I can totally agree with this one though, I believe Sideous's distaste for Saber-combat is strong throughout ALL of it. It's interesting how the emperor so wants to see Vader take his force-heavy view and philosophy while he keeps the dagger close.
They both had merits and both were correct. Vader still had anakin inside him as per his lightsaber design and didn't rely on the force like Sidious believed a Sith should. Sidious' lightsaber was too small to be effective to Vader with his mechanical hands and built something he was familiar with and he constantly over the 20 years refined the design. He needed something to fight the surviving Jedi with pretty much straight away as he couldn't use force lighting like his master due to his mechanical arms and hands. So he was forced to focus on lightsaber combat (what he was used to as a Jedi) more. They both were right in a way.
Also Vader couldn’t use force lightning because palpatine deliberately made his armour weak to lightning so he could torture Vader with it. And Vader didn’t intend for his lightsaber to look like anakins but it did and it works because anakin made his main lightsaber (the skywalker saber) when he already had a robotic hand so it makes sense Vader would make something similar in thickness/design for his robotic hands plus yeah like you said Vader still had anakin inside him. Vader kept parts of anakins but modified them such as his saber or his saber combat style since he still uses form 5 with a few modifications from form 2 and some other stuff too
To be honest, Anakin always seemed like the type that would focus on functionality rather than fashion, hence him wearing black leather over robes. It just showed Vader retained that mindset on how he would see a functional lightsaber, but more fitting for his robotic hands instead of his Jedi hands.
Also if he trained his whole life with a certain type of hilt, why wouldn't he want a very similar hilt? Like when I was a trim carpenter, I hated all nail guns other than my Hitachi gun because they all felt so different and I couldn't get used to the way the other guns were balanced.
@@jeffshackleford3152 That makes a lot of good sense. Your hands know what they know, and if you can bypass the getting used to part of training why wouldn't you? Especially with Vader, who had to train extensively to get used to his new robotic form as it is.
I wouldn't say hate I would say Palpatine was disappointed because Vader is a crippled Anakin Skywalker..Palpatine felt robbed of having a full potential Anakin/Vader by his side...after Obi Wan fucked up everything.. Obi Wan tells Luke of his jedi orgins and is the root cause for Luke becoming a Jedi and turning Vader to the light killing Palpatine......😂😂 Also Rey originally was supposed to be related to Obi Wans extended family outside the jedi...And well she kills Palpatine again 😂😂Obi Wan is the true chosen one...
@Matt03981 Of course but if Vader never burned he could have been much more than what we see....just saying logically...Nightfall Anakin/Vader without injuries progressing would be far worse then what we got....
sidious never planned to keep anakin as an apprentice, he planned on using his body when his became too old and weak. this is really why sidious punished vader because anakin failing on mustafar ruined his entire plan.
Sidious also has a problem with Vaders lightsaber bc it is so similar to Anakins. It shows that a part of Anakin is never gone. It foreshadows the eventual return of Anakin.
Vader was a military dictator, a fallen knight, a sophisticated bruiser, a brute with a gift for military strategy. He was a mix between Chengis Khan, Alexander the great, Leonidas, and Napoleon, but had the failure of emotional instability. He was the iron fist, who could never afford to appear weak. He took pride in his martial strength, and crushed the weak due to his disdain for weakness. Sidious on the other hand was a master manipulator, a genius politician, a heavenly (or hellish) minister. He was like Machiavelli, or akin to every elderly, experienced, stone cold, snake-like figure manipulating whole nations through lies, manipulation, bribes, threats, and controlled self image (though he could make real life politicians look like clumsy children) since the formation of the first councils in our history. He was beyond strength and weakness, as he's used both as tools to control people and whole galactic factions. He's appeared weak, strong, compassionate, and cruel on purpose whenever it suited him, without experiencing any self doubt. Both the weak and strong had their place under his command regardless of the fact that they've noticed it or not, as he had disdain for waste; and he's controlled them both with similar ease. If Vader was an iron fist, Sidious was a shadowy, dark whisper in every unconscious mind relate to him in any way; planting the seeds of doubt, fear, hate, and yearning that grew into iron chains or invisible leashes. What use is a dueling weapon to someone like that?
it's also worth noting that Sidious wasn't portrayed as being particularly good in a lightsaber duel either, by the end of his fight with Windu, Windu has all but won the duel and it's only Anakin's betrayal that gave Sidious the edge over him. Sidious' actual power comes from his connection the force and the abilities his understanding has granted him, rather than allowing an opponent to get close in a fight where a lightsaber would be useful, he's shooting lightning from his finger tips and turning the entirety of the environment in which the fight is taking place as a weapon.
