Tyler, I am an experienced, hard core angler and I want to thank you for consistently putting out in-depth, quality content. I have become a better angler because you are willing to share the presentation tips you have learned through hard work and trial and error. In my opinion you have the best all around fishing RUclips channel. Thank you!
Does " matching the hatch" truly matter? It seems to be that a fish " or any predator for that manner, will attempt to eat anything that it believes can fit in its mouth
Chatter baits vibrate so violently that the plastic trailer doesn't need any action. It's going to be shaken HARD by the action of the blade. I like simple original flat Flukes. The body really shakes well. I also trim the skirt to have a more conical profile so there isn't an abrupt end to the material. I'm a fly fisherman originally and profile to me is super important.
Dude every time i have a question while watching one of your videos you end up answering it by the end. Awesome explanations and just a great channel. Thanks!
The Mini Max in Pearl Ghost in 3/8's with a 10,000 Fish Yoto worm in white silver flake has been the absolute magic bullet for me this winter on the California delta and almost every lake I've hit. Was so nice to see a lot of what I do, covered in this video. Chatterbaits have been my go-to for years, and the alternating retrieve speeds, twitches, and pauses are so key. Was a tiny bit surprised to not see yo-yoing covered here, as that's been a clutch technique too but admittedly more situational. This has got to be about my favorite video now. Thank you for this and showing some love to my beloved chatter :D
Great video, thank you for not vlogging like other fishermen on RUclips and actually getting into it lol. I’m from south Texas, and as the name states my go to rig is the Texas rig, however it doesn’t always produce the biggest fish. I’ve been looking into chatter baits a lot more recently and this video rocks man 🤙🏽
Tyler, I just started watching your videos in the last two days & I am glad I did. I watch a lot of fishing videos & yours are the best. They are so instructional & informative, I find myself taking notes! I will be dropping some of the other videos I have been watching. Keep pumping them out, I am here to learn!! Thanks much!!!
Go out when there's good water color, that good greenish early spring color. Find those transition banks with red clay, limestone, or bluff ends. If there are laydowns there, there will be bass. Try to fish the sunny sides of main feeder creeks in the back 1/3, and parallel that type of shoreline. Use the chatterbait anywhere you would imagine a spinnerbait would be choice. Stick with natural baitfish colors at first, get brave with red during early prespawn when the bass are rubbing those banks in less than 6' of water. Slow-roll it just like a spinnerbait, just lightly tapping the bottom every few feet. Let the fish load up when they bite, they will often push a foot of slack in your line then turn away.
I'm new to the bass fishing you've been very informative and helpful and I love the Chaturbate I've been catching 345 lb bass I can't remember the last time ever being so excited and catching a fish thanks again be safe out there
Mini-max all the way for me. I throw a bunch of chatterbaits, O.G and Jackhammer do all right, Big Blade doesn't seem to cut it - not even on pike, but I get bites on mini left and right. The zako to me has a lazy wobble to it's action, the razor shad is quicker and tighter. I have some Berkley Power Stingers I want to try out when the ice thaws as well, I am intrigued with the honey comb like the Gilly swimbaits.
My go to bait all the time! I started using the versa craw as trailer last year and love it. Also had best spring fishing ever using red one last year. Once spring was gone it was done then black/blue rest of year
Great video , I started throwing a jackhammer about three years ago so I'm still learning so this video is really helpful , this past summer when the chatterbait bite died off I started experimenting with fishing them deep off ledges in my local lake, although I didn't get a lot of bites I did catch some bigguns and got a 6.2 and a 5.7 on back to back casts , can't wait to try it on Chickamauga , as of right now I'm struggling to get bit on one this winter so far but keeping one tied on and experimenting with different sizes and retrieves
@@tims_always_fishing7117 hogfarmer spunk shad , big bite baits kamikaze swimon, baby brushhog, missile baits baby d-stroyer or any other used creature baits you have laying around, I think a lot of people overthink a trailer
Great video you made one awhile back that went into detail about chatterbait trailers that helped me catch more fish I'd like to say thanks and keep up the good work
Wow! Big fish!! I just heard Cody speak at the Fishing Expo in Madison, WI. He talked about this day. Spoke about the topic of his presentation which was Swim Bait fishing. I thought to myself... I already knew most of what he presented from watching Tactical Bassin. Lol Little did I know you guys know each other well and you were actually there that day. Cool video!
