On top of large wake baits, I love giant spinner baits as well, especially in spring. The one ounce ledgebuster with two willows, one being a number 8. I only throw it in the wind, but it gets giants!!!! Spinnerbaits in general, lost their fan base but they never stopped working.

Used to hate throwing spinnerbaits. Now I don't leave home without them. My favorite full-size is the River2seas Bling which I got after watching one of your videos about it a few years ago. My favorite compact is the Strike King® Tour Grade Double Willow Compact Spinnerbait.
People forget how fun spinnerbait fishing actually is. It’s just as or better than a jig bite. Actually similar to a swimbait bite because of the jig hook style of bait. Perfect baitfish mimic and a war eagle screaming eagle is my go to for Northern California reservoirs with no trailer specifically.
This morning I went out at 5:00 a.m. and I got in the water around 6:00 Ward my kayak to my spot with it being about 41° watet temperature 55°. I had an old spinner bait which I bought a ton of blades from Nichols and I even bought some Indiana blades. I said what the heck I wasn't having much luck so I just casted the Indiana and I'll be damned five pounder. That was all it took for me to be happy for today I went on home and got warm.
I learned my first year of fishing, gotta go to a spinner bait around wood cover. 90% snagless through wood cover. I love my Levante Diablo Spec-R for spinnerbait fishing paired up with my Chronarch 150XG. Killer
Great video guy's! I love the Shimano Curado mgl 70 for roll casting spinnerbaits. It's perfect for that. I agree a DC is needed for overhand casting with wind. Personally, I just throw S.B. cross wind or down wind when the breeze pick's up. Most of my biggest Bass came on finesse 3/16th oz.
If you haven't, get some OSP high pitchers (downsized) and high pichter max (full sized). They have light wires, great blades, awesome colors. Some colors have 3 different color schemes on the blades but still natural. They're the best spinnerbaits I've ever used and easily the most underrated on the market. Evergreen also has some great sb's. As for bang for the buck, check out the Zorro bang o blade. Super light wire, unique head shape that keeps it tracking true, can't recommend them enough. Edit: the Gamakatsu G-Power trailer hook that A-Mart designed is unreal and I can't go back to any other trailer hook.
My favorite two spinner baits right now are the Berkeley Powerblade and the Booyah Covert Series. Absolutely smashed them this year everywhere in those!
The Zodias 6'10 MH w/Shimano Scorpion DC spooled with 15 lb flouro is my go to rod. It's such a versatile rod. The Leatherman of that rod line for sure 💯 I caught a ginormous Pike from the shore using a chatterbait. It dug into some reeds, but I was able to horse it out of there with this rod from the bank.
This is the one video I look for all year. The spinnerbait is my #1 bait. I've learned how to fish it year round from using it offshore in the dog days of summer to below freezing in the middle of winter. I mainly fish The Ohio River and as anyone who fishes the same river on here can tell you, the smaller the better to match the hatch. A question I have is how does the Shimano Swagey compare to the Nichols Pulsator size wise? I'm wanting to order a few Shimano's but want to know what kind of profile they have so I don't end up with bigger frames I won't use very often.
Your videos are awesome and very helpful. I really like the way you store your spinnerbaits in the buzbe bags. I would like to know how many you can put in one bag. Look forward to more of your awesome videos.
@tacticalbassin the last time I threw a spinnerbait I almost ended that losing streak. I was throwing one with a keitech for a trailer, slow rolling over the top of a submerged grass flat. Blue bird skies and windy AF. Finally got bit, absolutely HAMMERED it, but my dumb butt never checked my drag so when I set the hook... Nothin 😓

These videos are amazing. So much information it’s insane. Best fishing channel on RUclips. I have a question, if you can only have two combos one spinning one casting, how would you set it up? Which rods, type of line, size reels? Two do it all combos. I’m asking because I don’t want to run around with a bunch of rods to fish. Two is fine for me. I think this question would make a good video because I know not everyone has or wants a hunch or rods to fish

