I love this camera. I think sometimes people want everything and nothing at the same time. There’s a reason why fuji has multiple offerings. Find the one that works best for you. I carry the xe4 as my walk around/street camera. It’s small and the picture quality is amazing. That’s all I need.
I know you wrote this 2 years ago but I just now got mine and I'm so excited! I've always been obsessed with these rangefinder style cameras and I'm glad they're still getting love
Had my Xe4 kit delivered today. First Fujifilm camera for me. Spent the evening setting up the buttons/swipes/menus. Looking forward to getting out over the weekend with it.
I would recommend setting the front command dial to ISO. That's what I have it set on and it's so enjoyable to shoot with it while holding it to my eye and changing ISO with the front wheel.
My XE3 is my go to. I guess I'm a minimalist shooter, I have a couple of manual vintage lenses I use with it and rarely touch a menu, the only thing I'm really actively using are those nice dials. It feels like a throwback to film cameras to use and the fuji colors are great. Perfect travel camera
I’m a total beginner. Never shot on anything other than my iPhone and I’ve been in the market for a real camera recently. I thought I had settled on the Fuji X100V since everyone raves about it, but I had a couple of concerns. I was worried the fixed lens would be a limiting factor that my very small degree of experience wouldn’t be able to overcome, and I had seen many reviewers talking about it not being very video friendly since it overheats pretty quickly. The X-E4 seems like the perfect solution. It still has the minimalist approach I was looking for, paired with much better video capability and the ability to change lenses as I grow. Any of its shortcomings seem small and easily overcome via accessories, which are now affordable since on top of everything else, it’s $400 cheaper than the X100V. I think I’ve found my first camera. Thanks for being part of it 🤙🏻
The X-E4 has reignited my love for photography. It’s the combination of interesting light & compact design, really great image quality and just great to look at! Lol. Mine is set up exactly like like yours with the thumb grip (tried the screw on handgrip but kind of prefer the simplicity without) and using the XF 18mm f2 and XF 27mm f2.8. I’m looking around for an affordable XF 50mm f2. I have also used an adapter to fit my beautiful Pentax Limited lenses that also have aperture rings. 31mm f1.8, 43mm f1.9 and 77mm f1.8. They make beautiful photos on this camera. In fact I like to design and Fuji ethos so much it’s lead me to snap up an X-E1 with the 1st generation X-Trans sensor. It’s auto focus is slower, EVF refresh slower and overall less responsive but it too is a joy to use. The button placement on the X-E1 and X-E2 is much, much better, there’s more of them and they are bigger so conversely the older models are more comfortable in use. The early X-Trans sensor gives a warmer tone, slightly more contrasty image which is appealing but perhaps less accurate than this latest sensor.
Congrats to those of you who bought this beautiful camera 2 years ago. They're selling used now for 350.00 and more than the new price back then. I have an XT-4 but I still want this smaller version. I had an XE3 but I want a tilt screen for a little down low shooting... Thanks Ian for this video!!
I don’t use an Xe4, but it’s camera I’ve been thinking about buying. From your description of how u use it, how it makes u feel and your lovely images I think I’d really enjoy walking around with it and just ‘snapping’ away, without a care in the world…Thks mate.
Great video. Honestly, for me this camera was the reason I decided to get a camera again. I got tired of carrying a big dslr, fixed lens cameras felt crappy to use, the x100v was nice and compact, but I wasn’t a fan of sticking to the 35mm equiv and the x-pro was always tempting, but let’s be honest, it’s not that small and light… but this, it’s got the best of the x-pro and the x100v, with some reasonable trade offs. If you can cope with swipe gestures to change focus mode or as additional fn function buttons, it works great. If that’s too much to ask, then it’s not your camera. I’m just taking it with me everywhere, whether it’s with the 23 or the 35 lenses. Love it.
I have an X-T3 and I regularly shoot with the ISO in the 6400-8000 range. I frequently hit 12800. I really like the look of the noise Fuji's camera makes.
