I was hoping you did more with your RUclips channel, because I figured you would give out great info. Between you and Edwin I’ve learned a lot. Great job!
Thanks for the great video jason.. I've been fishing spinnerbaits all my life. But realized just now I never really understood them like I thought I did. Keep them coming.
Mr. Christie great video lots of information. You are the ultimate in Spinnerbaits currently and follow greats such as Jimmy Houston and Hank Parker. Both of those guys were spinnerbait legends as well. Please keep up the great content and good luck this upcoming season.
I can’t go anywhere without a spinner bait. I have my outside the box baits that that have special times and places. Some you mentioned are in that group. Keep up the great videos. Tight lines and Godspeed
Great video! Love the knowledge! I wish you would have added the Indiana and Oklahoma blades in the mix. I’ve had really good luck in my area recently with the Oklahoma blade. My best spinnerbait day was Dec 19 of 2019 fishing tannic water color air temp was mid 30’s water temp 49 and for no knowledgeable reason I tied on a 1/2 oz white with double white Colorado blades and no trailer(trailer hook) caught 41lb and biggest 5 was 18.8lb which is a great bag for my area of South Alabama. Of course I was not in a tournament!😜😂😂🎣🎣
I actually had front row seat on your Bass University Tulsa the last two years you were there, Learning everything you taught in this video face to face.
great video if a person doesn't understand spinner baits and for a person with a lot of experience it a good refresher looking forward to more videos you have a great way of presenting information
Good stuff Jason! I live in Wyoming and have always had awesome success with spinner baits. Great break down of how and when to use each variable. Excited for the the ice to come off. Good luck this year. I’ll be cheering you on!
Really nice video with great information, I have allways caught a lot of fish on spinnerbaits but have rarely used a trailer and even then it was most likely a twin tail. I am ready to give those you like a try. Thanks
Hey Mr Christie excellent video alot of the stuff you were talking about I had no idea about how technical this is I just started learning this year about 3/4 oz spinnerbaits and how effective they are I use to use 3/8 and 1/2 oz spinnerbaits and a lot of times I wasn't getting bit and I think now I wasn't useing the right blades or weight size . Thanks so much for this info. Hey Mr C I'm almost 60 years old I'm supposed to be teaching you. But it's the opposite way around. Hey Jason when I was younger I thought you guys were lying all the time and then when I started reading bassmaster magazine and these techniques you guys were talking about started catching me fish . So I sat down on my couch and said which shoe should I put the salt on because these bass guys are going to want to stick my foot in my mouth. So I whent out to this lake near my house and I couldn't catch nothing on my grubs ( Gary yomomoto) so I remembered the technique I was reading about ticking the branches of the wood with a spinnerbait. So I grab my spinnerbait rod and I tick the tree limb and I get a bass I tick the tree again and get another bass I tick the tree and get another bass after the third one that was it .point being and that's when I really started believeing in you guys big time. Just figured I'd tell you a story about my experience that day and that was about 20 years ago. Thanks for teaching me All this stuff about fishing I really appreciate you big time I wish I could go fishing with you just for one day. GOD bless you and your family and your families from your tv shows your pal fisherman Mike from Missouri.
saw the interactive chart yall made in the recent bassmaster mag. Pretty nifty tool to have man, good idea. yall should do more of those for diff baits.
Great in-depth breakdown on when and what and how to fish the spinner bait. I used it quite often this past summer on the water. But caught a lot of pickerel on them.
Just ordered my first actual BASS boat with 2 10" Garmin Echomap Ultras. Im very excited obviously and have little experience with graphs in general as they are pricey and this is my first set. I would love an in depth video or series on all your favorite settings and anything you have learned on using them along with any tips you can give a first time user of sidevu and the mapping abilities/adjustments/waypoints. Go get them at the CLASSIC!!!.....and elites. Ill be routing you on from Africa until I get back home to east TN this spring. Caught my PB 8.0 last year on the 1/2oz white/blue/chart double colorado Covert. So thanks for that and your time reading this. God bless.
