Sciatic nerve pain can be tricky and painful. If it's something you struggle with, here's a simple 5 minute yoga sequence to help you alleviate this discomfort. Sciatica refers to inflammation or pinching of the sciatic nerve. You might feel this in your low back, in your hips, glutes and radiating down the leg. I'll take you through 5 yoga poses for sciatica pain relief which will target your hips and lower back.
Please remember that sciatica nerve pain is different for everyone and the general rule of thumb with all health & fitness is that if something doesn't feel good, don't do it! If there's pain while performing any of these poses please leave them out or reduce the level of intensity.
The five yoga poses for sciatica pain relief I'll be guiding you through are:
- staff pose/dandasana
- seated twist/ardha matsyendrasana
- reclined pigeon/supta kapotasana
- reclined hand to big toe pose/supta padangusthasana
- bridge pose/setu bandha sarvangasana

I used to follow you years ago and did your videos every morning. I fell into a deep depression and im trying to find my inner peace again. I came just across this one and it was a sign. I have sciatic and herniated disks in my back. Happened when I was 14 im 34 now. I can't remember a day without pain. It did help my back but more importantly it gave me a moment of peace which I REALLY needed. I will start watching and doing yoga 🧘♀️ again every morning. Thankyou for your motivation and kindness ❤

Bloody hell - I did this for the first time today and honestly it was amazing. I woke up with really bad Sciatica pain today to the point where are little movement on my left lower side caused a flare. It really made moving hard and I struggled to even put my jeans on. However this has worked wonders. The pain is minimal now but the main concern for me today was my movement and this has helped me get some movement back so thank you!
Omg thank you for this!! I’ve been struggling with sciatic pain for the past few months and while I have some PT exercises for where the nerve is actually pinched/irritated, it doesn’t really ease the pain a lot of the time. Yoga in general helps, but I’ve been hoping you, specifically, would do a video focusing on sciatica ❤ YAY

Sciatica pain is worsened with my period so I’m grateful for this
Last month, I was struck with my first bout of sciatica at the ripe age of 26, luckily only for a couple weeks. It was a relief to remember that this video was in your feed as something I could turn to when I didn't know what to do. These poses were interesting, if nothing else. I literally couldn't manage staff pose, because it made the pain so sharp, which was just crazy because it's just sitting? But reclined pigeon was just amazing. Anyway, the experience sucked, hope it never happens again, but I'm sure it will. Thanks, Kassandra, for tackling so many different needs.

I have siatica from having a very active lifestyle on my farm, and I tried alot of videos but they were too "soft" for me, this here is the more rewarding stretches and gave immediate relief. I had a biast thougt.. she is a woman too so perhaps this is best for the athletic woman! And Yes! Its really relieved the nerve pain! I stopped doing yoga because it was causing more injuries durring the day, but this was great! 💚 Thank you! 🐎🌈

Nicely demonstrated
Lovely guide, through simple and very effective postures, done at nice pace. Reclined Pigeon Pose, I find that holding my thigh instead of the front of the calf is easier on my knee, since there is less pressure on the hip. ( Just my experience after 40 years of practice and OA) also keeping the chin and forehead on the same plane is better for the cervical spine. Thank you for a super video, very inspiring, keep up the great work....
