Great video. I am not new to fishing but am new to spinner baits. Your video has been the best at explaining what to do when casting and reeling back in.
As a new fisherman he’s my favorite to watch so far. Good clear advice, explains why he’s doing what he’s doing and he doesn’t over complicate things. Meaning… explaining things as if you’re talking to a new fisherman obviously helps, but there’s knowledge I’m sure for all skill levels. I’m going to pick a pro from every team to watch. He’s from Lew’s (was watching another younger Lew’s team member but I like his cadence better) I think and I’m going to find a Shimano, Daiwa etc. from each team I like. We should do a fantasy fishing league 🙄
Great educational video. You do an excellent job of explaining what bait you’re using, how you’re swimming it on the retrieve, where you’re using the bait and what’s going on between your ears imagining what the bait is doing while you’re retrieving the bait. Very, very nice video and well edited too. Thank you, from Missouri, Jack
Another Missouri fisherman who thinks this is a very informative video. I learned how effective these baits are with 3/8oz & 1/2oz Spinnerbaits are mostly in Chartreuse and White or all Chartreuse. To reduce aggravation, stay away from trailer hooks even if I add a plastic trailer, I hate trailer hooks..! They cause too many snags. 😢
Thanks for the reasuring this old man he's been doing it right. I too have nothing smaller than 1/2 oz but mostly go 3/4 to 1oz. I'm not a shallow water fisherman and tend to use more single colorado or a large willow blade because I can slow roll off ledges and over deep grass feeling every vibration. Love your trailer selection too.
Thanks for all the info. This spinnerbait Video has been more informative than any other video people have made before. I never knew silver blades should be thrown in Clearwater. Thanks so much keep it up bro
The 1972 Classic was won by Don Butler with a SOB Spinnerbait. I got one when I joined BASS that year and have been fishing one ever since. This is what I’ve learned. I miss fewer fish on Mono. The lighter 1/4-3/8 are better in shallow vegetation. If the water isn’t frozen you can catch bass on a Spinnerbait. No water is to clear to catch fish on a Spinnerbait, the clearer the water the faster and closer to the surface you need to fish it. The windier the better in clear water. Painted blades are good for clear water. I live in the North East and deal with a lot of weeds and clear water, everything you talked about was 100% on target for the mid south reservoirs you did your demo on! Spinnerbaits are great!
Excellent video. I'm new to fishing and your presentation is easy to understand. I like you do a bunch of castings and talk your way through them. Thank you
Thank you for the Video and Intel my friend. I just got back into Fishing after 20 years off and your Videos have helped an Old DAV tremendously. Stay safe my Friend Semper Fidelis
Spinnerbaits are more versatile than people think... You can burn them near the surface when they're schooling on bait, or you can slow roll it along the bottom to bounce it off rocks. Both can be super fun. If I don't have a plastic trailer on, I always use a trailer hook for those shorter strikes. Thanks for sharing!
I’m not sure if you read these, but I stumbled across your channel and really like the way you explain the ‘why’ behind what you are doing. Caught my first fish ever yesterday on a Strike King double spinner, the dark one. 1.63lb largemouth!
@@BrianLatimerFishing any thoughts on doing a series on approaching a new body of water and taking us through how and why you chose the techniques and colors you rely on to catch fish in a new lake?
Great video man. You're so confident with your casting anyone can tell you been fishing forever. I tried this stuff once with my son and gave up lol. I couldn't figure out how to change my line on this Shakespeare reel I got at Walmart (a mid-range reel for them). I tried spinner bait and thought it would be the most efficient but didn't know to hook plastics to it. I was either running it empty OR hooking red worms to it. I actually live in upstate NY and have access to Lake Champlain and various rivers and ponds. So good fishing waters, but after my first time trying it I realized I'm too clumsy to tie knots, swap line for heavier test, or even know what I'm fishing for. But I'd like to try again, at some point. So this video was really helpful.
Excellent video that I can understand keeping it very simple for me to where I feel way more confident in taking my spinner out and giving it better shot
Man this seems so simple but I always had a hard time sticking with the spinner bait. But over the years of trial and error it seems as it’s second nature each different situations… dope info
just beginning Bass fishing and gathering equipment. this is great. I enjoy your videos so much. Always easy to understand and follow! Thank you so much
Wow, thank you so much for the spinnerbait video. Very very beginner friendly! By far the best video I have seen on the spinner bait! Liked and subscribed! I am going to go thru all ur videos. Much appreciated! You laid the best presentation to hook me to ur channel, lol.
Great video. I’ve become a big fan of the zman spinnerbait. Catches everything. I’ve caught crappie, catfish, and bass on them. Minnowz and the goat are perfect trailers.
Thanks for this. Yesterday was my first day out on my 2nd year of really fishing. Since it's early in the season I wasn't prepared for the bass to NOT be on the bottom, where I killed them last year with Ned Rigs. Came here to find out what I should have been doing for mid water column fish (where they all were yesterday). Really helpful. I've subscribed and will be watching all your vids!
