The best knot to tie is the best knot you can tie..... Some of the best fishing advice you will ever hear
I loved that!
And 20,000+ anglers said “Thank you!!” upon hearing that tip.
Also, always buy the best gear you can afford. You will not regret it.
I dont know, the overhand knot probably wont work.🤣
Yea what he said! Lol
Great video. The funniest worm fishing line I heard by a Pro at a seminar 20 years ago. "When worming, you will generally get 3 taps. First tap is fish picking up the worm. Second tap is the fish spitting out the worm. Third tap is me, tapping you on shoulder saying, you dun waited too long to set the hook!"
Time and time again I see how to tie the Texas Rig. But finally someone shows me how to fish the lure.. And I"m 76 years Old.... Thank You Brian...
I started fishing last year and you'd be surprised how difficult it was to find simple explanations on how to retrieve very common rigs/baits. I'm glad you made this video since everyone else on RUclips just focuses on what gear you need to buy
Totally agree! BLat's vids are the best!
Well fishing is a very secretive hobby lol. A lot of us started like you with limited knowledge and learned our selves what to do. I personally learned more by making friends at the river banks and lakes with other older folks looking for someone to share their stories.
Tell me about it
You trying to menick lures like plastic worm reel in slow not like this h
Guy or you use crawdady same reel in slow but twitch couple times as reeling in or crankbaits reel rhem in like how fast s
Fish move reel little fast couple times as will twitch pause reel in pause twitch same goes fir everything
Just getting into fishing as more of a serious hobby and this is the clearest, most consice video for "how to" advice that I have come across. Thank you so much, I am now subscribed and looking forward to watching your channel !!
You explain things better than most of the fishing RUclipsrs do. Thanks!
Finally, someone who actually shows the hand, arm, wrist movement while explaining why they're moving the bait that way. Very FEW will show their movements. All they show is a fish being caught with the rig they're supposedly teaching to use. Thanx for showing your actual retrieve motions and movements and hope you do more with other baits (ie bladed jigs, swim jigs, various cranking methods, and basic jig fishing). Showing what to do with the rod, reel, and hand/arm movements is something everyone else leaves out. I don't really care if they show themselves catching a fish. Everyone knows what that looks like! I wanna learn the technique. You just did that in this vid.....Thanx BLat!!!
I came from 4 billion years in the future and can attest that we still throw the Texas Rig at fish. That said, great and informative video Brian.
Brian, I've found that bass are similar to seagulls in a McDonald's parking lot. When they are alone and find a French fry, they sit and eat it on the spot. When there's a group around them, they grab it and try to fly away so it won't be taken away from them. Anytime a bass runs from the spot where he picked up my lure, I try to land that fish quickly and get another cast right at that spot. He was running away from his competitors. My absolute most favorite way to catch fish. Spot casting a black 8 inch Mann's Jelly Worm (or the homemade equivalent) with a 3/16 oz. Slip sinker and 4/0 Eagle Claw 295JBL, Let her hit bottom, count to 2 while watching line, then 2 quick pops, let 'er fall, then reel it in.
I noticed this too. It's because they are kleptoparasitic. I was fishing and had a bass on, another bass was trying to nab the plastic off its mouth, my buddy threw his plastic and we doubled up. I later fished a double rig and caught 2 at once. It was a pretty rare occurrence but does enforce the point.
They are running so the other fish don’t steal their treat. They’re probably thinking see ya suckers! Until the hook gets set. 😂
This is one of the best retrieve videos I have ever seen. Envisioning your bait-rig in the water is such an important lesson to learn and helps you read water and expect the bite. So good. Thank you 🙏🏾
what a great teacher much respect
Started fishing bass recreational on the weekends sometimes about 2 years ago! I've caught 600+ fish on a Texas rig
Hey Brian. First time seeing one of your videos. You are really good at just talking and explaining things. This was a perfect video to learn the inns and outs of a Texas rig. Glad I found your channel. I am finally at the age of 57 getting my first kayak to get out on a lake. I have been bank fishing long enough lol. A lot of the different techniques I'm not familiar with so your channel looks to be very helpful.
