Sometimes older bands do watered down sounding versions of their old hits (ie: missing instruments, lazy vocals, etc.) so it's always great to see a band stay true to their original sound & perform it live just like it sounds on the record. Especially after 30 yrs.

They are probably one of the most humble bands, that do not have ego complexes. They’re studio guys, which means they don’t like the limelight, and focus on their craft instead. Curt Smith is just a regular guy that you would hang out with. Seeing him in Psych was awesome. You know how amazing their talent is and how influential they’ve been, when a good majority of their hit songs have been redone by MAJOR label artists. They are both truly talented, and have deserved all of the success they have received over the years.

I'm a pro sound man and been a musician myself for about 15 years. Today I realized that, in this crazy world that we all live in, I haven't taken the time to listen to an entire album or live recording top to bottom in months, if not years... I remembered the old days where I used to listen to all 13 albums of The Beatles (plus Past Masters) on repeat about 10 times each minimum... no kidding... I would let each of them on the plate for 3 months and listen to the whole thing after class every day. Instead of increasing the volume, I would listen so quietly you could hear it spinning - I'm talking CDs, mind you! That's how I got ears able to hear up to 14kHz after years of live drumming. Today I found this... I closed the light... couldn't stream the image properly so I blacked out the screen... sat in my chair, got my best pair of headphones, bring the volumes down to 1-2 notches (youtube volume at about 1 third of the way) and this was enough, because great mix sounds huge without a lot of gain in your sound system or headphones at all.
I forgot what it was not to had a single thought running consciously thought your head, not to look up the comments, not to say something or play or tap along the music of watch the camera work (which is quite nice)... just the sound, just the music... and they are performing for you right there in your room... the best mix I heard in years... transcend the soul... amazing!

I am of their generation and I also played and sung a lot in those years, and still do. Obviously, nowhere near their success or one might argue, talent. However, also a non-smoker non-drinker, my voice has got better since the early 80s, better technique, better control, better tone. Once upon a time aging was considered good for arts like for wine, then it became "it's for the young". Stil great music created by octogenarians McCarthney and the like... but the young prefer trap and the likes...

Hopefully they and I both live long enough and musical time and chance makes that bucket list item event happen! I will then sob tears of joy at seeing their masterpiece live, in-person!

Are you 100 percent sure of the opinion you state as fact? I am a bit skeptic of the sound being presented as recorded livevas same as the video...simultaneous? Darylrs house is one of the best if not the best recording places . what Im saying is that the clarity of sound is way to clean to be recorded as you observe a so called or pertrayed live performance.

2005 was my first ever concert, and it was Tears For Fears at the Britt in Jacksonville, OR. I had no idea who they were, but a live concert sounded fun, as I had never attended one before. It was the summer after 5th grade - I had just started learning how to play guitar that year. Since then, guitar has grown into my primary hobby. T4F has never been a massive influence on me, but I can't help but love the energy of their music. Such full, rich sound! Here I am 17 years later finding brand new inspiration from them!

The fact that they annoy each other after so many years despite their fame and fortune is obvious.
The fact that they are great musicians that don’t get enough mention as a unique guitarist and bass player is also obvious, and annoys me as a musician. They are complete pros.
The drummer totally nails all the licks from the albums and session drummers from the records.
I saw them in ‘ 90 ‘ for the Seeds of Love tour in Atlanta with Simon Phillips on drums.
    Oleta Adams played piano.
    What a band.....
I’m glad they “ discovered “ her in a hotel in New Orleans performing, and flew her to London to do the album.
And yes, the audio, sax player, bass, keyboard, and female vocalist are spot on.
You feel like you are present in that room.
    Great.
    Long live Tears for Fears.

I thought the same. I watched the BBC concert and their live concert in Ireland.. It seems like there is still bad blood between them, as notices that Roland tries to "bring Curt in when he's in the zone" but Curt seems to me, "tolerating" Roland, so "What's the story, morning glory!" 🤷🏿‍♀️

One of the best stories in music of forgiveness, reunion, and humility. The struggle they had trying to redeem their past failures is an inspiring story to all who know it. Much potential/time - gone. An important warning for all. We all lose, when ego dominates. Understand b4 being understood. Quick to listen, slow to speak. Practice the golden rule WHEN IT'S HARD, and it WILL become an automatic part of you.

A defining moment of my youth. Songs from the Big Chair came out in the same year that music changed the political landscape and crossed boundaries globally through the event 'Live Aid'. It was a remarkable year for music and this album remains one of my favourite ever. The nostalgia with each note, each bar comes flooding back and tangibly evokes memories of my 18th year. Listening to it again now and hearing the stories behind some of the songs brings those memories back again. Thanks for posting!