Love spinnerbait fishing especially in a River or a Bayou, started out using Mepps Spinners with the French Blades, easy to fish in rivers that tend to be off colored most times of the year! The vibration allows the fish to use their lateral lines to home in on the bait! The safety pin style spinnerbaits came in during the 60’s is a much better spinnerbait because of all the different ways to fish it! In pressure bodies of water! I find dropping down to 3/8ths or 1/4oz spinnerbaits with a stinger hook has caught a lot bass & even Bayou Muskies (Gar) using ultralight spinning & baitcasting rods & reels. the Silver Colorado Blade, with black & yellow skirts! Not sure why the that color combinations work? But it was a color combo that was popular in the early 60's? It's still a goto color combo for me! I don't think fish can remember that far back? They have an Irish Setter tension spans! I enjoy watch you fish the Tour and try to follow you during the event! You're your own fisherman! I like that and think that's the difference between being a good fisherman to being a Great one! Rick Clunn is probably my favorite Pro Bass Fisherman! He competed against the fish! Not the Competition! Still a very knowledgeable fisherman that others copied him and not the other way around! Him & Roland Martin old scbool! Before the Tour was turned into a boat race instead fishing for Bass! Be Cool
Glad to see you again B Lat. Since I'm here early, I think it'd be interesting to see a Top 5 or 10 video from you. (top 5 favorite soft plastics, lures, reels, whatever it may be) Cheers
Top 5 for what type of fishing? What species? What’s the scene? Those types of videos are usually just yo sell. Baits are ALWAYS SITUATIONAL. Right now I’d suggest learning what techniques you’re good at. What does your body of water have to offer? All this factors into your baits. For someone who lives on Lake st Clair the baits will be small 3in worms or neds while for someone who lives in texas it might be 10” worms jigs and crankbaits.
Been catching quality bass on spinner bait in the last few weeks. Using the same colors Brian was showing, green pumpkin during dark conditions and whiteish on sunny clear water conditions.
Blat, great video’s. Really like the way you explain techniques and even better that your on the water showing what your explaining. You explained going with 50 lbs braid if lacking some experience casting braid. But what would you need to improve on to cast 30 lbs braid ? Thumb control ? Also it seemed that my 110 plopper was tearing my Power Pro 8 braid up. Seemed like the braid was getting ruffed up somehow or was twisting giving that appearance of being ruffed up. I checked the body of the plopper to make sure it wasn’t rotating. The only thing rotating was the tail. Could it have been the type of guides I was using possibly ? I added a barrel swivel but caused my plopper to nose down somewhat. Any suggestions?
The Spinnerbait is my most confidence bait, has been since I was a kid. Great Video, would like to see you just go fish a spinnerbait, like the walking bait video.
Great stuff my man! just a quick thing about the retreival speed, some say burn it and some say slow it down, we just need to "feel" the water and make sure we do what works, fishing is all situational and the technique changes by the hour not even days. Thanks again buddy!
Great video! As far as explosive strikes, spinner baits are only second to top water. They don’t gently nip it like a jig or worm. They usually just smash it!
Bro,I love spinnerbaits, but I've always been afraid to use them around lay downs because I didn't wanna snag and lose it. I have apparently been doing it wrong this whole time. Thank you man!
Love the spinner bait. Agree with all you said and would like to add one point to the "complex lay down" you encountered, there was also a shadow/shade line to think about. Great video ++
I've been fishing since I was 2 and have fished in different countries as well as most of the us. I can tell you the advice he gives on his channel you can use anywhere and you will catch fish salt or fresh. Currently residing in N.C. and it would be a dream to yak fish some salt with you lat. Love throwing the spinner!!! Its the bait im most confident with. If its a rough day i just throw a good spinner on !! Thanks for breaking it down and helping us become even more productive with it.
Really like your videos. I would prefer to see where you are casting and the bait is landing and listen to your comments as you retrieve. Thanks for all of your content.
Seeing this helps me because spinner baits is my favorite lure by far... But for some reason I won't throw it in dirty water... And I never use a trailer with it... I catch them more on that bait but now I don't think I'll switch up😂I'll just throw on a trailer if Im not having any luck
I use to fish on blood worms and spinner airs until I was in my 20s. Now I have 47 of every bait with every color and my devoted spinner baits box has dust on it. Ever since I fell in love with a jig man I can’t put it down. When a jig bite is on you don’t ever miss a fish and it’s true they catch bigger fish. But this video has me going to my favorite pond tomorrow with only my old trusty spinner bait box
Nice video and informative.💯👍💶 I am using googan, bass proshop, yum and others, why aren't the bass biting? is there something wrong with the water or they are just not biting because they used to bit all the time and now they are not...
I'm glad RUclips finally turned me on to this channel. I love your style of teaching.

Laydowns are some of the best targets for spinnerbaits
Great video, you explain things very clearly and with the right amount of detail
