considering Plagueis considered himself and Sidious as the culmination of the Rule of Two and Sidious killed him, I'm sure Sidious thought of himself as quite literally ALL the Sith because he WAS the culmination of the Sith. He only ever viewed his "apprentices" as executioners
“One to embody the power, the other to crave it.” The master is not supposed to just relinquish his position, authority, and power, the apprentice must take it. This is especially the case with Palpatine, he was never just going to give his position away and by not training Vader, it remained as such. However, Palpatine did give him instruction at times “bury yourself in the dark side, overcome your past”, and by Vader craving the power, he was never going to be successful in taking it, because he could not entirely overcome his former life as Anakin, there was always some sort of conflict.
It's more likely that every sith lord simply makes things as difficult as possible. The rule of two is about being overthorwn. The master must be overthrown. So of course the master isn't going to make it easy. And will try to prevent that as best they can while keeping their dog on a short leash. Vader knows he's a dog. It's the game they play. They both know it. Only when Luke thought of Vader did Vader have a reason to change his goals. Before that point Vader simpy didn't have a reason to care. Or at least no one pushed him enough and got under his skin like Luke did. The line "Then my father is truely dead" is what got Vader thinking. How he fled from the past. How it makes him a coward. So Luke taught Vader to be braver in a sense. Just with that one line. Causing Vader to shift his goals towards protecting Luke. It's the one thing the emperor didn't teach him. The most important lesson of all. To always face and confront. No matter how painful it might be. Sidious just wanted to make sure Vader worked for it. Whatever the end he's probably laughing about it. Because that's a lesson he already knows. He shows this because he's always making the best of the situation he's in. With a smile and a laugh. A part of him was likely proud of Vader as he fell. Knowing he'd been bested at last.
‘’Vader can’t survive without his breathing apparatus for more than seconds’’ that’s not true. In the show Kenobi he turns off his breathing to suprise Obi Wan and that was atleast 3 min. In one of the comics Vader is haunted by tarkin where he turns off his breathing FOR DAYS, Vader is weaker without his apparatus sure, but with the dark side he is able to live without it for a while.
Palpatine abandoned the rule of two long before Anakin came into the picture. He made Maul his apprentice and made him a full blown sith and gave him the full title of Darth despite still being apprenticed to Plagueis himself at the time.
@@MethosFilms In canon there's really nothing on plagues yet. So they will probably wrote it in that sidius killed him before episode 1. We also have that 10 year gap with dooku as an apprentice to sidious
I notice some contradictions in videos. In this video it’s said Palpatine keeps Vader’s suit uncomfortable and bad but in the one about why Vader uses a bacta tank it’s said Vader himself refuses upgrades and keeps the suit uncomfortable to be stronger in the dark side
No palptaine I think made the suit uncomfortable on purpose at first as a form of punishment, however he then later on offered an upgrade as he thought vader deserved it ig, and vader himself didn't want it due to it making him stronger
Palpatine didn t create a better suit because Lucas didn t think aboit a better suit. The suit created în original trilogy was already wow for that time, and then the second trilogy was made, new technology was invented în star wars universe so everybody asked themselves why there îs no better suit, and everybody tried to come with an explanation..anakin should be death from the injuries before being taken care of..but wait..there îs the force that nobody really know how it works cause there are no rules and if there are they are constantly bend to make more movies...I m a fan of star wars..not disney era, but original...but stop making absurd theories..
In Darth Plagueis and The Episode 3 novelization. It's pretty clear that even though the Sith understand Sith Sorcery and Alchemy. They can't actually use it to its full ability without an innate ability. As far as we know Darth Zannah was the only Sith with an aptitude for Sorcery. Palpatine's plan in the Episode 3 novel was for Anakin to unravel these unattainable Powers. Using his deep connection to The Force.
I think Vader wasn't ready. He still had too many attachments to anikan Skywalker. Obiwan, padame, his children. .. it seems like he gave Vader the means to learn on his own, artifacts, a castle, but with his failure and his attachment he wanted Vader to redeem himself. Which he never did do his obsession with the Jedi and his past.
