I’ve found that on the ponds I fish, they don’t bite much when I actually jerk a jerkbait. I get way more bites when I use a slightly downsized jerkbait, like the Megabass 110 Jr, and just reel or pull and pause. They usually kill it on the pause. I’ve also done well this year throwing jig head minnows. No need for sonar. Just reel and twitch with some pauses and HANG ON! 😁
Tyler, thanks for making this videos, the best RUclips channel ever!!!! Everything is very well explained, every single detail, for every single bait and type of fishing… this channel is only fishing channel i need, period!!! All the best brother, just continue with what you doing!!🫡💪🔥👏
I appreciate your content!! I started getting serious about fishing back in the summer here in Arkansas. I’ve been struggling to catch fish this winter until watching your channel. Luckily the water on the Arkansas river is still 57° but the 30° temperature changes night/day have been making things challenging. I hooked 6 bass this evening using a smaller soft swim bait after watching some of your videos.
nice mixing it up Tyler, and going back to the roots! Enjoyed it. I actually went to my childhood pond 2 weeks ago and slayed them on blade Vault bream pattern. As you know, it is crazy how effective that blade is in cold water. Merry Christmas!
Great video. The jig head minnow fishing was very helpful instruction. I bought some core tackle hover rigs and picasso ball head jigs to try out. Hasn’t been successful but I’ve also been hopping them like a Ned or jig, didn’t think to reel like that
I just starting to use the jighead Minnow. Shaking it like you do . Going to try this on saturday hopefully. I'm always learning on your videos.Thank you . Should be getting my order tomorrow. Can't wait to use my bass's hats
Just started fishing the Rapala Freeloader on a weighted swim jig head and am crushing the largemouths in my neighborhood ponds in AL. Usually catch a few on a jig, Texas rig, or lipless, but this swim jig has been a game changer. Just bought the newer Mooch Minnow to try out next.
You know you can use your finger tip top knuckle crease to cause tension on the line when reeling...causes the same effect as all that giggling. You might try it. It's much easier.
In cold weather ill fiah for crappie under a slip bobber with a jig, ill give it some action and start counting to 10, alot of times it takes them up to 8 seconds to hit, helps dial in that pattern
I fish the jig head monnow almost exclusively at my favorite lake. I use it mostly for trout but it does pretty well on smallmouth too. I should try it more in the winter on the little pond I fish. In fact I'm going out tomorrow so I'll spend an hour on a jerk bait, and hour on a jig head and them another couple hours on a jig or ned rig. There's some fairly big bass in there but getting them to bite when the water is cold is definitely a challenge.
I just caught a little squeek yesterday on the exact color jerk bait but the smaller 1/4 oz one used spinning rod because it's light. But believe it or not the day before I got a 2 pounder on a hollow body frog and their was still a thin sheet of ice in some parts of the pond. I like the gravel you have the one pound I fish is shallow from the bank and their is alot of things algea grass and it fouls up bait action and I can't drag anything on the bottom without collecting a wad of it
I remember as a kid, seeing my uncle watch fishing on TV. I always thought man that's super boring and how could he watch this. I'm not almost 35 and love fishing myself and watch fishing videos lol
Hi Tyler! Is the first comment here for me, I follow you from Italy and your tips help me a lot! So thank you very much! For the jig head minnow setup, what about the line? I suppose you are using fluoro, but what size?

One thing I’m learning is every location is different
@ absolutely.
I do have an inflatable kayak, but most of my fishing is from the bank. So thanks for the bank fishing videos you present every once in a while.

Great video, bro! I use a round head hover jig, with a small fluke style plastic. It works really well!

Thanks Tyler! Love your videos! Chautauqua Lake is my home lake and I saw your recent video from there!
Thank you for all the time you input this info
I’m in sw OH and been grabbing a few In the winter. Blade baits mainly
I'd love to fish cold open water. Unfortunately here in central Iowa, we've had ice on the water as soon as Dec hit.
Thanks for the tips👍
Great video ! Thanks for the tips !

What rod size and action are you using for the minnow jig?
Great little video
Fishing!!!!
Hey Tyler! i recently got gifted a 5.6:1 reel; what would be a good setup to run with this reel?
Should be a good crankbait reel, so I’d put it on a slightly more moderate rod like a 7 ft or a little less like 6’9.
Deep cranking or big swimbaits/glide baits
6’6- 7 ft medium power. Fast tip. You’ll be straight
More cold water bank fishing
I find that bass get very lazy during the cold season, and respond pretty well to a slow retrieved with gracious pauses with a stick bait.

Should have used a grub. You're welcome.
