DIY Monogram Towels 2 Easy Ways ✂️ Brother PE800 Embroidery Machine | SEWING REPORT

- Making custom monogram towels 2 ways - this is a quick DIY project and perfect gift idea for the holidays, housewarming, or other special occasion. I've been experimenting with the Brother PE800 embroidery machine and many different types of stabilizer. The 1st method involves hooping kitchen towels using tearaway stabilizer and water soluble topper, while the 2nd is for thicker fabric or anything that's challenging to hoop or materials like velvet, leather, or vinyl - no hooping - wash away stabilizer, temporary adhesive spray, and water soluble topper.
To protect the hoop, I cover it with painters' tape while I spray the temporary adhesive and use a Trader Joe's paper bag with the top part cut out as a makeshift "spray booth." It's been working quite well as long as I spray directly overhead. If you spray from the side, the hoop will get over spray on it and a sticky residue.
If you're interested in a video just talking specifically about stabilizer options for machine embroidery, let me know in the comments as it's something I'm considering.

If you’re interested in a video specifically talking about stabilizers, let me know!
Yes please! I'm very new to machine embroidery world. I like how you are recording videos about this machine.
Yes, stabilizers would be helpful. Thanks.
Yes, please. I was hoping to see the back of the first towel you stitched because of the stabilizer. I'm experimenting right now, but haven't used tearaway on the back because I don't know how ugly it'll be. I'm also curious about using more than one layer of water soluble on top.
You made the hooping vs non-hooping (floating?) very clear. Thank you. And thanks for the tip about quilting pins for basting.
Yes, please. I just got Brother PE 800 a week ago.
I'm interested in it, I'm new to embroidery and I have this machine. I want to learn how to do everything the right way.
Bought this machine as soon as you shared it ! Try using the smallest size spool cap for your set of thread (I bought all the same supplies you have ) I’m noticing the bigger cap on a smaller sized spool of thread is causing problems . Switching helped a lot ! Having the cap be close to the spool size I’m noticing is key ☺️
Even the smallest cap it came from gave me issues with that one spool of silver, but I did remove a bit of excess plastic and that seems to have helped.
I would LOVE a video on stabilizers ... there are so many and so confusing on what to use ...:O)
Once we move I'm going to do one...
Thank you for your time on this video God bless.
You are too awesome! Im learning a ton with your vids
Thank you! Embroidery is a lot more fun than I ever envisioned.
That is so mesmerizing to watch it saw!😍
I love watching the designs stitch out, too!
Great instructions! Leave off the spool cap, no more catching.
Awesome video. Si I see you didn't do a knock down
HI Jennifer. Can you make a video on the steps to follow when we download fonts from Etsy. Sho me varios styles. Meaning using the presentations from the vendor. I recently purshased one of those and still new to work it out using my Brother PE 800.. I enjoy you videos and look forward for more. Have a Bless Day.

This is absolutely amazing. Love your video. I’ve never done this before I don’t have a machine... I have never sew 🧵 before ... did this take a few minutes to embroider these amazing towels? Wow incredible mam.... what do I need to get started what exactly should I buy to embroider a towel like this ...I see you have links in description can you just give me some insight to starting a complete novice should I read any books or do anything to start?
I am no good at computer at all, so I don’t know how to program the pe800😂. Do you have a class for people to learn the computer.
d
How did you figure out what tension you should set your machine on?
Love it
Thank You very much for this video! I would like to try it myself. I need your advice on what kind of paper do you print monogrammed design file? Thank You in advance.
Hi Jennifer I am a subscriber to your channel and I think you are really good at instructing, to the point and with lots of advice. I have tried embroidering on towels, a bit fluffier than the one in the video, but the towel shows through the thread in places. I have a innovis pe 870 can you help? Many thanks.
Any cheap Beginner embroidery machines you recommend?
Hi Jennifer, thanks for th great review. I haven't had the tangle issue with the Sulky spools yet. But there is a blurb about using the thread spool insert on the mini king spools in the guide. It's the small grey thing. Has that helped any?
Hi Jennifer
Is there any way to use the stabilizers more economically? It just seems that a lot is wasted as it has to fill the whole hoop, even if it just for a small monogram.
My machine is arriving tomorrow with the thread and stabilizer pack. I am SOOOO excited, can’t wait.
Your videos have got me raring to go. Love the embellishment ones 😍
If I'm using a larger hoop (5x7) and the design is smaller, I will try and salvage some stabilizer to use for the smaller 4x4 or oval hoops. You do need excess stabilizer on each side of the hoop, so sometimes it's not always possible to reuse as much as you'd like.
Sewing Report thanks Jennifer. I thought that might be the case. My machine was delayed and has just been delivered 😝
Jennifer what was the model of this machine? Thank you for sharing.
Contemplating on buying an embroidery machine, but over $1200 is a lot!!!! Whew! Im praying about it, bc there's money to be made. 😅
Singer Legacy SE300 is on sale right now!!
Wow!
Im having huge tension issues!!! Any recomendation?
I love that font, but, I cannot find it on etsy. Do you know who the seller was or if it's still available?
Hi, Jen! Do you have a link for the ruler and marker you use in this video? Thanks 😊

Air Soluble Marker: amzn.to/2Fy302Z
Ok, so I’m super new to this... like haven’t even turned my machine on so forgive my ignorance but what is the benefit of doing the towels one way or the other?
Congrats on getting a machine! I have an unboxing video that goes over more general things about the Brother PE800. One way isn't necessarily better than the other, but some fabrics may be too thick or leave "hoop burn marks" to hoop so you can "float" the item instead using sticky stabilizer - whether it's a sticky peel type or like I did just sprayed with temporary adhesive.
I want to go full time on a business I do crochet right now and have an Etsy website but I would like to add to it. I was thinking to expand either do embroidery or printing . Any suggestions please I need help deciding thanks
Nice