I've been looking at this camera the last few weeks. It's intriguing. I LOVE my GR2 as my take everywhere camera but in low-light/night time situations it gets frustrating for the way I want to shoot. Plus I've always been interested in trying Fuji, the x100V seems perfect but this feels like great/cheaper option as well.
I’d love to pick your brain on the following… I’m having a hard time with deciding on a new Fuji body, struggling with GAS, but also feeling like I want a new and/or third body. Right now I’m shooting on an XT3 and an X100V. Love both. I shoot studio portraits and headshots, personal branding photos and the occasional family session. I used to shoot engagements and weddings, but now it’s almost entirely portrait work. I have fallen in love with the rangefinder style of the X100V, and I am eyeing the XPRO 3 and the XE4. If I get the XE4, I can keep my XT3. I’m having a hard time deciding if I should sell my XT3, and get an XPRO 3, keep the XT3 and get an XE4, or just wait and save for the XPRO3 and have three cameras (XT3, XPRO & X100). I’ve also considered the XT4, but I don’t do video, don’t care about IBIS and I just don’t see the upgrade. I like to work very minimalist, and I only have a handful of lenses. I would love your thoughts as to what you would do in my shoes.
It's a great little camera. Traded in my Ricoh GR3 for it with a 27mm f2.8 pancake lens. Beautiful images, love the retro form factor. Great with the 18mm and 35mm too. Makes photography fun. Who wants complicated dials etc. when capturing that in the moment look.
About to grab one of these. I've been using an X-E1 since it came out, so I'm sure this will be an enormous upgrade. Love the small size / high image quality.
Thank you for the like... 9 months later.... 😂 I did indeed grab an x-e4, and it has indeed been fantastic. Absolutely love everything about it, except the size of the raw files. I used to shoot raw for absolutely everything, but the hit to my storage is too much. I shoot JPG now for almost everything (and the JPG's are great), except travel photography, where I'll still shoot raw.
I bought this a few months ago, I’m a good photographer and I love it, I’ve been using this for everything, some sports, some street photography, I also shoot a birth two days ago. It is one of the best camera-price out there. An absolute beauty. It has a 240fps slow motion video too btw.
Yes I didn’t touch on video as it’s not something I use it for but I can agree I’ve used on a few pro shoots and it’s insanely good. I would say one of the best options for photography at the moment. Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Thank you for your video. I already have a XE-4 camera (the kit, with XF 27mm lens), but you are the one who talks about it the best. Your photos are great. Thanks for sharing ! 👍🏾
I had a X-E2s and it was one of my favorite cameras. The range finder like form factor was perfect for a camera of that size. I used a compact manual lens. I was looking for a used E3/4 but the prices are insane. I found a sweet deal on a X-T10 but if I ever find a deal I would jump on it. The great thing about the X-E line is how compact they are. When I had mind I never thought twice about taking it with me unlike my other cameras.
I've had my Xe4 for a few weeks and so far so good. I'm looking for it to slot in where I used to use a Konica Hexar. So in that sense I'd be happy if had even fewer dialls/buttons. I find it funny how some people online get their knickers in a twist and have 'dealbreakers'. Eg. no weather sealing, af/m external switch etc etc. Maybe I'm an old fogey having started out as a photographer in the early 90's, but I really don't want too many technical barriers between what I see and how I take the image. Long way of saying I've basically switched off most options (especially the swipe function) and have made it a basic point and shoot with a nice sensor...my two cents worth 🙂
Good comment and goes for me too. I still have a Leica M3 and still have my Konica Hexar on the side so your ideas are exactly mine. Will try the XE4 with the same modes you describe.
A brilliant/the brilliant Street Photography camera - size, weight, capabilities and above all, superb simplicity. Congratulations to the Fujifilm designers/engineers whose pursuit of simplicity signals the paramount value of that principle to those of us who shoot most subjects in under five seconds.
