I appreciate this tutorial so much! I visit it frequently each time I use my Brother PE 800. Can’t sew on a regular machine to save my life and you’ve made this super easy to follow along! Thanks so much! Blessings!
Thank you so much. Followed step by step and made my first embroidery . Tension looked great the name look great front and back. I’m proud. Thank you again.
Thank you so much for the intro on the PE800. I was a little intimidated by it. I have been sewing for 40 years but have never used an embroidery machine. So thank you for explaining how to use it!
Thanks! Glad it was helpful! Yes I have several using my PE770 which is just an older model of the PE800. Also be sure to join my facebook group where we have lots of helpful discussions and there is a Units sections with lots of information and resources. facebook.com/groups/206454390724948/
Thank you so much, I just ordered this machine and it should arrive Monday. This was very helpful. This is my maiden voyage for an embroidery machine. I will be checking out your other videos as I go along.
I just got my PE800 and tried it out. I have no Bobbin Thread showing on that back at all. Tried adjusting tension and it went bad real bad. I did stitch out a pot holder and it stitched great but no Bobbin Thread showed. I don't know what to do. Ugh
thank you SO MUCH for this video. Go through the basics and was going from video to video to show me how to set up! Of course im new and I learned alot!! thank you so much!!

I’ve had my pe800 for quite a while and I order prewound bobbins. I didn’t realize that they are only 60weight. I haven’t had any problems and prewound are the way to go. Such a time saver.
Yes I love prewound bobbins ❤️. The embroidery only machines call for 90wt bobbins but the sewing/embroidery combo machines call for 60wt bobbins so I think either one is good 😁
I just bought mine. And yr video help so much. Just to check when I did the trial I didn’t see any white on the back just black which I use for the design. .
Thank you so much for you video it was great I learned so much !!!!! I was getting lost reading the manual since I'm new to this but I see as I keep prating ill be able to learn everything just like you thank you !!!!!
This video is so helpful! Is there a way to not have thread connect the letters? Like in the first name embroidery how purple thread connects K to A and A to R and etc
On the PE800, it does not cut jump stitches, so anytime the machine jumps to a new place, you will have to cut those jump stitches when you are done embroidering. One option to make the machine cut it for you is to tell it that each letter is a different color. Then it will cut and stop stitching after each letter. Then you can just keep the same color thread on your spool and hit start again to finishing stitching your whole name.
Make sure you have the bobbin installed in the counter clockwise direction and that you pull about 12 inches through the thread path to make sure the tension is set right.
Thank you - wish you were my neighbor!! I have been watching so many others and your video is the only one that TRULY went step by step. Do you explain in a video how to use the "topper" stabilizer that I have seen others comment about but not demonstrate? My son is gettig ready to go to college and I wanted to embroider his initial on his towels - do you have a video on embroidering towels as again I saw and read how using the under stabilizer and topper is important. Thank you.
Thank you so much Carol!! If you watch my how to embroidery a baby blanket video, I go through the steps of what stabilizer to use, how to float the blanket on top of the hoop, and how to add topper. I would use the same exact steps to do a towel. I hope this helps!
thank u sooo much for making and sharing this video. it was very detailed and organized. for a new embroidery business owner, it is always great to have visuals such as this to refer back to when i have messups..thank u and i have subscribed
Usually for embroidery, I do not mess with the tension and keep it at factory settings. If you stitching is not coming out great, it is probably because you do not have the right stabilizer. For sweatshirts I like to use a fusible poly mesh cut away along with an additional layer of tear away. Here is a video of stitching a sweat shirt that you can check out. ruclips.net/video/a-Fp6tEg90Q/видео.html
Floating is when you only hoop stabilizer and then use spray adhesive or sticky stabilizer to attach the item/ garment ontop. I sometime use pins or masking tape to make sure my item doesn't move while stitching. A basting stitch can also be very helpful, especially with a dense fill stitch design.
I just got my machine and I can't thank you enough for this video! I'm following it carefully! 2 questions...why do you use a thread stand and I have little nieces in Nola and want to know if you have more Nola types of ideas and designs videos? Love your channel!
