Yoda wasn’t arrogantly assuming he could beat Sideous. He was doing the only thing he could. He and ObiWan were literally the only hope of the galaxy at that precise moment. Huge difference between those two things.
Both things can be true at once. That is the thing about ego, you can be doing the right thing objectively but still have more personal motives that are not being explored in the heat of the moment. And trauma, which many warriors face, is spending the rest of your life reliving the moment and the motives on a loop.
Hell, WAS it arrogance? This was Motha*bleeping* Yoda we're talking about- dude was pretty skilled with a lightsaber and the Force. And lest we forget, Palpatine didn't beat Windu- he needed Lil Orphan Ani to turn to win/survive...
@Gobert Trebog Of course, when that order was given, it was to ensure Palps would give up his emergency powers (with any thoughts of arrest or removal based on his refusal to give up said emergency powers)- and as far as they knew, he was just a slimy politician, not a Sith. That revelation came a tad later- and Windu didn't give Yoda that new information before leaving to the Chancellor's Office. (Somehow, methinks Yoda would've had some suggestions for the plan at that juncture.)
@@Sephiroth144 He used Windu to turn Anakin fully. Palpatine knew that Anakin wanted to protect Padme, and that if Palpatine died he wouldn't be able to save the woman he loved. So I wouldn't say Palpatine NEEDED Anakin to do anything. He allowed what happened to happen so that he could get Anakin past the point of no return.
This explanation misses one important point. Yoda didn't have time to look for Mace Windu. Once he arrived at the Jedi temple on Coruscant and met Obi Wan, they made their plan to confront Palpatine and Anakin/Vader. After Yoda confronted Palpatine and realized he couldn't win, he got out of the Senate building and then off the planet. There was no time to look for Mace.
Whilst it's unlikely Windu survived, all I'll say is that Darth Maul had far less reason to be alive then him and they brought him back. If someone has a decent story to tell about Mace after the events of the Order's fall, go for it.
Maul is a a Sith-Lord who learned to use the dark side in order to cling onto his live and therefor survive beeing cut in half. He said to Sidious that he used his training to survive, right before he and Savage fought him. When Maul lost his legs no vital organs were damaged. Having two hearts and insanly high pain tolerance is the only difference between zabrak and human biology and unlike force healing, were you allow the force to repair your boby, the dark side basicly kills everything inside you which could end your life. Mace Windu is only human and no trained darksider/Sith therefor no darkside hatred whichs makes him too angry to die.
Yoda definitely did have a chance against Palpatine. The problem was just he and Obi-wan had to take on all the clones, the Emperor, and Darth Vader that made it basically impossible to win.
I mean mainly it was the emperor that had to be beaten the issue is while Yoda had a good shot at beating him the Jedi chose to divide their strength rather than focus on one opponent at a time. If Obi Wan had gone to confront the emperor I think it would’ve been enough. Yeah Kenobi can’t even come close to Palp in terms of force ability but he could easily offer support especially in a lightsaber duel being “the master” of form 3. If he had been there Yoda probably wouldn’t have tired out so quickly from Ataru and would’ve eventually gotten the killing blow.
@@jay-1800 in new canon, without the novelizations, i cant see Kenobi offering much support here. Sidious would ragdoll him, as you've mentioned, and it was cause yoda problems. We've seen this type of situation already, albeit a different jedi in skywalker. Palpatines dark ritual based vision through Dookus blood. Yoda would be too concerned with kenobis safety and wouldn't be 100 percent focused, and sadly even that isn't enough. Very close
@@jay-1800 this is Palpatine... That Darkside trained Dooku till Anakin.. those alot better in power an duel abilities barely slowed Palpatine down.. Kenobi woulda lasted only about as long as he was allowed to. The second he decided he was done playing round and/or Obi Wan said or did something to piss the Emperor off an Sideous probably woulda ended him pretty quickly. Unless Yoda or someone else SERIOUSLY worked to be more of a pressing threat an to stay that way. Which woulda been considerably risky against someone like Sideous
@@darth_vedant669 if you recall Palpatine put away his Lightsaber after concluding that he could NOT defeat Yoda in blade to blade combat, so yes Yoda definitely had a chance.
I love the idea that mace survived by absorbing the lighting through vapaad, so much so, it pushed him into the dark side, channeling it too deeply when he got hit. His personality altering. Corrupted by the dark side, and an obsession, a madness of his warrior spirit. In his madness, he seeks out the sith teachings to learn them and destroy them, usurp them in pure battle. Studying the rule of 2 philosophy. Becoming focused on the long game, hiding, using covert means to meet his goals.
Having seen some concept art of Windu looking old, with one normal eye and one milky (inferring he went blind in that eye), I can definitely get down with this!
I’d like a movie where Windu is basically a dark jedi and he goes to strike down Luke since he’s afraid he will turn out like Anakin, then Obi Wan has to duel him but he turns him back to light ..Windu has to leave and face Vader to avoid him sensing his presence on Tatooine which would lead him to Luke
They never showed the true power of Mace, been waiting on a side movie that showed him survive, get a robot hand and other parts to replace what was damaged and go on a vengeance warpath. Star Wars series has just sucked ass I'm sorry
Yoda’s arrogance?!?! What was he supposed to do? Bow down and kiss the ring? Hell naw. Dude went out like a gangster! Plus, who else was going to take on Sideous? There was no one left! Yoda stepped up and ALMOST beat Palpatine head to head. Love these videos. Keep them coming!
Yoda foresaw it but didn’t think to change it bc he thought the force was going to do it. Then mace knew too but its bc he looked into the future that he knew so he basically turned anakin also bc if he never looked into the future he would of treated anakin more fairer
