Salamanders are the mortal enemy of any nesting fish in creeks or bayous like you were fishing in. They eat the eggs and the frie or fry. Metallic purple or black and blue.

So good to see you guys having a blast fishing around my neighbourhood, I used to take my kids to Port of The Islands before the started building all the homes, the canals were full of all sorts, we fished all the bridges along 41 for years.