My absolute favourite bait is a weightless 5 inch yum dinger in bream colour or green pumpkin. Caught an 8 pounder las weekend. Water is still warm here in South Africa so the fishing is still excellent. Brian, your videos are brilliant. Works anywhere in the world.
Bloody hell an 8 pounder 😂
My three biggest PBs came on a plastic worm, Texas rigged. Tungsten is definitely worth the extra cost.
Love your down to earth style dude. You really really know your stuff.
Would love to do more fishing with guys like you man!
I have a buddy that fishes almost exclusively a Texas rigged robo worm. He’s a great fisherman and is good at all the other techniques but man can he get em on a Tex rig and he gets big bass too! He uses a light weight, light wire kooks and a 6” worm. He’ll cast ( long ) let the bait hit bottom and SLOWLY drag the worm back to the boat sometimes taking up to 10+ minutes reeling it back! Amazing!
The patience 😂
Gaming Friends I can’t do it! My A.D.D. kicks in and I go mad! If I’m not twitching a jerkbait, jigging a blade bait, fishin a swimbait or glide bait, popping a frog, throwing a swimjig , a spinnerbait or cranking rip rap…. I ain’t fishing… of course my Asian buddy out fishes me every time throwing a f*cking Tex rigged Robo Worm 🤣🤦🏻♂️
I do this same thing with a roboworm maybe not that slow but sometimes I use a senko I try other techniques but this just catches the most fish for me
First time I hear of Texas rig was watching a Roland Martin video from 1984 and after that it's the only one I used on all my solf plastic , I like it a lot , by the way your channel is one of the best to learn how to fish diferent lures and how to fishing in general😂
I love your thought process, especially on shadows, sunlight, and shade! Love it!!!
Excellent content as always Brian. Anyone else catch the top water blowup in the background at the 12:19 mark?
Was wondering if I was going crazy or if anyone else saw it
And at 7:30
As someone getting into fishing, the beginning of this video was wonderful! Thank you for for clear instruction and explanation. I have been fishing a local pond with a simple bobber and worm set up for bluegills. Watched somebody pull a big bass out of the pond so now I'm trying to chase those bass.
Edit: finished the video. Wonderful information all around.
Welcome to a whole new world of fishing
Love the sound descriptions. They make perfect sense and it’s a great way to teach people. Thank you for the tutorials.
Well done brother. Anybody & I mean ANYbody that watches this ought to be able to go out & start fishing a Texas rig today. Excellent presentation my friend!

B Lat i love your content man! I'm a pound/lake/creek hopper who just started back fishing this year for the first time in over 10 years recently I've been buying all new Combos and trying different techniques but it always seems like the Texas Rig gets the job done when nothing else will I've caught 7 Bass ranging from 11 to 19 in almost a pound up to an almost 3 and 1/2 pounder all on simple texas rigged plastics and creature baits! I will use this rig until i die! Thank you for this awesome video and keep up the great work!
Wow Brian. Thanks! I’m really enjoying your videos. Sure I can fish with soft plastics but your detailed information makes me so much more successful!
Tutorials! Yes. Thank you, insight is always appreciated.
really liked how you've articulated everything in this video, I found it very well presented. great job!
Dude I love you latest videos. The way you break things down for a so-so fisherman like me is perfect
This is great for any fisherman. But he’s really great at going over the 101s and the fundamentals for beginners. Keepin it simple
Really like how you have clear detailed explanation of the basics like how to put the plastic bait on the hook or what knot to use and how to tie. For us beginners this is critical knowledge.
As always… enjoyable and informative. Thanks B.Lat.
Thank you for being so clear in what you are explaining. I didn’t feel like you were talking over my head.
Loved the "Tutorial" Brother Brian. Soft plastic never go out of style!!
I need someone like this In my life lol... trying to learn how to fish on my own sucks.. no one to teach me the tricks and tips. I've caught 2 trout, ever..
Great video, OUTSTANDING explanation, and AWESOME sound effects!!! Keep killing it!!
This was a great video, really like how you explained the retrieve , that really makes sense thank you.
Brian thanks for again , for your sharing insight and knowledge.
Thanks for another valuable tutorial B-Lat we appreciate it. God Bless and tight lines
Thanks Brian. Great tips, I love the sound effects, for whatever reason that’s how I think of describing it as well.
