Great work :) love watching your vids. Quick tip from a spray painter, when using spray cans it's good to warm them up in a small bowl/bucket with hot water. It softens up the pigments that sit at the bottom of the cans and up's the pressure in there for a much nicer spray pattern. But don't heat it up too much as this will distort the can. 😄👍
Great tip, thanks!
So proud of Ken for finishing up his Med School and becoming one of the best surgeons in Canada 🎉
Ken cut no corners , he is a perfectionist.
But he did cut some curves :3
Hey I want to start off by saying thank you, I was looking around to see how to install fender flares and you guys are the only ones I like. From the tools, rust protection spray to everything and still had time to goof around. Thank you to you both
I love how positive and encouraging you guys are of each other. Keep on rockin!
Love this one! We need more Ken! ... and more of that 7. #GRIDLIFE OR BUST!
A job I've got to do on the Coupe. My arches were bunched in Japan to fit the over fenders, just cut and rolled, not sealed back up. Had a rough idea how to do this, but good to see it being done. Keep the videos coming.
I like how Dave is singing happy at the time they film this and then they went along to add the instrumental later.
Great episode guys. jokes, information. It had it all. Pete can't wait until you get back but Ken and Dave had it down for sure.
I wake up this morning and I get excited about u guys something new like always
"Let's see how badly we can fuck this up" - I can relate to this so well.
Same. Working on cars is an exercise in damage control for me.
One of the best episodes so far!!! Keep up the good work guys!!
Remember Kids! If you strip a rivnut, drill the center out with the same size bit that you drilled the rivnut hole!
Nutserts FTW. Solid episode there, DP and Ken.
thank you for showing the correct way to do it, i had all the steps figured out except when you bend the under skin to 90 degrees instead of over lapping it up to weld. saved me an headache for my car
I kind of love that this channel hasn't blown up. It keeps it hidden away from the asshats that usually fill the comment section of videos.
Great episode as always. I was cringing when the fender cutting was happening, but the end result looks awesome. I laughed the whole way through! #wedontneedyoupete! Lol
Another fantastic DIY thanks a lot guys, it's not the itb dyno run video that I've been waiting for but still real good, I hope Pete gets back with those injectors soon.
Feeling pretty good about myself as I just rewatched Days of Thunder with my son on his bday. good episode guys!
daves staged grinding shots are the best part
+McSteeze bro, the only thing that's staged is Dave's victory speech after he finished cutting the fenders.
I should sleep, but racecar
Y E S
Hell yeah
Props... one of the best correct way of doing it I’ve seen yet on RUclips 💪💪
I like the welding of lip back together instead of foam . Great work on fender flares. So wanting to flare my 94 mustang. Gives it more custom look
Sickness! Great job guys!
Awesome how you weatherproofed the fenders,it's pro level. And vids are getting better and better!Keep it up guys!
+Orfeas Christodoulou Thanks!
I love the banter in this video.
+boofighter Pete's missing out!
His turbo build is looking sweet.
This is easily the best video I've watched on how to do this! Thank you for making such high quality video!
+Zachary Greenquist Awesome! Glad you found it useful.
Speed Academy He did run one continuous bead along the whole thing with a MIG welder correct? That must have been off camera. Then you ground it down?
Actually, he did a series of tack welds so as not to put too much heat into the fender which could warp the metal. So lots of tack welds to slowly seal up the gap, then ground down the tacks for a cleaner appearance, then sealant to make sure its water tight, then primer and paint to protect the metal.
Cool!
Thorough job fellas! Keep up the great work. Looking forward to seeing the finished product!
+Brett Smith Thanks next episode coming soon!
This has been super helpful! Now I have the courage to attempt install myself. Keep it up guys!
The no guard on the disk cutter is a little worrying, but YOLO right? End result looks good though!
+Mitchell Denham ya, definitely sketchy without the guard, but the face shield might keep us from death or permanent damage. Or so we hoped lol
I shouldn’t, but I have a grinder without a shield. It gets in the way for a lot of custom work. 🙄
Best episode ever, we need more of ken with jokes! Lol😭😭😭
Good to see someone doing this properly!
i really want to get some fender flares on my Honda civic coupe, but first was pretty afraid to ruin it buttttt... this vid helped me alot! i am gonna do it the same way you did. Thanks!
nothing more Canadian then that tims cup on the trunk..gotta love it 😜
a lot more work than most people think, not an easy mod if you want it done right.