I’ve had the X-E4 for 10 months, selling off and switching from Olympus. I started with the 27 kit lens, 18mm f2, 15-45 & 55-200 zooms. I quickly added the 14mm 2.8, 16-80mm & Viltrox 56. I love the camera but I’m still learning the system. I shoot travel (which has been stopped due to Covid) Theatre (my work) and family. I love the camera and the Fujifilm products. I bought an XT-200 as a backup and an extra RUclips studio camera that I’m in the process of setting up. ( FYI: only the X-E4 kit, the Viltrox and the 16-80 (on sale)were new. I have done some local neighborhood and park shooting with the kit, 18, 15-45 & 14. I shot a family wedding with the 16-80, and family with the kit, 18, Viltrox . For my theatre, it is the 16-80, 56 and mostly the 55-200. All in all it is a great system. I tried a third party grip but it chaffed my fingers with the 55-200 so I got Fuji’s grip and thumb rest and that made a big difference. I don’t need the selector switch as I never used or had it before so I am doing more with less. I wasn’t sure about the missing back dial/ button but I’m adjusting. I love the size and portability with all the image quality remaining intact. I like your channel. Keep up the work.
Great video, I bought an X-E4 kit just a few days ago. Even after watching all those other videos, as soon as I picked up I knew it was coming home with me. Will certainly be my daily carry, and the X-T3 will be jealous. Dont listen to all those other videos that say it isn't for you, get one in your hand and decide for yourself.
Hi - I own a XE4 for a couple of weeks now - and I simply love it. Coming from a Fuji S5Pro I did love for the colors then Nikon DX (7200) that I bought for the speed (but never gave me so much feel in the pictures as the S5) I am now happy with the XE4 as I have never been before with a camera. It gives me extremely nice Jpgs OOC using even more and better film simulation the S5pro had with the same speed as the D7200. And the additional advantage of the excellent Fuji lenses and a lightweight body. And the cherry on the cake is the fantastic design, it is - as you were saying in the video - everytime I see it on the side I want to pick it up and want to take fotos. I cannot agree more :-) - Compliments for a nice and professional video reflecting my thoughts and feelings!
I'm watching this with the idea of doing some research and although I've seen plenty of criticism I am still drawn to it. Your video has been different to others and i like that. Thank you for the information.
I have had a weird love/hate with Fuji for a while. Sometimes its been the sensor. Since the XTrans 4 and xpro3 I have really started to love it. Ditched my Sony gear. But the xpro body is not so suited for long events and sessions. I traded it for a XT4, which is decent. Like the sensor. And grip. Good battery. But I miss the rangefinder feel. I might spring for the xe4 and 27mm. Its a nice setup.
I was lucky enough to snatch up what was likely one of the last good deals on an xe4 since they’re discontinued. I’m also a Sony guy (big investments in lenses, etc) but I wanted a Fuji for its extra creative tools. I however am hanging onto my Sony gear because I use it for professional purposes. Can’t wait to get it!🙏
You've included some lovely photos! This is a great review. I don't have the E4, but I have, in order of purchase, the E3, E2s and E1. They are very similar in size and feel to my Leica M3. You are right, the Fuji E series begs to be picked up and taken along.
Great review. I have had the x-e4 and 18 1.4 for a couple of weeks. I also have/had the Leica Q2 which I got thinking I would sell the Fuji. Not so. The Q2 was just shipped out to its new owner today. The Q2 is a beautiful camera but I spent more time worrying about the expensive piece of equipment in my hand than I did the picture I was composing - the worry got in the way of the enjoyment of shooting. The quality of the Fuji / 18 combo is 95+ % that of the Leica at 25 % of the cost.
I'm glad that combination worked, because I've never been convinced that my own 16mm f/1.4 and 23mm f/1.4 lenses would balance well on the camera. I don't particularly fancy adding a thumb rest and/or grip, but would probably do so if it solved the problem. I feel as though the absence of some kind of grip on the camera was a huge mistake to be honest.
@@MichealSeaghdha I have both the grip and thumb rest. I actually like the idea of being able to make the camera a quasi x100 by stripping it down and putting the 27mm on it; then putting the grip/thumb rest on as needed. With that said, I think they would have made a lot of happy people by including those things with the camera, even with the price bump. The 18 really benefits from either/both grips. I can only assume it would be the same with the 16.
