Not to be a party-pooper for a great scene, but they wouldn't be so logical be simply becoming biological Vulcans. On the contrary, they would become hyper-emotional. Vulcan emotional detachment is not genetic; it is acquired through decades of rigorous mental discipline and training.

Not to nitpick but I thought the reason vulcans were logical was because of all the training and meditation. How could that be conferred in a hypospray?
What nitpick? You're completely right. As to your hypospray question, the answer is lazy writing, that's completely indifferent to well established continuity.
I had the same thought. It's frustrating, but it can make a great story. Maybe there's a point where they can't handle their emotions and have to learn Kolinahr.
I was wondering that, but I'm going to assume they added some kind of emotional stabilizer to the serum. Sure it's a handwave-y shortcut, but Trek has always played pretty fast and loose with its own rules and continuity, lol.
... Okay, I have a question... How did the four develop emotional control so quickly? Emotional control isn't genetic so... did they do something else? Am I missing something here?
I guess the serum that converts their DNA into Vulcan's probably has enough supplement enzymes to sustain typical Vulcan physiological and mental functions for the expected duration of their covert mission. In the long run, they still need to master emotional control which would trigger specific glands in their body to produce the required enzymes naturally. ←Is my made-up explanation logical?
What's more interesting/harder to reconcile is that Vulcan blood is copper-based whereas Human blood is iron-based. So whatever they were injected with didn't just rewrite their DNA, it also transmuted iron to copper.

In case anyone is wondering (and if no one has figured it out yet), the music used for the corridor scene is NOT some obscure Beastie Boys song. It’s by a group named “The Home of Happy”, and the track itself is titled “Reckless Youth” (seems oddly appropriate!).
Anyway, if you search for the name of the group and the song title here on RUclips, you will find the official music video, such as it is (less than two minutes, no actual video, just audio). LLAP!
OMG Pikes vulcanized hair is even better than his regular hair!
Pike's Peak has turned into Mt. Selaya by the looks of it.
😂😂😂😂
Spock: "Noooooooooooooooooooo" just like Kirk in Wrath of Khan...
At the end, right? I was thinking exactly the same thing 😂
Pike's Vulcan hair is out of this world.
Also out of frame, sometimes...
Whatever species Pike is, its impossible for him to have bad hair.
I had no idea Guile was Vulcan.
I hope there is an outtake of Pike screaming with the "cookie monster" voice.
@@Helbore Pike's human.
Pike’s hair is Vulcan. I feel like my understanding of the universe has been shattered beyond repair.
I don't get it, do you all actually consider this quality entertainment? I must be getting old, because TOS, TNG, DS9, and Enterprise were fine, but I don't even know what this is or want to... lmao!
@@BoopSnootWhat’s your deal? Posting all your disparaging comments about a show you claim to have never watched?Just stirring the pot for kicks? Having a good time? Trust me, the show is far, far more entertaining than you.

@@jeremyyarbro8749 I know! that's how bad it is lol!
I swear I can almost hear Spocks blood pressure rising!?!?!?!😂😂😂
I'm so confused. I thought Vulcans had to undergo years of rigorous training to bring their emotions in check. Apparently they just need injections?
Nope. Which is why they're all acting like Vulcan children.
The episode seems to scream "Come on, this is just the silliest premise the writers' room could come up with, just roll with it!".
@@dschehutinefer5627 Indeed.
That would mean sticking to some sort of canon.
I imagine there might be some more story in the rest of the episode.
It is only logical to rewatch this video endlessly as we wait in anticipation for the next season.
Damn, I was doing that without realising about it 😂😂😂😂
I just miss the show so much!
No, it's not, because this is actually really bad. Like, it makes me sad that it's part of Strange New Worlds.
Indeed
Fascinating!
Everyone talking about Pike's hair but I can't help but think La'an looks GOOD as a Vulcan.
You betcha !
Absolutely!
She looks more like a Romulan to me