Palpatine I feel was on the cusp of gaining or losing him so him turning him into vader was his opportune moment cause I feel like Anakin would have went Grey Jedi wanting to stay a Jedi but not losing his attachments to his wife children and Obi
Sidious must have trained Vader given that in the Dark Lord of the Sith novel Vader learned Sith Language and we see in the comics that Vader has learned Sith Alchemy to make the Grand Inquisitor immortal.
Sidious never understood the fact that to gain something, you must lose something. He did not realize that his duty as the master was to embody the power of the Dark, not attempt to rise above it. That was the apprentice’s duty.
This makes sense. Sidious worked so hard and got very little. Over emotional Vader. With memories of Padme, and revenge. Makes sense. I agree with you. May the Force be with you too. See you in next video :)
New canon has altered some details. In the Vader comic series, he is competing against Tarkin, in which Tarkin and a whole team of soldiers and support staff try to see if they can hunt down Darth Vader on Tarkin's homeworld. Vader gains the upper hand after a deadly series of cat and mouse when he sneaks into their camp at night and unleashes destruction. Tarkin is stunned and realizes Vader was able to infiltrate because he had disabled his suit's respiratory system, silencing his trademark breathing sound. He likely had the system turned off for at least a few minutes, and he was able to sustain himself using a dark side temporary heal ability. I think it's also noted in the comic at one point that Sidious tells him to craft his suit to his specifications, after vader returned from a mission with a beat-up suit.
I feel like a lot of this is the exact opposite; that all of these things- making Vader’s suit cause him constant pain, attempting to replace him, and the like, all *were* part of Palpatine’s training. The point is that it’s all just so twisted and toxic because that’s the way the sith are, and such exercises were designed to keep Vader’s anger and hatred fresh; feeding it, while also keeping him on a proverbial leash. It’s survival of the fittest when it comes to Palpatine, and Vader constantly has to prove that he’s the top dog. Secretly though, I feel like the emperor always knew he would succeed in some way or fashion. It’s all just meant to be a series of tests for him, the lessons of which are embedded in them.
The relationship between Palpatine and Vader just sounds like a bad marriage, it's toxic in everyway and as much as they hate one another they sadly need one another
I think that's interesting that Sidious changed his mind about the rule of two I always felt that their relationship was in flux and never precisely set. From various books I liked the idea that Sidious was furious with Anakin's failure but initially came to view it as the force's will that he be the Sith Master for all eternity and hence it had gifted him the ultimate sith apprentice with ultimate power that he could still wield mastery over no matter how powerful Vader became, because of the fact Sidious could kill Vader easily with force lightning. Sidious was convinced that Vader's limitations were all psychological and he could recover the one of a kind potential if he could confront and get over his disappointments but was dismayed to find Vader could never seem to do this and hence was encouraged to look for potential replacements I think Disney are making a mistake trying to make their relationship clear. A big part of the Star Wars universe is the conflicting views on the exact nature of their relationship. They should leave that alone IMO.
In the new canon comics we see Vader in a bacta tank and he tinkers with his suit. I think it's a matter of motivation, or lack thereof, at least until he finds out Luke exists. (In one of comics, Palpatine seems surprised Vader takes initiative to run his own scheme with Doctor Aphra.)
Palpatine: Today I'll teach you the pecking order. It goes you, the dirt, the worms in the dirt, Emperor Palpatine's stool (his dirt), Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine. *Cue lightsaber training montage
I'm curious about what you can put together for Ahsoka. History and stats from legends and Canon. Also Lightsaber Combat, specialist forms such as Sokan, Trakata, and how certain Lightsaber types were better for specific forms
George Lucas is clearly a student of history. Palpatine seems to be a well put together combination of Hitler, Stalin, Julius Caesar, Caesar Augustus, Caligula and Diocletian. George also seems to have mirrored historical events when writing about Palpatines plans, for example, Order 66 is an obvious copy of the Night of the Long Knives. This is very effective, as it makes the events in an otherwise unrealistic fantasy land seem very plausible. The fans who criticised the prequels obviously knew Fuck all about the world around them to not see that!
