    I have absolutely zero intentions of doing anything embroidery related anytime soon. Or anytime in the far off distant future for that matter. I just taught myself (with the help of someone's vids) how to use a sewing machine last week and just hemmed my first pair of pants a few days ago, for cryin out loud. Yet, I watched every single one of the 1,514 seconds of this video. That's what I call captivating your audience, well done sir. Respect!!!

    Oh, Lawd, now I have to figure out how to sneak an embroidery machine into the house without my husband noticing...I wasn't really too interested, but this is inspiring:)

    • @TockCustom

      lol, just throw a blanket over it and tell him it's a surprise for him... and then never give him anything! It's a brilliant strategy :)

      Isn’t it ironic that hubby does not notice you have had haircut, cleaned house etc but try to sneak one thing in the house and he is a detective sniffing it out. Lol.

    This is the best beginner video ever! I love how you don't talk too fast and you speak clearly and loud enough for the mic to pick you up. Also like that you have yourself facing us in the camera, so we can actually see who is teaching! I have spent all day watching videos on how to do this just like you're showing, and literally, you are the only one who actually finishes the project! I mean all the way to cutting it out! I am subscribing!! Thank you so much!!

      Eeeeeeeeeeeeed! For God's sake, take a class in presentation. Oh, yes, and drop "you guys." You aren't in the ghetto you know.

      Not YOU, I'm just agreeing your vid is great and saying what I wish ppl wouldn't do. So many ppl picked up very poor speech patterns, along w not having a clue as to how to do a presentation.
      Thank you for giving your presentation some thought as opposed to rolling out of bed, apologizing for not being ready, telling us about your recent illness, apologizing for your camera not working, or droning on about your kids.😥

    Sometimes the Thread wraps around the spoil itself, But it can be avoided by placing the felt first and then the spool. The thread will not break. Flawless!

    • @TockCustom
      @TockCustom  4 года назад

      That's a great idea. Typically the felt is used for when you do "Double Needle" stitching, which is fairly advanced, but if you can get it work on embroidery that's a huge bonus :)

    Thank you for your efforts. One good tip to make border cleanup or residue less noticeable, is to use a base fabric of the same color as the border. You could also use acrylic paint in the same color as the border mixed with fabric paint applied to the edges after cutting to help not only to hide residue, but to seal edges. Liquid sealants could also help.😊 Thumb's up too.

    This is the best video I have seen yet! Thank you for your clear instructions. I have a question. When Ironing the patches, can a heat press be used? If yes, at what temp/time? Thanks

    • @TockCustom
      @TockCustom  3 года назад +2

      Thank you so much! You can absolutely use a heat press for setting patches - if you're using denim or any cotton fabrics - set your press to 400F (or 205C). Some synthetic embroidery threads may melt at that temp, so if that's too high, you can step down to around 350F. Always do testing before risking ruining a good garment or project 😀

    This is an amazing video...You are very good at explaining how to do things. If you don’t mind me asking. how did you get your start at sewing and embroidering ?? What made you want to learn how to do all this? You’re very good. I wish they still taught sewing in school like they did when I was in school...they still may at some schools but around my area they don’t anymore. I think it’s something everyone should learn even if they don’t want to sew things on their own. The knowledge is a great resource to have.

    Dude!! You are my new favorite YT thing, fer SHURR!! I NEEDS MUST deck out my machines in stickers now. (Why didn't i think of this before?! I do it with all of my laptops!!)
    Why, OH WHY, did you not protect your iron from the excess fusible webbing??!! I almost CRIED when I saw that 😢 I keep a basket of woven fabric scraps near the board for JUST THIS REASON.

    Thank you! A couple of questions for you...Between the SE 400 and the PE-770, what are the advantages of changing up to the PE-770, other than the larger 5 x 7 hoop size? Is the quality of the embroidering better, faster? I see both machines use the cards, which I like, and they also both have usb ports for importing designs...does the PE 770 take bigger files and/or more files? Also, which video that you have made shows how to sew the patches onto cloth? I love your videos. So informative and you explain everything so clearly!

    • @TockCustom
      @TockCustom  4 года назад +4

      The advantages of the embroidery functions of the PE-770 or 800 are the reliability (less thread snaps, and stoppage), higher stitches per minute, can read from USB drives, hoop size is a big deal, and the overall finish and quality of the finished result is clearly more polished than the SE-400.
      Both great machines, but this is the best valued intermediate sized embroidery machine I've come across period.

    Though the part where you put the iron directly onto the permanent heat-seal film gave me a slight anxiety attack xD. This machine can only embroider. It can make patches that are 5x7 inches, but you'll have to use another sewing machine to sew it on. For varsity style 'patches', most people cut those shapes out of felt or wool and applique' them on... perhaps I should make a video about that... Thanks for the idea!

    You can do so much more with the PE800 it is like a totally different machine. You can ever see in the design where the machine is currently stitching. The PE770 is an antique. I sold mine and got the PE800.

    • @TockCustom
      @TockCustom  4 года назад

      I'm certain that you can do more with the PE-800. Sounds like you're very happy with it. I wouldn't say the 770 is an 'antique' because it can still do a great job, but I appreciate your position on being very satisfied with the newer model.

    • @jorgerobles628
      @jorgerobles628 2 месяца назад

      I did the opposite, I sold my 800 and just got the 770 and it may be antique, but is way more convenient than the 800 coz it can use both USB Memory sticks AND Older Brother Memory Cards, of which I have lots, and the 800 can not do that, and I don't care too much to check were the stitch is unless when I get back and see the thread is broken, I just do as Tock showed here and fix the problem, and so far I have not gotten any single problem or issue with this machine.

    Do you always use an embroidery bobbin thread? I use the same color bobbin thread as my top thread due to the fact that I can sometimes see the bobbin thread coming thru to the right side of the fabric in the embroidered area. I am definetly a novice when it comes to embroidering. Granted my machine is older. It's the Brother SE 350. I have had it for quite a few years. I try to keep it clean and use new embroidery needles when beginning a new project. It's also set up to embroidery only.

    • @TockCustom

      I usually make the border with a wider satin stitch to cover this. Sometimes the software doesn't do a good job of knowing how thick the thread is, so I thicker edge can help fill that gap 😀
