I was down in South FL between Christmas and new year and fished two days. There is really good fishing all over the place. I caught largemouth, peacocks, oscars and even a gar. And I also noticed the birds everywhere. I even saw what looked like a tropical bird.
Somebody used to market a Condone thing for your thumb. It was made of a heavy material and slipped on fairly tight. Have you seen them around anymore?
Next time you come down here bring some heavy braid line with a top water frog and cast around those pads. Frog fishing is great here and a lot of fun and you won’t get hung up! 🐸. Great video!🤙🏻🎣
Jerk bait. Watermelon trick worm for Bass. You was 20 miles prob from big cypress preserve. The splits right there on your right. Pass the first two levies and catch em all day. 3 plus all day. I get wore out from fishing so much!! The second levy you can camp on too. Love the Everglades man
Found your channel 3 days ago and subscribed after a few videos. I used to creek fish when I was younger, but went and got geared up to enjoy this type of fishing again. I live in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where we have quite a few creeks to choose from. Having to wait for the creeks levels to go down, they're moving too much to really enjoy walking one down. Thanks for sharing, I love it.
Man, that canal is producing, wish I could fish there. Nice peacock bass, really cool species of fish. Can't believe that fish bent your hook!!! Awesome video. Tight lines 🤘🎣🤙
It’s cool to see the excitement from fishers that come to Florida. As a kid I used to catch those pacers all day really bigs ones! Keep the videos coming!
Loved your Florida videos. It's cool to see someone from the outside come in and fish your spots. Glad you enjoyed your stay and be sure to come down again soon.
I had seen a few of your video but had not subscribe to your channel yet but once I saw that you had a verse at the end of this video I just had to subscribe to your Channel and say thank you for sharing the gospel with so many people that watch your Channel
I've caught several fish over 7lbs. With 8 to 12 inch lizard or snake the big boys like the snakes fishing weedless drag it easy over that pad and bam ! There's nothing in this world like that feeling .
Totally enjoyed the fishing you experienced. You are catching a lot of larger aquarium fish I think which may be why they are there? Florida is so screwed with invasive species all you can do is find a way to enjoy them. Great video!!!
As it was explained to me, unless its marked (private, no fishing, etc) then it's free game. So side of the road, by parking lots or parks are all great areas.
The type of gar that you were missing is alligator gar. They are are hard to hook. Unfortunately we don't have the alligator gar in the Chemung river in Elmira NY where I fish.
On 7:30 min of the video, Which road is that? What is the name of the road? Can you show it better on next video because I think I have the same one. On my road The name is red devil and I don't know where it come from. I have the light version 10-40 Action but it's very very strong. By the way i love your videos. Can you Try to catch another fish, something like chub fish or do you have some other species. Thank you.
Awesome video cfa! I've always wanted to fish for them peacock bass and I've heard that they love top water lures like hula poppers ' rebels and frogs' keep on fishin dude🎣🎣🎣
Love watching your Florida videos. I can't wait for the covid to gets sorted out to start traveling. What highway are you on and where about are you under the bridge??
Where can a man get the famous hellhramite? Are there any smallmouth down there? You might try braided line. A little stronger with the small diameter. Great verse.
Watch out for gators & pythons....best of luck & welcome to Florida. 🐟 the gators will charge out of the water & chase you especially during mating season. 😌
Haven't fished Florida since we moved from there in 83 but seems like the peacock bass are taking over . Not many striped bass or largemouth. Or is it just me
Always hook a fish from the Inside of the mouth if you go from the bottom up through the top they can’t open there mouth to be able to breathe they have to Pump Waterover there gills
Did you get to do any saltwater fishing while you were in Florida? More specifically, were you able to use the helgramite in saltwater and, if so, how did it work? It sure works well in fresh wzter!
Man you were just begging gets a lot better from there that canal has a lot of cool places specially for big peacocks if you ever come back bring a bike and I will take you to a lot of places where you will get a lot of peacocks all different sizes I’m not a guide by the way just love to go out and share and learn from everybody, nice vídeo tight lines
Those oscars are good eating to grew up down there can’t believe those peacock have took over the place there wasn’t the first peacock bass just a lot of largemouth invasive species great video it brung back the good ole days 👍
Question for the ages. I felt that way about flatheads when they showed up in the Susquehanna and the game commission wanted(s) you to destroy them but they are pretty well established now and I doubt recreational fishers will put a dent in the population. I do keep a couple 24 inchers a year because they are delicious. Now snakeheads? Although they are established in some areas, I don't see any positive reason to return them to the water. Super voracious. Plus, they compete with our beautiful native bowfins.
Man I'm so envious of this Florida series. Awesome awesome trip.
Mark Williams hey there come to Miami and I can take you to the Everglades to catch a lot of peacocks (free)