Hey long time listener and before I ask any questions I just want to say thank you so much for helping me advance in my fishing journey! You guys have something really special going on! I’ve heard you guys talk a lot about the Shimano zodias rods I just recently bought their 7‘2“ medium heavy glass and I was wondering what your opinions on that rod for my first crank bait rod? Thank you again sry for the long rant, and tight lines 😁🎣
That will work just fine as a crankbait rod for all your small to midsize crankbaits. You'll start losing it around a 6XD and definitely can't go larger, but it's going to work well for everything else.
@@tacticalbassin Sweet! I can’t wait to finally fish crank baits and not lose fish 😂also have you guys fished herring lakes? I primarily fish them and I was wondering if you have any advice?
I appreciate the spinnerbait storage suggestion. I asked you about crankbait storage on that video. Do you guys store crankbaits by brand or by depth? I am never satisfied after all these years of fishing.
We store spinnerbaits by type, depth, and specific model... all depending on the category. If it's something we don't have too many of, we group similar depth diving baits. But with categories like squarebills they're often done model by model.
@tacticalbassin I can't believe you have anything too little of. 🤣 Thanks for your help. I basically do the same, but I guess I'm never satisfied. I just cleaned out the boat, and everything is in the garage, and all messed up. So it's organization time. Thanks again. Take care.
When I started I found this system. I started off using 1 rack generic spinnerbaits. You can always find a good ol chartreuse and white. They're always either a 1/4 or a 3/8 with a big willow, small Colorado combo. If I'm throwing a 1/4 or a 3/8 I'll use a 3.8 keitech and then if im throwing a 1/2 that's when I'll put that 4.3 on.
I live on Grand Traverse Bay/ Lake Michigan and fish smallies almost every day when I can. I never throw a spinnerbait and just curious if I wanted to throw a finesse style spinnerbait; what one would you suggest for that ultra clear water smallie action?
I’ve seen several negative reviews about the reel seat on the Tritons not locking down. Have you guys experienced this? I love my gen 1 mojo glass and like the way the new ones feel but the negative reviews are concerning.
We've fished a handful of them and not had a single issue. If I were to guess, the particular reels those reviewers had were really small. I say that because 15+ years ago there was a run of rods from another brand that did exactly that... If you put a 50 size reel on them, they'd pop off under load.
Most people got there first fish on live nightcrawler 🎣 but got there large fish on a spinner in mini strike king or mini Booyah is my favorite for the price point can't beat it. For under $3 each was not to like with a 3 inch soft plastic trailer. The heavier lures get snagged up very easily in the pown I fish has carpet on the bottom the hole pown. I wonder how many lures ar stuck in that crap. I've lost 8 to 10; lures a year so cheep is the way to go and lightweight 1/8 ounce or under with trailer 1/4 to 3/8 ounce around 7g to 10g on the scale. the lure box says 1/4 ounce or like a 1/8 Booyah on scale is 10 grams with out trailer on it ⁉️
I used to love spinnerbaits but everytime I go to the lake from march through end of may there is 45 boats or more and at least 88 anglers throwing spinnerbaits. They are a staple here no one throws anything else. So when you do a spinnerbait full video talk about what to throw when there is to to many spinnerbaits already. Thank you for all you do.
Thank you. That is what I have been doing with some success. Thanks to your Chatterbait videos. Just want a few more options. Again Thank you@@tacticalbassin
Thanks Matt/Tim. Really a Loomis for a spinnerbait? There are so many spinnerbait rods that would do the job as good as the Loomis. If there's one technique that doesn't need a special rod this may be it.
I’m probably doing something wrong, but when looking for rods that you have recommended, you have to select length, power, etc. They don’t have model numbers like you put down in the description.
You're not doing anything wrong. Tackle Warehouse re-vamped their website and made it virtually impossible to decipher rod lengths, actions, and models. Worst job ever for trying to figure out rods.

Literally since day one I've always downsized baits that I can. I see countless times people I know and see on the water throwing full size baits always and only getting 4 fish when I'm catching 20. Some people just ignore it.
Mouse is a serious fish catcher... can't forget about Hot Mouse either! They weren't snubbed... just can't fit it all into a Buyer's Guide. Come back for a full seminar and see if they make the cut 👍🏼
100% possible, you need a deep runner. Heavy weight with small willows will stay down 👍🏼 The Megabass SV-3 in 3/4 oz should hold depth really well. If you want a big full size bait, look at the blade runner 1.5 oz.
Jewel Bait Company has a spinnerbait with a twisted blade that doesn't add any lift at all. I've fished it in 80-100 ft of water and caught largemouth bass that deep on it as well. BIG ones.
So my thoughts was, and even in past videos, why is strike king and Booyha don’t make the cut? Are they to common? Are they junk? I’ll be honest, the gear and baits y’all show and use I want to get my hands on. But some stuff I just can’t afford to replace if it gets lost. I understand you have everything for guys like me in past videos. Just curious why strike king and Booyha don’t make the videos. If I’m buying junk I don’t want to 😂 thanks guys yall are awesome!
It's all about the angles that the baits run at. I'd they're tipped back on the retrieve, we won't use them. Check your baits and focus on the baits that run flat for more bites 👍🏼
@@tacticalbassin I’m going to have to put my GoPro in the water and see which ones run like what with and without a trailer. I do love the war eagle’s. Just look at the symmetry next time you pick up either of those brands. As a matter of fact, compare 2 of the exact same bait. They won't be the same. Their manufacturing techniques make it impossible for them to be symmetrical.