@@leopardtree2249 the council wasn't really fair to Anakin, but that wasn't just because of his future looked "uncertain," he had problems that were seen by the council like a lack of patience and discipline... he also had some anger issues lol. Mace didn't let him get rank of master for good reason... Mace should have tried to help Anakin more with his problems, but I don't think his glimpse into the future would have changed too much, he still would have seen the same things in Anakin that deem his future "uncertain." Mace definitely didn't turn Anakin, Anakin was in a secret relationship that few people knew about, and his attachment to Padme was ultimately the reason for him turning... how can Mace be held responsible for Anakin's turning when Anakin had major attachment that Mace didn't even know about? Anakin would have turned no matter how Mace treated him...Anakin would never go to the council for help with Padme because he was too stubborn and could easily be kicked out of the order had the council known he was married and formed a very strong attachment, which was strictly forbidden. Even if Anakin formed the best relationship possible with Mace he wouldn't have told him what was going on with his visions of Padme dying in childbirth, he wouldn't even tell Obi-Wan
The Fact that decades after Episode 3 people still cling to the hope of a "Windu survived!" reveal probably shows pretty well how his last Scene was such a massive "Wait what, this is how he goes out?!"
@@AmericanNuke54 He also said Jar Jar Binks was a good idea. Seriously though, he did? I've seen countless Theories about it but never before heard there was a Statement by the Creator himself
That’s why it’s such an impactful scene: Mace has Sidious at his mercy, he’s arguably still more powerful than Anakin at this point in the story and he gets taken out by a cheap shot. Sometimes you can have all the tools and plans you need to win but fate might have something different in store for you.
@@cngotham4111 I'm sure he is. I've always thought Anakin was an exception to that rule though. The way I interpret the story is that Anakin, being the Chosen One, is a mortal avatar for the force itself- like the Biblical Jesus is for God. Anakin's purpose as the Chosen One is to 'clear the board' so that balance can be restored and his life is a predestined path- including his maiming by Obi-Wan. What I find most interesting about him is the fact that even though he is the Chosen One and had more force potential than anybody has ever had before, it was the force's will that his life took the path it did and that he fell short of what he was truly capable of. Even Sidious admitted that he would be no match for Anakin if he reached his full potential. It's basically a modern day Greek tragedy: a man at the mercy of the will of the Gods (Force).
@@Censored4UViaGoogle no, Windu vapaad is the best blade form. In shatterpoint, it’s speed is said to be way too great. Coupled with a strong sith. It’s way too OP.
Yoda wasn't arrogant in thinking he could still stop Sidious. He could have. He beat Sidious with the lightsaber and only because of his small size, was blown back so far from the explosion between himself and Sidious. Sidious got blown back into the pods while Yoda had nothing behind him to catch him. When he said he failed, it wasn't him failing to defeat Sidious, it was his failing to stop him. Based on what happened during the fight, Yoda won. He beat Sidious with the lightsaber. He matched him in the force throwing a pod back at him. Then could handle Sidious lightning. There was nothing Sidious could do to Yoda that he couldn't handle. Yoda decided to end the fight because hundreds and hundreds of clones were coming. If Yoda was where Sidious was and Sidious was where Yoda was, Sidious would have been blown off and down while Yoda would have landed in the nearby pods. The fact is both Mace and Yoda defeated Sidious. If that whinny little bitch Anakin didn't betray him, Mace would have killed Sidious and it would have all been over. But, along with every living being in the galaxy, Anakin did betray him. As the stories or theories have been coming, Mace might not be dead after all. NO one knows what happened to his body. If he was dead, surely someone would have found it.
Anakin wasn’t being a “whinny bitch” he was keeping to the code not to mention without Palps Anakin likely would’ve offed himself as Palps was like his father. Anakin was in the right and the little arrogant bitch Windu was in the wrong when he attempted to assassinate Palps instead of arresting him. And IF Windu killed Palps then Windu would’ve made the same thing Palps did almost he would’ve joined the Sith if Anakin didn’t kill him as he was 10x more powerful than him and seeing as Windu never once even gave Anakin a chance didn’t help any in the Clone Wars he even saved Windu twice but Windu instead trusted and respected a droid because he was envious of Ani’s power.
@@venomshadowblood8353 Anakin is a whinny little bitch period. I quote, "It's unfair," "It's all Obi Wans fault. He is holding me back." Just to say a few. He was going to do exactly what should have been done. Apparently you all for the evil and bad things that is for sure. Your probably hoping Satan will win the battle of armageden. One of the things Windu did wrong was feeling the need to take such a big swing when all he had to do was thrust his lightsaber forward. Lightsabers do not need any energy behind them to kill. Just insert like a hot knife into butter and it's over. Windu would have been a fucking hero. Against the Jedi Code to kill an unarmed person but Palpatine was unarmed when he killed 3 Jedi Masters just prior to Windu defeating him and disarming his stupid ass. AT that moment because of who he is, fuck the Jedi Code and elimate the biggest threat to the whole Galaxy. Anakin was right, hahahhahahahahah that little cry baby needed his pants pulled down and his baby little ass beaten. Then he can do all the whinning and crying he likes. What Padme saw in that little bitch is beyond me. Funny you saying he was right about not killing Palpatine but I guess it was ok for him to kill a whole village of sand people including the women and children cause he "hates them." He was completely against obeying the Jedi Code then but right when the Jedi Code certainly shouldn't have been followed. hahahhahaha yeah your all for evil and bad in this world. Your name says it all. Bottomline, Anakin was the worst being to have ever lived in the Star Wars galaxy. Even worse than Palpatine. That extremely stupid ass betrayed the whole galaxy to try and save his wife and yet was the main reason she died. What a fucking moron. Didn't care about his friends, wife and even his unborn children. Only a story but he is even worse than Hitler was in real life. By far. Hahahahahah such a lost soul.
