I found the metering and focussing activation on the shutter release first pressure to be too twitchy so I set my camera up with the AEL button set for back button focus. I then set the downward pressure click of the joystick lever to give me the focus checking zoom for manual lenses. The sideways joystick movements still shift the focus rectangle but I prefer to leave it centered.
I can NOT tell you how hype I was to see a shot of the Ben Franklin Bridge as the opening shot! So dope yo see another person in Philly using Fuji cams, especially the XE4. What hood is that you’re using on the 27mm? I have the OG version as well and want a nice square hood for it…
I love my classic silver X-E4 with my collection of small primes - glad I got one for Australian $1,050.00 a year ago. I've got a collection of older Fuji classic cameras and use X-H and X-T systems to run my scientific and technical imaging business but there is ONE CAMERA I WOULD KILL FOR: A Fujifilm 'X100VI' with the 40MP X-Trans sensor, IBIS, X-T style screen movements and an 18mm f/2 fixed lens (28mm equivalent) with macro and digital cropping with optical viewfinder frames for 35mm and 50mm. In short a 'Leica Q2 killer'! How about it Fuji?
I don’t think you will be able to waterproof it. From my experience, I have taken it out in a drizzle and it has been OK. My approach to it is whenever I don’t use it. I’ll make sure I either put it in my hoodie pocket or cover it with my jacket so it’s not exposed to the rain when I don’t use it. Now I’m not telling you to go out and go shoot in the rain but what I can tell you is that when I went out in rainy conditions, I haven’t had problems yet.
I've been using this camera for more than two years without baby sitting it. Don't be to worry about no weather resistant in this camera, this camera could withstand drizzle or little snowy drop condition when using WR lens.
Very good video Steven, gonna try some of your recipes. One question: I use the AEL/AFL button for manuel focusing, if I set it for photometry won’t it take away the Manuel focus capability? Thank you for a great video.
I see these cameras for sale at Jessops but they come with a XF27mm F2.8 R WR Lens. Would you consider this a good choice for street photography? Or would you advise buying used from a site like MPB and choosing a better lens?
Well, to be honest, it all depends on what focal length you want to shoot with if you’re looking for a around 40 mm full frame equivalent plans, then that lens is great. And that is the one that’s on my Fuji 100% of the time at the moment. It is a great lens that you can use for basically anything but if you feel like the 2.8 aperture is not enough for then you might want to look for a different focal length. For me personally it’s OK because I rarely shoot at F2.8. Most of the time I am shooting between F4 and F 10. also getting it used is not a bad idea either if you get a good deal on it. I bought the X E3 back then used and I mostly buy all of my lenses used because I don’t care about cosmetic scratches on the outside. All I care about is that it is in proper working condition and the glass is clean. I hope that helps.
Hey. So I am glad I did make the choice to go with the xe4 and the biggest reason is the flip screen. I use it more than I think I would especially for shooting from the hip. Another reason that made my decision was that I was not able to find a great deal on a xe3 like I did before. Everything was overpriced because of the recent Fuji hype. And the xe4 was available relatively close to me for a normal price so I figured that I might have less issues when it comes to repairs or supplies in the future. I hope that makes sense. 🤷🏼♂️

I am not sure it has that menu option either. Personally, I would just leave it out and not worry about it because it’s not going to have that big of an impact in my opinion and will make the processing for your photos in camera slightly faster. But if anybody knows if this menu option exists on the XE4. Please share it. 👍🏻
That’s a great question! The film sims only work in jpeg, the idea being that your photo is “pre-edited” coming right out of the camera. I love it, considering how much time I spend in Lightroom and Ps editing mySony pics for work photography, my Fuji is my fun camera🙏🏼
As others said, the raws remain unaffected, you can apply the build in simulations and to some extent complete recipes retroactively in post though (At least in Capture One, not sure about light room).
I find it interesting you recommend to keep Clarity set to 0 and then share three recipes you created and the first two have Clarity not set to 0. Why say one thing and then recommend another? Can you explain?
Because the recipes that you can see on the screen all the recipes from Fuji weekly, but my recommendation is to keep the clarity setting there to zero to not slow down your camera too much
@@StevenSchulzPhoto But photometry is how the camera measures the brightness of the scene. Here you are referring to the focus mode assigned to the AE button. Two different things.
