I’m having one RN … Insane pain left side of my butt, down my leg. Starting from the tail bone. The worst, I feel it even when I don’t move at all. (Kinda warm stigma, under the nerve) 🤬 When I do move ? You can hear some : « Oh fuuuck » « Jesussss » « Aww you bitch » or most used « Oh comooon you can do it, you just 31 image when you’ll turn 60 » echoing in the flat 😅😂
When I have this type of pain the way I typically get up is by rolling on my stomache then put both arms in to a push up position and use that as leverage to push my whole upper torso back in to a bowing position or hailing position. From there I use my arm as leverage again to push my upper body off the floor and then use my legs to stand up. At no point will you be bending your back sitting this routine

I’m in my freshman year of college and about 5 days ago I was hit with terrible sciatica pain, I’ve been doing your exercises since yesterday and they’ve seriously been helping me stretch out and release some tension in my lower back. It’s hard to be careful when I’m running around from one class to the next, especially sitting for long hours since I’m an art student with studio classes, so this is super appreciated, keep up the great work!
Doc and everybody else, I've had a pinched nerve/caught back/sciatica for 2-3 weeks now. EVERYTHING hurt; sitting, walking, standing, lying down. Could hardly walk. I did this exercise 5 times in a row, afterwards I did 3 of the 'Low back stretch for pinched nerves and tight muscles' from dr. Mendell (motivalionaldoc), and the pain is gone! I'll repeat these exercises for a few days to make sure my back is okay. THANK YOU!!!

@@garykennedy542 Jesus that sounds pretty bad and serious! Have you seen a doctor/chiro? I think if you're experiencing numbness that's a bit worrying. I dont know what causes my pinched nerves. I've had it for a while since my 20s, when it just suddenly happened. I've kept doing the exercises since I posted and it gets better day by day. I did get immediate relief, but then it slowly crept back, but not in any way as bad. It's nearly completely gone today, so I'll just keep doing the exercises. Sometimes I'll lie and watch a movie/series, while just doing the Dr. Mendell stretch. All the best to you, and I really hope that you're back gets better. All summer is a long time to have this.
My Dr as well as my chiropractor and my sister who is a massage therapist ALL told me that it's really essential to exercise your glutes and lower back muscles in order to keep sciatica away. They said the stronger the muscles are back there the better they can hold your bones into place so you don't get the scatica misalignments. So as soon as you feel able to do some glute exercises that should be really helpful!!! Even just walking up and down the stairs will work the glutes out. Putting a folded cloth or toilet paper roll in between your legs and squeezing your knees together will help the lower back muscles a lot! It can really help to alleviate some of the pain too!!! Best of luck to you!!! 🙏💫

It's been 3 weeks and it still hasn't fully healed. Sciatica and all it's repercussions are so awful!!! 😭😭😭😭

I've been really sick this year, and my muscle mass has significantly diminished, and this is when the sciatica and lower back really began troubling me. I'll add this little piece of advice into your good advice; remember to work all your glutes, not just gluteus maximus. Gluteus medio is very important too. Have a great week, mate.

Thanks for the videos! I'm 51 years old and have had back pain for almost 30 years. I'm a contractor which doesn't help and I've developed a high tolerance for aches and pains. This last year I've been experiencing pain in a different way. I thought, initially, that I had pulled a hamstring. The pain and discomfort rarely subsided. Then my left foot started going numb and would get shooting pain when I moved a certain way. I reached my breaking point and started to look for relief in the form of stretching exercises. This short popped up first next to another video of yours. I tried the exercise and, BAM!, instant relief! Thank you so much!

The outside leg is actually the muscle that lengthens getting a stretch.. if you want the inside leg/glute muscles to lengthen just put your elbow and wrist on the wall horizontally at a 90 degree angle (shoulder not touching the wall) you can really sink into the stretch with this allowing the room and leverage you need to lengthen the glute minimus and the piriformis muscle which sits right above the sciatic nerve. Hope this helps

Thank you so much! I watched many videos but finally this video helped me out. I don't know whether this is a coincidence but as soon as I did this exercise my sciatic pain on the left leg went away. Actually it was replaced by a much less severe muscular stiffness on the front left of my thigh. The great thing is I could walk with much less pain. Before this exercise, I had to cringe my teath in pain & grip a crutch or a revolving chair to move.