The terminator shudder bait that I found at the river before I had caught onto the chatter bait game is what I caught my PB on just under 6 lbs which in NH is a giant , had a lot of luck with that combo my first year getting back into fishing but these days I go with the mini max or Jack hammer I find that white no Matter how clear or murky the water seems to always work same with spinner baits . New England fish seem to like the white
Excellent video I’m in central California and I’ve had very little success with bladed jigs. I’m going to try these tips and let you know how it turned out.
I have a lake with grassbeds and scattered grass that I want to learn. Recently got an Andy Montgomery signature rod for bladed jigs. It's also a great lipless crankbait rod. I plan on ordering another one that will be on my boat deck! It's very sensitive and has a parabolic action. Love it!
Soddy Bait and Tackle in Soddy Daisy makes the best chatterbaits I fished so far. The black and purple during the hot hot dog days in the Chickamauga lake hammers fish
Hello fellow Ohioan. I've found all your videos to be very helpful for that thing I didn't know or think of. I have definitely found some game changers in certain Ohio waters on my own that didn't fit the norm for the time of year. Specifically late summer through mid fall bass on East harbor and Spencer lake. One of those works on both and is not what you would think of using for bass at that time but it was killer in mid fall Spencer in particular when no one around me caught anything. There is plenty I picked up from you that is solid info and advice. Keep up the great work!
Tyler, another great video. Like the jig, I have thrown the chatterbait without catching a fish yet. I had one strike but that was it so far. Like the jig, I will need to be more patient and try it as the bass get more active in the coming weeks after we get a real cold front in Florida and the water warms up afterwards 😉
I've fished these since they first hit the market and I always use a Palomar Knot. Won many local tournaments on it and usually only lose it to Pike...
Tyler I love watching your videos I learn so much. I’m just now getting back to fishing I never knew there was so much to learn, you’re a great teacher. Thank you
Thank you so much for this video, I have been looking for a very in depth video on chatterbaits as I have never had really any luck with them and my confidence was never really high in them, granted I have only been serious fishing for about 2 years so I am still learning and this video helps a huge amount.
Tip: look for bladed jigs from smaller lure makers. IMO - Zman and Jackhammers are used so often the bass are catching on to the vibration. I’ve used Motion Fishing Seekers for 2 years and it’s outperformed Jackhammers by at least 2:1
Tyler I've used fire craw an plumb in the summer as well plumb colored ribbon tails an 3d creature bail lures that look exactly like creyfish an bass crushed them 🙂
I LOVE finesse type bladed jigs. There are some companies making 1/8 oz and lighter, with blades the size of a pinky fingernail. Talk about spot candy!!
A friend of mine swears by chatterbaits, but always bought fast or ex fast rods, and lost a LOT of fish. For christmas/black friday, i bought him a mod/fast (composite) rod. His hook up percentage went from 40% to 95%.

That Yamamoto Zeko looks disgustingly good as a trailer, absolutely heading to academy to pick some up and a red chatterbait. I literally have no red or orange baits, nor a chatterbait so this will round out my gearbox. Great Job as always Tyler
I work a chatter bait in PNW...my go to next is spinner blade and jigs..Tex too....🍺🍺🍺 I'll definitely try those trailer setups this season.. 💥 PS a zoom lizard on a chatt hit for me 2022..
I would never waste money on the jackhammer. Even on this video, it has the same sound as the standard Z man bait which is what I throw and have done extremely well in tournaments and guide trips with.
I have been using a falcon 6.8 medium action rod for a long time. You dont feel them hit it at all. It gets heavy, I set the hook and they come to the boat most every time.
Wow!! Awesome instructional video!! A lot of good info to absorb!! Makes sense on the rod selection. If you think about it, like I did while watching, it's like a crankbait even though it's a single hook but a moving bait. Now to watch the jig video!!! Stay Safe & God Bless!!
29:59 I gotta say Tyler, I’ve seen your video on skippin, I know your pretty much a wizard when it comes to skippin (when you did 6 different types of skips in one take, yeah that was pretty impressive lol) but if it was me out there skippin into someone’s boathouse…well, I just know I’d probably bounce it off a window or something, probably have to go swimming to unhook it from the boat, lol.
