    Vader had absolutely nothing left. he killed everything that meant to him in the past.
    The emperor was his only link to the world of the living basically.
    He had no true ambition, at least not until he discovered Luke is his son.

    I look at it like being jumped into a gang or being hazed on line for a fraternity. The idea of the the sith is to bond you to the darkside, stripping you of everything else you ever cared about.
    kill friends, family members all so you cement the fact that you can never go back. All Vader has is the sith and Palatines' favor (or his life). Who in the galaxy would accept him?

    • @adriantallent8557
      @adriantallent8557 6 месяцев назад +3

      The usual thing that happens with the Sith though is that they knowingly chose their sacrifice. Anakin was unlike the other Sith we see in that he was manipulated into doing it. Even Kylo Ren deliberately chose to throw away the old trappings of his life once Luke spurning him set him down the path to the dark side. I think there may be something to that, because there is a kind of power in making that choice. Because Anakin was tricked into destroying everything he ever loved, Palpatine had full power over him the entire time. It was Palpatine who rescued him from Mustafar when he was on the brink of death, and it was Palpatine who turned him into Darth Vader. I don't think Anakin ever saw himself as having any choice at all in the matter until Luke came into his life at the height of the Empire.

    One thing that should of been a factor that should of been mentioned, is Vader was actually fearful of Palpatine granted he never showed it, and if he ever had the opportunity he'd jump to strangle Palpatine in a heartbeat, the thing is Vader was entirely aware of his suits limitations and Palpatine's love of force lightning so he couldn't afford to be disloyal without bartering his life in the process.

  • @okamireader5
    @okamireader5 6 месяцев назад +7

    It is all as you said, with the death of Padme, the loss of his children, the perceived betrayal of the Jedi, Anakin had nothing else to live for... other than the Empire and Palpatine.
    In spite of all he had lost, all that he continued to suffer, Vader still got massive benefits as the Enforcer of the emperor's will / apprentice to the dark lord and master of the Sith.
    At last, he had the power as well as the resources and authority to impose his will upon the galaxy, his warped idea of peace, and all the enemies and victims and toadies to vent his misplaced anger and hate upon. Vader got the best of everything, all that he needed and whatever he so desired, but it was the service he enacted in his master's name where Vader felt the closest to being happy becuz he was able to enact whatever actions he deemed necessary for the "greater good" of the galaxy while also going over the heads of petty and stupid imperial officers, killing them if they dared to disrespect or displease him in some way, w/o any of the political or bureaucratic red tape of the Republic Senate, and having the pleasure of continuing to lead armed forces against dissidents and then rebels, as Anakin once led the Clone Troopers of the 501st.
    But another reason Vader stayed loyal to Palpatine in spite of all the abuse and deception he'd suffered under his master's manipulation... was becuz he literally had no one else left in his life. Despite everything, all he'd done and become, Vader still yearned for companionship, having been born to a loving mother in spite of them being slaves, having been freed by a Jedi he deemed a hero and perhaps a father figure, only for Qui-gon to die, mentored and trained by Obi-wan despite being turned against his old jedi master, himself mentoring and watching over a pupil of his own despite Ahsoka leaving the Order after becoming disillusioned by it, and of course having had a strong marriage with the love of his life only for Vader to instantly believe Padme had betrayed him and used the Force to choke her despite the fact she was pregnant with their child(ren) and then being haunted by her death for the rest of his life
    He lost everything and everyone he ever loved, except for the one man who had mentored and guided him, a man he'd respected, regarded as another mentor, but was in fact being groomed to one day become this man's prized pupil... only to wind up damaged goods and realize everything his master had told him was manipulation, and thus Palapatine/Sidious had ruined his life and cost him all that he ever loved and cared about.
    In spite of this, Palpatine was the one person Vader could turn to after all he had lost, the only person who would "accept" him. Altho Vader suffered abuse and disrespect from his master in the years to come, Vader initially held onto misplaced sentiment for his master until the anger and truth finally seeped in and he understood how Palpatine had misled and decieved him practically from the moment they met, and so dedicated himself to consolidating power and one day overthrowing Sidious to take his place as ruler of the galaxy.
    As you said, Vader had nothing else to live for other then the Empire and the Emperor... until he discovered the existence of Luke Skywalker, his son.

    I don't think you did a video on this, but maybe you did, but I'd love a video on when Vader had a vision of what his life could have been if he had not fallen to the Dark Side and stayed in the Temple when Windu went to confront Sidious. On a side note, something I think both Aniken and many in the audience forget, when Mace left to fight Sidious, he directly says to Aniken "if he is the Dark Lord, you will have earned my trust."