@@squiddah Thanks for replying and yes I'm certain you're right, if the 18mm works then the 16mm surely will. The 18mm is actually the lens I've always wanted for myself, but unfortunately for me the news of its release only came within weeks of me buying the slighter wider lens. In an ideal world I'd own both, but that now seems a bit extravagant, even by my standards.
If I were to buy a Fuji camera now, I'd consider the XE4 or a used XT3. Dream camera would be the X Pro 3, but money lol. Good video! Definitly enjoyed it and I think the XE4 is awesome. Simple as that.
Huge Fuji fan. Currently have the XT4 and the XF10 and in the future I am very interested in adding XPro or XE4? Ahhh they make such fun cameras. I don't miss my Sony a7 at all
I have this camera and for some reason I still watch this video from time to time 🤣. So good. Also! ...please could you tell me the name of the song that starts at 7:05 🙏🏽
Great video thanks for the content. I watched a couple of RUclips videos before buying this and kept looking/ comparing to the x100v. So I went with my gut feel and pushed the button and bought this with mixed emotions. Well I glad I went with my gut as I love it. It’s great for street as it’s so small. And I can use other Fuji lenses. I bought it with the 27mm lens so perfect combination. Love it 😍
Nice review. 😊I decided between X-E4 or X-S10. In the end, the X-S10 won. I focused my choice more on video. But otherwise your review of X-E4 is accurate. This is how I imagine a small price available camera for street photography. 👍
I have owned my xe4 for 6wks now and although a micro 43rds shooter, I am enjoying this camera. If you are a competent photographer you will love this camera. Nice video, well presented. Thank you
Thanks for this video! I'm looking at the X-E4 as an upgrade to my X-T20. My feeling is I want a smaller offering than the X-T20 for most time, and a "bigger" camera for more serious stuff, like the X-T4. I love the X100 but want interchangeable lenses. Also - loved seeing the familiar Birmingham sites, some beautiful shots dude!
Love the video! I was wondering, you mentioned that you have been mainly using the jpegs, what are you "recipe" settings? I loved how your pictures came out!
Thanks for this review! I used to have the older version and this video convinced me about the newer one! Seems more versatile and less overpriced than the X100V.
Just bought my xe4. Was looking to get x100v. Then I tried xe4. With the price. Flexibility of changing lens and small form factor. I don't get why x100v got all the rave
@iansnapy I was intrigued about you No-IBIS shooting technique, ISO6400 at 1/15s. Can you elaborate how high iso helps with camera shake down to 1/15th? Thank you so much!
I love this camera. I had a Fuji X-T30 and Nikon Z6 prior and as a beginner it was intimidating and with all of its functionality overwhelming. The question was, what was I trying to do and since purchasing the X-E4 I've established a flow and an enjoyment in photography I didn't find before. X-E4 over 100V any day of the week "for me". I love to have some freedom with focal length and it adds to my ability to use this tool to create.
very informative review. I like the images because of their film look. you saw an image and you captured it. I've been waiting several months for my xe-4. I could let you use a film camera while I wait. btw do you shoot film?
Yes fujifilm i'm from a Nikon Cannon user it's time for me to hang up these full frame cameras. I kid you not Fujifilm has really done there home work, I'm shooting jpeg instead of RAW who would have thought. I love the physical dials It's so much easier to show students learning the Art of Photography. ISO Aperture Steps all the essential info from the old days of film photography. I hope one day to be a Fujifilm Photographer.
Great review, I am considering x100v , because of delivery issues by local LCE store suggested the XE-4, after. Your review I will take a look. For me I need the campers to fit in a jacket pocket if not then it’s a deal breaker. Thank yiu for the review very structured and from a photographer. Lastly as an aside , if shooting raw which processing software do you use? Right now I use lightroom but it does not seem to be great when processing Fuji raw files. Thanks in advance for any comments you can provide
Im using Lightroom, I haven’t had any issues with Fuji files and processing them through that. I also shoot a lot with just Jpg on this camera as the Fuji Jpgs are just so good! X100v is an awesome camera and I would say XE4 is great and suits my needs more as I can change up focal lengths when I need. Fuji lens are super small so can throw in my pocket when out and about. Thanks for watching.