Tbh I was waiting for the "until Luke" bit, given the "take your father's place at my side!" line in RotJ. I think that after Anakin, only Luke was a "good enough candidate" in Palpatine's eyes. Which makes him clumsily goading him and then giving up after like...ten minutes...a tad confusing? Thoughts?
Luke found himself in the same situation that Anakin had against Dooku. The difference is Anakin went through with the goading of Palpatine while Luke did not. Luke completely rejected Palpatine’s offer even after Vader had threatened Leia so I think Palpatine was certain at that point that Luke had cemented himself as a Jedi and that there was no hope of having him as an apprentice to succeed him. There was no other option but do away with Luke as he would therefore be nothing but a threat to Palpatine’s empire at that point.
Cool video :) Simply put, Sideous feared Vader overcoming him. He's seen it with all Sith in the past as this is inevitable within the framework of the values that they teach. He may have even for-seen his own demise by Anakin.
I always thought that the real tragedy of Anakin's Injuries in Sideous's mind was that he wasn't fit for essence transfer anymore. I thought the plan was to get Anakin over to the dark side, then steal his body when Sideous deemed it the right moment. Given what we know about Sideous's plans in the new trilogy, this theory makes the most sense. It also partially explains why Vader blocked Luke's attempt to strike down the Emperor in RoTJ, as a) it would allow Sideous to transfer his essence into Luke, but also b) by the rules of the Rule of 2 Luke would technically be the new Sith master over Vader.
Totally disagree my young apprentice. Simply put, I feel Palpatine felt he was better than Bane and the Rule of Two. He wanted "unlimited power," and used Vader as a lap dog while he planned on extending his life/legacy infinitely so he could stay in power. He was known for disposing of his apprentices.
Ironically enough, it was Palpatine’s lust for power and obsessive hold onto said power that empowered yet doomed him, which is apparent by Darth Vader/Anakin.
I did wonder and I agree with you 100%. having read a lot of the Legends material especially dark lord Rising. it explains when you can hear the inner thoughts of both Sidious and Vader that they never trusted each other. I don't see why they don't canonize Galen Merrick. I mean Sam Witwer is here. wouldn't take much to have him show up in Ahsoka or any other of the shows from that time frame. well the clone of him at least
This is in correct as Vader did receive training from Sidious in the form of sith History, teachings, strategies, philosophy, and language of the sith. All of which was meant to make Vader a Sith Lord and at the same time he kept Vader under his control by not teaching Vader everything that he new.
The training was the missions that Vader was sent on like killing the younglings or hunting Jedi. Vader already had Master level force combat training from his Jedi training and the Clone Wars. What young Vader needed was more experience using the dark side and help permanently staying on the dark side emotionally
Excellent video bro! Your explanation of the relationship between Sideous and Vader is on point! And I think you're 100% right too, just wish Vader would have went ahead and upgraded his suit! He would have definitely defeated sidious in my opinion.👊✌️
I know Palpatine was furious overall about the maiming of Anakin, but when he finds his burnt quadriplegic body on the shores of the lava on Mustafar, his body language seems to show concern (at least briefly) when he kneels and reaches down to him.
I thought he also gave him a little ‘Force heal’ with that touch also. In all Star Wars lore, that couple of seconds was the only time I’ve seen Palpatine show a layer of him underneath it all
I think that in part is why Anakin as Vader was not as powerful nor as deadly as he could have been, because of that emotional instability that he had had from a very young age and never quite got over.

“One to embody the power, the other to crave it.”
The master is not supposed to just relinquish his position, authority, and power, the apprentice must take it.