Very good instruction! I've lately switched to Ned rig, but Texas Rig is always a winner, especially in cover.
appreciate the experience / knowledge you drop along the way of the video. right on
Thank you for introducing me to the Palomar knot. I have finished with this palaver not now for the last 3-4 months. It's been amazing I haven't lost the fish and frankly it's easy knot to tie.
Thank you for this video B Lat, it really helps me out.
Always great advice for the beginner to the experienced angler. Id love to see you do an episode on scents. I may have missed it but ive never heard you talk about scents. Never seen you use them.
So glad I found your channel this morning! Best Texas Rig video I have seen. Made me think of alot of stuff I didn't even think about.
Awesome video, great pointers on techniques to use with Texas rigs. Thanks!
Thank you sir for your time! Great information 👍
You don’t even understand how much I appreciate this one.
Man, I learn so much from this guy . Thanks Brian
You have a great way of making techniques perfectly clear and understandable. I watch a lot of videos, you make perfect sense, thank you for the content.
i was just typing and retyping this same comment because I didnt know how I wanted to say it. I have no idea who this guy is but i just subscribed as I am just getting back into bass fishing after 20 years.
I'm more of a long cast and drag it slowly pulling the bait with my rod to keep the line tight so I have less chance of missing the small bites then making different actions once I get the bite to trigger them to take my bait.
Just a outstanding video. Very informative. Thanks.
I love Brian Latimer he's so good at teaching
Awesome vid Mr Brian! I remember hearing that catfish will usually bite your bait and then run away to get it away from the rest of the school, maybe that's kind of what they do?🤘🎣🎣 Root for ya every tournament go BLatt!!!!!!!!!
First time seeing your video and subscribed right away. Simple but exact and easy to understand. Thanks!
Thank you. I am in Florida camping on a canal . Thanks for the tips.
Plz get more footage of the bait hitting the water. There's something so badass/satisfying about watching a pro like blat going through the motion to flip/pitch or cast and then seeing the accuracy and subtlety of the presentation.
Big fan🤙
I so agree with John John absolutely satisfying as you say to see it hit where it hits!
Excellent video good stuff your down to earth explanations with reasoning behind them makes it believable and very watchable. Great instruction. A pro at teaching what matters. Real world stuff, no fluff. I just subscribed. Thank you.
Texas rig my absolute 💯 favorite. I'm addicted to soft plastics. This video goes hard 🔥
Thanks for you knowledge and tips , keep them coming
Great video B-Lat, I appreciate you my guy!
I like the sounds. Totally made sense to me. Great teaching
started watching you a few months ago, Got hooked thanks for the content and your knowledge brother.
Amazing teacher!!! Thank you!!
Man great video I love the way you teach and do your "tutorial' 👍 thanks for the upload! I just found your channel today and I am glad I did! ✌️
Great, clear video. Thanks!
Excellent video Brian. Lots of good information.
Great Breakdown and Awesome instruction!
Hands down the best video I’ve seen out there on how to fish a Texas rig. Thanks for the video and I look forward to watching more. Smashed that subscribe button for ya, keep up the vids!
My favorite is when you havent gotten bit all day, you get a bite you dont feel immediately because of the slack and the fish runs as your about to work the t-rig. Even the small ones will almost jerk the rod out of your hand 🤣
Great info! Thank you.
I really enjoy your lessons Brian.
The best home to video I have seen. Easy to understand
Man you put out helpful content! One of the best on youtube! I laughed when you mentioned how a fish eats your bait and just takes off. Always wondered why they do that.
Texas rig is how I caught my first bass. I'll never forget that moment. Texas rig is my go to, it's OP!
Mine was a spinner bait
Great informative video!! Presentation was awesome!
Probably the best fishing tip video I've ever seen.
Cheers from Australia mate.

Perfect! Looking to up my bass game with the Texas rig on the Columbia River!
Right at the 12:16 mark, I’m pretty sure that fish just hollered yeet at you
Love your how to videos. Thanks
Love this man. I usually use this rig but normally will go weightless
Great tutorial with lots of hands on info. Too bad the Texas Rig wasn't the right lure for the day but the fish are always biting yesterday.
Straight to the point great explanation
New fisher over here. Learned a lot. Thanks