Yeah, the same happened with Obi Wan and Anakin. They were both even in force ability at that time so to force just sent them both flying. It makes sense the George just wanted it to look like a stalemate where neither could win but Palpatine had an army whereas Yoda had nothing so Yoda had to go...
Another important thing people are forgetting is the fact that when Order 66 when into action, the Force switches from Light to Dark. The Force itself was against the Jedi, so Yoda was already behind the 8 ball when he started fighting Sidious. Stover in his novelisation points this out when we writes ' the Light just didn't have it. It never did. ' Yoda being a Master though finally saw through the darkness. Yes, the Jedi Order was hopelessly outdated but what now ? Yoda knew he had to stay alive, with hopefully, Obi-Wan. Yoda used Sidious's plan against him. Sidious should have sought out Yoda and had him killed. Arrogance - drives the Sith but also destroys them. Darth Sidious makes a huge blunder from the beginning in the form of the Death Star. It sapped nearly all the newly created Empire's resources and finances. Interestingly enough, Darth Vader warned his Master about the folly of the Death Star. When Luke Skywalker blew it up with guiding hand of Obi-Wan. Strike 1 - against the Emperor Strike 2 - against the Emperor. The twins Leia & Luke are sensed by Sidious 22 years after their birth. Brilliant move by Yoda & Obi-Wan Strike 3 - Sidious who wanted the Sith to rule for 3,000 years only got a paltry 23 ! Again, Sidious boasting for 23 years 'everything is proceeding as I have seen it" blows up in his face . . . literally. . . as unfortunately, he was on the second Death Star. That's 3 strikes and Out ! His apprentice of 23 years, through his son, trained by Yoda finally saw the Light. This Light was cultivated and nurtured by Yoda. A small candle had become Darth Vader now definitely Anakin saw how the love of his son brought him back from a 23 year Hell.
I think Yoda and Sidious were about equals at the time of their duel. Discounting the novel (which I admittedly never read, so I could obviously be wrong) we see them start fighting with lightsabers, then the movie cuts away. When we come back to their duel Sidious either put his away or lost it during the fight, he doesn't exactly strike me as stupid or suicidal so if it's the former he recognized he'd lose in a straightforward lightsaber duel, or he at least thought they were equals in this regard. If it's the latter that just means he "lost the lightsaber duel". They then fight with force abilities and once again prove themselves to be equals, Sidious seems to have the upper hand but Yoda manages to "block" the lightning and produce a shockwave which blows both of them backwards, Yoda's just closer to the edge than his opponent, prompting his freefall. Sidious might've been very slightly more powerful but he definitively could've lost, the issue there from Yoda's point of view is that a stalemate isn't good enough, in his mind he needed to defeat him. When he fell I think he realized the jedi and the republic as a whole had lost no matter the result of this duel, even if he went back to fight and managed to kill Sidious it wouldn't accomplish anything except prove his accusations towards the jedi attempting to seize power all the more correct in the Senate and the public's eyes. He just fled because it was pointless to stay and fight, the jedi had been completely checkmated.
In legends Mace Windu's damaged lightsaber was discovered by a Duros worker in coruscant underworld and then sold to a Senator. This implies mace windu's body was discovered or so badly messed up his lightsaber was damaged and thus found in the deepest depths of the underworld perhaps even close to the lost museum of humanity that princess leia found.
@@Justin-LaFleur wasn't it both hands that were cut off. I haven't seen the movie since it first came out. So my memory could be off. Only saw it once too.
Or they aren't dead... no body was EVER found. Remember what Palpatine said to the clones when they couldn't find Yoda's body "I want him found, he's not dead"
What made Mace so tactically superior was his Shatterpoint technique. He could look through the force (like force goggles) and see what would turn the tide of a battle or see the holes in your lightsaber defense as you were fighting. Then slip into Vaapad, which is a form that you let the force control your movements in the heat of battle and destroy who he's facing. The main reason Vaapad was so feared and not openly taught. Was it was so good that when it dawned on the practitioner that he was basically untouchable, that feeling would draw them to the Dark side. Depa was maces last padewan, and she turned when she was sent on a mission to Mace home world, which is a very harsh kill or be killed kind of world. And had to go deep into Vaapad in order to survive. When she realized she was untouchable she went to the dark side. And Mace was sent to take care of her.
The duel between Yoda and Palpatine was a lot closer than this video makes it seem. Yoda stopped force lightning with his bare hands which shocked Palpatine. But the light side of the Force had been greatly weakened by Order 66 which gave Palps the edge.
@Katak I feel Yoda had the edge in fight with a light sabre but Palpatine had more raw power as shown by constantly flinging those senate seats at him and Yoda was over 800 years old.
I think time was a factor too. Yoda may have been able to match and even beat Palps, but can he fend off clones and kill him? After he fell, I think he realized that going for another long drawn out fight wasn't an option.
When I watch it, it seems like yoda defeats him with lightsaber combat, and then stailmates him with the force. He loses the high ground and wisely admits defeat like a real master, unlike anakin, who gets himself scarred because of it.
1. He didn't have time to just stroll the streets looking for signs of him or his body. 2. As yoda says you must learn to let go. Going to look for him isn't letting go. 🤷♂️
I still feel like Windu survived. He was only hit with a blast of Force Lightening and arms being cut off are pretty common. The Fall too, Windu has survived other long falls. George and Sam say he survived, so I think he survived.
He was hit full force with lightning which is more than enough to kill any Jedi. I believe it’s confirmed that Palpatine electrocuted him with everything he had. I do believe that he died too easily, even with the explanation that he didn’t sense Anakin’s attack because he was too focused on killing Sideous and ending the Sit