I use a lot of custom ones if I’m honest, I really like the classic chrome and eterna presets. In fact it’s hard not to like all of them haha The raws are really nice also and I shoot jpg and raw to allow me to mess with the images if I want to. Thanks for watching
I love the jpeg film simulations that fuji provide but I could never settle on which one I'd preferred until I discovered that shooting raw and using LR I can alter each and every one in the edit. Fantastic
Thanks for the great review Ian. I've had my XE4 for a year now and couldn't be happier with it. I too use it with fuji's amazing f2 primes, they are fantastic companions for this little camera. I'm on the 1.04 firmware and no longer have any issues with the image flipping on the screen at 10:45 I don't think it's even happened once since the update. Is this still a problem for you?
@@IanSnape I looked into this a bit further; it seems in one of the firmware updates fuji have reduced the sensitivity of the EVF (which causes the flipping if it's too close to your body, it thinks the screen is flipped up) from about 10cm to about 6cm before it will flip the screen. I've tried it with mine and it doesn't seem to be totally consistent sometimes it will flip at about 7cm but mostly I can hold it very close to my body and not have it flip, it's definitely much improved from how it was out of the box. The lcd flipped out 90 degrees is 5cm so it just hasn't been an issue for me recently. There isn't any setting that can be changed to fix it though unfortunately. If your on the latest firmware I'm not sure why your camera would be different to mine, maybe just a difference in how we use them.
Thanks my friend appreciate you checking the video out. The speakers are Kantu YU2 speakers, they are ok but i might be moving them on at some point. Thanks
I have an xt3 and don't use it because it is so small if i would have wait for the x-t4 i would still be using fuji All camera have there strengths and weeknesses
""weather sealing""¿? my X-E4 is used for bike packing. it was exposed to heavy rain for several hours once. it stopped working for around 3-4 days, after it dried it worked again. it gets worse ;)) the first week this year I did a stupid river crossing on the bike, all my gear was well under water ;((. I thought that's it, now the Fuji sure is KO! water came out of the body everywhere!! the next days on tour I placed the camera every night on heaters or in front of the aire c. after 4 days it worked again!! ;))) #myfujilovesme
Hey mate, great video. I wanna get one for me but I intend to use it also as a travel camera, to take on my hikes, etc. Will the lack of of weather sealing break the camera if I take it somewhere when it's raining? I'd be careful to not let rain drop on it but idk if the moisture can get it somehow... If you can't tell already, I'm a camera noob
Buy a rain cover for the body. They are cheap. And there is rain and rain. A shower I wouldn't worry. Heavy rain and storms? I'll be in the pub so it wouldn't matter to me!
Good video. I just can't get past the lack of grips, but I am thinking of grabbing one as I like the weight of the XE line, then experimenting with various stick on grips. But it would mean selling my X Pro 2 which I got as I hated the XE3 downgrades from the XE2 (rear thumb rest, smaller EVF, general feel). Seems like a big downgrade for the same price (would lose the nice build, D pad, focus switch). But the weight and having a flip screen and in-camera Classic Neg is tempting.
Having never used the XE3 I couldn’t say, but I think you can move past the issues with the XE4 as it’s just a super camera. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏼
Firstly thanks very much appreciate that. I unfortunately don’t have any experience with this device and I’m just looking into it now. Looks pretty interesting
Thanks for the review! I've been looking for a camera for my little online shop for product photography - both videos and photos. I'd like to produce videos with a bit of artistic look just like your video here, so I'd like to know: 1) does this Fuji have ultra wide movie mode or at least the grid lines to help produce it? 2) Fuji seem to have very few macro and OIS lenses available, any suggestions on what focal length/lens model I should consider if I buy this camera? Thanks in advance!
I am thinking of getting this one to go along with my X-Pro3, I do have enough lenses but would throw a Voigtlander 40mm on this to really keep it small and simple. Great info and video here. Thank you.
For me, switching the camera on and off is quit difficult, cannot get a good grip on the on/off switch. And it's a shame it's not possible to double click the joystick to center the af point again.