I've lost 8 to 10; lures a year so cheep is the way to go and lightweight 1/8 ounce or under with trailer 1/4 to 3/8 ounce around 7g to 10g on the scale. the lure box says 1/4 ounce or like a 1/8 Booyah on scale is 10 grams with out trailer on it ⁉️
Check out the Brian Schmidt hair spinnerbaits 1/2 oz is absolutely money for spotted bass and large mouth
❤again gentleman “AWESOME JOB” and Matt we welcome RABBIT HOLES 🤣😂
Ha! Thanks Ken!!
Sounds like a chatterbait is what you need to throw. It pays to be different!
Thank you. That is what I have been doing with some success. Thanks to your Chatterbait videos. Just want a few more options. Again Thank you@@tacticalbassin
What are your thoughts on an 844 mbr doubling as a chatterbait rod? Some ppl think you need two different rods. Do I?
We prefer 2 different rods but you could totally make that work. The 844 can do almost anything.
@@tacticalbassin thank you for the reply, I've been following you guys since 2015 or so. I love what you're doing here.
@@bigfah2506 No way!! Thank you so much for the continued support!
Thanks Matt/Tim. Really a Loomis for a spinnerbait? There are so many spinnerbait rods that would do the job as good as the Loomis. If there's one technique that doesn't need a special rod this may be it.
Agreed, in fact I think we said that. But that really is the rod we use because it works for so many different techniques.
I’m probably doing something wrong, but when looking for rods that you have recommended, you have to select length, power, etc. They don’t have model numbers like you put down in the description.
They just fixed it... select a model and length then click "specifications". That will give you the names or numbers we use.
You're not doing anything wrong. Tackle Warehouse re-vamped their website and made it virtually impossible to decipher rod lengths, actions, and models. Worst job ever for trying to figure out rods.
I mean you gies are straight killin it every day upload ? Killin the wallet as well but doin an awsome job boys … think it’s time to get out in that cold an crack a couple though aye ??? Next vid ???
Thanks Justin! We've still got a few more to go but rest assured we're out there in the cold catching and that's coming too 🙂
Beast mode boys !!!! Would love to show you gies some of the smallys were still getting up here !!!! ( lake Champlain ) … with almost freezing temps but can’t wait to watch an learn to see what you gies get into !!!!!
Best all round line for spinnerbaits?
40 lb braid to 15 lb leader
Literally since day one I've always downsized baits that I can. I see countless times people I know and see on the water throwing full size baits always and only getting 4 fish when I'm catching 20. Some people just ignore it.
It works for sure!!
War Eagle snubbed big time. Just get you a 1/2oz War Eagle in the mouse color and keep it moving.
Mouse is a serious fish catcher... can't forget about Hot Mouse either! They weren't snubbed... just can't fit it all into a Buyer's Guide. Come back for a full seminar and see if they make the cut 👍🏼
Need a spinner bait that can be retrieved and stay in the 15-17 foot range. Is this possible? Even the big 1.5 ounce will rise on me
100% possible, you need a deep runner.
And I like how a zoom spilt tail looks on a spinner as well. Do yall have a video showing different spinner baits in the water? If not that would be awesome to see. I’ll do one as well and put it on my RUclips channel, Fishing With Faith Outdoors. Keep up the good work fellas these videos really do help!
Just look at the symmetry next time you pick up either of those brands. As a matter of fact, compare 2 of the exact same bait. They won't be the same. Their manufacturing techniques make it impossible for them to be symmetrical.
@@Fishingwithfaithoutdoors23 War eagle baits are perfectly balanced and symmetrical because they use precision molds. They know how to make a good spinnerbait.
Stan Slone spinnerbaits = Dale Hollow
Double willow is a no for me usually
Need to be in closer with the camera to see it
Wait a minute. . . . The blades on spinner baits have different NAMES?!
NOW I've heard EVERYTHING.
Everybody needs a Nrx+ 844c in the boat. That rod will cover 90‰ of bass fishing.
It does (almost) everything! And luckily, guys can get it in the lower lines as well to save some $$$.
War eagle
Yep fish the best for me and can slow roll a half ounce surprisingly deep.
Almost forgot Amazon, Amazon. Amazon!!!
😂
Give me a Nichols or a terminator and I'm good.