I'm so glad you like the video Lori! I personally like using the thread stand because I find there are less threading, breaks, and tension problems when I use it. Yes there are lots of NOLA designs and projects you can do. Check out my How to applique video to see a Mardi Gras design. Also in my How to hoop and embroider a onesie video, I use a Cafe du Monde design.
@@KarlieBelle my 1st test came out ok but I don't see white down the middle if my letters. What should the tension be and is there a guide for tension for different fabrics?
great job doing the unboxing,I got the Inovis 3 and still have bits I don't know how to use, thank you Karlie,, I'm very interested on the Embrilliance program you use,
Thank you so much. Embrilliance Essentials is the program I use and it is awesome. They actually just released a coupon code for 10% off until Sept 14. Use code LDW2020 www.embrilliance.com/jamaffiliates/karliebelle
I understand she prefers a separate thread stand. For demoing a first time use of the machine ; she really should wind the bobbin as Brother says to do. The same goes for threading the machine. That’s why there is a manual. Also she didn’t really show the little bag of what looked spool caps. She just kinda brushed it aside. Also you can buy this machine with extra bundles which dictates the price of the purchase. I just bought the PE 800z. It came with two packs of pre wound bobbins in black and white , white bobbin thread, a pack of basic colors embroidery thread, also i received three gift cards each for $100 of designs purchases. It also came with a large mat to use under the machine, Stitch Express software and one hoop, several types of stabilizers, needles and accessories pouch and machine cover . So as you can see there are various package deals for this machine. I got the delux package. But even the machine without the materials you will need to get has gone up now in price. You can’t buy this for less than $800 now. Mine machine and bundle was $829.
Have you replaced the needle lately? You may not have it pushed up all the way so that it can thread properly. Also play with trying when the presser foot is in both the up and down position
Hi Karlie, when i thread my bobbin it actually ended up getting caught in the bottom... how can I fix this?? Rookie mistake, its a whole lot caught in the bottom of that pole thing you place the bobbin on...
Take it out and clean the bobbin area really good with a lint brush. Then re-install the bobbin with the thread going counter clockwise. Pull about 12 inches of the bobbin thread through the thread path before cutting it. Hopefully this will help!
When you upload your own fonts, do you have to do anything special to them (digitize, etc) or can you upload a png word in a specific font to embroider?
You will need to use embroidery fonts that have been digitized. I purchase a lot of fonts online and use Embrilliance Essentials to create the word or lettering I want with them. Then I save them to a USB stick in PES format, and plug usb into machine and stitch out.
Just started following you thank you for the video I’m keeping an eye on this machine on amazon hoping it will go down more and for prime day 🤓 Question were did you get that design on your shirt? I would love a MS one
I hope you can get a PE800 for a good deal. I know Sewing Machines Plus has them in stock now. I made the design on my shirt myself before I went to his concert 😁
Hi Tonie. The PE800 is an embroidery only machine. However, Brother makes another machine, the SE1900, that has all of the same embroidery features of this machine, but is also a sewing combo machine. You can check it out here --> amzn.to/3kYO5Ai
Most of the designs I do have multiple colors in them. When the design is loaded on the machine, it knows that it needs to stop at each color to allow you time to change the thread :)
Hi Jordan. I will do a 5x7 design in the vertical orientation on 9mth - 3T shirts. Then for 4-6 shirts I will turn the design and make it 7 inches wide and 5 inches tall. Once you get to shirts bigger than 6, I find that the 5x7 hoop is too small.
@@KarlieBelle thank you! Do you think the nq1600e would be a better option for me then? My daughter is already 4 so I’m wanting to get as much use out of whichever machine I choose as I can
Yes the NQ1600E is an excellent machine and is a nice upgrade from the PE800. But just to put a little bug in your ear, if you budget would allow it, I would go for the Persona. It is soooo much easier to hoop things, especially shirts!