I’d like to believe Windu is still alive. It’s possible that he hide his force signature/presence in response to the shatterpoint he became aware of far too late (or misread) and his defeat to Sidious and Anakin. And perhaps additional shatter points that he may have seen in the aftermath.
Mace Windu never had any reason to learn the meditation technique necessary to hide his force signature and if he survived the fall (which he didn't), Sidious AND Anakin would've felt his presence in the force and would've rushed out of the building to finish Mace, who would be nothing more but prey for them in his almost dead condition.

The thing is that Yoda was winning when it was a lightsaber duel, so to say that he was completely wrong about being able to beat Sidious is wrong itself.
Mace started that duel with a 4v1. Hardly fair and square. Palpatine had to execute 3 kills by hand, which was 10 strikes plus a forward roll. That requires alot of effort and we've seen sith like dooku vs nightsisters play out. They tire out even while dominating, and it can lead to getting disarmed. A disarm is usually not enough against a sith lord, though.

@D'Artagnan Reigns he clashes sabers with fisto and windu while simultaneously attacking and killing those 3 masters. This forward blitz was a full effort maneuver. Between losing 90% of his order, trying to take back his temple, losing his top 3 contemporaries, dueling Palpatine to a stalemate on Corescant, protecting a dying Padme while she delivers the twins, and subsequently fleeing to Degobah before Vader and Palpatine finds him, he was kinda short on time. @@KDthunder2009 saber portion he performed better. In the force contest, if it kept going, would have been hard for him to keep up against unlimited power
Mace was probably the better duelist than Yoda... I just think that the Stupendous Wave was saying that it may have been arrogant of Yoda to try and fight back when they had already lost... he couldn't accept that the time of the Jedi was over for the time being and that they had already failed by allowing the sith to rise in power right underneath their nose
Also, I think Yoda could have beaten Sideous. I think he realized that if he did it wouldn't matter because Anakin/Vader was still out there. Yoda was in tune with the force and knew that then wasn't the time. He knew, despite a victory over Sideous, that the battle for the Republic was, for the time being, lost. So, he retreated and played the long game.
When exactly was Yoda supposed to look for Mace? It wasn’t like he had a lot of time. He met Obi Wan and they shut down the recording and replaced it, then quickly devices a plan to take on Palpitine and Anakin at the same time. As for Yoda, he was definitely much more powerful than Mace. They were almost equals at dueling, Yoda with a slight advantage, and Yoda was way ahead of Mace when it came to controlling the force. Studying the force for nearly 1000 years tends to give one an big advantage. And that advantage also put Yoda on par with Palpitine, pretty much a stalemate. I believe that if their fight had continued, Yoda would have beaten Palpitine. This would of only given more weight to the argument that the Jedi were trying to take over the Republic, making them the enemy of everyone. And since Palpitine had the whole backup plan, he would have won in the end.
i don’t think yoda quit for the sake of the jedi’s reputation. That’s very far fetched since letting palpatine win caused so much death. Mace did come closer to beating palpatine and that was before he got shocked by force lightning so mace could be stronger than yoda, but not wiser.
People always comparing mace and yoda but everyone misses one part mace windu is a sith nightmare. Because of his lightsaber technique he can best any sith because he re directs their own hate at them. Yoda did not have this feet and while he may have been strong in the force he still was a jedi and that meant keeping constant control of his emotions. I really hope someday we can see Mace in live action again. People had whole fan theories on Maxe being Snoke, so people are obviously open to have him return. I believe Jackson has also expressed interest in playing the character again. Bringing him back from the dead wouldn't be the craziest thing to happen in Star Wars. Maul was sliced in half and fell down a deep shaft, but was kept alive purely by his hatred and connection to the dark side. I believe with Mace being a partially dark sided user, he could use bolster his connection with the dark side to keep him alive and continue on as a dark Jedi, hunting down elite members of the Empire and maybe even Palpatine, as well as Vader himself, knowing that he is most likely Anakin.
Jackson only agreed to do the movies IF they left an avenue for his character to return at a later date. So really Mace isn't dead until it's officially announced that a deal has been turned down by, or will not be offered to Jackson.
one of my favorite quotes from battlefront 2 is anakin saying “lucky master windu wouldn’t be as gentle” it shows he has alot of respect for him until well we all know what happened 💀
its weird but mace didnt lose against the emperor, as his sword style was the Achilles heel of the dark side and had backed papatine into a corner, if not for Anakin's interference - mace would have killed the emperor. the interference for some odd reason wasnt even mentioned in the video and have no idea why, especially considering that this final sin was what completed the transformation from Anakin, loyal jedi knight, to Darth Vader, Sith Lord.
@@hikarihitomi7706 well, using logic, you are making a bigger assumption then him. We don’t know every detail of why he lost, but we know he did. We also have George Lucas himself saying he lost. There’s more evidence for mace being strong enough to beat him in this circumstance fair and square.
@@kleatise52 You're missing my point though. Palpatine strategized so well as to prepare the entire war and put pieces and strategies into play decades ahead of time and spent years grooming Anakin to become his apprentice. It is very reasonable to assume that he could have not only known the jedi were coming to get him, but been better prepared even if caught off-guard by this. It was also precisely the kind of scenario required to break Anakin loose from jedi. If not for that encounter pushing Anakin away from the jedi, some other similar encounter would be needed, therefore, whether Mace could legitimately beat Palpatine in a straight fight is potentially irrelevant. It is entirely possible Palpatine allowed the incident to occur because he needed Anakin to have the conflict of choosing between the jedi or the chance to save his wife (and by extension choosing Palpatine). If that's the case, Palpatine would consider losing to Mace an even better outcome than if he could win against Mace.