He was actually one of the best with a lightsaber as far as I know. "Despite being highly trained in the art of combat by my master, I rarely used these weapons. I preferred to call upon the infinite power of the dark side to win my battles. Yet when the time came to reveal my true nature, few could survive the fury of my blades" (Star Wars: The Secrets of the Sith). Although he favored his power in the dark side as his principle form of attack instead of his lightsabers, Sidious attested that only a few individuals were able to survive against his skill with the blade Star Wars: The Secrets of the Sith). He had an extremely aggressive, rage-fueled dueling style and augmented his swordplay by using Force-enhanced speed, which allowed him to kill three experienced Jedi Masters at once within seconds. Kit Fisto, a Jedi Master who specialized in combat, was unprepared for the ferocity of Sidious' attack and consequently cut down by the Sith's lightsaber (Revenge of the Sith). He utilized a violently ferocious yet extremely fluid fighting style during his fight with Maul and Savage Opress, holding off the Sith brothers on equal grounds and ultimately separating them by stunning Maul for a brief time with the Force before toying with and killing Opress (Star Wars: The Clone Wars - "The Lawless"). During a sparring match, Sidious was able to quickly overpower his apprentice Darth Vader and knock Vader's lightsaber out of his hand without much effort ("The Lesson (Darth Vader)" - Star Wars (2020) 25). Sidious was exceptional at everything. But he was the follower of a thousand years Sith philosophy that put great emphasis on being a shadow manipulator instead of facing anything or anyone head on, and also few leaders with very high status would be willing to risk their lives in combat (kinda like sending your king into battle in a chess game). So I guess having to be forced to engage in martial combat would already be a failure in his eyes, as it'd mean that his secret machinations have failed and put his own life in jeopardy. Also, having a personal, martial conflict would always be a great risk to his cult, even if the risk of losing it was very low. Physical combat can be unpredictable after all, and there were mostly only two Sith (sometimes even one when the master hadn't taken an apprentice yet), and if the unthinkable happened, their cult would just end right there and then. @@unfortunately_fortunate2000
It is rather ironic that Vader in a way, rebuild his first lightsaber he had the same day the Clone War started. Its basically the same down to a T! Only difference is that its larger than the first hilt. I often wondered if Vader ever thought to himself: "Oh shit. I basically just rebuild my first lightsaber! But it'll do!" I also find Palpatine and Vader's views on lightsabers very interesting and complex. Both have their points but if I had to choose at the end of the day, I'd kind of would have to be on Palpatine's side on this one. But at the same time, I'd also be prepared for anything and be armed at all times. I like the idea of balancing both approaches. True, you have far more options when it comes to using the force but I also think lightsabers and dueling can be fun and unique.
Anakin and Vaders lightsaber looks almost completely alike but Vader’s lightsaber is more thicker and heavier than Anakin’s i guess it would make sense since Darth Vader twice Anakin’s size in height and weight bc he’s cybernetically enhanced Vader is said to be taller than Anakin and more bigger and bulkier rivaling abt 6’4ft-6’5ft and Anakin at 6ft-6’1ft
@@M_03256nd FYI it was the BEST guess on the Obi Wan Kenobi show and ROTS he didn’t look that tall and i saw his legs while he was being assembled his legs didn’t look that long to me reason why i say that cuz there have been different actors to play the character including Hayden Christensen personally i think Hayden is the BEST but the other actor from the OG trilogy was taller than Hayden and on Rebels and Rogue One he def looked like 6’6-6’8 thats why

I like to view Anakin and Vader as two sides of the same coin. The light being Anakin Skywalker; the Chosen One, Hero of the Republic, and Jedi Master. The Dark being Vader; Dark Lord of the Sith, Jedi Hunter, and Commander and Chief of the Empire.
Beautiful juxtaposition of sidious and vader. Palpatine went to johnny dang while vader custom built his saber so he could overclock it and get the most frames. The two could never respect the other's decision.
Always thought that didnt make sense if you make soething nicer then me I have never looked at that as mocking me more so taking my idea and improving it so sidious making a sick looking fancy saber I don't see how that mocks anyone!
I understand why Vader didn't like Sidiou lightsaber. It's understandable why Vader constructed lightsaber almost similar to Anakin's. He used for over 20 years. Habits. Sidious lightsaber is antic. Ancient and old. Vader's lightsaber is modern, powerful, strong. Like it should. I understand why Sidious likes old things but in this case.. May the Force be with you too.
I wonder if sith lords ever just compare lightsabers in casual conversation. "Hey dude, like the new saber" "Thanks man, I like the double blade thing you got going on" "Oh for real? I appreciate that, I was a little nervous to switch over, you know, i just don't want to be "that guy" who's whole thing is having a double bladed saber" "Oh no man it totally works for you, goes really nicely with your horns"
Can anyone explain to me how a lightsaber cuts through anything in its path...dismembers limbs... but when it comes to bugs on a planet their resilent?
good video but i also feel like we repeated the answer 5 times just to make the video long enough to break 8 minutes be monetized/pushed through the algorithm
I thought you were going to compare Legends with Canon... In Canon, Vader is taught that, in order to obtain his own Lightsaber, he had to steal one from a Jedi and corrupt its kyber crystal, which he eventually did. He started with a saber with a curved hilt that resembled Dooku's a little. Eventually, that saber was destroyed in an assassination attempt on Vader's life, and he would use the crystal to rebuild his Lightsaber as we know it now. As for Palpatine, I think he felt more indifference than outright hate towards Lightsabers. He probably only carried his own not only to mock the Jedi, but also as a fail-safe in case he couldn't solve any problems with the Force alone. As you said, they were just tools. After Order 66, he probably felt that he didn't need them anymore, and stopped using them.
You are correct for the most part but palps did hate lightsabers believing them to be a crutch but a useful one hence why he used one to fight the Jedi masters he also is confirmed to own 3 of them
I never understood why one handed style is bad for lightsabre? Its such elegant and light weapon. One heanded should be perfect. Dont see the reason to ever wield it with two hands.
Sidious: hates Vader’s lightsaber because it accommodates combat and resembles his first Jedi one. Vader: hates Sidious’ lightsaber because it’s more like a trinket than a practical weapon. Sidious to Vader: don’t be too proud of this technological terror you’ve constructed. The ability to defeat a Jedi in combat is insignificant next to the power of the force!
Sidius is just focus pocus man, that uses magic. While Vader is true angel of death, I saw all his fights and they are very cool. Each blow is meant to instantly kill his opponents even Darth Mall lost to Obiwan in 1 hit, but Vader cant stop he is very resilient, has huge will and purpose to purge everyone who is against him. Remember Darth Mall, was aprentice of Sidius. But Vader is truly the most powerfull. Only prosthetics is his only weakness, if he could somehow heal himself, he would be the true emperor...
I feel that there is a complete contradiction regarding Vader's lightsaber. For if the construction of Darth Sidious's lightsaber was to be a mockery of the Jedi as a weapon of rule over peace? Well then Sidious completely missed the point of what Vader was doing. To understand this, we must look at what Anakin was originally. A child born through the Force as a slave, he lived as both a scavenger, and as an innovative mechanic. Upon his liberation he was trained as a Jedi but still held that frustration and hatred of seeing suffering. Both in the life of a slave, the death of his mother and the fear of losing his wife drove him to become the man he is. On Mustafar Vader was scorched and burned, half of him was already gone, forced to become the cyborg he is. To survive he had to adapt to what he knew. That came from the innovative, and tinkering/mechanic that was Anakin. That is why he made the lightsaber, both as a means to adapt to his new existence but also to will the same skill and prowess he had before. Anakin was the Chosen One, while revered and concerned with fear by the Jedi. In the end it was never the lightsaber that became the mockery of the Jedi, but Anakin itself. Vader made Anakin his weapon with all his knowledge and hate as well. To bend Anakin to his will. An irony yet power I believe Palpatine feared, because Anakin became the dragon. The dragon as in the novel in legends mentioned.
I’m willing to bet it’s simply because Sidious is trying to take a shot back at Vader for when he called his lightsaber a piece of jewelry and not a weapon meant for war 😂
I’ve been a fan of Darth Vader since I watched the originals for the first time as a kid and I really did like the look of his lightsaber but that thing is in no way comfortable to hold!!! And is way worse to fight with! I know why and I get why it is the way it is! And it still looks great on my wall!!!
There is one factor that was not touched on.... Anakin grew up a slave and used what he could find and was practical. Vader design shows that he did not value the material world... only what I could do for him... Palpatine grew up in a rich family and as such saw life as showing off your toys and how much better off he was.... the design being elegant and more for look than function. But the most important is that each man knew himself and what he needed as a weapon.
Meanwhile, Ren's Lightsaber: "LMAO, WHY DON'D WE ADD THE BEAM HILT LIKE ON THE EUROPEAN SWORD, FOR LULZ" Inquisitors be like: "I WUNNA SPEEN THE LIGHTSTABER LIKE A STUPID KID WITH A TOY, FOR LULZ" Zero thought put behind those. Zero.
Sidious legend argument is faulty, because Lord Vader couldn't exude the Dark Side of the force as well as Sidious due to the loss of his limbs and his own weaknesses to it with his armor/ mechanical parts. Darth Sidious doesn't have a leg to stand on in that argument.
By Legends the dark side was not hampered when it came to cybernetic limbs and the use of force powers. Only Force Lightning required biological limbs to channel and Vader could still utilize everything else to full potential.
Imagine if both Vader & Sidious never got burned or disfigured and just remained in their normal human form. Anakin/Vader would reach his true potential as an omega level force user (force Lighting & Telekinesis), and Sidious could pridefully confront anyone not having to worry about his physical appearance. Unique plot twist!
no u are the one ho missed the point of all this.... HATE is what both Vader and Sidious need to keed thery power, and with the jadi gone...... i belive this (that the jadi is "gone") is also way there is so much "bad blod" betwine them and why Sidious never realy trained Vader.... they only had/got ether other to fuel there hate and anger!! Well Siths hate everything. It is actually much better (from their point of view) to hate Vader's lightsaber than not. Hate brings more sith power. It is probably compliment also to Vader.

I can totally agree with this one though, I believe Sideous's distaste for Saber-combat is strong throughout ALL of it. It's interesting how the emperor so wants to see Vader take his force-heavy view and philosophy while he keeps the dagger close.
Yeah
Oh please, Vader's Lightsaber has more drip than Palpatines.
Hey Stupendous
That Ulic Qel Droma Bio and power scaling is gonna be great can't wait for it in 2 weeks keep being awesome 🤘
Another phenomenal video 👍
To me Qui-Gon Jinn light saber handle was the best looking Jedi light saber handle
100 percent
I wouldn't say hate I would say Palpatine was disappointed because Vader is a crippled Anakin Skywalker..Palpatine felt robbed of having a full potential Anakin/Vader by his side...after Obi Wan fucked up everything.. Now that I think about it it has always been Obi Wan being the root cause of all Palpatines failures first with Mual then General Grievous then Anakin his prize all crippled or killed by the same damn man lol.
General Kenobi really is a bold one
crippled yet Vader is far stronger then weak anakin
@Matt03981 Of course but if Vader never burned he could have been much more than what we see....just saying logically...Nightfall Anakin/Vader without injuries progressing would be far worse then what we got....
sidious never planned to keep anakin as an apprentice, he planned on using his body when his became too old and weak. this is really why sidious punished vader because anakin failing on mustafar ruined his entire plan.
Palpatine: i hate your lightsaber
Vader: well I hate yours more
You can not escape who you are. Where ever you go there you are.

I think it would be really cool if Darth Vader switched out his red crystal with a lava crystal from Mustarfar.
This is legends... Vader had to quest to defeat a Jedi Master and claim his blade. Then he had to bleed the kyber. Then he eventually made a new hilt.
he said right at the start its legends
I think you meant true canon
You can dream but until Disney releases Lukasfilms to a worthy owner what Disney says goes (even if that is down the toilet).
That’s not legends.
Nice to know that they both hated each other's lightsaber's
Palpy’s was smooth, small, shiny and slippery. He got it knocked out of his hands twice
Vader is 6'8 fully armored without his boots he's 6'6 where did you get 6'4 or 6'5
@@M_03256
Where’d he get those height numbers? The same place he got his grammar and lack of punctuation.
@@leroyjenkins4811like you would know better
@@M_03256nd FYI it was the BEST guess on the Obi Wan Kenobi show and ROTS he didn’t look that tall and i saw his legs while he was being assembled his legs didn’t look that long to me reason why i say that cuz there have been different actors to play the character including Hayden Christensen personally i think Hayden is the BEST but the other actor from the OG trilogy was taller than Hayden and on Rebels and Rogue One he def looked like 6’6-6’8 thats why
Darth Vader has a strong case for being one of if not the strongest duelist of the dark side in all of Star Wars, I’m willing to bet without using force-based attacks Vader would beat Sidious
I never noticed that Vader’s and Anakin’s hilts are basically the same until now
Dark yoda vs full potential anakin
Thinking...Anakin with form 7, form 2 left hand form 5 right with the Counts saber in his left hand, using Maces form 7...Anakin would when! Maces form 7 uses dark force users anger/hate against them...Good Hypo!
"Hey dude, like the new saber"
"Thanks man, I like the double blade thing you got going on"
"Oh for real? I appreciate that, I was a little nervous to switch over, you know, i just don't want to be "that guy" who's whole thing is having a double bladed saber"
"Oh no man it totally works for you, goes really nicely with your horns"
Not forgetting that Vader needed to use a double hand fighting style to protect his chest equipment.
You are correct for the most part but palps did hate lightsabers believing them to be a crutch but a useful one hence why he used one to fight the Jedi masters he also is confirmed to own 3 of them
"Large gloved hand"
Sounds like a band name.
Palpatine never liked lightsabers to begin with he only used them to mock the jedi
Palpatine got the CHODESABER
7:10 you’re welcome!
I never understood why one handed style is bad for lightsabre? Its such elegant and light weapon. One heanded should be perfect. Dont see the reason to ever wield it with two hands.
Less power and accuracy without two hands
What good is a saber if u can cut a steel door in half but not a stormtrooper?
Sidious: hates Vader’s lightsaber because it accommodates combat and resembles his first Jedi one.
Vader: hates Sidious’ lightsaber because it’s more like a trinket than a practical weapon.
Sidious to Vader: don’t be too proud of this technological terror you’ve constructed. The ability to defeat a Jedi in combat is insignificant next to the power of the force!
So what you're telling me is?...
Youngling Slayer 2.0?
I love watching vader toy with kanan
Function over fashion, or fashion over function?
Boss fights in games, their armor is so tough it takes several hits to kill them?
Why not give that so called armor to storm troopers?
Anytime someone dies by saber they get a cut...but they can cut through steel doors an remove ligaments
Its the politician vs the warrior mindset
They were made by the prop department, so Vader and Sidious should take their grievances up with them!
Can anyone tell me with specificity what fight from a movie or episode that is in cartoon with vader and ahsoka? Thanks!
So Sidious was wanting a sort of ceremonial sword
I’ve been a fan of Darth Vader since I watched the originals for the first time as a kid and I really did like the look of his lightsaber but that thing is in no way comfortable to hold!!! And is way worse to fight with! I know why and I get why it is the way it is! And it still looks great on my wall!!!
anyone knows the name of the music at the beginning of the video?
No, Anakin just did a big F You to the emperor by making it like that :)
I'm pretty sure I've always seen Vader use his lightsaber one handed. Only exception is the original Star Wars movie
I really want some enlightening, i love star wars, its just weird how the sabers work
Day 160 of asking for a part 3 of what if anakin was trained by qui gon

TBH My favorite lightsaber is uniquely my own. It's a curved lightsaber like Dooku's but it's double-bladed. And grey because it's made of Beskar.
About 5 other videos you've made covering this
There is one factor that was not touched on....
Meanwhile, Ren's Lightsaber:
"LMAO, WHY DON'D WE ADD THE BEAM HILT LIKE ON THE EUROPEAN SWORD, FOR LULZ"
Inquisitors be like: "I WUNNA SPEEN THE LIGHTSTABER LIKE A STUPID KID WITH A TOY, FOR LULZ"
Zero thought put behind those.
Sidious was just passive-aggressive and ‘knit picky…’
Knock knock.
Hating things is just the path of the dark side…
Weird how their only that powerful in the stories when they need to be
Palpatine hates lightsabers in general so it isn't a surprise
Ironic since Darth Vader hated Palpatine's lightsaber too.
If i swung a saber, just as luke an anakin...wouldnt that cut u in half?
He was SAVED by anakin LIGHTSABER's ... period.
no u are the one ho missed the point of all this.... (+Sidious never intented for Vader to replace him)
What's a jadi lol
@@M_03256 waw lol jedi
Except in other videos it's shown that Sidious says Vaders weapon is one that a Sith Warrior would be proud to wield. Interesting on this though.
I mean. Vader's light saber looks very uncomfortable to hold.
Palpatine intended to use that lightsaber when he took control of Anakin's body. Anakin's lightsaber is just the relic of a disabled asthmatic.
Alt titles: why everyone hate anakin
Are you kidding me emperor Palpatine hates everything
Well Siths hate everything. It is actually much better (from their point of view) to hate Vader's lightsaber than not. Hate brings more sith power. It is probably compliment also to Vader.
Starwars head...but hate the fact u can cut a steel door in half but cant cut storm troopers in half or enemy for that matter
Vader should've turned after he found out Luke was his son