Hi! just received my refurbished PE800 from amazon. just like new. i had an embroidery machine before, we were moving so I had to downsize big time! any how I checked you tube and came across the PE800. claims were just terrific. Saw 1 at wal-mart for under 700.00. went home to review if that what it was. went back, gone. so my next alternative was amazon. touch screens are a challenge, but i'll have to get a electronic pencil for mine. question is if i see a design i like; can i set the machine to only do a portion of the frame; or would i have to work the whole design out? ie: a frame with flowers, but i only want that particular flower ,could i go thru the pattern and just thread the machine for the flowers. I'm challenging myself to become more familiar with electronics, ie computers. i been around computers; i would walk by and sap them. and i have callouses on my fingers, nails that interfere, like playing the piano. So this is huge for me. and with this pandemic I have been scrolling for GOOD TUTORS!!! You friend is very fortunate. so I'll be anxious to see your other videos. Thank you again !!!
Hi Irene! Yes you can stitch out just one part of a design. Just use the button that looks like a needle tip with a +/- next to it. Then use the button with a spool to either move ahead (+) or back (-) to go from color step to color step. That what you can just stitch out the parts you want.
I got it from Ken's Sewing Center. I can't find this particular one anymore but they do have a different sewing machine one that is cute. I believe you can also find it on Amazon.
The PE800 does not cut jump stitches. You will need to trim them. Sometimes when I see them happening, I pause my machine by hitting the green button to cut them. Other times I just wait until the design is finished stitching. These are the scissors I use and they work great for getting very close to the fabric amzn.to/2XpIPKN
Both are great machines for beginners! The PE800 has 5x7 hoop but using software like Embrilliance Essentials and using a multi position hoop it can go up to 5x12. The NV870SE looks to be very similar to the NQ1600E which is a nice step up from the PE800. It can go up to a 6x10 hoop, stitches a little faster than the PE800, and it cuts jumps stitches, which I think is an awesome feature. Both are good choices, If the nicer machine is in your budget then get it. If not the PE800 is still a great machine and you can upgrade later once you figure out you love embroidery :)
I haven’t bought any software yet to make my own designs. I am currently playing with the demo version of StitchArtist from Embrilliance to see how I like it. It’s a much lower price point than PE Design. But if you are just starting out with embroidery, I recommend just buying designs from Etsy and other designers first. Digitizing is a whole other ballgame. I would get comfortable with using your machine and making things first.
Christelle Kapinga aww man they were in stock a couple of days ago! Keep watching amazon. Also join my Facebook group cause whenever I find it in stock I post it in the group 😁
The largest regular hoop is 5x7. There is also a 5x12 multi position hoop that I show you how to use in this video --> ruclips.net/video/5q4JIMQyieU/видео.html. You CAN do hats with this machine using a special insert for your hoop called a Brim Board. Here is a live tutorial I did called Sip & Stitch showing how to use it --> ruclips.net/video/GjclVD99PLQ/видео.html
Thank you for this video. I have a question. I have had my PE800 machine ordered from EBay for 2 mos. Still haven't gotten it. Didn't know it was coming from China, so it is stuck in LA at customs. Don't know how long it will take now to be shipped to me! Where did you order your machine from, and do you pay thru PayPal? I'm so anxious to get started! Love your tutorial. Thank you!
I also ordered mine from Amazon. There are other sewing machine sights that sell them but they tend to cost a little bit more than Amazon. Sewing Machines Plus and Ken’s Sewing Center are some examples. If you paid with PayPal and you don’t receive your machine, your should be able to dispute your order and get your money back. Then try ordering from Amazon. The usual price is around $600 but it fluctuates depending on demand.
@@KarlieBelle thank you. I cancelled my machine and reordered from another seller. It came today and can't wait to get started. I just got out of the hospital today and gotten any thread or stabilizers yet, so I'm busy reading the manual and other paperwork. Thank you for replying! Love your tutorial . I'll have it on when I get my machine unboxed!
