This is the dead cleaned up and sober and firing on all cylinders. I can finally embrace the music. Thanks Grateful Shred. You have brought these great tunes back to life!
I never thought of that but it makes sense. After a certain year in the 80's The GF just sounded horrible, not sure the ressons, but maintenance was probably non existent, either way thank you for giving this song clarity and a very Nice sound!!
@@jclar7210 "After a certain year in the 80's The GF just sounded horrible, not sure the ressons" -- The main reasons are alcohol, drugs, and exhaustion. They toured almost non-stop to keep the whole machine going, and they didn't take very good care of themselves... particularly Lesh and Garcia.
The guy playing the strat upside down is an unbelievable guitarist. I'm guessing he learned that way and has stuck with it since? All of these guys are killer musicians. Unbelievable talent!!
I've watched this set like a dozen times over the last couple of years, and it's just amazing. The original band would be jealous of their polish. Of course, it helps if you're not running on cocaine and heroine, but that's another story. Great job guys, that is an absolutely perfect rendition of a classic hippie jam!
Been watching this clip since it first aired. Just came back to it after a couple of months. DAMN that drummer is holding it down. Also props to the guitarists of course, but Dan Horne on the bass is just killer god damn. Last but not least, dude on the organ is a master. Holy cow i love the Dead and everyone who is keeping the legacy alive. Cheers everybody!!
Remember 3 guitar players! And they all playing different licks-chords. That is very cool. The whole band is great! Plus 3 vocalists that can sing! Play on!
That was awesome. really captured the funkiness of that tune. A real classic. Thanks for sharing. on a side note.. ok, the dude playing the guitar upside down.. I mean playing it "lefty" sure.. but he's playing it upside down ! LOL crazy.
These guys have the goods,no doubt about it. Definitely catching their 2022 Colorado tour. They’ll definitely,be around a long time. The music will never stop !!
I hope you guys are writing original material. This is too good not to go for the next level. And whatever you do, hold on to this drummer, he is like gold!
The band's tone is very smooth, each musician is here plays a solid role and the upside down guitar is a strange plus! Well, well, well, you can never tell. I'm sure Jerry would be delighted!
Glad you like them. Go see them in concert. I stood in front of their stage and not only do they have amazing sound quality as far as mixing goes, their loud as shit! Wonderful show. Go see em!
Not funny at all. I only watched because I thought they were a punk rock dead cover band. Unfortunately they're just another regular Dead cover band, boring.
Jane Norton I agree! And to top things off, their playing is just as vintage as the shirt top. Not bad for a group of talented guys who went even horn when then shirt was manufactured. I'm seeing them this July, 2018. Cant wait!
This is the bomb! These guys are really good. I love the eye on the TV screen in back of them. Somehow that ties everything together and makes my mushroom-windowpane acid peyote pot trip a little more enhanced. That eye really jacked with me for a minute there. BAD EYE!
best cover band out there for sure but those live dead tracks send chills up my spine, jerrys solos and voice and all the backround noices , soinds so good hard to belive they are live
A few thoughts: 1. This is awesome, better than the majority of dead cover bands I’ve seen and I’ve seen a lot. 2. That Squier strat sounds killer! 3. As a guitar player myself I cannot grasp how someone can play it so well upside down - nice job all around! Come to Burlington VT!
Guys, you are amazing! The Dead could've used you! Love your renditions! And your smiles--obviously you're having fun. Don't ever take this stuff too seriously and you'll always enjoy the music.
This song is so badass. I don't care what anyone says, Disco was so awesome, and I will NEVER understand how RAP won. You guys are on FIRE , totally earned my sub'd. SO awesome you all sing and take turns. You guys are all killer musicians and that drummer is GROOVY.
Watching the other ones play the dead's music always makes me appreciate how good the songwriting is. People always have a blast. I'm this song is groovy af.
Old Skool head hear.. by accident ran across your vids .. well done lads ! Well done lads!! I give hope for the future .. u guys ever come to Nashville send me a shout .. 👍
I used to own an Ibanez exactly like the one he's playing. Frankly, that one could be mine - I've never seen another one just like it. A fine instrument in every way - I sold it some years ago because it was just too heavy for me - the heaviest guitar I've ever owned...
Always vastly preferred Jerry on the Guild Starfire or the Fender gator Strat instead of those overpowering Alembic creations; so I'm loving this. P.S. Whoever did the audio engineering/mixing did a top notch job.