Hi Ian. Black Country photographer here! I have just watched this (great video) and wonder if you can help me. I see from comments you are using this still, which is great. I have an X-E3 which I love, but wanted to try in camera multi exposures. At the Photo show I saw, looked and ended up buying an X-T5. I dont think I spent enough time seriously considering what I wanted. I haven’t taken many images with it (& the 40mp results are probably much more than I need), but I am just not feeling the love for it. Have you looked at the XT5? I think you can do multiple exposures on the X-E4 but will check the specs. Also, on the X-E4 I presume you can switch off the touchscreen as with the XE3? I use my left eye on the viewfinder so was always catching it with my nose!, and can I assign ISO to the top front right function button as I do with my X-E3, or the front dial I guess? I need to decide what to do, stick with the XT5, sell it while it is new and pick up a used X-E4 or stick with it and see whether an X-E5 materialises, next year if at all. I would appreciate your thoughts. I know it depends on what I shoot to an extent, but I dont do pro shoots and do like minimalism, the Xt5 almost overwhelms with options and dials. Cheers for anything you can comment on.
I’ve actually considered an XT5 I like the XT cameras, the XE4 is pretty similar I think and not a huge size difference from what I’ve seen. You can turn off the touch also as I’m a left eye viewfinder person also! Let me know what you decide! Thanks for watching
@@IanSnape Thanks for getting back to me and sharing your thoughts. It has been a real conundrum. I am not one to have more cameras than I need. The XT-5 is a superb body, and even though I am not feeling the love, having the central viewfinder and a rubber cup around it does help being left eyed and a glasses wearer. The 40mp maybe ‘over the top’ but does give crop potential. I think i felt a little overwhelmed by the numbers of buttons and dials on the Xt5 on the one time I have taken it out so far, but maybe once muscle memory has moved from my XE3 to the XT5 all will become better. Also to minimise a few of those buttons/dials I have locked the ISO dial and set the front command dial to alter that, so have everything to hand without needing to take my eye from the viewfinder. The Play button on the XT5 isnt in an obvious place (to me) top left on the back, so I assigned that to the bottom of the dpad. Maybe its a case of just finding a way round it. I have decided against the X-E4 for now as so many reviews talk about the minimalism gone a step too far and it is less user friendly than the XE3 (which I loved). I am going to take the XT5 out and give it a chance, and unless I REALLY can’t get on with it, I will likely carry on with that and see what/if an XE5 materialises and what it offers. You are right that the size difference isnt great, they are basically the same, apart from the raised viewfinder in the centre. Another plus point for me is a lockable diopter adjustment. Thanks again for replying, your video really helped me look at my present situation. 🙏👍
I tried the M1 which I loved except for the slow focus. So I checked out the XE4 but same problem and the VF was minuscule. The AF just wasn't up to the competition IMO. If they ever make an XE5 with better AF and VF I'll deffo go for it. I really love this camera but the AF and VF just wouldn't let me part with my money
I’ve never had any issues with AF on this camera and for the size the EVF is ok. It’s never going to be any more than it is as it will just destroy the Fuji lineup. Thanks for watching
The X-E4 was on my to get list a while ago, after being an X-E,1 and 3 user. I don't know why, I ended up getting the X-Pro2. I am thinking of doing a swap.
Same here. Love the X Pro 2 but not as much as my XE2 due to the weight. Now I am wondering about getting an XE4 after all and just trying various grips. Things is, I hated the XE3 and this sounds like it also has the smaller EVF and less solid feel. Will just have to get one and see how it goes before rushing into selling the X Pro.
You make this camera very tempting! I love the size, and minimalistic vibe vs. my XH-1 and Pro-3. Great point about getting to change lenses vs. the 100V. Curious, how do you change the ISO, No in-dial ISO right?
A button on the top next to the shutter release. Press it and in the EVF or back panel the options come up. A quick movement of the joystick and there you are. The camera looks like it doesn't have enough dials and buttons. Nonsense. Everything is to hand, literally, and the minimalism makes it a pleasure to use.
@@IanSnape yes, 8bit internally, but you can get 10bit 422 using ext recorder. But i believe 8bit for street, travel, and casual video is more than enough.

Love it.
