If you want a quick fix sure, but if you want to do a good job (and any body repair shop would do the same), you have to repaint the whole part (as if you were to remove that whole panel and replace it)
I wouldn’t describe it as easy, especially for someone with no painting experience, plus there are several items there which the average person may not have, such as a spray gun set up. Great work though, the repair looked flawless❤.
You could see he didn't get all the rust of the repair area. There was still pitting in the metal. You've got to get that gone. Otherwise, the rust will just grow back as it was before. So, a complete waste of time!! Thought it was a small, easy fix!! Ended up painting in colour and clear coateing the whole panel. Hope the inside of the gun wasn't as dirty as the outside and no mask!! A lot of work for a job that won't last and caned red oxcid what was that for, rubbed most of it off .. I hate DIY
When he put the yellow tape as wide around the rust as he did at the start of the video I said "I don't think this video is for me." Little did I know he was just getting started!!! Probably wound up sanding down and painting every car within a 3 block area just to be sure.
This repair last one year max. Bubbling mean rust is also behind the panel. Only thing helps is cut out rusted section and weld new patch there. Don't waste your time for such fixes they don't last. This part/ panel is easily replaceable, just order new panel and paint it to orig color. I know because I have already done this all :). Cheers!

As if the rust was only on the outside. Comes crawling around the edge again after 3 months. And why use rust converters if you then level them mechanically? Or were holes already through?
Having watched this video I saw some mistakes made in this repair and as a professional automotive repair business owner I am just going to point out the most important. First the technician carrying out the repair visually was not wearing dust mark or vapour filter mask, also spraying outside is dangerous for anyone who is not wearing a mask that is close enough to inhale any of the dust, vapour or any other airborne particles present and what with spray gun vapour is airborne I didn’t see that the rest of the car was covered to prevent overspray covering the car making more work in it’s removal.
The methods wasnt perfect... But the end result was pretty darn good tbf 😅 hope you trated the whole arch and behind the panel for rust too, they rot like mad in those areas

I have a similar repair over rear truck wheel. I am using a spray 2k clear can. Would it be better to loose mask around area and spray color then clear coat, then try to eliminate any halo or transition with wet sand? Any ideas, trying to avoid clearing the entire rear. Thanks
Rust should be properly gouged out and the surface indented to allow a decent layer of filler. Most importantly spray waxoil into the panel after finishing! Had there been waxoil in that panel it would not have rusted in the first place.
I think the end result looked good... but the lack of facemask was a little silly and then just making the tyres needing a clean-up could have been avoided.
This is all and good IF the rust begins and remains on the outside of the fender/wheel well. But, as those of us who live on the North-Wet Coast and locations that use copious amounts of salt on their roads know all too well, rust in these and many other areas begins on the inside and bottom edges of fenders et al and is a full-blown cancerous mess by the time the first signs of rust appears!
