This kid is amazing! I have known his Dad since 9th grade. We played guitar with different bands and traded licks for years! Now Marcus kicks both me and his dad's butt on guitar! I heard him sing and was blown away a second time when he was just 17 years old! I am black and have played in many bands and made a living at it and still do as a full time music teacher who plays 8 instruments. Marcus plays and sings with more soul than ANY of the black R&B and blues players that I performed with over the years. So glad to see that he is starting to get the attention that he deserves. He gets better every time I listen. Rock on Marcus!
EricBlackmonGuitar hey man on a side not I enjoy jamming to your tracks you put up! Great stuff. Good to see you on this video and that is high praise. Bless!
I was able to hang out with Marcus and his dad when they played in Kalamazoo a few months back and they're both just super solid dudes on top of being brilliant musicians. His dad definitely helps to make sure he stays humble when it's so easy for kids his age to get a big head. I can't wait for him to come back around in a couple months.
Crazy...small room with woodwinds brass and drums and everything is clear separated in mix and didn't lose tonal quality. Vocal on dynamic mic sounds like studio recording great reverb and processing I'd say even better than on the studio track.

Saw him open for Chris Stapleton yesterday, he burnt up the stage and the horns are such a great addition to his southern soul. Covered sabbath and we all fell about the place🤯
With Marcus King, I can’t choose between voice or guitar ! So soulful ! And surprise, almost jazzy sometimes ! Love this man. Super band too, of course.
That solo is suuuuuuper jazzy. And to think that he literally just improvised that on the spot blows my mind man. Insane talent. I play guitar and learning that solo has been a masterclass for me in terms of how to play a soulful bluesy solo with a lot of jazz elements throughout. He studied jazz guitar for a few years with a teacher and it really shows.