I have both.. x100v and xe4 for zoom lens. Iam a big fan of fujifilm i love it so much
I'm thinking of picking it up with the pancake 27 for the ultimate small package. How small is the 23 in comparison?
I have this camera and I just love this little guy. I also got the thumbgrip and a little red button for shutter
I have an X-T3 and I regularly shoot with the ISO in the 6400-8000 range. I frequently hit 12800. I really like the look of the noise Fuji's camera makes.
Same and film sims are so much fun
I've been looking at this camera the last few weeks. It's intriguing. I LOVE my GR2 as my take everywhere camera but in low-light/night time situations it gets frustrating for the way I want to shoot. Plus I've always been interested in trying Fuji, the x100V seems perfect but this feels like great/cheaper option as well.
Thanks Jeremy
I’d love to pick your brain on the following…
I’m having a hard time with deciding on a new Fuji body, struggling with GAS, but also feeling like I want a new and/or third body.
Ayo, i meant to write “food” photographer 🤡
Thank you for your video. I already have a XE-4 camera (the kit, with XF 27mm lens), but you are the one who talks about it the best. Your photos are great. Thanks for sharing ! 👍🏾
Absolutely love mine, i prefer it to my XH2S. Its always with me because of the size and incognito factor.
Yes dude totally agree with you on these pointa
Your dreamy pictures inspire me additionally to get this camera
Nice photos, man! Great video! And hello from Ukraine!
Had my xe4 a month now.And it makes photography fun again, coupled with an xc 16-50 until i invest in a couple of f2 primes, its an absolute joy.
I cannot agree more :-) -
Compliments for a nice and professional video reflecting my thoughts and feelings!
Thanks for the input Darren, I might check out that 1.4
Appreciate the feedback and for the support.
It’s great the combination also with the 35mm 1.4
I think it is a great camera. I wouldn't mind paying more for weather sealing. The x100v got it so size isn't an excuse really.
If I were to buy a Fuji camera now, I'd consider the XE4 or a used XT3. Dream camera would be the X Pro 3, but money lol. Good video! Definitly enjoyed it and I think the XE4 is awesome. Simple as that.
Thanks dude, I actually picked up an XT4 because of the XE4
Thanks for the comment and support, as always it’s appreciated.
Huge Fuji fan. Currently have the XT4 and the XF10 and in the future I am very interested in adding XPro or XE4? Ahhh they make such fun cameras. I don't miss my Sony a7 at all
Love my XE4. First nice camera and have taken hundreds of pictures in the last 4 months.
Such an awesome review! Really appreciate you thoughts on the camera. Thanks for making such an awesome video!
loved this - may need to pick one up!
I have this camera and for some reason I still watch this video from time to time 🤣. So good. Also! ...please could you tell me the name of the song that starts at 7:05 🙏🏽
The camera I should have purchased. So sad this series has been discontinued.
This is what a photography channel is supposed to be! more photos, less videos of the narrator. Subscribed!
I've missed my xe2 since I sold it. I like the form factor.
Do you mean you have the XE4 and miss the XE2? That happened to me when I went from XE2 to XE3, so I went back to the XE2.
Very well done video. And, more importantly, I love the images you captured
Seconded! I'd love to know some of the settings/film recipes you're walking around with. Have this camera and an X-T3. Love them both.
Great review - just ordered a used one from MPB with 27mm ! Can't wait to try it.
Yes! I've found taking JPEGs almost exclusively with my Fuji cameras is so liberating. Mind you, I'm just a hobbyist. 😏
The biggest issue I have is remembering how to change from Photo to Video mode ... Love this camera much more than the sony A500 and even XT2
Love the video! I was wondering, you mentioned that you have been mainly using the jpegs, what are you "recipe" settings? I loved how your pictures came out!
I’m looking to put a video together about this 🙌🏼
Great video mate, love the xe4. Like you, everything I walk past it I pick it up and take pictures 📸
Really great review! Would you rate the camera any differently with the recent price increases on the Used market?
The most “photographer’s” camera after the Leica M, in my opinion! Also your photos are amazing!