M8Lfan I couldn’t agree more man, you nailed it 🎸💀🤙🏻

I know, blows my mind everytime I watch them.
how do u do that :). is it a left handed squire? amazing cool artist :). i see something new everyday on this utubber
@@SanFranciscoFatboy that's how you could do it if you are a righty but this dude is seemingly a lefty using a right handed guitar
Yea so crazy. Really good
Don't care what anyone says, these guys are the best dead cover band out there. Absolutely killer.
Absolutely man. Never heard any others to change my mind.
Agree
I wish they would tour though
Ummm JRAD?

That's the ONLY guy I've ever heard on bass who captures the Phil attitude and feel. Love it!!!

Master disco gem from the Greatful Dead :-) Just love it.

The jams are great and they’re an amazing cover band, the “3 vocalists that can sing” part is very debatable tho.
Love this band ,as good as it can be done it's perfection
Such Quality. Awesome. and you can hear them sing the words too.

The groove those guys have is unreal!
That's a GREAT Shakedown.
i had no idea blake shelton was actually a cool piano player.
HIL ARRRRIOUS
LOL! GOOD ONE! 😊😊🌿🍄🌿🍄
Wooo!
Derek Windell and Jeff Spicolli on lead!
The band's tone is very smooth, each musician is here plays a solid role and the upside down guitar is a strange plus! Well, well, well, you can never tell. I'm sure Jerry would be delighted!
From the swamps of La. I hear Ya!!! Right the fuck on.llll
Wow best cover of shakedown I’ve heard in a while
My new fav band as of 5/18/18 since discovering these vids!
Glad you like them. Go see them in concert. I stood in front of their stage and not only do they have amazing sound quality as far as mixing goes, their loud as shit! Wonderful show. Go see em!
SHRED HEADS! Yeah, Yeah! Yeah! Wonderful jobs guys!
Great band here! I absolutely loved this. Great sense of teamwork and musicianship. Keep it up!
Low key the best shakedown
So sick
Who else thinks it's funny that Grateful Shred have more views that Phil Lesh on our channel?
It's a superb cover nice & clean like a disco ball...
Not funny at all. I only watched because I thought they were a punk rock dead cover band. Unfortunately they're just another regular Dead cover band, boring.
Not fans of Phil and the Family Bland. Nepotism usually doesn't work out well too often. Phil's keyboardist is decent on keys only.
Jam In The Van its hilarious and I get it. Sad, but true. Did they not know there are like 5 other bands doing the same thing?
Yep
This band hold the flame....COME TO THE UK!
I usually click on covers etc not expecting much, but this is incredible!!
Could that Box of Rain shirt be older than the person wearing it? ;-) Seriously, you guys are great!
Most of mine are older than me as well, grateful for heady parents!
lol
Jane Norton I agree! And to top things off, their playing is just as vintage as the shirt top. Not bad for a group of talented guys who went even horn when then shirt was manufactured. I'm seeing them this July, 2018. Cant wait!
Oh my holy S@!t. This is fantastic!
Brilliant and amazing, just fu**ing great!!
This is the bomb! These guys are really good. I love the eye on the TV screen in back of them. Somehow that ties everything together and makes my mushroom-windowpane acid
peyote pot trip a little more enhanced. That eye really jacked with me for a minute there. BAD EYE!
Uhhh..some Motown Music..Great number..You guys Rock !..
Love it love it. One of my favorite songs ever.
Jesus Christ! Lead man is gonna break something and we aren't gonna be able to fix it!
Fuck yeah! Left-handed Jerry!
best cover band out there for sure but those live dead tracks send chills up my spine, jerrys solos and voice and all the backround noices , soinds so good hard to belive they are live
Damn, this is fantastic.
Never really cared much for tribute/ cover bands.., but this is actually awesome 😎
very nice! got my day going with a smile, smile, smile!
Nice cover. Thanks for posting, Jam in the Van .