Hi Carol! Below each video is something called a description box that has links to everything I use in my videos. Under the title it only shows the first few sentences and you have to click SHOW MORE if you are on your computer. If you are on your phone there is a little arrow pointing down that you have to click. Once you do that the description box will expand down so that you can see everything. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
Good morning. Just found your channel, and have gotten a lot of Information from you. Thanks. Am looking for blank shirts to embroider for babies, and hope you can give me some advice on where to purchase. My grandchildren are getting too big for the onesies, but I can’t find just plain colored shirts to embroider for them. Any advice? Again, thanks for your tutorials. I am learning a lot.
Thank you Linda! I sometimes buy plain toddler t-shirts from Walmart, but they are on the thin side and need to be stabilized well in order for them to turn out good. Higher quality blank shirts can be ordered online from Blanks Boutique, ARB Blanks, and AJ Blanks.

Usually for embroidery, I do not mess with the tension and keep it at factory settings. If you stitching is not coming out great, it is probably because you do not have the right stabilizer. For sweatshirts I like to use a fusible poly mesh cut away along with an additional layer of tear away. Does this machine tell you when to change colors
Can you explain floating? Does this machine do a basting stitch around edge to float?
Floating is when you only hoop stabilizer and then use spray adhesive or sticky stabilizer to attach the item/ garment ontop. I sometime use pins or masking tape to make sure my item doesn't move while stitching. A basting stitch can also be very helpful, especially with a dense fill stitch design.

Great tutorial! Thank you so much for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing... where did you get your flash drive?
I got it from Ken's Sewing Center. I can't find this particular one anymore but they do have a different sewing machine one that is cute. I believe you can also find it on Amazon.
What do you think of pre-wound bobbins
I recently switched to them last year and I LOVE them! I will never wind a bobbin again LOL
@@KarlieBelle Thank you. Time vs $$$
My machine is not cutting the jump stitches after the lock stitch. Did I push a wrong button or what?
The PE800 does not cut jump stitches. You will need to trim them. Sometimes when I see them happening, I pause my machine by hitting the green button to cut them. Other times I just wait until the design is finished stitching. These are the scissors I use and they work great for getting very close to the fabric amzn.to/2XpIPKN
i am between the pe800 or the innovis nv870se, what would you recommend for a beginner?
Karlie Belle thank you so much for you help think its the innovis i will go for
Might be a dumb question, but what is the point to a bobber?
Do you mean to say a bobbin? The bobbin thread helps to hold the top thread in place and for embroidery is only shown on the bottom of a design.
Thank you so much!!
What about the digital software to make your own designs? Did you purchase the PE 10 or 11 software?
I haven’t bought any software yet to make my own designs. I am currently playing with the demo version of StitchArtist from Embrilliance to see how I like it. It’s a much lower price point than PE Design. But if you are just starting out with embroidery, I recommend just buying designs from Etsy and other designers first. Digitizing is a whole other ballgame. I would get comfortable with using your machine and making things first.
@@KarlieBelle good to know
Thank you so much. Your video have a lots of detail and very helpful.
Thank you!!
@@KarlieBelle Hi !am I want to buy the PE 800 Machine but there is nothing on Amazon. Any help where I can buy one new??
Christelle Kapinga aww man they were in stock a couple of days ago! Keep watching amazon. Also join my Facebook group cause whenever I find it in stock I post it in the group 😁

How large of a hoop can you use on this machine? and have you ever tried doing hats on it?
Thank you!
I purchased my PE800 through Amazon, sold by Brother. It only took three days to have delivered to me.
You are amazing thank you ❤

Where is the link below
@@KarlieBelle Thanks. Will. Hey these out now.
Sorry idk I’m just an idiot but what about step 6 16:48

I cannot thread the needle on my PE800, have watch 2 videos
It is possible that your needle threader is bent. Look for a video specific on how to fix this and hopefully that will help.
👍🏽
Thanks!
Super GREAT Tutorial!! thanks a ton for making it extremely beginner friendly and taking your time! New subbie hoping to learn lots more!
Glad it was helpful! Thank you so much!
Thank you for this video!!
what is the difference between the brother f440e embroidery machine and brother pe 800 embroidery machine?
Nothing. The f440e is the UK version of the US's PE800.