yoda was not wrong or arrogant . on the contrary at the time he knew he is the only one left strong enough to take on the emperor 1v1 and hope for victory . he also felt personally responsible since he was the leader of the jedi order . sidious did not want to fight yoda 1v1 , he even tries to escape but yoda blocks the exit in the movie . at that moment sidious is the one who could lose everything while yoda already lost everything (the point when man is the most dangerous) . they were equal (yoda slightly better duelist , palpatine slightly more powerful with the force) , and if i were in yodas shoes even if the chances are like 35/65 to win i would take it as well : thats not arrogance that is the only man who can make a difference making the last stand in attempt to turn things around . palpatine knew this as well - thats why he tries to escape - he is the master manipulator and he is not willing to gamble if odds are not heavilly in his favour he is not willing to take 35-45/65-55 chance of him loosing/winning even if he is a slight favourite overall unless absolutely forced to do so as yoda forced him into that duel . in this video TSW makes it sound like yoda was delusional to think he can win , but he was not he had a real shot at taking sidious down and he took it , nothing wrong with that .
I agree. I don't think he was arrogant. I believe he knew this was the last time he would get this close to a 1-on-1 and was hopeful that he would provide a good hit to the sith and maintain the balance. I don't believe palpatine would waste a chase. I believe that palpatine knowing that yoda was done turned his attention to blame windu to mark him as a target. This would be why brining he has a good chance of being brought back.
Yoda was the only one who could go toe to toe with Sidious and actually have a good chance of winning. Sidious feigned some weakness towards Windu attempting to draw out Anakin
I totally agree that Yoda wasn’t being arrogant at all. But the more I think about it, the more I feel as though there was a good that Yoda could’ve only won the fight but not the mission had he killed Palpating. For all we know, Yoda could’ve got arrested for murder, had he killed the Emperor. And the film made it clear that Anakin was already corrupted by the dark side, all Obi-wan could really do was either kill or incapacitate him at the time.
This was a nice theory, but Yoda was also ashamed at the fact Mace warned him of the threat Anakin posed in Episode 1. Even when Anakin revealed to Mace that Palpatine was a Sith Lord Mace already had suspicion before hand, & let Anakin know to keep his distance. Mace knew & probably felt Anakins draw to the dark side. However he had no evidence to prove this, so he was powerless to present this to the counsel. Yoda basically was shamed becuz he realized he held on to the title of Grand Master for too long out of Pride & Hubris. Mace's experience, skill, wisdom, cunning, & strength showed he was ready to lead. Yoda was Ashamed because he destroyed the REPUBLIC, the JEDI, & allowed the SITH to reclaim power after so many warnings from Mace about the position the JEDI had. Mace was what the Jedi needed to see them in the future. It was also Mace that warned they were not supposed to involve themselves in REPUBLIC POLITICS, or a WAR WITH SEPARATIST. But Yoda refused to see Mace's doubt was not jealousy of Anakin, or resentment for his former rival Quigon Jin, but caution to the whole MYTH of a warrior that would defeat the Sith. In the end it was neither Luke nor Darth, but Palpatine & Ren that were the true figures of the Mythos.
Soon after Palpatine killed Mace Windu, Yoda was "on the run", just like Obi-Wan, and dozens of other Jedi were. There was no time for any of the fugitive Jedi to look for Mace Windu's body on Coruscant. What likely happened, is that Master Windu's corpse was found on a sidewalk, and he was later buried in a potter's field.
True victory is not achieved in the absence of fear, but in the mastery of it. It's one thing to be confident and hopeful, it's another to heed the signs and count the cost when taking the worst into account, rather than dismissing it. Something that is still very prevalent in many governing societies and decision making bodies today.
Windu was a powerful warrior, and extremely powerful in the force, but no where near as powerful as Yoda. Yoda was definitely much more powerful in using the force, and just as good, if not slightly better at dueling. In an all out battle between the two, Yoda would always come out the winner. When Mace fought Palpitine, he had to block his force lightning (the most powerful Sith weapon) with his light saber. Yoda just straight up caught it like they were playing pitch and catch. And you know if Palpitine wanted to, he could have straight up forced pushed Mace out the window. The “weak” act was to get Anikan to strike down Mace and complete his turn to the dark side. Yoda definitely could have beaten Palpitine if there was more time to draw out the fight, but Yoda had no backup and knew he would soon be fighting both Palpitine and members of the Clone troopers. The only chance there was for the future was to leave and go into hiding and hope to defeat the Empire later.
if that's the case, then why did Mace Windu have Palpetine on the ropes, about to die, only to be stopped by Anakin, but Yoda could not get that far with Palpetine, in spite of Palpetine having no help whatsoever?
I believe Mace was better at dueling than Yoda. It why Mace actually beat Palpatine at their duel. That's why Mace had to block lightning with his Saber. Yoda in the other hand was way stronger with the force. That's why he was able to block force lightning with his hands but struggled in his duel with Palpatine.
@Karl W Schipul watch it again Yoda had him defeated until an explosion seperated them...ot gave Yoda tone to realize through the Firce how bad things actually were....
@@karlwschipul5079Yoda literally defeated sidious in lightsaber fight even though it was such a critical place for he's swordplay. If it was an open area like the chancellor office, sidious defeat is already decided that's why he gives much though on how to fight Yoda than when he fought mace.
There is no argument, Mace was second to Yoda in terms of power and lightsaber combat and he said so himself when Palpatine questioned Yoda's prowess compared to Mace's.
It's hard to find the body of someone who fell from above level 5000 all the way down to level -545. Plus, he was hitting everything all the way down to the subterranean area. Robot taxis, buses, Lyfts, Ubers, millennials on hover skooters, heavy rush hour, jet-packers, Mandolorians, Rodarians, Numoidians, droid, garbage skows, air scrubbers, floating panhandlers, etc. Mace was also subjected to 1.21 gigawatts x 2 (because of Palpy having two hands 🙌) so he was very, very, very well done. We here on earth call that Char-broiled with extra heaping of smoke flavor. Likely all you would find is a pretty banged up hunk of what used to be a lightsaber and maybe a hand in relatively good shape on the carpeted floor of the Supreme Chancellor's office. You know, I wonder about What-If Anakin just grabbed that hand ✋️ because it was the right hand, and also grabbed that cool-ass purple lightsaber. A lil' modding by a ripper doc and presto you have either have a new but old hand or you could go the General Grievous route and mod a robot arm with Windu's hand and his lightsaber, that would be so effing wizard!!!🤘🤘🤘
@@Matt-pn1ce Interesting details in regards to the lightsaber, ok Mace Windu's body was discovered in Star Wars Legends but what did the Empire do with his body like if The Empire discovered Mace Windu's body still alive but badly injured, what did Palpatine and The Empire do with Mace then, did they torture him for information 🤔
