      +Amun TOO it's because their production is better. and their jokes are funnier.
      This is a good channel but they chemistry isn't the same. I'd call speed factory a more 5th gear type show of car mods while MCM is more Top gear with all the silly humor.

      tagrav yes they have more money and production time but I prefer what these guys do. Besides those douches are Nissan and subi fanbois so the have strong bias plus these two guys are more technical minded and can actually track race properly where as mcm do bullshit drag racing.

    Instead of a catch can on my AP1 I opted for an 04-05 valve cover. It's got updated baffling and compatible with the F20C motor. I blew a cloud of oil smoke at the first autox in the new car, but after the ap2 valve cover I had no other issues on track.
    As for the battery, if you boys are playing ball a Braille battery in the trunk would be ideal (fuel cell in the future though?). Otherwise just take that battery you have and drop it in the back as Jon mentioned.
    Love it guys!

    I think a full N/A build would be sweet, everyone goes F/I. Header, pulleys, ported/built head, stroked block, carbon fiber driveshaft are a few ideas I'll throw your way.

    • @wolfy9005
      @wolfy9005 8 лет назад

      +SumnerKidd Aluminium is better, carbon fibre likes to shatter with the heat cycling. 1-2kg difference won't affect accel that much, Although a chrome-moly will last forever and you can get away with pretty thin wall thicknesses, almost equal in weight to an aluminium one but stronger

    • @DubovyPaul
      @DubovyPaul 8 лет назад

      +wolfy9005 but because of the flex of the carbon a carbonfibre drifeshaft gives a little bit of a punch in the higher rpm range and flattens some ditches in the powerband :)

    Just starting the video and comments so far...
    I have a set of the Jenvey TBs on a Cosworth KBA (SBD kit) and they are a very nice bit of kit.
    Use an air box with them - cuts down some of the noise and with a cold air feed has been proven to add power and torque (yes, I know they are derived from each other, with RPM) - it may also allow the continued use of an external air filter.
    Always order radiators with a drain plug/tap - can save a LOT of mess and faffing around.
    Appears that the fan mount is blocking a large area of the radiator off - if so, redesign it.
    With the cam' cover off, be a good time to reconsider and modify the breather setup* - some engines are better designed than others and a bit of trimming or bending can work wonders - it definitely shouldn't need two puke cans if it isn't suffering a lot of blowby, either way.
    *without having one in hand, from the interweb pictures it looks like this is where to start - the internal 'chamber' the breather is drawing from appears to have a single inlet on the opposide side and it appears possible for oil to build up in the baffle and pass out the breather tube - I would remove the baffle plate and drill a couple of small drain holes in the corners, to allow any accumulated oil to drain.

    What I've found makes this job easier is to remove the alternator first. That way you can get at the bolts from the front and it's a bit easier to turn your ratchet. I also use this approach when lifting the head to get to so some of the braces.
    Thanks for the great content guys!

    Tech Tip: Use those extensions with the locking ends for the sockets. Also using swivel sockets like the sets that Matco sells instead of just a socket and swivel. separate.
    My last observation would be to unbolt then motor mounts and raise the engine enough to gain space to access the lower intake manifold bolts. Just don't raise the engine too high that you damage the trans mount or stretch the engine wiring harness.

    If you want to spruce up the engine bay, I would recommend some JDM cred bling: I have a J's Racing oil cap that I really like the quality and look of. I have a Blox battery tie down I'm quite pleased with, too (they come in a variety of colours if you want to match up with your valve cover colour or contrast it somehow). Basically, when I want to spend money on my car, but I'm too broke to do something cool, I buy a little piece of hard parking e-peen extender, and it scratches the itch.
    In keeping with the theme of because race car, a lightweight battery would probably be a nice addition to the BADASS2000. It's easily one of the hardest places to shed weight on a car.

    I recommend a Deka etx14 battery and an AMS battery tie down. Im doing the same on my STi and mounting the battery horizontal so I can remove the wiper fluid tank and replace that space with a oil cooler with ducting through the bumper. I picked up a 2n1 wiper fluid aluminum tank and catch can that will sit above the battery. Should be hella sick. I will be doing a review and install on my channel.

    I would kill to have a F20C in my Civic with my current turbo kit. I have a 97 EK Civic coupe with a B18B1 swap with a 63 trim T04e Turbonetics turbo and an Integra GSR transmission running on 8 lbs of boost. I am in dire need of a LSD and some sticky tires but you can see a short pull video that I uploaded on my personal channel. Right now I'm getting ready to turn up the boost with some bigger injectors, a new MAP sensor, and get a new tune. Right now it's running on a P28 on Crome Pro on a copy of my buddy's B20 turbo tune so it runs really rich under boost. It's not anything like your S2000 or RX7 build but I did everything myself and it's my sleeper. I love it.

      +Speed Academy Thank you! I'm always quick to give complements to anyone's build, regardless of the make and model, as long as the owner has pride in it, loves it, and has at least turned a wrench on it. I am part of a car club here near Pittsburgh and we have Hondas, Minis, Volkswagens, Subarus, a couple of Mazdas, and even a couple of BMWs, we love all makes and models and we don't discriminate against any of them. Your philosophy fits right in with our beliefs and that's what attracted me to your channel so much. I also love a good build and your videos are entertaining. There's only one problem, I wish that I would've found y'all sooner! Good luck guys, and God bless.

  • @Cardfold11
    @Cardfold11 8 лет назад

    Get dual valve springs such as Ferrea Beehives or find a deal on a built/port matched head. In conjunction with a fluidampr crank pulley (far better than ATI in my opinion), the car can safely rev to 10,000+ rpm.
    Also get a different final drive for the differential. Factory ratio is 4.10, for the AP1 I would recommend a 4.56 or 4.77 gear. I can guarantee you that these mods with the ITBs would be lethal.

    • @speedacademy
      @speedacademy  8 лет назад

      +Cardfold11 WE've been considering a different final drive as it seems like a great addition to lower lap times.

    • @Cardfold11
      @Cardfold11 8 лет назад

      +Speed Academy for sure! You will come out of sharp/ low speed turns already in the powerband. Also with the 4.77 you can truly feel a difference in straightline acceleration too.

    +Speed Academy For the battery look @ the PasswordJDM Billet Aluminum Mini battery holder and an Odyssey PC680, saw it on S2ki, looks amazing and the price is fair. And of course, relocated to the trunk. And maybe a sweet dimpled coil pack cover, Circuit Hero makes one. Ap1 coil packs are problematic, had to replace mine when I installed the SC as cyl #2 was failing, now would be as good a time as any to replace and upgrade to the 05 coil packs, RockAuto.com is extremely cheap and ships fast. Can't wait to see more!!!

    Judging on the work done so far, the head and the exhaust manifold need some work to breathe as well as the itb’s. Short term, long tube headers. Long term, built head and port and polish. As far as the battery I would just get a smaller battery as it doesn't need to many amps to crack over and new terminal clamps.

    Does the filter go directly over the ITB's? It feels a bit wrong to get the air out of the warm engine bay. Maybe whever built the hatch of the RX7 can build you a nice carbon fiber airbox that bolts between the throttle bodys and the velocity stacks, possibly with a Naca duct in the hood as a intake. I can't think of any F1 car after the seventies with open ITB's like this.

      +Todd Higgins I run a PC680 in my road car and it's fine after 3 years but lithium ion units are getting pretty cheap -SSB LFP30Q-BS UltraLite Lithium is 2 kg's and $100 more than I paid for my Odyssey battery.

    Do a dry cell battery, and gloss black or red valve cover