Man, Mitch from "Dazed and Confused" really got with a dope band! KILLING IT BOYS!
Dick Dale guitar style. We like that. Great band. Cheers and best Regards from Argentina.
My most favorite guitar I've ever owned was a 2001 Squire Mexican lefty!!
Wish I still had it.
Good ole Lee Pardini on keys! 💯❤️☮️
My favorite Dead song 😻 Sounds fantastic!
Guys, you are amazing! The Dead could've used you! Love your renditions! And your smiles--obviously you're having fun. Don't ever take this stuff too seriously and you'll always enjoy the music.

Awesome job guys!
COOL SHIT

Feelin this lead guitarist.
This song is so badass. I don't care what anyone says, Disco was so awesome, and I will NEVER understand how RAP won. You guys are on FIRE , totally earned my sub'd.
SO awesome you all sing and take turns. You guys are all killer musicians and that drummer is GROOVY.
im gonna guess none of these guys has ever seen a dead show...glad to see the appreciation of the dead's playing has tranversed that.
I saw them a year ago
It was a whole lotta fun….came home with omnicrom though lol
I get to enjoy some more the Grateful Dead sound. At least till it is my time to follow Jerry and the Other Ones. I love these boys.
Dude, those guys are the coolest band in all over internet!
Watching the other ones play the dead's music always makes me appreciate how good the songwriting is. People always have a blast. I'm this song is groovy af.
That’s was really fucking good 👍
I've never heard these guys before. That was great!
Great, thanks for sharing
They actually sound tighter than the Dead did back in ´78.
they probably aren't all on heroin
They seem a lot healthier…
I really like these guys! I'm gonna check out their other stuff.
You should play with your amp upside down too, that would be really cool
Agreed.
hmm...if he played the other way, would all the notes be backwards, or right side up?
Only one word for it... awesome
You guys are way better then Shakedown.Street , I hate Shakedown Street. Splinterd Sunlight is awesome too. Thanks guys you rock
Im impressed. You guys are really good.
awesome , love that wahwah ,great groove
Old Skool head hear.. by accident ran across your vids .. well done lads ! Well done lads!! I give hope for the future .. u guys ever come to Nashville send me a shout .. 👍
Unbelievably great band. I'm seeing them tonight in SLC!
They're spectacular! I just became a shred head.
That rhythm guitar got me like.... The 70's.
I used to own an Ibanez exactly like the one he's playing. Frankly, that one could be mine - I've never seen another one just like it. A fine instrument in every way - I sold it some years ago because it was just too heavy for me - the heaviest guitar I've ever owned...
It's an ibanez mc300 i believe
Drummer and the keyboard are high quality as is the rest of the band.
I think it is cute they have 3 guitar players. So kind of Bobby and Jerry to include John and to take Johns feelings into consideration
holy bananas these guys are good
The bassist is amazing!
Cool Jam 🤘🏻😎
Good Stuff ! Thanks Guys
love the woos
Brilliant!!
cant believe it met you guys by varick!!!terry n me live thus jam you threw
Great sound.
Killin it
Decent vocals that don't wreck the song. Thanks!
Always vastly preferred Jerry on the Guild Starfire or the Fender gator Strat instead of those overpowering Alembic creations; so I'm loving this. P.S. Whoever did the audio engineering/mixing did a top notch job.
Now this is really "workingman's Dead"... gotta get on this bus right here!
Nice pocket, fellas, this is fun.
Drummer is worth his weight in gold. Rock solid.
hello Lee Pardini (from Dawes) !
Awesome camerawork at 2:53 going into focus right on the beat
That old Ibanez is cool... [it all is!]
Good band!

Nice Shakedown fellas.
Head,loved it