    Vader's service to Palpatine was more stick than carrot, and there wasn't anyone who provided the carrot. Dooku was the closest to understand that absolute power isn't about submission; even Maul knew this. Failing to understand this, after Alderaan was destroyed, Palpatine went with more stick if that was possible.
    Vader wasn't a diplomat and had no idea how to shape the galaxy, or to calm it down and win their trust and respect. Loyalty at this level was useless to Palpatine and Vader knew it. Palpatine knew it. The Rebellion grew exponentially from this moment and Palpatine who was once a deft politician as challenged by the Jedi to be, had only fear and more fear. The loyalty to Vader was a huge burden.

    To me, Vader was a man who had lost everything he cares about. His father figure in Qui-Gon, his mother, his friends and found family in the Jedi, and his wife and supposedly unborn children.
    For a guy with attachment issues, he clutched at what might have passed for friendship from Palpatine like a drowning man with a life preserver.
    It wasn’t until Luke reignited his humanity and showed him another path that he rejected the Master he ultimately knew didn’t give a toss about him.

    But if I lived in his Galaxy. Then there would only be the one Vader. Or maybe a short lived clone of Vader. At least I would have a chance. Of evading him.

    I know I have brought this up before, but it would be neat to get a sibling video going the other way; why did the Emperor keep putting up with Vader? So, it would obviously be wrong to say that Darth Vader was weak, incapable, or ineffectual; he was a powerhouse, and could be practically a one man army, but he obviously wasn't the idealized Darth Vader Palpatine had been envisioning for years, as he plotted the downfall of Jedi. It could be convenient to have him, and possibly even amusing to belittle him; this "Chosen One" of the fallen Jedi Order, but the Emperor didn't NEED him. The Inquisitors were kept weak, but that almost proved the point; they could be weak, and still be effective. Legends Palpatine also had Hands, who were certainly no Vader, either, but certainly effective, and often because of their anonymity. There just weren't threats that demanded Vader's levels of power, and ways of doing things, and he could be expensive. Other than to gloat to himself that he even nabbed the Chosen One, and to feed his narcissism, why did he keep Vader? At times, he seemed prepared to create replacements, and even told Vader he was only as secure as he was useful, so why not off him, and still run the Empire fine? Why put up with his failures, and often inability to learn the lesson given, as Vader often refused to change, even when ordered?

      Palpa did try to find others but Vader always ended up killing them, even tho he wasn’t his full potential he was still leagues above anyone else palpatine could find, they were both like 1 in several trillion force users and basically stuck with each other bc of it, you’d think why doesn’t palpatine try to pass on his potential through genetics but I guess according to the sequels he did, just sucks they messed them up so bad, the core idea wasn’t bad but executed so poorly also they had no plan and only came up with the Rey is a palpatine thing for the last movie so there’s not even any continuing or hidden themes that make sense later bc none of it was ever planned and each movie was just made up without much consideration for what comes next or what came before 😊

  • @BlancaPalliser
    @BlancaPalliser 5 месяцев назад

    Yes, Darth Vader, formerly Anakin Skywalker, exhibited a deep and intense loyalty to Emperor Palpatine (Darth Sidious) in the Star Wars saga. This loyalty was driven by several key factors:
    1. **Sense of Debt**: Anakin felt indebted to Palpatine for saving his life after his duel with Obi-Wan Kenobi on Mustafar. Palpatine provided medical care and cybernetic enhancements that sustained Anakin's life but also bound him to the Sith Lord.
    2. **Manipulation and Influence**: Palpatine manipulated Anakin's fears and desires, promising him power and knowledge of the dark side that he believed could save Padmé Amidala from death. This manipulation deepened Anakin's loyalty as he became increasingly dependent on Palpatine for guidance and strength.
    3. **Shared Ideology**: Anakin initially aligned himself with Palpatine's vision of bringing order and stability to the galaxy. He believed in the Sith ideology of using power to impose control, albeit for what he saw as noble reasons such as protecting loved ones and ending conflict.
    4. **Fear and Intimidation**: Over time, Vader's loyalty to Palpatine was reinforced by fear of the Emperor's wrath and the consequences of betrayal. Palpatine's dominance over Vader's life, both physically and psychologically, made him reluctant to challenge or disobey his master.
    This loyalty to Palpatine persisted for many years, defining Vader's role as the Emperor's enforcer and right-hand Sith Lord within the Galactic Empire. It wasn't until the events of "Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi" that Vader's loyalty faced its ultimate test when he chose to save his son, Luke Skywalker, from Palpatine's clutches, leading to his own redemption and the Emperor's defeat.

Not to mention Sidious did kill Windu after he lost the dual in Sidious' office thanks to Anakin then went on to defeat Yoda. At that point Anakin knew he couldn't beat Sidious so it was either join him or die right there. Then Sidious sent him on a mission to kill the separatists so he would have no place to go.
