I don't normally leave comments that express how i'm emotionally feeling after watching the video but I just couldn't resist this time. It made me think about when I was in high school and this album came out, I played it religiously everyday, learning every lyric and singing along loudly in my room in full blast. It was a perfect album and even at that tender age, I knew it in my heart. The memory of experiencing this band and music has changed from just a kid discovering exciting music to an emotionally resonant and touching life experience. Now, as a new father, I think about if my kids can have a similar type of experience when they get older. The excitement I had, opening the CD up and studying the minimal booklet inside. The ability to go on a journey and listen to an album all the way through and not just listen to "singles". The silliness of singing the wrong lyrics because I heard it wrong and only later realizing what was really said. My eyes tear up to think about the musical landscape now and what the artificial future may bring. I deeply hope that there will be some sort of course adjustment to where we are heading but that's out of my hands. I just want my kids to be able to think back to their childhood and have their own weezer moment like I had. Thanks Weezer.

Blue album was life changing. Back in 94-95 when they were touring for blue, my older sister had tickets, i was so jealous because i was too young to go. So she brought out her cd player to the backyard and we listened to blue together. Great memories!
Having a hard time bc it sounds like they used autotune on the vocals of Brian and Rivers. I don't think they need that, they're great musicians and can sing just fine without it
My dad would play Weezer in the car during long drives and it became one of my favorite albums over the years and I am starting college in the fall and I am still listening to blue album. Thanks Weezer.
So happy when I hear things like this and the impact great music has on other generations... shows how powerful music is! This is such a great album. I enjoyed it back then and still do now and will for years to come! Enjoy!
@@deladonics bass player, thanks. I loved his falsetto on the demos of these songs especially on the Say It Ain’t So demo . You could tell he was having fun.
This is the best live performance recording of these songs ever achieved. Tight and polished performance, with just enough edge that comes from playing in the room together.
I wish that were still his philosophy... Dude went full art on Pinkerton, and because Rolling Stone doesn't know how to appreciate art until it's way too late, we're stuck with Rivers "I'm never going to try to be creative again" Cuomo...
@@mattbrendlen He's given the world enough of pure iconic creativity for a lifetime with just the blue album and pinkerton. I'm personally good with it.
There is something amazing about the Blue album. Despite listening to it over 1,000 times. It still sounds completely fresh and original as the first listen in 1994.
I heard Weezer for the first time a couple of years ago and thought: probably some kind of modern band, well, certainly not earlier than 2015. And when I saw that it was the mid-90s, I was very surprised.
@@FourteenWords-n4l I remember sitting in a crappy apartment and hearing Weezer for the time. It was the Sweater Song on MTV. I dug the song and video, but it wasn't until the Buddy Holly video came out, I was BLOWN AWAY.
@@MilesTippett Brian is the long hair guitar player, Karl is the guy with glasses on the couch who has basically documented the band since before they were Weezer, and Suzy is a producer and musician herself.
Growing up in the mid 1990's my older sister had the first CD player in the household, a Sony portable. She had a small collection of discs including Green day, Metallica, and of course Weezer The Blue Album. Whenever she allowed me to borrow it or I could sneak away with her CD player, The Blue Album was playing 99% of the time. It was such a strong influence on my taste of music, and I still find myself listening through the whole album at least once a month.
It wasn’t in every version of Win 95. I believe from Win95B. Had a buddy in high school who didn’t have it on his disc so I lent mine to him so he could copy the video off it
I always love when the mix separate the instrument because you can put a headphone, close your eyes and imagine yourself in the middle of the band and feel each little detail in the music ...so each time you hear the song, you can focus in any of them ....
The first three albums I ever bought with my own money was back in 1994. I picked up Weezer - Blue Album, Green Day - Dookie and the Offspring - Smash. Seeing what the music industry has become over the last 25 years I’m truly blessed to have grown up with such great music in the 80s and 90s.
@@P715R Yeah I was never a fan. Come Out and Play is the only song I like of theirs and it’s just alright. Damn near every song on that Dookie and Blue Album is great.
One of only a few albums in existence that has not one bit of filler. From the opening to the end each track makes you go ‘yes!’ and you just can’t help but sing along.
I was 9 years old when I bought this album on casette in 1994 and listened to it all the time. Shortly thereafter, I discovered the Buddy Holly video on our brand new Packard Bell. The entire album has been prominent in my lifes soundtrack for 30 years.
Bro, I'm 40. This album means so much to me. It's influenced me musically and, just in general, more than I can ever express. Thank you guys from the bottom of my heart and every ounce of my soul. Shit fucking rules, yo. Also, you guys sounded amazing, here. As always. Much love. Be well.
Went to concert in Orlando on the 20th. Sat next to a 12 year old with his mom on my left. My husband and I did not hold back our rocking. But the way I engaged with this young person over the music and jamming. Singing. This dude knew every single one of your songs. It was magical. Weezer. You made magic. I’ll always remember this concert for just seeing you but also that young guy loving the music right there with us . Some things surpass time. Your talent, Rivers, is that sound.
My daughter and I went to their concert last year and it was one of the BEST I've ever seen!! It was great to share one of my favorite bands with my daughter, who also loves their music. I highly recommend seeing Weezer live if you ever have the chance.
My friend and I wrote a letter (remember letters?) to the address on the cd case asking for the lyrics. Weeks later, we received them. They were handwritten (a copy, or course) and we were “so stoked”! Wish I’d kept them.
Yes! Still have the lyrics, my Weezer fan club card and the signed press kit photo. Glad to be among others that don’t find it odd I’ve held onto these things for 30 years. 😂
The truth is, that song does hit very hard, and even more so, when it is talking about a very bad father, an alcoholic and an abandoner, it hurts a lot when you listen to it and sometimes it makes me sad for Rivers, and, in my case, I suffered. . something similar. I confess that before I hated this song and overlooked it until paying more attention and listening to it several times in a row for a while, it started to make more sense.
I was 9 when it came out and was one of my first favorite albums that wasn't sorta spoon-fed to me by my parents or friends. I saw them do their 20th anniversary show of the Blue Album in Melbourne and it was a dream come true (even though I was a broke backpacker and had to post up outside the fence to watch, lol). To this day, Only In Dreams is my favorite song of all time and getting to see it live was a top-10 memory I'll have for my entire life. Thanks Weezer.
