Low tier Japanese tanks were, in real life, meant to fight on small islands and the main opposition was the Chinese who didn't have much when it came to tanks either. So they get outclassed by everyone else that actually produced component tanks.
I just spaded 1.0 french after armor update, and the number 1 tank here is so so bad, I'd definitely take #2 as I had a match with 4 kills due to braindead enemy, but couldn't pen with amr
@@xXYourShadowDaniXx Guys I grinded the camos for the Tier 1 french tonks :'^) I honestly think those two are not the worst this tree has to offer, but mostly because I tried my best to make them work... and they kinda do... If you don't expect miracles. The AMC.34 YR might have a pitiful pen, but it carries 50g of TNT with only 6mm of armor needed to trigger the fuse. Between this and the fairly decent MAC 31 (bleh pen but amazing rate of fire and 150 rounds belts) standard on every french tank, the AMC.34 is actually pretty good at taking down armored cars, truck SPAA and open-topped tank destroyers (not the AMD 35 and that swedish recoilless boomstick tho, those things are tougher than they look like) The FCM 36 has a pitiful gun and moves dreadfully slow, but it's still more mobile than half the tanks in the tree, and at least it has decent angling on all that useless armor. Everybody else gets future ammo that pens you from the front np, but at least you can abuse your 17° of depression and take a comfy hull down position where you're basically immune to T1 shots unless point-blanked or shot at with a large caliber HE. It's not gonna get you kills, but you might knock a gunner or driver out and get an assist while you're bouncing shells from 2-3 opponents who could be shooting more valuable targets (like someone with less armor and a real gun... pretty much anyone). I feel the FCM 36 is just more recognizable so it's the pick you often see mentionned, but the H35 is just plain worse IMO, having worse armor, slopes and gun depression. I think the one I hate the most is the AMC.35. The S35 and D2 are passable, but the AMC.35 just explodes the moment you try to get into a fight. Can't even just stick out your 34mm sloped turret like with the AMC.34, noooo, you get a nice 25mm flat front turret plate :'^/
It wasn't really THAT bad, since before they "updated" the penetration... French reserves were able to pen low tiers reliably, also they were "heavily armored", with H35 being a 1.0 version of a heavy tank as compared to their enemies, they were survivable, and pack some punch... Generally only the the German Pz II can reliably pen you and at close range at that or tank destroyers, and you can laugh at the Japanese reserve vehicles trying to kill you.. french tree only went into sh*ts after they change the penetration calculations to the current one we see in game
The Ro Go in my opinion has a special derpy charm, and one can be effective with it if they adjust to the guns but honestly the armor will only save you from 50 cals and everything else can cut through, especially Sweden for obvious reasons. And hey at least its flat plate is thicker than the door of a plate on the I Go Ko
The Ro-Go is a meme machine capable of raining shots behind cover like an absolute hacker provided you can triangulate where the shots fall. The main gun's HEAT is actually quite powerful with 80mm pen, and the secondary 37mm helps in fighting against weaker opponent. It's slow and lumbering, but a total steamroller if used correctly.

the panhard armored car is basicly the best tier 1 french tank playing that is your best bet might even wanna put a talisman on that since that shouldnt cost much anyway but it doesnt get good backup you can stay at 1.0 and take the h39 fcm 36 or td or you go to 1.3 and take the s35 plus d2 or acm depending on what you like more

Dude I was a German main for the longest time and got bored with it so I decided to go with France because frankly I like the design on the B1s (especially their tracks). It took me a whole week just to get the B1 Bis and it was pure suffering until I got the M4A3 105.
It took me like 10 hours to get it and when I did I was OP since no one was able to pen me, once I was on the map with a big open space that I went in and my tracks got shot out, I thought I was gonna die but I ended up surviving the full game there and I ended up using all my shells so in the end I just stayed there and did nothing while the enemies circled me and tried to pen me
Here's one thing though... These tanks weren't always THIS bad, they were quite reliable until Gaijin decides to "update" the calculations for penetration to what we see today... It's when things went to literal shi†s for these vehicles...
@@killerbug05 not really,.the ha go in real life was able to pen around 46 mm, as historically it could easily pen the M3 Stuart from the front at 500 meters, now it can't do that. The new formula took almost 25% of its real penetration, that's ridiculous. Before, it was decent enough to kill with it better than the chi ha and the I-go

