I grew up on the Louisiana Gulf coast(South East)catching speckled trout and Redfish. I was surrounded by some of the best bass fishing in the world, but nobody in my family did it. I used to watch Bill Dance, Hank Parker, and Roland Martin on Sunday mornings. Finally a friend invited me on a bass fishing trip when I was sixteen. Didn't know what I was doing. He told me to go and buy a couple of Humdinger chartreuse and white spinnerbaits - "That's all you need". Sure enough, we smacked them, and I've been an addict ever since(30 years later). There are so many lures and techniques now, but I always have to go back to that first day and remind myself that a spinnerbait will always catch fish. I later discovered that Redfish will also hit them real hard, along with crankbaits and chatterbaits. I still do love my Humdingers too! Cheap. Made in Louisiana, and they just flat work.
literally the most informative spinner bait video of all time. 👏
Good stuff, Scott! I'm a bit older, so I grew up watching your dad. As a matter of fact, you can thank him for me. It was was one of his Big Bass spinnerbaits, that caught my Pb 12 lb. bass.
Sounds like a friend of mine who caught a twelve pound bass on spinner bait. First spinner bait I had ever seen. Long time ago

Because of Mr.Scott Martin im now a fan of spinner baits. Spinnerbaits are and could be a really good way to catch bait fish such as bream also known or reffered to as blue gills. Last september in 2021 i got 3 bream to rise to the surface just by using a spinnerbait. so spinnerbaits can be a really really really good search bait to search for bass or bream.
Very cool, super helpful stuff man. Thank You!
Dude scotty you hit the nail on the head at 5:40 I don't think I've heard any other pro talk about how important it is to get used to how your bait feels when it is completely Weed free, it's so key to know that your bait is running true especially longer casts through cover
I try to give it all..Thanks bro!

Great video and bass! I was born to fish in Florida but Delaware will have to do.
I Just Love The Martins aka Roland and Scott!! Ive Learned so Much about Bass Fishing From Them! I Can't Thank Them Enough!!
Good stuff Scott. Pretty much how I fish sb. The one thing I do almost all the time now is to put a 3.5 to 3.8 swim bait as a trailer. it allows it to be slower and seems to get more quality fish.
I've been watching your show since I was 10 every Saturday at 6 in the morning. I'm 16 now and I've learned so much from you, thanks so much!
Thanks Josh keep your passion
A willow blade that works great in murky water (Lay Lake, Guntersville, Logan Martin AL) Is a War Eagle. Im an Alabama fan but that bait works awesome.
Thanks for showing all those pro tips. looking forward to throwing a spinner bait next time out.
I have some major trout streams where I am. (south east of pittsburgh). really got into fishing when the bass master classic came though the area when I was little (2005? kvd win I believe?). Morning Scott, really informative video with tips. One of my questions is i like to catch keepers, descale and eat ‘em. For BASS i’ve used live worms, minnows, shrimp, but haven’t caught much lately. I’m out in the midwest and fish in waterways, lakes and ponds primarily, in Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, and Missouri.
WHERE have you heard are good fishing spots for keepers and WHAT BAITS work best??
Thank you
Thank You Scott for making the instructional videos.
I'm envy , fishing in Indy ,lots of nice bass but not Florida. Thanks for all you do for the less fortunate....
We might be coming down to the Big O during spring break. Really looking forward to it!

I'll be down there thanksgiving weekend. hope to see you around the marina. im looking forward to getting down there. you gave me tips when I was there before. made me and my dad's trip!
It's never a bad idea to use what the pros use as well as what they recommend, because their success depends on the quality of the gear they use, and you can bet they have learned what works best , from hundreds, maybe even thousands of hours of on the water research, and testing anything before they endorse it. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us Scott, and keep on Bassin. God Bless.
You're welcome
Hi Mr. Martin,
A moment of your time please.
Do you prefer a smaller diameter wire for the arm to create more vibration? And I have been told to put the skirt on backward if I wanted to create more lift - what are your thoughts? I have learned a lot from you through your videos, thank you!
I have started fishing the fish tales series trail and the classic for it is on
Lake Okeechobee on July 6 and 7 2017 so any video for summer time fishing on your lake or any advice you have is well appreciated. Thank you. your #1 fan. PS, love the current videos.

Why does "donkey bass" make me.laugh so hard?
Love watching your videos! I learn a lot of things about some of my favorite techniques that I never considered before! Big fan! Keep up the great work!
Cooper Thor Hey Scott Martin here. Lol. I think he’s more interested in his sub count than his actual subs. He’s a great fisherman. I grew up watching his dad.

