Totally agree We had a slower paced life back then I found it a lot more fun to have to go find fun and entertainment instead of being able to reach for a device to pass the time
@@kidkique yeah of course, but that’s why I said “real friendship” rather than just “friendship”. Look, it’s just my opinion but back then your friends were almost more like family. The endless hours spent together playing football, drinking, whatever…. To me I don’t see that with friendship groups anymore. I have kids in their teens and 20’s and friendship now is mostly online, like Instagram, or long calls on WhatsApp, all a little fake and throw away in my opinion.

As an American of the same age, I am very jealous. It would be 1982 and "Our House" before I heard them, and another year or 2 before I found out I was a Ska fan. That's when I found out that Madness, The Specials, and the English Beat represented a whole different genre. Today, I'm thinking about going back to my flattop

Yes they do but the English youth in Camden is non existent in 2024, the youth population is almost entirely African and Asian, they don’t go out drinking in English pubs that’s English culture.
Wow this has too be one of the most long term suppressed songs out there. Recognising happy Madness is so important. There wasn’t the internet, or 4k TV…. But there was real friendship and watching this makes me sad for days gone by.
Real friendship...wow. So true. Even when you are with your lover you have to share them, split conciousness, with the Great Illusion, the internet.
I'm pretty sure people still have friends