You answered so many questions I've had...THANKS
Just the idea of Vader learning sith sorcery is an interesting idea and reminds me of part 2 of your what if qui-gon train anakin
So basically.. Palpatine didn't train Vader.. because he knew better
Right, I don't get how that wasn't caught?
Palpatine abandoned the rule of two long before Anakin came into the picture. He made Maul his apprentice and made him a full blown sith and gave him the full title of Darth despite still being apprenticed to Plagueis himself at the time.
I didn't know plagueis was alive during that time. How long was maul with palpatine before episode 1?
@@MethosFilms from birth basically, well at least in legends. Maul’s mother gave him to Palpatine as an infant.
@@MethosFilms In canon there's really nothing on plagues yet. So they will probably wrote it in that sidius killed him before episode 1. We also have that 10 year gap with dooku as an apprentice to sidious

You just make the world of Star Wars feel so real and interesting, by far my favorite youtuber!
I notice some contradictions in videos. In this video it’s said Palpatine keeps Vader’s suit uncomfortable and bad but in the one about why Vader uses a bacta tank it’s said Vader himself refuses upgrades and keeps the suit uncomfortable to be stronger in the dark side
It's really poor from the channel. But his main focus is pumping out daily content, doesn't care if he's talking shit.
No palptaine I think made the suit uncomfortable on purpose at first as a form of punishment, however he then later on offered an upgrade as he thought vader deserved it ig, and vader himself didn't want it due to it making him stronger
It can be both though. Vader was an engineer, He could have made himself a better suit
@@vdvio Exactly, The first movie was made in 1977, you don't think that Authors decide to change or add aspects to their story as many years go on.
I’ve watched a lot of your videos without subscribing and was guided by your training and finally subscribed.
Anakin... Padme.*
Interesting...I never thought of the relationship between Vader and Sidious like that. Thanks for the new perspective.
Wow.....just an incredible explanation! I never thought that this saga could get any better.
THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS
ITS UNFAIR
Take a seat
@@weeb1987 Forgive me , Master
Palpatine trained aaaaall the time with Vader in the Sith ways. Another blunder by Stupendous Wave.
I believe he survived more than a few seconds without his breathing apparatus multiple times in cannon.
He could use his force abilities to do the work normally done by the suit.
He didn't really need it, as long as the dark side could sustain him
IT'S UNFAIR
I hate them 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
That makes so much sense! Puts a huge amount into perspective, thanks!
The relationship between Palpatine and Vader just sounds like a bad marriage, it's toxic in everyway and as much as they hate one another they sadly need one another
Excellent video. Thanks for sharing your insight!!
3 ad breaks in a 9:45 video? This is excessive RUclips!!!
I think that's interesting that Sidious changed his mind about the rule of two
I always felt that their relationship was in flux and never precisely set.
Sidious was convinced that Vader's limitations were all psychological and he could recover the one of a kind potential if he could confront and get over his disappointments but was dismayed to find Vader could never seem to do this and hence was encouraged to look for potential replacements
I think Disney are making a mistake trying to make their relationship clear.
Your assessment is on point as usual. Your a great analyst.
wow I literally never thought of this. Good video
So even the Emperor noticed how much of a menace this man was
Great stuff!! Yes so much of this makes sense.Well done

I'm curious about what you can put together for Ahsoka. History and stats from legends and Canon.
Also Lightsaber Combat, specialist forms such as Sokan, Trakata, and how certain Lightsaber types were better for specific forms

Vader was more powerful, and Palpatine knew it.
It was always a mind game, especially with the more vader learned of the dark side

It would have been amusing. Palpatine and Vader starting their days of training with the Rocky theme music playing in the background.
You nailed that man!
Darth Bane’s holicron contains the knowledge that Darth Vader would need to make the transfer.
Being grounded in history doesn't absolve a story from criticism.
@@exaggeratedswaggerofablackteen No, but it certainly lays bare the ignorance of many who criticize.
@@Tyrosine0910 fair enough.
He did give Vader some relics to study. Ultimately though, he believed Vader was incapable of overthrowing him.
