Absolutely agree with you. Here in South Africa the senko is very expensive so i fish the 5 inch yum dinger and the jumbo fat albert from Damiki most of the times weightless. Different colours for both.
I spend all summer doing exactly that: frogging mats. I started using soft plastic toads(zman black goat toadz) this year for the first time with that gama G-finesse hybrid hook and I never lose fish and can drag them through the slop without bending out a 4-0. I'm very reluctant to try a hollow body again after how successful these toads have been. Flukes used as topwater/subsurface is another summer favorite. Thank you for the recommendations and ideas, they really help me build a solid tackle bag.
I use toads when it's a little more open and you can work it faster. Frogs when it's thick and there's minimal holes to let it just sit for a minute. They both have there times for me
@@joecuillo5005 Yeah it's great to have both tools on hand. If you are in marshy areas with duckweed mats, the toad is easy for the fish to track there too. I also use a very unique mini hollow body frog made in the Philippines designed for snakehead. It has a single tiny spinner blade instead of legs, weighs maybe 7/16oz and is only 3/4 of an inch long. I think it has become my favorite topwater of any kind.

My top three where I bank fish are 1) the silver/blue chug bug, 2) swimming a cotton cordell spoon just under the surface, and 3) having some white flukes on hand when the largemouth get really aggressive (just be ready when the fluke hits the water). I catch numerous bass with these lures, and in the last week, three of the largemouth landed were 4+ lbs. One 3 pounder blew up the chug bug about 5 times on a single retrieve before grabbing it.
Used spoons from the bank also....but the last 7 or so years I've gone to the "blade bait" and I believe Cordell makes one....I'm not talking about a "bladed spinner bait" but it's shaped just like a shad and the vibration and reflection of the sun make it lethal...have caught everything on it and has become my "go to" when fishing is tough. You can work it on the bottom or close to the surface and even jig it vertically just like a spoon
I have banked fished several times with success. I now am blessed, my wife bought me a new Ranger rig that I love. I am here in south central Florida with a lot of lakes around me. My PB is 11.8 pounds. Several 10 pounders. I have had several bites on a Zoom 7 inch June Bug. Either fast or slow, it really works for me. I buy a lot of "smelly Jelly". That stinking pink stuff really works. It is around $9.00 per jar. I get it from Tackle Warehouse. I order 6 jars in order to have no shipping cost. 1 jar will last me about a year. I like your frogs the other crank bait. I know they work but I go out in the boat only a couple hours in the morning and come home. I am retired so I go when I want. I love to watch my bass swim off after the catch. I give them a kiss and thank them for the fight. I just love it. I watch a lot of tournament fishing but I don't ever fish them myself. I don't want any pressure at all. If they are not biting that morning that is just tough. I'll fish the next morning. I love being on the water. I am thankful to the good Lord for giving me the health and the chance to chase those beautiful green creatures.
Medium or medium heavy 6ft 1 piece spinning rod, 3000 size reel, 10lb sufix elite. You'll never need another setup regardless of bait type you're using or heavy cover. I snag all the freaking time, and have caught several types/ weights of fish but still have yet to break the line or lose a lure one single time, ever. Stop overcomplicating things people.
That's pretty much what I set up for bank fishing or canoe fishing my swampy creek. I bought a Shakespeare Pro Lite Medium Heavy 6ft rod and a Daiwa Regal 3000 spinner but went with 10lb braid. I love the way it fishes the lures I use and it's plenty stout enough to rig up for catfish if I want to. I do take a 5'6 ultra light with mono for blue gill and crappie but there's probably around $175 invested in my rigs and that covers just about everything.

I had those exact senkos but it would kinda dissolve after a few cast and fall off the hook. I’m not sure why but I bought some regular yum worms and they worked fine
It's harder to. Odds are you will have to find a slightly more open area. It is possible if the pond scum isn't thick yet to get it close then skip it back over the scum.

Topwaters are so gd fun, my favorite is the small hula popper and the small floating rapala with the round bill. Fish hit them with extreme prejudice
@@bradfjord No doubt the sick adrenaline rush on top water bites.
Fish fear him,,, Cats want to be him!😂🤣
What’s your main setup (rod reel line etc…)
Hi if speed reels have less torque hard to fight fish 5.0:-1 has the most
Live shiner under bobber best bait
Great information thank you
Every time i I try using a frog in my area, all I catch is bullfrog.
😂😂😂😂
All I catch are Lillie’s or scum 😂
Yum dinger 5 inch any colour and the Damiki fat Albert for sure. All colours. Fished weightless. Then the frog and the jig in stained water.
Do you think I can get away with straight braid for chatter baits?
That's how I go, I even use a heave duty snap swivel and still have good luck 🤘
Better have your drag set perfectly...I had my PB last week do a hard, straight dive directly under the kayak in 1 last attempt to get away...The bass succeeded...snapped my braid like it was nothing...30 lb. Having no stretch isn't always a good thing..I'm back to mono, and landed a 6 this morning with no issues
Everyone's been successfully fishing frogs on monofilament for 50+ years lol
Just discovered your channel, on my second video . Good content 🤙🏾
I had those exact senkos but it would kinda dissolve after a few cast and fall off the hook. I’m not sure why but I bought some regular yum worms and they worked fine
Bro is standing in one spot and has caught more bass from that spot than i have caught all year from boats and kayaks so far
7-8 in Zoom worm, eagle claw weedless hook, I crush bass in NC on this rig so much I get bored of it 😅
A silver rapala that floats
have you tried a scum frog. their my favorite.
I can't believe they're 6$ now at walfart
@@tims_always_fishing7117 ya! there really cheep and of a good quality
I only have bass fished from the bank and catch alot of fish on all types of soft plastic's and crankbait
How do you fish a chatter bait when there is all that scum? How do you get the bait in past that stuff
It's harder to. Odds are you will have to find a slightly more open area. It is possible if the pond scum isn't thick yet to get it close then skip it back over the scum.
Frogs over the scum bladed jigs along the scum edges and openings
If you cant afford a composite rod for chatterbait. A MH regular action rod will substitute adequately.
I'm new at fishing Jacksonville Florida on ponds and I only get lucky with senkos
Pond bass love senkos. I am in Pensacola, small swim baits and toads are my other go too baits most of the time. Don't overlook the effectiveness of a small crappy jig either.
@Steve-ev6vx Thanks. I will definitely try them.
What do you think about using a stinger hook?
How tight should your drag be when frog fishing?
Locked down
any tips for new guys who how no idea what there doing? im using a collapsible rod for now and a spinny reel
Senko fashoooo
Any tips to get a frog to have a similar rattle to your favorite walking bait?
A white/bone wopper plopper is the ONLY thing I've caught fish on so far. Only got two months of bass experience tho lol
Weightless senko is hard to beat too.
SENKO!!!!!!!!!!!
I swear when I see a lure video I can't not click on it.
The number 1 thing that can ruin bank fishing is seeing a cottonmouth 😅
Ever use any copolymer line? If so, what's the go to brand.
Thanks
CJ
Gold rapala floating minnow. If I can only have one lure, that would be it.
What pound test mono would you suggest to fish in the scum ? I only have a spinning rod.
Fishing from the bank means worms and a bobber !
Hello, I was wondering if you might be able to sponsor a guy like me. Awesome video!