I'm turning 42 this year and this album hits 30. Checks out. This album is ingrained in my bones and blood forever. I still happily listen to it. Pinkerton for when I'm feeling sassy💅
Windows 95 was exactly where I discovered Weezer, I only 6 or 7 years old, no idea what happy days was and literally just thought they were an old band haha.
I was in Best Buy and saw this listening station with the album. Couldn't believe how good it was and bought the CD that day. I've been a fan ever since.
Those were the days. Listening stations and new music playing over the speakers at record stores were how you found great new music. Not endlessly streaming and searching online for something new. ❤
Stole this CD from my older brothers room and listened to it over and over while I mowed endless lawns on an air force base in Louisiana. Thanks boys Edit: (this was 2001 and I was contemplating how to get the girl next door the whole time)
Rewatching, I'm struck by the sincerity when the guys talk about being so grateful to still be making music together. Absolutely love Weezer- the best band ever.
30 years, France, I remember listening to "undone - the sweater song" on the radio ("fun radio" was the name of the radio station), and i was blown away for the rest of my life. I still think this is the coolest song ever recorded. The blue album is in my personnal top ten. I own the vinyl and i still play it as soon as i can.
This was my first concert! Blue album just came out. I was in the 9th grade. At Liberty Lunch in Austin tx..... and Archers of Loaf opened. Fantastic memory
My friends and I created a Blue Album tribute band called “The Blue Album Group” in 2008 and played about 15 of my favorite shows as a musician over the course of 2 years. It was epic. Thanks for the plugs on the website Karl!
I turned 56, today. Thanks for the great present, gents! Unlike my friends, most of whom are stuck in the 80s, insisting there's no more good music, I'm still listening for the next Weezer - and while there are many AMAZING new bands out, I always come back to Weezer, Smashing Pumpkins and Jellyfish when I want to throw it back to the early 90s. So, again, thanks Weezer and thanks to the hosts and the audio people who put this together. Amazing!
The contrast between his excitement and the band's excitement immediately after the song ends is very funny. They all immediately turn back into pumpkins while he's celebrating
man i love the blue album. it made being 16 so much cooler. now 46... it still brings me so much joy. one of the few albums i listen to start to finish with no fast fowarding lol
Anyone else in their 30s have it hit them HARD thinking, "If I grew listening to this, this means I'm at least THIRTY!" and then find yourself being super grateful for the music you grew up listening to? 😂
Rivers is one of the best artists of all time - all while being so humble, kind-hearted, and grateful. His melodies are timeless and his songwriting is incredible. Not to mention that he's still going, writing every day, and still sounds and looks the same. He's also one of the few artists that is dedicated to his fanbase. We salute you, Captain Cuomo!
Everytime i see them perform live; I'm not only amazed to see that Rivers plays lead, but that he plays it so effortlessly (yet flawlessly) while he's singing 🤯. For my non-musicians, just know: this is extremely rare. Playing lead is a full-time job . . . as is lead singing, which is why they almost never mix. I know some troll's gonna get on here talking about some rare examples, but these are the exceptions people. Can we just admire how amazingly Rivers pulls this off every time? Truly a gem and gifted musician.
my dad would usually blast this album dropping me off at school. i have vivid memories of him belting say it aint so and being like "gosh daddd, so embarrassing" now im grateful to have grown up with this.
I was sixteen in high school when the blue album came out. I would jam to it after school and with the boys in the band and we eventually ended up playing it live at our pep rally. Great times!
This album taught me to play drums. Impossible to count the number of times I've listened to it and played it. The simplicity and awesome melodies blew my mind. Still does. Younger folks these days, might never understand that... End of an Era indeed
When I was very young I rememeber one night while I was driving with my dad we were scanning channels on the radio and The Sweater Song was playing. I watched my Dad completely light up and sing every word. It was awesome. Love that song so much.
Saw Weezer in my hometown just a few months after this record dropped, they were opening for Live. Rivers was sick so they only played 5-6 songs, but it was glorious. Me and my little brother were right up front, and left halfway through Live. We were there 100% to see Weezer.
Weezer will forever be the first band i discovered all by myself, no radio or friends suggestion. just saw the blue album in the record store. listened to it in the store (like we used to do) and bought it. And then a few weeks later buddy holy went to number one in the peoples chart in Belgium. as a teenager this was quite the experience. thx for 30years weezer, been on my playlists all those years, even when we wrote those lists on our cd-r or cassette tapes.
I was 13 when this came out and it changed my life. '94 is arguably the best year ever in music history. So many iconic albums came out that year, and this is one of them.
@@grandtheftak3666 Psch one of my all time favorite songs. Was the first song I learned. The thoughtful lyrics... the juxtaposition between the verses and choruses.. The deconstruction / build up device they use in the end of the song really introduced me into what patience means and how to get a big musical pay off. Gah. That song still does something to me.
Now that I read a comment like yours, I agree! But, I think that coming across those couple of Weezer music albums was one of the many nicest things that could have happened to me in my life.😢💙😭
Weezer is a timeless band. 30 years on and they still sound just as fresh as they did when this album came out. The mix sounds fantastic, but let's take a moment to appreciate how River's has a voice that hasn't really weathered or changed.
Something to be said about a phenomenal band that still plays their old songs the way they were written and doesn't do all these annoying embellishments that makes them so totally different that you cant even sing along to it in your head. Great video, thank you!
I’m a Latino man who discovered Weezer via the Undone music video on VH1 back in the late 90’s. I now have 3 daughters and my recently turned 12 year old daughter has become enamored with Weezer. This past Friday I enjoyed one of the best nights of my life watching Weezer with my 22 year old and my 12 year old at the Intuit Dome. I’m glad that this music will live on and transcend generations far beyond mine.
Me too! Weezer came to my local music festival in 2023 and it was my first time seeing them! It’s mainly a country/bluegrass festival with some big acts (Sheryl Crow and Marcus Mumford also played that day), so some people weren’t into them. But that meant I could get closer to the stage! Hearing all these songs live was incredible! They were on right before the last “headliner” act of the day Zach Bryan, and I left shortly after his set started, nothing against him!

