When I was 8-9 years old my dad taught me how to fish a plastic worm, he made me count 12 seconds between twitches, and those twitches were 2-3 very light taps....amazing how many bass I caught using that technique throughout my life, and crazy how few were caught going any faster.
@@acuailtrash7320 well, get your bait out into an area that you think the fish are at, work it slow there and if you feel it is out of the area of the fish, just reel in and re-cast. But if you're unsure of the structure and cover at a lake you may be better off with few casts and working slowly all the way in to get a feel for the body of water.
@@acuailtrash7320 you’re not really trying to cover water with plastic worms. Typically best for targeting certain areas of water (cover, drop offs, grass, etc.)
I love this video. My 9yo son just got bit by fishing…so this dad is trying to soak in the complexities of this sport so he can catch fish and have fun and not be discouraged. My favorite thing to say is, doesn’t matter if we catch fish, we are spending time with each other. He just bought his first rod and real, I bought him his first couple but he ponied up his own money to buy one himself. That’s commitment!
I have been going down a rabbit hole for bass fishing. Thanks for the information. While I have fished in the past, at 57 years young, I am a noob. I was in a shop today and there was a lady there. She seemed to know what she was talking about. I have learned that you just need to ask someone with experience for advice. I told here my situation with fishing and she said "You need to learn to rig a Texas Rig." She then proceeded to pick out everything I needed to make them. She recommended using bobber stoppers but this place didn't have any. We didn't discuss how to use it but your video explains that. Anyways, I am looking forward to trying the Texas Rig out this weekend at the lake. Thanks again.
I really appreciate your skills and willingness to share. I’ve been a fly fisherman for years and just started bass fishing seriously. Because of you all, my PB is now 7 1/2 ILBS. Thank you sirs

Bro I promise you, I’ve been watching every soft plastics for beginners video on RUclips possible, but this is THE best one I’ve seen so far. Great great vid
I fish all my plastics super slow. My catch rate is pretty high really. My slogan is “little bit, let it sit”. Another thing to think about…Watch the tip of your pole when you move it. We think we are moving the bait a little because of our hand movement. Yet, the tip of the pole is moving 3-4’(or more). Try moving the tip of your pole 1-2’ instead. This is more of a finesse approach and is a super deadly.
We really appreciate the videos. You are inspiring the next generation of fishermen. Thank you for all the gear recommendations and fishing techniques. Keep up the great work!
Just started trying the drop shot in December because I was too impatient years before..second cast 4lb 10 oz LM..needless to say stays on the spinning rod now.

I've been fishing plastics for many years and never caught one thing. Thank you for the instruction. Never had anyone show me a thing about fishing, hunting or anything outdoors. I'll try these again and be in touch! Thank you so very much!
Crystal, get someone to show you how to fish the plastic worm. I’ve used them for 45 years. I like the scented ones, or can add anise oil scent if you want. You may be fishing where there are few bass. Plastic worms are excellent bass catchers. Some days a spinner bait is best, other days, a crank bait and other days plastic worms are best. All of these are fish catchers. I have caught many bass over years. My best day was a 9 plus pound, a five pound, an 8 pound and several smaller bass and I lost a huge bass that day, fishing in South Georgia and that day I was fishing only plastic worms. I’m 72 years old and never had another day like that day.
@@martinmaddox5315 Hello Martin! Thank you for your comments. Yes, I believe you're right about getting someone to show me how to fish plastics. I've not been able to get out much this year, but I have some up with a few ideas on how to trigger a few strikes and will try them out when I can get to the pond. I have heard what you say about plastic worms. I've had many days where I'd catch 30-70 bass believe it or not on cranks and spinners or flies. Many small ones needless to say though, but many. I often go fishing alone. I don't have any friends left that like to fish. Sorry you lost that big one! I do know I'm fishing in the right spots - have seen bass pulled out of these places I fish many times. I've fished right close to some of the guys catching 'em like crazy but I've not had a single hit the same time. Not unusual though. I just haven't had much success on plastic worms. After seeing this vid, I'll give it a shot as they say here. Thanx again for your input! Best of luck to you on future trips!