@@Walker_Dead_Phoenix.2016 I doubt that Mace's body was found alive , he either was so badly mangled up and dead from palpatine's lightning or the impact off the fall neither of which are good . However mace is a legendary jedi council member and one of the top jedi of all time , it's unlikely but possible if he did survive the empire would never be able to defeat him only vader or palpatine would have the means , in my opinion mace is alive but so beaten down and depressed he went further down to the coruscant underworld and found a community called the " lost " these people was the remains of the Republic such as senators palpatine hated and jedi survivor's, people like Dexter Jettster who went there in legends. Mace likely lived a little longer helping in a way to atone for his failures , he'd be badly damaged have a robotic arm like anakin and dispose of his unique lighsaber hence the duros finding it .
@@Matt-pn1ce Yeah I agree. In my honest opinion Mace Windu is secretly still alive in Star Wars Legends but I think its sucks that we will never know now, we will never know if Mace Windu is alive or dead in Legends or not, let's hope for a Star Wars Canon return of Mace Windu 🤞
That’s the thing tho, yoda COULD have beaten palpatine, he wasn’t just being arrogant. I’m not saying he WOULD have beaten palpatine, just that he definitely COULD have. I completely believe yoda WOULD have, if he bothered to keep fighting, but that’s really beside the point, it’s just that he definitely had the potential to, so I wouldn’t really call it arrogance. Especially when he probably felt he didn’t have a choice, even if he didn’t truly believe he could win, he still had to TRY. Also, i guess it could b pretty easy to explain away yodas “realization” that Windu died, when it’s finally shown in a show or book or something, that he DID survive in-canon, according to Lucas. I guess Lucas didn’t declare it until awhile after the novelization, so at that point he WAS dead.
@@christopherfish6564 Yes! Also Palps had the home field advantage. He was in his element surrounded by his own men, in an environment that lends itself to the dark side (congress lol) and yet still yoda overpowers his force lightning. in a straight fight in another setting, Yoda was definitely capable of matching his strength.
I love 99% of all Star Wars content. Amongst the 1% I don't like are the labels, "The most powerful" and "One of the most powerful". Whether it's describing Jedi, Sith, Witch, or any other special-abilities character. Kanan Jarrus, had he chosen to save himself instead of his crew and love, could have, with relative ease. Mace is always serious and has his wits about him all of the time. Even if he were shocked by Anakin's treachery, which there's no way that's possible, I believe that it is totally plausible that he survives that fall and, realizing what he's up against, shuts down the Force after landing safely. Feeling a Force signature go out would still have been confirmation in Yoda's mind. Mace is a tactician and very meticulous. He, like Yoda, would have known to lay low for a very long time in the bowels of Coruscant. He wouldn't have access to the technology right away that Luke had to replace his hand so quickly. So, I could definitely see him gathering Intel, because that's what good, meticulous Jedi do, and playing a role like Fulcrum. Behind the scenes until he's comfortable enough to reveal himself. He would have relied on his swordsmanship to defend himself, with an actual blade, so as not to draw attention with a lightsaber. He would've acclimated to not using the Force, wouldn't have felt Yoda die, and would've been an excellent behind the scenes guy for the resistance. "One of the, if not THE, most powerful Jedi in the Order"... prove it.
Pretty sure Anakin saying what have I done, was Anakin knowing that mace is dead. If mace survived Anakin would not have been upset about what happened since mace would still be alive and Anakin could still get what Anakin wants from Palpatine.
@@darrenjackson4804haha prequels never showed that jedi can fall from skyscraper heights. What the freak were you watching? They can handle jumping off a 2 to 3 story height just fine. But that's about it, they don't jump up super high areas without concentration for it onto to hard floor.
I think it's important to note that Yoda deciding to engage Sidious was something he knew that he was going to have to give his all, and possibly even life for. Obi-Wan begs his Master to let him fight the new Emperor as opposed to a corrupted Anakin/Vader, but Yoda retorts: "To fight this Lord Sidious, strong enough, you are not." He never even really says he himself is going to emerge victorious. All he really says is, "Destroy the Sith, we must." In fact, the last retort he has for Palpatine is pretty telling: "Faith in your new apprentice; misplaced, may be. As is your faith in the Dark Side of the Force." Yoda was proclaiming what he believed would be his final defiance to the Dark Side and the Sith, as he sensed how powerful Darth Sidious was, knowing he very well might not survive this engagement. This was a last-ditch, but not in vain attempt to destroy the Sith once and for all.
Windu was one of the most arrogant Jedi who really embodied how out of touch the order had become up until Order 66. His constant hostilities towards Anakin over the years made it far easier for Palpatine to manipulate him.
That hostility was justified. Anakin was an emotional wreck that slaughtered women and children even when he was just a padawan. Actually, all of the Jedi were right to not trust Anakin.
@@HFlame7 Yoda sensed how unstable & dangerous Anakin could be including Windu. Windu still stated that if Anakin revealed to him the secret Sith he would have won Windu's trust. Windu told Anakin not to attend their apprehension of Darth Sidious and for good reason, look what happened.
This analysis makes it seem as if Yoda was overmatched when he had that duel in the senate (hubris?), and it was then he realized the Jedi were f***ed. It was the location and luck that led to Yoda having to leave the scene after that fight ended. Sidious used his best weapon vs. Yoda and Yoda literally absorbed it into his hands. You could say it was at that moment that Sidious was the one who might have thought he was f***ed. We all know what happened after that moment, and had they dueled again, say, outside of the senate building, don't tell me Yoda doesn't win.
I would say Yoda loses the long game. The unlimited power of the dark side wouldn't stop, as we saw with palpatines volley, and the effort it took Yoda to repel. He also sustained some injury after his fall, limping away. This at the very least would affect him if they dueled 20 minutes later outside.
Bring him back in a Vader film, in which Vader is hunting down all of the remaining jedi, in the 2nd half of the film Vader sends 3 inquisitors to a quiet planet in which their have been reports of a Jedi lurking, the inquisitors are never heard from again. Now Vader himself must go and investigate and when he eventually comes face to face with a hooded figure on the outskirts of this planet, we the audience see the man with his back turned to us and Vaders concerned expression gazing back to him, the hooded figure extends his arm slightly and ignites a purple lightsaber, (no spoilers in the trailer would be epic) after some dialogue then ensues one of the great lightsaber duels which obviously has to end with a Vader victory and Mace is finally dead.
I think because mace survived by turning to the darkside. Why would yoda look for him then. My idea for a cool way to bring mace back would be for him too ha e been hiding in the lower levels for years having turned to the darkside and used his hatred for palpatine and anakin to survive. Vader is forced to put on a more advanced suit to fight and defeat mace.
I think Mace being alive and returning in one of the most recent shows would be a better outcome. Just him dying off seems so little for such a promising future grandmaster.
Mace is alive. We saw Luke Skywalker survive a similar fall with similar injuries as a padawan. Since the sith were able to hide from the Jedi, Windu likely vanished in the force to protect himself. What puzzles me is why Disney and Jacksons agent haven’t reached an agreement yet.
I believe he must have survived the fall. His voice was heard in rise of Skywalker... he didn't have that connection/ability before the fall so he had to learn it after.