It's hilarious that it completely changed their hair styles too. Uhura went from free flow to (what looks like) twisted butterfly locs instantaneously. 🤣
I love it!
Pike's Vulcan hair is an even greater feat of engineering than his human hair.
And we thought Pike's hair couldn't get any taller..... I think we should get a behind the scenes short of Anson getting his hair done and the Vulcan engineering THAT takes!!
Number of points:-
1. One hell of a serum it is also a hairdresser.
2. Turns them Vulcan but they haven’t had the years of training to control their emotions so wouldn’t they be more like Romulans?
3. Why would Spock not take the serum and change his human half to Vulcan and make it 5/5.
Stop using logic. That has no place in Kurtzman's Star Trek.
Would that be fun?
Logical. Live long and prosper.
It seems they treat their fan as brain dead goats. Star trek is completely magic freak show. No principal and laws. In s02 doctor was fighting like marine, kids teaching Spock.
Writing standards have lowered and audience standards have for some reason lowered accordingly
It seems to me the Pike's character is going to... peak in this season. Perfectly coiffed, as all things should be.
Omg - I loved this clip!!! Can’t wait for season 3!!!😊
LOL, they made Spock carry all the luggage on the return trip.
"4 and one half Vulcan to beam down." Oh I can hear Spock's blood pressure rising.
Spock: Barely detectable per my tricorder readings.
@@aqdrobert Spock, his face twitching as he calmly stated.
LOVE THIS!!!
Not to be a party-pooper for a great scene, but they wouldn't be so logical be simply becoming biological Vulcans. On the contrary, they would become hyper-emotional. Vulcan emotional detachment is not genetic; it is acquired through decades of rigorous mental discipline and training.
apparently it's not that kind of show anymore. Seems to be more of a parody/comedy show now for small children I suspect.
You forget. It was in the script.
Parody show it definitely is
Is it just me or did they look like an awesome metal rock band?!? The 4 1/2 Vulcans
They need to add some Vulcan bells and Vulcan bass drums like during the Pon Farr ceremony...
Waiting with anticipation for this season to begin. ❤❤❤
“Four and one half Vulcans to beam down”😂😂😂😂😂 OMG I was dying. “Nurse Chappell, what was that sub-vocalization”
I‘m sorry but Pike‘s hair = Pelia‘s words in this scene, “I had the same problem with LSD in the 1960s, and the 1990s and last July“. OMG that had me laughing more than I care to admit. I want a spin-off series of Lanthinites (sp?).
I think it has already been done. I believe it was called "Highlander." And maybe the immortal Flint was actually a Laathanite.
@@rickjohnston2667 When they re-remaster the TOS they should CGI in "The Concert" and all 7 "Mona Lisas" and then CGI in Spock rolling his eyes. I was still hoping Kovich was Flint, and the whole last season of DISCO was him and Pelia doing an art scam.
So Scotty is joining the team! Wee!!! :)
Not to nitpick but I thought the reason vulcans were logical was because of all the training and meditation. How could that be conferred in a hypospray?
What nitpick? You're completely right. As to your hypospray question, the answer is lazy writing, that's completely indifferent to well established continuity.
You'd think they would become overly emotional.
I had the same thought. It's frustrating, but it can make a great story. Maybe there's a point where they can't handle their emotions and have to learn Kolinahr.
then dont
I was wondering that, but I'm going to assume they added some kind of emotional stabilizer to the serum. Sure it's a handwave-y shortcut, but Trek has always played pretty fast and loose with its own rules and continuity, lol.
So, Captain Pike's history was that he was a Vulcan once, INDEFINITELY
Pike looks funny with the Johnny Bravo hair style.
I've been very happy with this show thus far. The musical episode was my favorite last season.
Like many huge changes, abilities gained. *it was in the script*
It's sci-fi. Therefore, it's logical 🤨
What's more interesting/harder to reconcile is that Vulcan blood is copper-based whereas Human blood is iron-based. So whatever they were injected with didn't just rewrite their DNA, it also transmuted iron to copper.
@@pyrioncelendil I know Voyager played with the 'magic DNA wand' alot, but this seems to be the Hogwarts of magic DNA.
The way I SCREAMED about Pike's vulcan hair lmaoooooo

The logical, Dispassionate behaviour of Vulcans is a CHOICE, not an inherent trait, developed over a lifetime of training.
Exactly. Ongoing rigorous mental training and discipline.
@@leondonnelly6271 So you're saying the ones who transformed into Vulcans would be very emotional due to lack of training which Spock had to teach them in a crash course?
