 with a body kit?
Yes, I do. It's expensive though. Full paint jobs start at 8k
which air regulators you use with your guns? not much info on that item. i need good decent priced gauge. i have devilbiss, but seems to move sometimes.
I had problems with the devillbis guage myself. I started using harbor freight digital. I've have about five of them I had a couple go bad after awhile so I just replace them since they're inexpensive. I haven't tried one but I've heard good thing about sagola air gauge. Appreciate the support!
Hi Chris, The R500 comes with a small plastic filter that sits inside the male stem of the gun. Do you remove it or leave it there when you spray? Thanks. Danno
Get rid of it brother!
@@GarageNoise Done :) Thanks!
Muy buen video, pero me surge una duda que tanto overspray hay en diferencia con una pistola hvlp o rp??
There is less overspray, with improved transfer efficiency.
Muy agradecido, estoy pensando en adquirir una precisamente para tener menos exceso de rociado del que tengo con mi hvlp, creo que si me animaré por una nuevamente gracias
What did you put in between the door jams and gaps to stop overspray from getting in?
Foam tape
amzn.to/3CKDlSb
@@GarageNoise thanks
@@GarageNoise I was reading the reviews on that foam tape and lots of people were saying it didn’t stick worth a crap, how was the adhesive when you used it?
@@wild8757 I haven't had a problem with it but I make sure the surface is clean. The key is you don't want to stretch it. 3m is probably the best but you pay for it. Appreciate your comment and support!
Is the Aeropro r500 the same gun as the spray it r500
Yes
Did you have any troubles with the spectrum pps system?
Not yet, I like them so far. I found sond similar ones on Amazon that I'm trying out now. Appreciate the support brother!
@@GarageNoise i was looking at the adapter from harbor freight vs the 3m adapter for their 2.0 pps cups. The spectrum looks way longer. I'm debating between the 3m system and the spectrum
Do you like this gun better than the euro pro by astro ?
I won't say better but just as good. If air supply is a concern then this would be the gun. It's more cost effective as well and I'm always about getting the best value for my money. Appreciate you watching an thank's for the support!
I want to buy this gun but can’t find the disposable cups and the correct adapter on Amazon. Can you help?
You want the adapter for the 3m pps 2.0 or the old 3m pps?
@@GarageNoise whatever is least expensive to replace the cups. And which cups to buy that will fit the adapter you suggest. Thank you much.
@@dougsweldingfabrication953 I'll get you that info today.
@@GarageNoise Thank you so much
Wha Pps adapter did you use? Was it a harbor freight or a 3m
you did a courtesy clear coat on the bumper? can you just do that without applying base to an already painted bumper? i was told to sand it down with 1000 grit, apply the new same color base coat and Then clear coat
What brand is ur paint gun....not the eastwood....where do Purchase the gun
Sprayit sp 33000

@@toycoma98 Walmart carries it too .
Do you use 24l compressor with lvlp spray gun? Does it work to make the good finish?? I'd love to know!!!
I use a larger compressor. 60gal the make 16cmf of air. But youcould use a compressor that makes as low as 4-5 cfm's with this gun.
@@GarageNoise How many litres is that can be using with 4-5cfm??
What spray gun do you use?? Is it spray-It?

Y not use the fc720..kick slower..just askin
I just use some fc720 on an overall paint job this weekend. I use the 710 for spot panels. I like both.

@@GarageNoise what do you do if you have mapping after you sand down the clear to recolor do I primer those areas , sorry for all the question I painted it and didn't like the way it looked starting to redo and don't want it to show through. Thanks for all you do what should I do for mapping I sanded down the clear to repaint and I am seeing mapping in the color under the clear or I have went to far in the color in two spots . Any help would be great again thanks
@@jameswilliams8252 doesn't sound like it's necessary to apply primer. If you have mapping you kust need to prep clear for another coat of base and then reapply clearcoat. Try not to sand thru the clear coat.
Did you use a small compressor or a big compressor for this job?
Used a big compressor brother. You know it works with a 20 gallon tho, because I'm subscribed to your channel! keep up the great content and thank for the support!