Yoda mastered all 7 forms of lightsaber combat and so did sideous but mace only mastered form 7. Yoda prefers form 4 sideous likes form 7 Mace legit beat palpatine only because he used vapaad, for sideous thats like fighting his own reflection. If yoda knew the circumstances of maces death i think he would have had a little more confidence in beating palpatine. If sideous struck mace first much woulda been different.
Mace was greatest Jedi of the Order. He legit beat Palpatine not only because of Vapaad but because of his mastery of Form 7 and his dueling capability.
What disturbs me most about the entire subtext Star Wars is that George is clearly saying “evil is more powerful than good/ the dark is more powerful than the light”. And this has been repeatedly shown in the films and novels. And the games.
Sidious won against Yoda, because Sidious had the high ground. I believe this was done that way on purpose to align of a simple strategy that serves as an advantage in a battle.
@@spartanwarrior1 Yoda took damage from the fall. If no clones show up, and the duel continues, Yoda doesn't win. No way. Unlimited power, plus high ground, plus Yoda injury.
There are a few issues with your video I am afraid: 1. Jedi ranks are not military, but rather states after facts. One becomes a Padawan by training under a master, a Jedi by choosing the light, a Jedi Master by not just using the force but putting your life in its guidance, and a grandmaster by becoming the embodiment of the Jedi principles and their greatest teacher. 2. The path of Windu as the "Blade of the Jedi" is one most Jedi won't tread because, being a tool of death and destruction, it means walking the thin line between the Dark and Light. It's why his blade holds red in it's spectrum, and why he is a very stern conflicted character. The books reveal that he was affected, and tempted, by the dark side, both trough his roots of being born on a planet saturated with dark side energy and history, but also the loss of a Padawan very close to him. 3. Neither power nor brute force are part of the Jedi way and, unlike with Sith, therefore are of low importance. The Jedi don't even "use" the force, rather they are part of it and allow themselves to be used. The values most important to the Jedi are the connection to the force, and the wisdom to understand and heed its call. That's why there are far more intellectuals than fighters within the Jedi Order. 4. Yoda is very powerful with the force, and one of the most skilled masters, but he never was a particularly strong or capable light saber user. If I recall correctly, he even focused on a very conservative form. That's one of the reasons his blade played a rather secondary role in his duel against Darth Sidious, and probably also why he went there even knowing that Windu died - a Jedi fights not through offensive power but other forms of strength. 5. The Jedi Order was long since defeated by Darth Sidious during the war on Geonosis, which killed tens of thousand Jedi including the majority of the next generations, and officially started the so called Clone wars. The years following that, when Sidious and Tyranus did their best to maintain a never ending war between two supposedly opposing sides, was nothing but a Sith death machine, slowly assassinating the remaining opposition, eroding the image and standing of its defenders while forcing all parties into dependence of one of those sides, effectively putting them under control of the Sith. When Yoda said: "Always two there are. A master, and an apprentice." he was right as far as Darth Maul was concerned, "The rule of Two" however was invented by Darth Bane who noticed that Sith were too bad at sharing skills and knowledge to gain any actual advantage over the Jedi by raising their fighters in an academy alike the Jedi. It was him who effectively ended the last war against the Sith by tricking their last masters into using a "Mind bomb", so that the Sith could be reborn in a more condensed more powerful form. Essentially, the Sith stuck to the shadows in order to gain the skills and strength required to face the Jedi yet again - two, against an entire order, and they won. So if we are talking about powerful force users, those titled "Darth" and not "Master" sit at the very top by default. Did you know that the modern lightsaber is a reinvention of Sith technology, using cyber crystals rather than dark / red crystal to align them with the Jedi nature ? They are a reinvention because the original lightsaber was invented by a Jedia, an ancient group of force sensitive people, the forefathers of the Jedi. They were rare and passed along as a honorary weapon for light side users, and it apparently required the Sith to mature them before they became commonplace.
Mace Windu didnt lose to Palpatine though he had won the fight, i mean you could argue that Palpatine won via corrupting Anakin into attacking Windu but he still lost the duel. I think we'd all feel better if they just mentioned finding his body or something in a future show, perhaps Bad Batch S2, this not knowing for sure even though it highly likely he is dead is annoying and hopefully will be addressed.
If palpatine wanted to kill windu without using/turning anakin, palps would have turned windu into fried chicken in the first 3 seconds of the encounter; probably going for him first
@@Cantdecide0216 goerge did, but new canon it's a bit different. It's a 4v1, it's not a fair start. It took palpatine plenty of effort to execute 3 KILLS, which was 10 saber strikes plus forward roll. Look at dookj vs nightsisters, perfect example of dominating a fight, tiring, and getting disarmed eventually. Disarms aren't usually enough to win against a sith lord, though
Rest In Peace Mace Windu. Wait, we are going to see Mace in the next season of Mandalorian. Then this video will be invalid. I can only hope he's alive.
Great video, as always, but you're being really presumptuous in this one. There's no proof that Mace Windu is dead. However, there is proof that he is skilled enough to survive a fall from a great height. Also, I think you're hubris with hope, Yoda knew between him and Obiwan, he was the only that stood a chance against the future emperor. Don't get me wrong, the Jedi were arrogant and over confident in their ability to defeat the coming darkness, but I dont see Yoda's confronting the emperor as an example of that. Nevertheless, great video.
It is stated in the movie script that he fell out of the window to his death, if he wasnt already dead by the force lightning. Even though I would love Mace Windu to return, he is dead.
It’s so annoying to me that of all the characters Disney has retconned back to life, Mace isn’t one of them. He could EASILY be alive still. Far more easily than boba
Please don’t bring back Windu. Then I would expect no one in Star Wars to die because they would all just come back to life. They only one I expect to come back to life is Luke.
I don't think that Yoda was arrogant. I think that he believed in the light, he kept believing in the best until the end, so I don't think that it was arrogance
Sweeet! Great point out, for such a high reputation in the order, you'd think they'd at least think about looking for his body; but with the empire taken over, guess would be pretty difficult! So Yoda did sense Mace dying?? 🤔🤔 interesting, was this during the events of ROTS?? I wish they'd hurry up & give us the closure we all need 😂 1st view, like & comment 😎 MTFBWY
Yes and I never believed Mace died. He got his hand cut off and flew out a window and disappeared. We have seen countless Jedi fall great distances without harm. So I dont think that is the case.
@@ChadHuey79 maul surviving is plot armor at its best. Especially when Disney realized all the characters they create are trash and everyone hated rebels because they canaceled clone wars for it. So they brought ahsoka and maul back to make fans happy. Classic Disney damage control
Yeah they took their chance before the Emperor became untouchable and he had a chance to spread the lies about the Jedi