Thank you for the tips Scott, I know it's your job, but you still make it fun.
Thanks for this informative video with some really in depth tips on spinnerbaits.
Awesome detail on presentation! Thanks man for all the insight! Love the channel
Damn Scott! I’m such a huge fan of yours because of RUclips! Obviously you’re a bad ass angler, but getting to see you’re other vids of the behind the scenes and you hooking up with other RUclipsrs really makes your vids simply awesome! I wish you’d make the transition to BASS. I’d think you’d do really well competing with the KVDs of the sport!
Finally a video with good tips for spinnerbaits. thank you so much Scott! Subbed
Any advice for pond fishing bass in Colorado this time of the year? The forage in the pond seems to be Green Sunfish and Black Crappie, and I got 5 bass today on a Terminator Double Spinner Bait (sunfish pattern), 1 on a green pumpkin Rage Blade, and another on a watermelon red shim-e-stick.
Great video Scott. Keep them coming. I'm just getting back in the game. Love your videos. Thank you.
Caught my first bass on a spinner bait right under 2 pounds just a few cast will definitely have to try it more on my lake
I'm heading to Florida in April and I'm going to lake okeechobee.i think it would be awesome to go fishing with you!
great edit with the drone another good one man, hope to see you in Texas one day around coleto Creek reservoir or lake texana
I envy your casting agility and ability Scott!
1000th like! Good stuff Scott! I've always loved a spinner bait. That last Bass was very nice! Thanks for the advice spinning in control. : )
+Kevin Hansen 👊🏼👊🏼
I live on the rim canal in okeechobee and honestly lures n spinners never have any luck. I'm north part of lake. Ur more south. But White n stuff never works so imma try this out. But my go to is a Texas rigged junebug worm. From 4 inch curly tail to a 10 inch junebug culprit is about all I use and they deff work
The canal south is different from the canal north..the canal up there is not the “main lake” and that June bug worm is hard to beat - Good luck 👍🏻
Tips were very helpful Scott - keep 'em comin!
Hello Scott I'm Ken..I have a odd reel... A true right handed reel.. I don't switch hands to crank the reel.. I reel with my left hand cast with right.. but it's hard to find those kind.. and. What is the best way to tune in the reel to eliminate the backlash bird nest whatever you want to call it... How often do you put new line on?
thankyou for making these vids ive learned so much from you so far and ready to learn much more
+Josh Reeder 👊🏼
Great video man! Awesome tips. And that lake looks amazing!
great video!!..can't wait for the next one!..I'm calling into work tommorow to go fishing now..lol
Excellent Scott! Getting the spinnerbait is next on my list, and then to chatterbaits. Those two I am yet to catch a fish on. Have any chatterbait vids that could help me out?
That's for the tips.
Question: Have you ever fish big swimbait (Huddleston) ??
informative video, you mentioned trailer hooks but what about other types of trailers do you use those in lake Okeechobee
Just bought a spinnerbait too, perfect video to watch, thanks!
Hey Scott I'm going down to Lake Okeechobee in January for an FLW event. I fish as a co-angler and I'm trying to learn to hopefully become a professional tournament angler. Any advice for how to fish Okeechobee as a co
Hey Scott, if you could only choose one length rod to use for most types of Bates, ( senko/brushhog, frog, spinnerbait, what would you suggest and what type of action? Thnks
Scott I love watching your vids some time you need to come up to Michigan.
great video. thanks. Hope one day me and my daughter's can meet u and your dad. you guys r the real deal! Maybe we will run into u guys at the stick marsh, been going alot, the fishing has been insane! okay merry Christmas and happy new year to u and your family!
kingfish slayer I
very helpful Scott thanks for the video
Nice video, but I noticed something...Scott you said you like keeping the rod up when coming through vegetation, but after saying that you never done it. You constantly held the rod down/to the side! Also, talk a little more on "targeting" while casting. Is there are certain areas you want to concentrate on when casting and searching for bass (especially when trying to establish a pattern)?
Really enjoying all the vids Scott! Do you ever fish colder climates such as New England? I've had some great times on Cobbosee lake this summer.
Great video bro. I taught my self how to fish spinnerbaits. It's nice to know that I'm doing it correctly
Thanks bro
For many years I just didn't jive with spinnerbaits. Just thought they were too big/heavy and goofy-looking. "Why the heck would they want to bite that?' But the biggest thing I just wasn't experienced with were the right conditions Once I started getting that, with the help of a local reservoir that's particularly good for spinners, I began to love them and now they're an essential part of my arsenal I've found that you have to really have confidence especially with a spinnerbait, not only to throw and work it properly, but to feel out the right kind of hookset. Kind of 'zen', if you will. I'm going to really give them a work out for smallies this summer as well. WE camp up at Lake George in upstate NY every year, and it's cool and clear year-round. It'll be challenging.
Great vid w tips & tricks, thx Scott!! Merry Christmas
subbed because you're a Martin. .👍 my first lure was the helicopter lure when I was a kid🎣
Learned something in less than a minute! Thanks!
The spinnerbait series was spot on Scott Great video. Saw someone comment on your old man. I think it would be cool to go wade fishing the big O with shiners and balloons. Like a tribute/challenge to his great video when he caught that monster, and it got away early but it still counts if you ask me. P.S. Must tow boat behind you with rope.
That's a winner!