Love the XE4 as well and the 27mm my favourite street lens.
Thanks for this review! I used to have the older version and this video convinced me about the newer one! Seems more versatile and less overpriced than the X100V.
Glad I could help!
Thank you for this. Left a sub here! Excited to see what else you offer.
Just bought my xe4. Was looking to get x100v. Then I tried xe4. With the price. Flexibility of changing lens and small form factor. I don't get why x100v got all the rave
A, very nice review,
B, some lovely shots
C, that rucksack rocks, what is it?!
One of my favorite cameras when I’m not shooting film. Paired with some vintage glass it’s the perfect addition to any kit.
Love my XE4 with the 35/1.4. So small and powerfull. And the looks 🔥🔥🔥
Absolutely powerful.
Loved this video! Beautiful images 👏👏
If I was in the market for a camera right now I would go and pick this up immediately, great video!
I owned an X2 and loved the little camera . X5 on the horizon?
Fuji's thumb grip I heard is designed so that you can also access all the buttons easily. Maybe worth a try?
Definitely, I can't use my xe4 without the thumb grip
great review and great shots! which film recipes do you find yourself using a lot?
I use a lot of custom ones if I’m honest, I really like the classic chrome and eterna presets. In fact it’s hard not to like all of them haha
The raws are really nice also and I shoot jpg and raw to allow me to mess with the images if I want to.
Yes it is! I wondered if they had brought out a fix, mines pretty temperamental, can you turn it off in settings do you know?
Very good review! Btw, what brand of desktop speakers appeared twice in your video?
Thanks my friend appreciate you checking the video out. The speakers are Kantu YU2 speakers, they are ok but i might be moving them on at some point.
Thanks
I have an xt3 and don't use it because it is so small if i would have wait for the x-t4 i would still be using fuji
All camera have there strengths and weeknesses
""weather sealing""¿? my X-E4 is used for bike packing. it was exposed to heavy rain for several hours once. it stopped working for around 3-4 days, after it dried it worked again. it gets worse ;)) the first week this year I did a stupid river crossing on the bike, all my gear was well under water ;((. I thought that's it, now the Fuji sure is KO! water came out of the body everywhere!! the next days on tour I placed the camera every night on heaters or in front of the aire c. after 4 days it worked again!! ;))) #myfujilovesme
Great video! Thanks for sharing! A question off topic... what is the backpack you are using? I like it a lot. Stay safe and healthy
Love the Detroit hat!
Where did you get this thumb grip my dude? Cracking video!
The best camera may be the one you bring it to service centre to replace its shutter.
Well done video mate
Beautiful photos. Would it be rude to ask what film recipe settings you’re using?
It was a custom one I was using but I believe it was based on a Portra 500 style
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏼
hey Ian, thanks for your work. do you have any experience in adding the fotodiox tiltshift adapter on the x e4? thanks
80mm macro is so sharp you could cut yourself on it.
I am thinking of getting this one to go along with my X-Pro3, I do have enough lenses but would throw a Voigtlander 40mm on this to really keep it small and simple. Great info and video here. Thank you.
Where to get that red shutter cover and thumb grip?
For me, switching the camera on and off is quit difficult, cannot get a good grip on the on/off switch. And it's a shame it's not possible to double click the joystick to center the af point again.
Great video! Really nice photography too!
Lovely photos. What film sim. did you use? Great video btw.
@@IanSnape thanks for your reply-I bow to your experience
:)
This will be my first camera
Hi there Ian, love the video:))) can you please tell me the song at 3:55 thanks
Wonderful Review - thanks Mate :)
Great review!
Totally cant decide betweet X-E4 and X-T3 not sure do I want to spend more and is it worth or just get the cheaper X-E4
Really nice video.
Excellent review
Thank you kindly
Between xt3 and xe4 for street photography and travel which one do you suggest? The xt3 is more better than xe4?
Well in fact the XE4 is probably the same photowise but video I think you get 10bit in camera where the XE4 I believe is only 8bit
@@IanSnape yes, 8bit internally, but you can get 10bit 422 using ext recorder. But i believe 8bit for street, travel, and casual video is more than enough.