Maul is a a Sith-Lord who learned to use the dark side in order to cling onto his live and therefor survive beeing cut in half. He said to Sidious that he used his training to survive, right before he and Savage fought him.
When Maul lost his legs no vital organs were damaged.

I absolutely love this theory

@@theoverthinkingalien224 he would demolish Anakin at this point. Mace is literally stronger against sith who rely on anger.

I love your comment! Anakin was a whiny bitch!

Yoda being a Master though finally saw through the darkness.
Strike 1 - against the Emperor
Strike 2 - against the Emperor. The twins Leia & Luke are sensed by Sidious 22
years after their birth. Brilliant move by Yoda & Obi-Wan
Strike 3 - Sidious who wanted the Sith to rule for 3,000 years only got a paltry

unfortunately, he was on the second Death Star.
That's 3 strikes and Out !
His apprentice of 23 years, through his son, trained by Yoda finally saw the Light.
This Light was cultivated and nurtured by Yoda. A small candle had become
Darth Vader now definitely Anakin saw how the love of his son brought him back from a 23 year Hell.

Blah blah blah.
He didn't even have the edge, I don't know why there channels push this myth
They were pretty even, Palps just got a better grip and didn't fall. Yoda knew about the powah of the high ground.

It is entirely possible Palpatine allowed the incident to occur because he needed Anakin to have the conflict of choosing between the jedi or the chance to save his wife (and by extension choosing Palpatine). yoda was not wrong or arrogant . on the contrary at the time he knew he is the only one left strong enough to take on the emperor 1v1 and hope for victory .
he also felt personally responsible since he was the leader of the jedi order . sidious did not want to fight yoda 1v1 , he even tries to escape but yoda blocks the exit in the movie .
at that moment sidious is the one who could lose everything while yoda already lost everything (the point when man is the most dangerous) .

and if i were in yodas shoes even if the chances are like 35/65 to win i would take it as well :
thats not arrogance that is the only man who can make a difference making the last stand in attempt to turn things around .
palpatine knew this as well - thats why he tries to escape - he is the master manipulator and he is not willing to gamble if odds are not heavilly in his favour
he is not willing to take 35-45/65-55 chance of him loosing/winning even if he is a slight favourite overall
unless absolutely forced to do so as yoda forced him into that duel .
in this video TSW makes it sound like yoda was delusional to think he can win , but he was not
he had a real shot at taking sidious down and he took it , nothing wrong with that .

You forget, Yoda was against training Anakin, but the council overrode him. Gawd, you Windu worshippers are really tedious.
Yeah but palpatine got lazy after he took over and over confident ......and palpatine underestimated the force and the twins (Luke and Leia)
Just how Anakin, at the end of ROTS, is gone, Mace as a person was probably gone. I think someone new was born at the start of the Jedi Purge.
Samuel Jackson got it in writing from lucas that mace windu survived it was written on a napkin or something like that
So your thought is wrong
@@cislife7140 😴
True victory is not achieved in the absence of fear, but in the mastery of it. It's one thing to be confident and hopeful, it's another to heed the signs and count the cost when taking the worst into account, rather than dismissing it. Something that is still very prevalent in many governing societies and decision making bodies today.
Samuel L Jackson said that his lightsaber had BMF engraved on it. You can guess what it stands for.

From his wallet in Pulp Fiction which had the same quote BMF on it.
Black man fun?
Mace Windu would not die from just a fall, his will to live was much stronger than his disappointment in Anakin.
He was first in line, not second. Yoda wasnt in line he was at the counter
“The death of Windu marked the beginning of the great terrible Jedi purge”
Agen Kolar: Am I a joke to you?
Yoda did overpower Palps he just got unlucky and fell further
@@christopherfish6564 Yes! Also Palps had the home field advantage. He was in his element surrounded by his own men, in an environment that lends itself to the dark side (congress lol) and yet still yoda overpowers his force lightning. in a straight fight in another setting, Yoda was definitely capable of matching his strength.
george confirmed mace is alive
"One of the, if not THE, most powerful Jedi in the Order"... prove it.
What I'm surprised is "why didn't Palpatine or Anakin sense the death of Mace Windu through the Force"?
Pretty sure Anakin saying what have I done, was Anakin knowing that mace is dead. If mace survived Anakin would not have been upset about what happened since mace would still be alive and Anakin could still get what Anakin wants from Palpatine.

Weird how palpatine and Windu "died" in the same manner A little shock and fall😂 if the old man can survive, Windu most definitely survived
He wasn't second in line, he was first in line. Yoda wasn't in line.
That thumbnail picture of Mace is badass.
Very good and insightful report.
I think Mace being alive and returning in one of the most recent shows would be a better outcome. Just him dying off seems so little for such a promising future grandmaster.
Sadly I don't think that can happen fore luke was/is really old.....
I agree
If he had survived, they wouldn’t need to look for him. Had he not survived, they’d send a coroner.
Yoda mastered all 7 forms of lightsaber combat and so did sideous but mace only mastered form 7. Yoda prefers form 4 sideous likes form 7
Mace legit beat palpatine only because he used vapaad, for sideous thats like fighting his own reflection.

It was a draw. If it wasn’t for the clone troopers, sidous wouldn’t have stood tall
@@spartanwarrior1 Yoda took damage from the fall. If no clones show up, and the duel continues, Yoda doesn't win. No way. Unlimited power, plus high ground, plus Yoda injury.
There are a few issues with your video I am afraid:
