0:40 anybody notice the Andorian in the background seems to be wearing the updated admiral uniforms? 2:01 shouldn’t Chakotay uniform be a standard uniform without the gold piping? Gold piping is meant for the admiralty. Technically if it take place right before Star Trek Picard Season 1 then everyone is wearing the incorrect uniforms expect for the Admirals at the end. Why is Beverly Crusher hair is shorter though?
The explanation for the different uniforms is simple. Starfleet was in the process of transitioning between the old and the new. Ships and crew that were on far away assignments would be the last to receive the new uniforms.
It takes place about 15 years before Picard season 1. I think PRO season 1 is 2383, and season 2 straddles '84 and 5. The synth attack happens in '85, on First Contact Day.
About the uniform, yes I noticed right away. Actually they transition to this uniform style in this episode with Janeway wearing the same look as Picard in later scenes. Although they mention that they don’t have enough resources for the remaining fleet to be decked out in new things like new communicators because of the synth attack (an explanation I find rather weak, to be honest).

I'm nitpicking, but Dr Crusher's hair shouldn't be so gray. This is only a few years after Nemesis, where it was still ginger. It does annoy me that characters in Star Trek age as fast they do in real life. So by Picard S3 Crusher and nearly all TNG characters are totally grey. Worf definitely shouldn't be as Klingons live even longer than humans. Troi is the only one who didn't change much and still has dark hair. I know the actors (in live action ST) will age that fast obviously, but people are supposed to be living twice as long in the ST future. e.g. Dr. McCoy being 137 and active and potentially living longer. So, either set the ages of the character higher than the actor's ages (this was case of Picard / Stewart) or make a season cover longer than one year.