For the bass thumb, put Chapstick on it at bedtime and it will be on the mend in the morning. My wife shared that with me.

I heard that frog lures are great for peacock bass. And good ol hula poppers work great as well

Oscars are an evasive species in the everglades the fish should not have been released back into the ecosystem
Bryan Peterson do you use a mono leader with that setup since mono floats and is a little less visible?
Great video, this place is amazing, you have beautiful fish, Congratulations for your good fishing.
fishing and good fishing.👍

Awesome to see you in my home waters! Just a taste of the Florida craziness. Glad you enjoyed. Hope your thumb recovered!
If you're coming back down, hit me up and we'll take the duck boat out and catch some.
it was awesome, i want to try to do it again in january if i can do it

Next time you are back. Try the canals in Sunrise Florida and Coral Springs Florida. There are some big peacock bass and snake heads.
Fish: I'll make you bleed!
You: I'm fishing! I dont have time to bleed!
going to ana marie island on vacation but I'm gonna have to drive inland now to search for some peacock bass..looks awesome!!!

Very nice Like the Oscars and chiclids, Just a tad to cold in Arizona for them . Thank for sharing ,
Great Video John !! Can you fish any water way down there ?? I see you just pull off of the highway and park. Many Thanks !!
yeah, people were parked everywhere and anywhere

That was a lot of really cool looking fish. Great fishing river. That was a really fishing day. 😊
This ones gonna blow up... I can feel it
i really wish i could have got one of the bigger ones in
Not sure where you’re fishing. I was in Fort Myers for 4 days. The only place I found was a dam wall in a park that I had to pay for. So I didn’t.
Great to see more Florida footage.
Awesome video and traveling to do so and having fun.God Bless.👍😀😊👌🐠
Nice action packed multi-species video buddy! You’ve got to do this annually!
yah thats what i am thinking
That big spotted fish, after the Oscar, with the big caudal spot isn't a bass, is it? I don't recognize it, but it looks more like a cichlid to me.
Crazy that I fish way more that I live in Texas then when I lived in Broward county
Awesome video cfa! I've always wanted to fish for them peacock bass and I've heard that they love top water lures like hula poppers ' rebels and frogs' keep on fishin dude🎣🎣🎣
i tried a few different top water lures with no hits

tamiami
@@CreekFishingAdventures, what city on the Tamiami ?
Man, that gill put in mad work for you. 😂
Wish is was places around me like this. Here you can't fish anywhere in less you own the land the pond or lake is on.
You are correct, same crap in my area
Awesome video! I’d love to catch some of those peacock bass
Really enjoyed seeing your adventures in FL.
Man you did pretty good while down there, definitely should plan you another trip down there sometime. Great video 👍🏻
Nice! I'd love to go down there with my BFS(UL baitcasting) gear, for those fish.
Hey if you are usieng those Z-man ned heads, the hooks on them are crap. Owner and Trokar make much higher quality ones.
Zman ned heads are made for extremely light line like 2#-8#.. if your using anything heavier than that for line it's gonna bend your hooks out😅
yeah i know that now, i do like them on light line
Same with Bass Pro/Cabela's. I think they are crap, too. My Nikko hellgrammite will easily outlast those hooks.
Peacock bass and oscars are both types of cichlids too. They and the mayan cichlid are all from South America
I gotta get me some of those Nikko Hellgramites, are they only available online?
a few stores carry them, mostly online nikko-fishing.com
Bass Pro Shops have a few. I got some last week there, but had to ask for help finding them.
I seen them at bass pro yesterday
Where do you stay at when you take a trip down there! I'm sure you're there for a couple days or more?
Keep up the hard work!
Nice work down there in the sunshine state.
I think the first 2 fish were tilapia.
Tilapia also known as Chinese carp are an invasive species, but are good pan fries! !
I have had my thumb like that before, not a bad injury...lol
Where can a man get the famous hellhramite? Are there any smallmouth down there? You might try braided line. A little stronger with the small diameter. Great verse.
They are easy to find online. Nikko's page is nikko-fishing.com. Amazon also has them, but for some reason, I don't see the junebug color.