Thanks so much for giving clarity and making sense. Best tutorial I have seen. I will watch it again and again to dail in on how to get it right. Just one question. What do you look for when it comes to mixing the color of the blades. Like copper willow with a silver Colorado or vise versa.
Thank you for the tips. I love spring-fall spinnerbait fishing. Never found the confidence to use it in the winter. You helped change that. If you had to pick power and action for a spinnerbait rod, what’s the first one you would pick time and time again?
I typically throw cara head turner or eye crossed which are both heavy powers. Head turner has little softer tip though. www.falconrods.com/product/cara?via=jc
I love using your single Colorado blade covert 1/2 oz white and blue slow rolling I get the bigs to bite man they really can’t help themselves from eating it’s unreal I never liked a spinner bait I couldn’t buy a bite with one , until I picked one of your coverts up totally changed my mind on spinner baits . True Engineering when you see and fish this dude Spinner Bait you will realize all the thought that has gone into his Spinner bait , I mean come on that off set lead head genius lot of time fishing with a bait to have thought of that Bravo perfect length wire too hook ratio so you don’t get hung up Bravo Jason Thanks dude
i have been trying to stick with smaller spinner baits like eighth and quarter ouncers just because I have been fishing a med light rod a lot and the hooks are smaller for smaller fish too. Will have to move on up to the half ouncers when I finally get out to some more expansive waters.
Hey Jason what spinnerbait would you recommend for the Sabine River and what colors would you recommend as well buddy you and kvd are my favorite fishermen
I'll follow u anywhere! Spinnerbaits my favorite bait this was a good video. How do u store your blades Jason? I keep mine in a deep 3700 in individual bags
Okay I believe in understanding what I'm doing so this will be around 5 in 5 days what is the basic breakdown for spinnerbaits. I know of about 5 different kinds of spinners. And I recognize seven different water types and the Spinners to be using under those water conditions. And I'm starting to recognize some of the nuances in The Spinners. Let's see if I can learn something new from you today that would be fun.
Jason, do you ever fish a sb on bottom like fishing a jig? A well known sb guy here in FL pitches sb, jiggles blades a couple times then pitches into next spot.
Yes. Not on bottom bottom. In the first spinnerbait video the fish we’re holding tight to the bottom. I would slow roll the spinnerbait over their heads and wait for them to come off bottom and get it.
Another great video! I know I have asked you previously about line size for a spinnerbait and you said 20lb fluorocarbon. Do you change that when fishing a 3/8 oz spinner bait?
I seen ott Defoe in video other day throwing a big willow w orange kicker catching Giants in cool water. There's nothing like this in the covert lineup thoughts on that?
Yes I do recognize that weight is important and spinnerbaits and I also recognize that if I'm going to be running spinnerbaits I better be running baitcasters and medium heavy rods because ugly sticks do not set the hook and if I'm running a light rod for a heavy bate monofil may not be my best bet so move two braid.
i realize he is just explaining things slowly and carefully and I definitely need that as a novice bass fisherman. Hahaha but also if you didn’t know the context of what he was trying to say, it sorta sounds and looks like he really really really does not want to do the video…. or was forced to…. or is super super bored or super super tired the way he sounds😂
I grew up on spinnerbaits man I love myself but using the chatterbait especially one of the ones made out of titanium or wherever they are those things happen money in the winter time dark water ChatterBait with a dark pumpkin skirt and a crawfish trailer red preferably really slow give it a couple jerks under the water get it like pop in actions
How do you add a trailer hook with soft plastic trailer? I tend to only use a trailer hook when I'm not adding a soft plastic trailer. I would rather use a trailer plastic at all times but find it difficult to have good action with a trailer hook as well. In a perfect world, I would use a trailer hook 90 percent of the time
Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
That is a Masterclass on what I would consider the most versatile bait in the box. Weight, blades, slow rolling, burning it... Great video JC
Damnnn this is one of the most informative videos ive seen in a while!!! Make more of these so I can binge watch !!!
Best MasterClass on RUclips. Can't wait for a series of these!