The FCM has recently become one of, if not my favourite tank. It isn't as bad as it was when this video came out. I cant count how many times tank rounds failed to penetrate or just ricocheted of of my front and my gun does penetrate vehicles (BT's are my favourite tanks to target, one shot on the side under the turret and you got a kill)
Anyone remember when for one update the HE on the T-26-4 was fucking op? They buffed it's pen to something ridiculous like 30 mm or so and it stomped. Then they nerfed it again
@@Tankenstein I never managed to finish upgrading it so I don't have much experience with it. It is useless, but still better than some others as you can do some damage to aircraft and open top SP. On the BR1, the .50 works pretty well, at least at close range. And it has speed.
God I dont have any fond memories of grinding with that pyramid headed thing when the french tree first launched. I mean, it was marginally usable before the balistics update but when you have Stuarts running amok, the thing feels like molasses
I've been playing French tanks exclusively for the past couple of weeks. It has been brutal to say the least. The worst part is how most of the low tier French tanks struggle to move in a straight line even on flat terrain. You start praying to spawn on high ground because going down-hill is the only way you can traverse terrain. I found myself on multiple occasions just whimpering and begging in my head that someone would tow me to the front lines. I couldn't even begin to count how many times I would get passed by people spawning their 2nd tank before I even got up to any kind of action with my first spawn. Don't start the French tank grind unless you're a complete masochist.
Surprised you didn’t include the I Go Ko. It’s quite terrible. The HaGo used to be a lot better; it had something like 50mm of one before the new pen calculator nerfed it into the ground. Gaijin could easily fix it by giving it the mid war shell used by the KaMi but they don’t care about older vehicles. The H35 should also have been on your list. Just awful. The Independent is terrible, both for its performance and it’s high price tag. But low tier is so completely unbalanced now with the 20mms and the Swedish APDS that even with buffs none of these vehicles could ever be effective.

Bro... I got killed by it at BR 4.0 The l3/33 is so unbelievably tiny that it hides behind the smallest obstacles, and in flat places like Cargo port with tons of corners, it can be a deadly surprise when it sneaks in below your turret depression or zooms around faster than your traverse.
Simple, the L3/33 is an excellent vehicle, It has a fast firing APHE, is quite mobile, has 15 degrees of gun depression, and is the smallest tank in the game, at point blank, they may not be able to depress the gun low enough to hit, bush it up and its invisible
I always wondered why Gaijin decided to put the AMC 34 YR as the first vehicle to the French tree instead of the AMR 35 with either a 13.2mm MG (same as the one on the AA vehicle) or a 25mm gun. I loved the AMC .34 it was a hilarious tank. I would only ever go for flank shots with it, and almost none of then would pen. but one time a BT 5 jumped a small hill in front of my gun and I 1 shot him in the under belly armor
T 26 with the bigger cannon is actualky very good for me at least. Cuz in my old tank games I played dero guns with low velocity so am used to it already

on the topic of the french 37mm guns they were never made for fighting tanks at all they were low velocity HE guns meant for knocking out german machinegun nests in WWl that originated as a crew served tripod mounted version
the first vehicle i unlocked from a crate was the FCM.36... i never played it in all of my time grinding the french tree (only up to the ARL44-ACL-1 because i went broke)

I don't understand why no one says Italian T1 tanks are bad. I have NEVER hated using tanks more than the T1 Italian tanks. Their paper armor, horrid speed, terrible penetration, I just can't stand them.
Gajin be like - let's take this infantry support vehicle with field cannon/howitzer that was never meant to fight enemy tanks on it's own and does not even have decent AP shells and put them to fight against enemy tanks.

I started on the fcm 36 and amc 34 years ago, france was my first warthunder nation and still is my primary played nation, and yeah those 2 are really bad, the h-39 both premium and non premium are actually really good and ive found myself topping matches in that little bastard
I have had amazing games with the T 26-4 and the ha go (even after its nerfs) I would easily replace them with the British MK VII light AA and the French H35, it's like a FCM 36, but with lighter armour, even if faster its way weaker, the H39 is pretty decent tho, when angled it bounces a lot of shit
The R.35 (SA38) should be on this list. It somehow combines insuficient armor, awful gun and small crew with terrible speed, horrid turning and shitty turret rotation.
For mw, the Ke-Ni is doing good. Killed a StuH-42 once, after he spawncamped my Ho-I. My worst T1 experience is with the Tetrarch. I hate that thing with a burning passion. Edit.1: This was written before watching the video, will edit-in my opinions on the video. Edit.2: To stress how bad my Tetrarch experience was, I have avoided Britain like the plague... and I have every French T1 Vehicle! Edit.3: The AMC? Ye, I can see why.
Tetrach is amazing in arcade assault for a reserve tank. very nimble and decently accurate. The at13 mk1 is atrocious though, that shell might as well be a rifle bullet in a smooth bore barrel, it goes anywhere except where you aim even with upgrades
The T-26-4 have very good post pen and the only tank you have very big problems with are the Pz-ll which is unfortunately a regular pick after Phly daily told everyone how op it is.
@@colinrussell2857 you are right but new players and some people didn't know about Pz ll, making the game at that tanks br much more balanced. I used to get 8 kill games with the T-26-4 It was usually a granted a kill in one shot unless you were fighting french who were balanced by the fact they have bad guns.
Still most german new players would stick with the pz 2. When I didn't watch youtube I noticed they were really good. You're just getting unlucky with your matches with a subpar tank
L3/33 CC is honestly one of the worst tanks that there are in tier 1. My experience with it was so bad every moment I was using it I wanted to die. It cant pen. It has paper armour. Its really bad
I ussually have a difficult time killing the wierd thumbnail tank because hes so fucking big and u have to shoot everywhere to kill it although it couldnt pen me with anything it could throw at me

