I might need your help when I get stuck! Thanks, glad you enjoy the vids, I only learnt about the adjusters the other day from a subscriber, they have made the handbrake like new!
Your video close up is awesome and it solved my dilemma. I’m working on my 96 960 rear brake with a Girling caliper, and it didn’t have a hardware clip for the pads to slide on. With your video, I noticed that it didn’t have a hardware too. That means it came from the factory like that. Thank you Jesus !
Thanks for the brake adjuster demo - My 940 which I've had for 16 years never failed on handbrake inbalance before,(I've always gone to the same MOT place) failed the pre-mot check this year on handbrake inbalance - I think they must have tightened up the MOT regulations. Anyway I've bought the adjusters, now that I've watched your video, I'll have no problems fitting them, thanks again
Well done indeed. I would say it is about time for a caliper rebuild/replacement. The brakes on these cars are straightforward enough, but there definitely tricks of the trade that go with them.
Also I have learned,it is good to keep.extra pins, grease or lubricant to keep the pins lubricated, since your caliper could seize up, and it can cost $$$$$
When I checked the footage I thought I really missed out on so many innuendos and such in this video but I'm glad you went there for me 🤣 And thanks mate 👍
I also notice, & have dealt with that whistling sound, on a 240, usually it is the brake pads also if they are dry,or are about to start wearing down the disk.
... to fix the plate / sheet back to the holder ... first clean the contact surface holder with a wire brush to remove any corrosion + clean the sheet - believe me it is much more better. So the sheet can be fixed without any problem and the brake pads can slide better.
I'm quickly catching up on all your content. Not looking forward to running out and having to wait for you to make more. Feedback: I've watched a lot of auto RUclipsrs come up over the past eight years or so, and IMO your stuff is fine in terms of camera angles, etc. The advantages you have over them include your interesting surroundings (e.g., your mattress and the cool graffiti). But also your personality. You're witty and funny. As you can grow that into your videos, your channel will grow faster. Related, I'd like to eventually see your personality reflected in customizing your cars. I imagine that's difficult in Germany, but maybe getting exposed to your efforts to customize in that context and with little money would be great content. All-up, great stuff. I can't wait to see more and watch your channel grow. For history, I wrote this comment at 1.15k subscribers! Clearly I'm special if I found it this early :D Unfortunately, you've given me the Volvo bug in just a couple days, so wish me a quick recovery.
Thank you for the feedback and kind words! Fear not, I have a new video out tonight! And exactly, I want to try and keep the humour on the channel as the only mechanic RUclipsr I truly find hilarious is Derek over at Vice Grip Garage and look how he's doing! The Volvo bug is a great thing, just let it consume you 🤣
My 940 failed MOT today because right side handbrake does not work.. Opened it up to find out that the shoes are in good condition, but the mechanism is not adjustable! Ordered adjusters right away, hope I have them tomorrow, so I can fix it and head straight back to the MOT for a re-check.. Car had still 2 weeks MOT , however, when it fails the test, you can't drive the car legally anymore here in NL. (the two weeks don't say anything anymore, because the car failed the test today..) The only thing you're allowed to to is drive home to repair, and straight back to MOT without any detour. If I can not repair it myself, I have to bring it to a shop to do the repair and also new MOT (can't do only repair, and then bring it to your MOT station for re-check.. it's not allowed) I go to a independant MOT checker, which doesn't do repairs.. I've been to a regular garage shop for MOT with another car and it failed for one shock absorber and a lower suspension arm. Costs :750 euros! On the bill there were two suspension arms for 130 euro a piece.. Ordering such a part cost me 30 euros myself.. So that's how the money is made in those garage shops... Note I live in NL, other counties may be less strict in letting people repair their cars..
This channel about to blow up any day now
Thanks man, glad you think so 🤙
This is my favourite channel on yt i love these videos lol

@@Involvod Haha, after watching your videos i started looking for cheap 740/940s, when i get the chance i will definitly buy one!

Your doing just fine, straight to the point. Keep up your great work!

Been working on these since 1985, still enjoy watching your vids and always learn something new! I didn't realize the bit about the handbrake!

Brilliant as usual lad, camera angles are great and again learning a lot mate, mega effort
Thanks mate! Spraying the door next where you'll only learn how not to do it 🤣
@@Involvod No worries lad and brilliant 😂 look forward to it bud 👌🏻
Your footage is TOP! Great camera angles and close ups! Keep it up! Wow! didn't know the front calipers on 940 are so different than 240.
That's great to hear, thanks!
Also I have learned,it is good to keep.extra pins, grease or lubricant to keep the pins lubricated, since your caliper could seize up, and it can cost $$$$$
You're doing great as far as content, appreciate these videos. Volvo guy in upstate New York.
Thanks I appreciate the feedback! 👍 Thanks for watching
My V70 is squeaking a little at the front…. The rear discs and pads were replaced earlier this year so think the fronts are due. Great video fella
Thanks man! Hopefully it's nice and straightforward
Yeah man, I love it when its greased up and slides in and out easily 👍🏻 copper grease 4 ever 🤣 . Top camera angles no need to worry about it.
When I checked the footage I thought I really missed out on so many innuendos and such in this video but I'm glad you went there for me 🤣 And thanks mate 👍
A drilled hold in the caliper bracket is definitely a new one for me as well! Although not a terrible idea in a pinch but dang.
Yeah needs must but to leave it like that isn't cool 🤣

Great vid. Bet you're teaching people loads 👍👏☺️ xxx
Thank you, an actual 'How To' for once!
Informative information going to use thise to adjust my handbrake
Also do they still use like springs to keep the pads in place, I know for the 240s with Ate brakes those are good parts to have spares also.
They have those springs just on the rears on these, if it's the ones I think you mean
I just like to make sure to have extra parts, upkeep the cars going
I have the same problem on my 740, but it’s appear only after a long parking session. Dunno why 🤔
It could be starting to stick then frees off once it's used a bit, hopefully it just needs a clean and grease up 👍
@@Involvod yup, planning to clean that up during this lockdown. Thanks mate, cheers!
Filming is sound.
No complaints here, and look forward to even more vids.
Thanks for the feedback! Got another one up on Saturday I hope
