Yea, vader wen from being the golden child of the sith, to the gum on the bottom of lord palps shoes, all in the blink of an eye. Palpatine could never get over his frustration with anakins loss to obi.
Yes he did , once vader was his lesser, Palpatine hated everything about him. Vader should have fixed his suit, he never did , he kept himself weaker to Palpatines force lightning , he was supposed to be getting reast and finding ways to over throw Palpatine, yet he never did. As powerful as vader was, his self hate and weakness made him useless to Palpatine and the sith, and Palpatine feared dieing and leaving the sith I'm such a broken man's hands.
Vader utilized his power and reach in unison to keep the preferred distance between him and his opponent for ensured control. The Sith use The Force amid saber combat as well, which also tends to work better when one's opponent is several paces away. Should your target gain too much distance from you, a simple Force Pull negates and chips away at their resolve. When one sees and feels the futility in their efforts to obtain any advantage against you, the greatest weapon is then at your full command...their fear.
I think one of the contributing factors to why Vader lost on Mustafar was bcuz of the fact that he still fights like a Jedi and not as a real true Sith despite breaking away form the Jedi Order and being bestowed the title of “Darth” bottom line is despite all his power he wasn’t as trained in the dark side as he had been as a Jedi Knight, Vader was powerful but i think besides his own arrogance as to why he lost was bcuz Kenobi was too familiar with his skills in fighting style and knew Anakin all too well yet was inexperienced as a new Sith Lord and lacked the potential knowledge and wisdom he could have had before until after his injuries
Palpatine, though powerful, was ultimately a coward. Why else would he restrain Anakin and make his suit with design flaws if Palpatine was so certain Darth could not stand against him? Sometimes it seems that cowardice is a very powerful Sith strength.

They still have a level of honor to what they do. I know it seems strange but even dirty thing they di to each other once they are master and apprentice, is set up prior , it is an understanding.

The barrage as said here and in the first and second force unleashed games Palps call Vader Broken and in the second Vader calls the Star Killer clone broken using the same lines.
Darth Sidious was very insightful with how the Sith have truly move beyond the need of the Lightsabers and this should have been the case as well with Vader as he was the most powerful force user in the history of the Galaxy and he would have been unstoppable if he directed his training to just his force abilities.
You talk about vaapad like it's real 😂 dude if you want to have an aggressive form learn to use makashi and Ju-yo together perfect balance between parrying then bringing down the hammer
So then, Why did Sidious choose to fight Maul and Savage with sabers rather than just kill Savage immediately with the Force, and take Maul immediately? Why risk a battle throughout multiple rooms of Mandalore? Why risk being spotted?
He was toying with them. He saw them as a threat to his plans just not in a fight. This is why at the being of thr fight he simply Foce pushes them but never uses force lighting, he wants to have fun.
Yeah, most important for Sith is victory, they are ultimate combat pragmatists, unless rage clouds their judgement. Palpatine sneers like a maniac when fighting, but in truth he's a very calculating fighter, eager to create new opportunities and exploit them for maximum shock and awe to overwhelm his enemies. It seems he tries to teach Vader how to think outside the box, instead of relying on just one method of fighting and then making questionable decisions like jumping on High Ground Kenobi. He also established a clear hierarchy: Vader lives only because he's useful and Palpatine was nice, he could be smoked at any time.
For the record, I don't hate EVERYTHING Disney Canon has done to Star Wars. I like a lot of the small moments, like this interaction with Sidious or the addition of the inhibitor chips in the Clone Troopers. Exactly Palpatine’s point. He fought like a Jedi, against someone who KNEW his moves by heart, plus he let himself get unfocused. He WANTED to out-fight Kenobi. Ego was his downfall.
He could throw lava at Kenobi, jump somewhere else, sail to a safer spot or at worst just call it quits to fight another day. Sometimes discretion is a better part of valor, especially if you are facing a High Ground Kenobi.
The way jedi/sith perceive combat makes me think of the japanese/mongolic way to perceive combat (like in the game Ghost of Tsushima for example) Samurais fight for honor first and then for victory while the Mongols fight to conquer and that’s it, every method of conquering, as long as it is effective, works fine. I’m no historian but that’s how I see it!
I just realized this exploit, Jedi or Sith could just wait somewhere camouflaged for their opponent to walk by then once they're distracted with a conversation. or they don't even need to be distracted but it would help. Any force user could ignite the lightsaber on their hip and then push it into their legs within half of a second, before it could even be reacted to, it would already be over.
The problem with this is several innate and trained defenses all force users have would trigger/warn the target giving them ample time to stop it or otherwise get rid of the lightsaber. And anyone strong enough in the force to overwhelm those defenses quick enough would have much simpler and quicker ways of killing.
To sum it all up, “Vader still fought and thought like a Jedi when it came to dueling” as well as depending solely on his lightsaber instead of the dark side of the force.