The audio mixing engineer/s for the bandsound deserves a reward.
Having a hard time bc it sounds like they used autotune on the vocals of Brian and Rivers. I don't think they need that, they're great musicians and can sing just fine without it

I absolutely love Karl, Suzy, and Brian doing the intro in Undone!! 🩵🩵🩵

Rivers sounds so great still. Vocally to hit all those notes still at 54 is impressive.
I love Rivers, truly, but I don’t think for a second that wasn’t pitch corrected to some extent.

I can hear a bit of pitch correction honestly
he still looks like he’s in his 20s, i need to know what he’s eating
He’s 54. Not 94
He’s a professional singer
He’s sung these songs a million times
Brian Bell adds so much sonically to Weezer Every nuanced sound is him. Vocal harmonies. Trading off rhythm guitar and lead riffs.

It is an all-time great album, but I think you should expand your taste if you think there are only a handful of albums you can play start to finish.
I hope I can see them live one day!! Definitely one of my favorite bands of all time.
My friend and I wrote a letter (remember letters?) to the address on the cd case asking for the lyrics. Weeks later, we received them. They were handwritten (a copy, or course) and we were “so stoked”! Wish I’d kept them.
Yes!!!!!!
WEEZER FAN sent lyrics and stickers etc.... it was really cool. I was 18. My friend still has all the swag.
I still have the envelope and lyrics page. They just tore my address from the envelope I sent and taped it to the return envelope.
Yes! Still have the lyrics, my Weezer fan club card and the signed press kit photo. Glad to be among others that don’t find it odd I’ve held onto these things for 30 years. 😂
the first time i saw Weezer play Say It Ain't So live i cried and this song still hits so hard for me
The truth is, that song does hit very hard, and even more so, when it is talking about a very bad father, an alcoholic and an abandoner, it hurts a lot when you listen to it and sometimes it makes me sad for Rivers, and, in my case, I suffered. . something similar.