Finally educated ppl, using nutserts instead of rivets
Love the videos, keep them coming. You guys are hilarious btw
Guys you need to get a hoodie in your clothing ! It would be nice
+Vicente lerdo I second this.
+Vicente lerdo They just got one... great price, only a small burn hole. Burn hole is added for reduced weight and aerodynamics when running.
+Vicente lerdo Yes, plase. With daves face on the back.
So much testosterone coming from DP this episode 💪🏻
Yaay BADASS2000!!!
Just installed these on my s2000 also! If you haven't yet, I would trim the inside lip of the fender flare so you gain the full 25mm of clearance.
+Mike Dailey yes, definitely going to trim the inside of the lip and we're also going to use some fender flare gaskets to seal them against the body.
awesome video; keep up the good work guys!
Dave-San in how to make cars badasses hahha awesome video!
great episode guys! very informative. wish this was out before I started hacking up my own fenders. hehe
What happened to the itbs? Can we hear them? Are you going to get a custom tune soon?
+TheDustyaman just waiting on fuel injectors, which Pete picked up from ID while he's down in Phoenix. He'll be home in a few weeks, at which point we'll install the injectors and head for the dyno. Won't be too long now.
I'll be using this as a reference to do my Veloster flares ;)
I want this exhaust sites.google.com/site/FenderFlareCapital
Keep on making these great videos! I love seeing the s14, but an s2k is also nice ;)
Greeting from phoenix! Can confirm its nice and warm today
thanks for the upload! I'm getting ready to flare my car so now I have a better idea on what to do. Do you remember what volts ken was welding at?
110v sir!
this channel is the best!
Thanks so much!
Such a brilliant channel - keep it up guys !!!
...the stevie wonder skit at the end killed me.
+MattySP34Ks We're all trying to be comedians and rarely get a laugh but good to hear you found it funny. :)
Speed Academy Absolutely hysterical. Thanks for your replies by the way :)
You guys should do a personal car track day. Ken's FD vs Pete's s14 vs Dave's celica
+Scadieee we are thinking about hosting a lapping day this summer so anyone who wants to can come rip some hot laps with us.
great video, simple and detailed explanation on step by step instructions on how to install it! where can you buy your rivet tools?
Hi, Thanks for the video. It's very educational. Im sorry if this is a dumb question, but why did you have to cut the OEM fender? It doesn't seem you needed the clearance because you're still running the same size tire. Also it does appear the fender flares would have covered the OEM fender anyways.
Can't believe I don't see anyone quoting Eddie Murphy Delirious? Ha Ha very funny Ken, Stevie Wonder is a musical genius! Great work guys and keep the vids coming!
DAMNnnn LooKs Cold! Broz! One way to keep warm Yes..
hey there, great video! My brother is wanting me to help me out with his 350z. In the video you used a mig welder. But could I use stick welding and to what tempt do you think I would have to run in order for me not to burn through the thin metal
Best over fender installation on RUclips everyone else does some jenky ugly shit ! Great vid! I’d like to see you installing a rocket bunny kit to up the anty
spring is here! the glorious badass2k will be able to sing soon with the mighty itbs!
^_^/
Dave: Good job on the fender cut, i reckon you did pretty well. That speed academy cap looks hot! Releasing it anytime soon? Will definitely grab one
Thx! We had some round patches made up, so I had one sewn onto a hat. I'll put the patches up on our Shopify page tonight and then you can have to stitched onto any hat you like.
great video guys. learned alot
Great job guys. Keep up the good work.
All hair BadASS 2000!!! Only car I would gladly trade my Z project for.
lmao those micheal jackson moves got me damn
Thank you so much for these videos they are fantastic.
+TheARJ15 Glad you're enjoying these things!
Those are some nice chelsea boots DP !
+im Schwaggy Blundstones, bro! Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi!
I would love to just come out and hang out with these guys. maybe hold the camera while the pros work lol
+Diogo DaCunha if you are shiver resistant then you are hired.
Alright, lets see how bad i can fuck this up....
That brightened my day up and that's exactly what ill be saying come Tuesday when my fender flares turn up
I love you speed academy
Can you guys list all the tools used please
Day's of Thunders! Heck Yea
crazy how Canadian weather works. thick coats and thick hats to just sweaters and t shirts by the end.
and more Ken! he's jokes
+helllokitty138 ya it was freezing cold on day 1 of the job and t-shirt weather the next day. It's been a strange March up here! And more Ken is always a good thing.