Tight lines and Godspeed
Great information Jason! Thanks for simplifying!
I love spinnerbaits, it is my go to lure, I fish it at least 75% or the time. Always playing with shirts, trailers, color and blades
Good stuff! Enjoying the new content and keep them coming.

Thank you for a great video and information. You really broke it down well.
Got what I needed to know. You're the man
Jason great video! Great info on Spinner Bait basics..
Mr Jason is one best spinnerbait fisherman around have caught several 6 lb plus bass on his Covert spinnerbait he s the best from Ohio.
My favorite RUclips fishing channel. Great info. 👍

Great job Jason - learned a lot from your presentation. You cleared up a lot of questions I had on the blades and colors. Thanks man!

Depends on water clarity. Silver for clear, gold for dirty. The covert series has the exact combinations I throw
One last thing. Manufacturer of the Covert series. I'm from South Africa and need to see who distribute them here.
Thank you Mr. Christie
All these tips like this from new to old videos from the pros is very affective on the water guys
Best spinnerbait guy!!!

The best teacher 👍🏼🔥🐸🎣
Excellent tutorial.
Here in Louisiana we fish the heck out of dem tings! All our spinnerbaits have chunks of paints missing off the heads baw!
Great stuff right there
Good luck
Come Summer I might just try some of of these tactics up here in Canada!
Great Video
i have been trying to stick with smaller spinner baits like eighth and quarter ouncers just because I have been fishing a med light rod a lot and the hooks are smaller for smaller fish too. Will have to move on up to the half ouncers when I finally get out to some more expansive waters.
GREAT VIDEO 🔥🔥🔥
Great tips! What are your thoughts on the old school twin tail trailers?
Thanks for the information 👍
i think this might be my favorite bait
Thanks
Thanks Jason
I’m putting as much of that as I can into a chart because all those specs and factors overwhelm me.
Hey Jason what spinnerbait would you recommend for the Sabine River and what colors would you recommend as well buddy you and kvd are my favorite fishermen
Hard to say without knowing water conditions. 1/2 oz double Colorado is typically a good choice there this time of year
Wire lined up with the hook straight and at an angle no greater than 45 no less than 38.
Great start new information let's rock and roll.
Grew up fishing Ky and Barkley lakes. Learned a ton from AJ Edwards who was a master with the spinnerbait. His was the Brush master.
I'll follow u anywhere! Spinnerbaits my favorite bait this was a good video. How do u store your blades Jason? I keep mine in a deep 3700 in individual bags
Same
Excellent
best ever, thanks so much

No, same line size
@@Christiefishing Thanks!
I seen ott Defoe in video other day throwing a big willow w orange kicker catching Giants in cool water. There's nothing like this in the covert lineup thoughts on that?
The covert line is what has worked for me over the years. I will have more videos on this topic and how/why I chose my blade combinations
Solid guy!

No I don’t use them

This man put on a spinner bait clinc on Toledo Bend back 2017. The trailers look exactly the same as what he was using back then.
Couldn't locate the "heat map" on the lurenet site. Sounds like an very handy tool for help in selecting the best suited lure.
www.lurenet.com/booyah-covert-series-single-colorado below product info
@@Christiefishing There it is! TY.
You know any choates from sallisaw area?
Where can you access that interactive chart?
Click Booyah Covert link in description and then click on any of the spinnerbaits listed. It is on all covert product pages
Do you ever cut the longer part of the skirt shorter so I don't interfere with the trailer ? Thanks
Not much now that I throw the covert. Occasionally if I want a little smaller profile I will
Thanks for your reply I have really good success with the covert spinnerbaits here in the UK on the big pike , perch and chubb 💪👍
Where can covert series replacement skirts be purchased
Not sure they have those. Lurenet.com would be the place
I have a fee I use and one of them is the one you have for booyah
I fish a lake that is very muddy 2 -4 inch visibility and bright white with white blades seems to be the best instead of dark colors. Any idea why?
Typically they are feeling the blades in that dirty of water. White blades might be helping them see it
I wish I could fish a week with this dude, and pick his brain!

4in swimming dinger or 5 inch? I notice there is a difference in size of paddle tail.
I use both

Thump, flash, size , and color, in that order.
for me it seems like all the bait is hit or miss no pun intended :-)
I love all bites but when they are on the spinnerbait they just kill it and it's a different kind of bite!!!!