So amazing! Thank you
Excellent analysis.
The 5 second rule, Anakin was laying there on Mustafar for way more than 5 seconds, I dont wanna touch that neither
Palpatine on mustafar - “ My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined”

Dude looked like he had a heart attack when he seen the phone free event sign💀
Excellent breakdown 👌
I have always wondered what Vader thought when Sheev said take your father's place by my side to Luke. At the battle of Endor inside DS2.
Cool video :) Simply put, Sideous feared Vader overcoming him. He's seen it with all Sith in the past as this is inevitable within the framework of the values that they teach. He may have even for-seen his own demise by Anakin.
Clonetrooper: Chancellor Palpatine, Lord Vader receive major burns and crippled.
Palpatine: I guess everything isn't going according to plan.
Considering Palpatine poisoned his Master vs proving his superiority via direct combat, I question his allegiance to the Ro2 even in the beginning.
Totally disagree my young apprentice. Simply put, I feel Palpatine felt he was better than Bane and the Rule of Two. He wanted "unlimited power," and used Vader as a lap dog while he planned on extending his life/legacy infinitely so he could stay in power. He was known for disposing of his apprentices.
you just be talking my head off bruh
Sidious, seeing Anakin's new burnt toast impression: My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined.
Excellent assessment!
What's the beginning score you used in the background man?
Ironically enough, it was Palpatine’s lust for power and obsessive hold onto said power that empowered yet doomed him, which is apparent by Darth Vader/Anakin.
love it. great vid
This is pretty sad. He spent his whole life as Anakin being afraid of losing everyone and then spent his life as Darth Vader completely alone.
Well done!
hey when are you putting out part 3 of gui gon jinn trained anakin ??
That adds dimensions to the movie. I like it
Sidious wasn't mad he was disappointed.
This is in correct as Vader did receive training from Sidious in the form of sith History, teachings, strategies, philosophy, and language of the sith. All of which was meant to make Vader a Sith Lord and at the same time he kept Vader under his control by not teaching Vader everything that he new.
Emperor palpatine: my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
The training was the missions that Vader was sent on like killing the younglings or hunting Jedi. Vader already had Master level force combat training from his Jedi training and the Clone Wars. What young Vader needed was more experience using the dark side and help permanently staying on the dark side emotionally
Palpatine didn’t want smoke 😂
Cause if he taught him anything, it'd just increase the chances of Vader kicking his wrinkled ass. \m/
My thoughts exactly 😂😂
The Emperor was going to take Darth Bane's recipe for Sith Biscuits to the grave! You hear me! THE GRAVE(S)!
He never trained with Vader just like he never trained with the young Darth Maul. Just leaves them with training droids and gives lessons.
Excellent video bro! Your explanation of the relationship between Sideous and Vader is on point! And I think you're 100% right too, just wish Vader would have went ahead and upgraded his suit! He would have definitely defeated sidious in my opinion.👊✌️
4:40 his dissapointment was immesurable and his day was ruined
Hi stupendous wave. Just had a question. I have screenshots and evidence but when I tried to pay for the shipping charges, cash app immediately informed me to stop and it was a scam. I just wanted to verify if someone was hacking your channel or worst, using your identity?
Palpatine is the ultimate abusive boyfriend
Darth Sidious: you are on the Sith but I do not grant you the rank of Master.
Vader: Not this crap again.
excellent video
You should do a video on how Vader still became as powerful as he was without training from Sidious. I mean recently on the Kenobi show, Vader was still so powerful in the force that he was able to stop a cargo ship mid flight and ground it, tearing it apart. This was 10 years post ROTS, but was did he become that powerful just from his learnings as Anakin and progressed as Vader and the darkside and his own learnings through the years ??
All in all he still became extremely powerful, trained or not. Crazy.
His suit kept him in constant agony. He fed on that pain and rage. He fueled that into powering himself.
@@qb6570 Yeah he got way more powerful from when he was Anakin to when he was Vader. Crazy.