I'm shocked you would assume I'm an American! I live in Toronto! Maybe I'll even bump into you guys at the supermarket or something and then i'll be able to get an auto graph!!!!! :D
+helllokitty138 We'd be humbled and honoured!
=D
I swear I heard a few time splitters references in there, or I might just be crazy. either way great video as always !
hahaha love the ending
Haha, days of thunder the movie was also where I first saw them. When they were building "Cole Trickle"' 's car.
Literally was thinking about RWB about a minute before he brought up the Nakai san reference lmaoooo
+Clayton Rice Maybe we should've brought him in to cut the fenders on the ASS2k lol
Good work bro
he said "why am i thinking ray charles" i was dying lol
Haaaa that Ray Charles moment at the beginning
Stevie Wonder
Nice job guys
Way to go Dave! Looks awesome :-D
hey dave, you should put your hands on the more technical stuff like this, it's a great contrast between someone whos done it many times and someone whos just learning. great job as always!
oh, and XL is the largest size you guys have for the crew necks? i guess im gonna have to lose a couple pounds... t'sall good!
+itsToon Dave is slowing learning haha. The problem is he just likes watching me and Ken do all the work!
A VERY good idead is to remove the interior exposing the inner arches(??) In case of a fire between the two layers, you can easily put it out, but if you don't remove the interior you CAN set the car on fire and it can be VERY hard to put out, when you can't spray directly at the source..
There’s no interior exposed idiot, it’s all exterior
So much goodness in this one, did ya roll up the rim on the Timmies
+arumrunner yup, she was a dud!
I welded on new fenders for an old-ass Accord, and it kept catching on fire too! Idk what was burning but I just let it keep going because racecar.
Better job than I have ever done on arches. 😂.
Dave, when you "called this episode a wrap" I was pretty upset.. Now we have to wait another month for the next video!
+LFTD we might have another update sooner than that. We're working as fast as we can! Haha
Fantastic video , very detail keep up the good work. Where did you get the rivets from and what's the part number for the Toyota rubber?
Ok....
One of these times, I'm actually going to count the subtle sexual references in these build videos. Can't wait to see the final.
+Jesse Carmichael They won't be going away anytime soon :D
As Tempe AZ resident I can confirm that having year round racing, several road courses to choose from, and the ability to use summer tires year round, sure does suck. For our wallets that is. :(.
You guys should announce next time you're in Phoenix, maybe check out the local track and meets.
Also, what is this rust thing you keep referring about?
Maybe some fender welting when it's time to paint the fenders? If it looks good in your opinion!
Enjoyed the DIY vid.
+TWIRKNOLOVE Great idea!
+Speed Academy "thats correct"
So I used to do a lot of angle grinding without hearing protection too. Now I have to have a white noise generator at night to drown out the constant ringing...
That's actually a great point. We really should wear ear protection more often
+David Pratte Not trying to be "that guy" I just wish I had been more kind to my ears when I was younger.
what size are those rivet nuts ..and what is the model numbers of that rivet tool?
Use a guard on your angle grinder next time.... Wouldn't want to have disc fragments stabbing your insides if the disc were to blow up
5:11 when I start any project
Can the mig welder do the whole job for welding the fender together? E.g mig100 flux core
Question, at 16:57, after you weld all the flap points (from the outside), you go in and cut the flaps off, then grind down all the metal to make it a smooth finish. Aren't you essentially grinding away all the contact points that you just welded, leaving potential weak spots or gaps?
It may look like that but when we're grinding we're only taking off a bit of the weld so there's still lots of weld left holding it on. But remember that this doesnt serve a structural purpose as much as making sure its sealed from water and debris.
Hello, i have a 1996 Toyota Celica GT and i am wondering where can i find fender flares and more body kits like side skirts and such. Its becoming a real hassle looking for things that would like nice on my car and i decided to come to the car community on YT thanks in advance for the help if any.
Great video, you got a new subscriber
Awesome! Welcome to the sub list :) Make sure to turn notifications on so you don't miss any new vids!
Ooh where can I get that rad SA cap that Dave was initially wearing!!?
We ordered some round logo patches, so I had one sewn onto a hat. I'll put these patches up on our Shopify page tonight so you can buy one if you want