I am confident that if I use a worm and work it very slow. I WILL catch fish. Thank you so much.
I've been catching bass on soft plastics for years but have struggled so far this year. Nice to have reminders of things I know. I needed to hear someone tell me to SLOW DOWN because that's what caught them last year and I have been working them faster this year. Great video.
I have watched a METRIC TON of y’all’s videos! I love all the knowledge y’all have shared on fishing and genuinely wanting to help others become better at fishing, and it is much appreciated! I don’t know what reason it took me so long, but as of tonight I am officially subscribed. Keep up the good work Matt and Tim!
Sir,I can say that your advice about slowing the action of the worm down, to just let it be still, is absolutely correct. This is something that I struggled with for a long time,a person thinks that you need to keep that action going but it's not true,it took me a long time to figure that out. It also applys to a lot of different lures and baits

Let it sit, might be the most important advice that nobody talks about. I just figured it out this evening, and coming down and leaving it be still makes a world of difference
This is a great video. I especially enjoyed your explanation of why you like a really light weight hook for dropshotting. I never thought about the weight of the hook in that way. I really learned something.
I’m completely shook by how much content you’ve made, there’s a completely immeasurable amount of content, would take me weeks just to count your videos 😳😳😳
Great video!! I've never caught anything on any kind of soft plastic, mainly because I struggle with the patience side of the process, but it is one of my goals and videos like this always give me the confidence to keep trying. Keep up the good work guys!!
This video is very informative, I have been fishing bass for quite a while and they clearly show you how to catch bass on a regular basis. I am very biased because I prefer the Ned head rig, have done to Wacky and the numerous other plastic baits the Ned head rig is a killer they cannot resist when all else fails I go right to the Ned head and it saves the day all the time for me never fails the z- man plastic lineup as far as I am concerned is the deadliest plastic on Ned head out there hands down the best.
Thanks for an incredible video of Bass taking plastics!! It is so very rare to see this occur underwater like you filmed it. This was a rare treat!! Great recommendation about slowing the presentation. Rigging very well explained too. We can guess what a take looks like down there but it's fantastic seeing it actually happen. Take care and the best in your fishing.
Texas rigged senko with 1/8oz weight has been my ticket all my life. Last year I started throwing Texas rigged skinny dippers and it’s my new favorite.
I am fishing out of Wisconsin and that Texas rig works really great on grass and weeds. I caught 4 huge bass this weekend one 22 inches 2 17 inches one 16 inch.
Thank you for sharing that pause information I've been a fisherman for years And have never really mastered plastic worms yet I'm getting ready to go and give it a try right now!! Lake Skinner

Fish it that slow huh… that’s crazy.. how many casts to you do a minute then? Wouldn’t it be hard to cover any water?
Thank you. More insight than the whole video. Actually giving a time for how long to let it sit helps way more than just saying, let it sit.
@@acuailtrash7320 well, get your bait out into an area that you think the fish are at, work it slow there and if you feel it is out of the area of the fish, just reel in and re-cast. I’m completely shook by how much content you’ve made, there’s a completely immeasurable amount of content, would take me weeks just to count your videos 😳😳😳
Gr8t stuff Matt ! I'm pond guy and needed to hear 👂🏾 this video. I need to slow my roll! Literally! Thanks TB
I really learned so much watching this video you are a true teacher more more more...
Thank you
Great video!! I've never caught anything on any kind of soft plastic, mainly because I struggle with the patience side of the process, but it is one of my goals and videos like this always give me the confidence to keep trying. Keep up the good work guys!!

Awesome video, one of the best instructional ive seen. 👍
Super helpful video with the visualizations. Looking forward to putting it into practice this Spring.
Awesome! We're just happy to help.
Good info! Loaded with all the links for everything discussed in the video.
DUDE! I tried bringing the worm up through the top of the grass and caught my PB! I'm pretty new to fishing it was just under 4 lbs. Thanks man!
Love these underwater videos mabey you could explain what the different bites feel like I think that would be very interesting
Nice explanation of using plastic baits will be trying these this spring
Texas rigged senko with 1/8oz weight has been my ticket all my life. Last year I started throwing Texas rigged skinny dippers and it’s my new favorite.
As a new bass fisherman I really appreciate you dummifying this
Nice Job with your video. Very educational. I 3D print my own bass lures and enjoy each fish I catch with them.