I didn’t sleep last night because of sciatica pain in my right side. I couldn’t even move for at least 30 minutes before that. And I haven’t been able to stand up straight since it started. I got a lift chair for my Mom and it helped A LOT. I obviously know nothing about your financial situation but we got one from a state program. If you don't take care of yourself you can't take care of her. Best of luck😊

This really helped me so much this morning. I had a massive flareup in my leg and it was even hard to walk without excruciating pain after just a few minutes of this I had more than 90% pain relief and was able to go walk my dog comfortably this video was a lifesaver.

I really torqued my back sometime last Thursday night or Friday and worsened it with some heavy lifting and yardwork Friday and have been an absolute misery all weekend. They said the stronger the muscles are back there the better they can hold your bones into place so you don't get the scatica misalignments. So as soon as you feel able to do some glute exercises that should be really helpful!!! Even just walking up and down the stairs will work the glutes out. Putting a folded cloth or toilet paper roll in between your legs and squeezing your knees together will help the lower back muscles a lot! It can really help to alleviate some of the pain too!!! I'm so frustrated myself, it's been about 2 months for me now as well. And I've accidentally bruised my nerve which really set me back in my healing process. I was trying to massage out my glute muscle but didn't realize the spot I was working on was the nerve (and I was trying to be strong and dedicated and got too aggressive with it). It's been 3 weeks and it still hasn't fully healed. Sciatica and all it's repercussions are so awful!!! 😭😭😭😭

Now that you mention weak muscles causing sciatica and lower back pain, it makes total sense. I've been really sick this year, and my muscle mass has significantly diminished, and this is when the sciatica and lower back really began troubling me.
I'll add this little piece of advice into your good advice; remember to work all your glutes, not just gluteus maximus. Gluteus medio is very important too.

Thanks for the videos! I'm 51 years old and have had back pain for almost 30 years. I'm a contractor which doesn't help and I've developed a high tolerance for aches and pains. This last year I've been experiencing pain in a different way. I thought, initially, that I had pulled a hamstring. The pain and discomfort rarely subsided. Then my left foot started going numb and would get shooting pain when I moved a certain way. I reached my breaking point and started to look for relief in the form of stretching exercises. This short popped up first next to another video of yours. I tried the exercise and, BAM!, instant relief! Thank you so much!

I tried many different stretches. This one actually works! God Bless you I hurt so bad I was ready to cry.
The outside leg is actually the muscle that lengthens getting a stretch.. if you want the inside leg/glute muscles to lengthen just put your elbow and wrist on the wall horizontally at a 90 degree angle (shoulder not touching the wall) you can really sink into the stretch with this allowing the room and leverage you need to lengthen the glute minimus and the piriformis muscle which sits right above the sciatic nerve. Hope this helps

I don't know whether this is a coincidence but as soon as I did this exercise my sciatic pain on the left leg went away. Actually it was replaced by a much less severe muscular stiffness on the front left of my thigh. The great thing is I could walk with much less pain. Before this exercise, I had to cringe my teath in pain & grip a crutch or a revolving chair to move.
I'm recently getting sciatica pain at night. It wakes me up! I've been looking for ways to find relief. I'm definitely going to try this before going to bed tonight! 🙏 Thank you!

I didn’t sleep last night because of sciatica pain in my right side. I couldn’t even move for at least 30 minutes before that. And I haven’t been able to stand up straight since it started. I did this twice and the stabbing pain is GONE! All that’s left is a dull ache down my leg but I can move and stand up again! Thank you SO MUCH! I’m keeping this ready at all times now.

Oh my goodness im so grateful for you doc, I've had the WORST sciatica pain but this has video has helped me reduce the pain significantly and I can walk more with less pain now.

This really helped me so much this morning. I had a massive flareup in my leg and it was even hard to walk without excruciating pain after just a few minutes of this I had more than 90% pain relief and was able to go walk my dog comfortably this video was a lifesaver.
