Man I grew up watching Roland Martin fishing shows when I was a kid back in the 80s. I'm glad he's still healthy and fishing!

You were my childhood inspiration watching you catch all those giant bass on tv...I caught several giant bass over 8 lbs here in east central IL as a kid with my largest tipping in at 10lbs 8oz and most were caught on your chartreuse big bass willow leaf spinnerbait. I'm 50 now and still enjoy your videos. Thank you sir and hope you're doing well!

I found reeling and letting the sp drop gets good fish. I used to drop it in the water, let it sink to the general depth for the conditions and just reel it in then one day I got a tiny backlash with a faulting reel, pulled it right quick and continued reeling and BAM , nice fish. Repeated the same procedure without the backlash and BAM. Now it's my standard retrieve.
Also found if you're getting a lot of strikes but no hook-ups the lure isn't running deep enough especially if running a trailer hook, I'd run it deeper and/or put the trailer hook on upside down.

Those were awesome Bass. A lot of folks have almost forgotten how effective a Spinnerbait can be on calm waters, they're not limited to windy conditions.