I have french 11.0 and i enjoyed it very much
The grind to the b1 was painful, at least the h39 was there and made it far more bearable
once killed a marder1a3 at 7.3 with the reserve I-ko-go with the 21mm aphe from point-blank from behind

The l3/33 is so unbelievably tiny that it hides behind the smallest obstacles, and in flat places like Cargo port with tons of corners, it can be a deadly surprise when it sneaks in below your turret depression or zooms around faster than your traverse.
Simple, the L3/33 is an excellent vehicle, It has a fast firing APHE, is quite mobile, has 15 degrees of gun depression, and is the smallest tank in the game, at point blank, they may not be able to depress the gun low enough to hit, bush it up and its invisible

I always wondered why Gaijin decided to put the AMC 34 YR as the first vehicle to the French tree instead of the AMR 35 with either a 13.2mm MG (same as the one on the AA vehicle) or a 25mm gun.
And even though they want to put it, why THIS variant and not the one with the 2-men crew ACG 1 turret armed with a 25mm gun ?

I loved the AMC .34 it was a hilarious tank. I would only ever go for flank shots with it, and almost none of then would pen. but one time a BT 5 jumped a small hill in front of my gun and I 1 shot him in the under belly armor
T 26 with the bigger cannon is actualky very good for me at least. Cuz in my old tank games I played dero guns with low velocity so am used to it already

I don't understand why no one says Italian T1 tanks are bad. I have NEVER hated using tanks more than the T1 Italian tanks. Their paper armor, horrid speed, terrible penetration, I just can't stand them.
And those cannons...are really too bad,i think medieval cannons would be better on some tanks on this list!:)

@@tastethecock5203 wrong! According to that logic, there shouldn't be hard difficulty settings in video games bc there's easy mode. I play with those shitty vehicles sometimes bc I enjoy the challenge. More vehicles = better. Also you're not forced to play with them, you can avoid them entirely.
The funny part about FMC 36 is that its ok at close range with dealing with light armor

I started on the fcm 36 and amc 34 years ago, france was my first warthunder nation and still is my primary played nation, and yeah those 2 are really bad, the h-39 both premium and non premium are actually really good and ive found myself topping matches in that little bastard

The ro-go is godly! I held off 7 tanks in a 1.7 match and killed 5 of them before I was slapped by a pizza boy!
Also I love these tanks you call the worse! None of them are bad just need skill to play but definitely no great for new players
I have had amazing games with the T 26-4 and the ha go (even after its nerfs) I would easily replace them with the British MK VII light AA and the French H35, it's like a FCM 36, but with lighter armour, even if faster its way weaker, the H39 is pretty decent tho, when angled it bounces a lot of shit
I'm completely new to war thunder (5 hours played) and glad to see none of the British tanks are here

Here I thought british T1 sucked, dying in 1 shot to everything is balls, but atleast my gun can kill an enemy after about 3-4 shots.
For mw, the Ke-Ni is doing good. Killed a StuH-42 once, after he spawncamped my Ho-I.
My worst T1 experience is with the Tetrarch. I hate that thing with a burning passion.

Edit.2: To stress how bad my Tetrarch experience was, I have avoided Britain like the plague... and I have every French T1 Vehicle!

Tetrach is amazing in arcade assault for a reserve tank. very nimble and decently accurate.
The at13 mk1 is atrocious though, that shell might as well be a rifle bullet in a smooth bore barrel, it goes anywhere except where you aim even with upgrades
The T-26-4 have very good post pen and the only tank you have very big problems with are the Pz-ll which is unfortunately a regular pick after Phly daily told everyone how op it is.

@@colinrussell2857 you are right but new players and some people didn't know about Pz ll, making the game at that tanks br much more balanced. I used to get 8 kill games with the T-26-4 It was usually a granted a kill in one shot unless you were fighting french who were balanced by the fact they have bad guns.
Still most german new players would stick with the pz 2. When I didn't watch youtube I noticed they were really good. You're just getting unlucky with your matches with a subpar tank

L3/33 CC is honestly one of the worst tanks that there are in tier 1. My experience with it was so bad every moment I was using it I wanted to die. It cant pen. It has paper armour. Its really bad

I'm referring to the reserve tanks, and I agree that the 38t's cannon is good
But caliber doesn't matter that much, it only affects damage. The American 37mm is the same caliber but has much more penetration.

I enjoy seeing thoughts. I do use both Japanese tanks at times the heavy and light tank.
I personally despise the R.35, because although it has good gun, 13 mph and horrendous maneuverability (in Arcade) is just terrible