Any Snook, Reds, Tarpon or Trout on your trip?
Really enjoy your videos!
Watch out for gators & pythons....best of luck & welcome to Florida. 🐟 the gators will charge out of the water & chase you especially during mating season. 😌
I like my 20 lb braid palamar knot directly to hook or lure I’ll pull trees up with that
All my fishing spots are covered in ice and snow.. Lol.. Love these hard fighting fish 💪💪
Makes me miss the good old days
Im from Daytona and i havent had a chance to travel south to fish for peacock bass. But im now interested in catching oscars now as well!
Caught an Oscar. Watch out you could catch a Felix. ☺️
Haven't fished Florida since we moved from there in 83 but seems like the peacock bass are taking over . Not many striped bass or largemouth. Or is it just me
i caught 3 to 1 peacock to largemouth in this area

no i didnt, i fished this area for 2 days because it was so fun
They are called Patwa or Corobia, very sweet fish but lots o& bones
May GOD continue to grant you Safe Passage!
Grab the peacock bass from the belly.
What stretch of highway is that you’re fishing.. I will be down in that area for 2 days and look for a roadside spot to two?
the road that goes through the everglades
SW 8 Street. Also known as Tamiami Trail. It starts in downtown Miami and continues west through the everglades.
What’s the name of that fishing lure? In your description it says grasshopper, but it looks more like a centipedes
nikko hellgrammite
Great videos man! What color hellgrammite would you say worked best for you down there?
i dont know if one color worked better than another
another great vid John.. Were you off 41 again or along Alligator Alley??
I'd like to know too. Looks like SR 84 west of Markham Park if I had to guess.
yah basically same place as before
What kind a bait did you used?
jerkbaits and Nikko Hellgrammites
Hope you going come back in Florida
Awesome stuff! 👍
I use to live in Florida love watching your video's reminds me of home. Thank you 😃 Do you ever keep any fish to eat?
no
Ok cause I love to fish but I personally don't eat fish, weird right? lol 🤣😃
@@Elizabeth_Rojas not weird at all. I know way more people who catch and release. Lol
@@drumavenger83 Cool good to know I'm not alone lol🤣😂 Thanks 😄🐟😁
Peacock bass??? Since when have they been in FL???
1980's is when they stocked them
5:10 looks like a scale on your hook. Might’ve snagged something
Yah your right
so where is this exactly? what hwy are you next to?
right on the main hwy that runs through the glades, hwy 41

where is this canal? i really need to get on some peacock
basically everywhere in the everglades
Where is this spot at ?? Would love to fish there and take my son
you missed the 2nd one on the big rod bc there was a scale on the hook point. very important to check for scales but keep up the good work
yah i saw that, i guess it was on there from a previous missed fish
Good Lord Brother! How long did you stay in Florida or are you still there? 😁
Thanks for the video and God Bless..
i was there 3 days, and caught a bunch of fish
What's the best hellgramite size to use? 3 or the 4inch?
I use a 3 inch and sometimes cut it down
Those oscars are good eating to grew up down there can’t believe those peacock have took over the place there wasn’t the first peacock bass just a lot of largemouth invasive species great video it brung back the good ole days 👍
Well done 👍
What hooks are you using with the hellgrammite setup?
zman jigheads
I moved down to Florida for a year from the Northwest, I spent most of my time fishing worrying about gators rather than paying attention to my rod
Lol fun times. Grew up fishing off 595 and we would go for an hour or so before they got closer
That helgramite is sick looking. Like a ned bait on steroids
Should you throw back invasive species? Thoughts?

you guys have so much in FL. You can go for fishing everyday and plenty of places to fish. :(
Hate it when you got a big one an the hook straightens out sorry to hear about the wounded thumb
