Nice review! Angel's Envy sort of grew on me over time... I didn't care for it the first time I tried it, but then I tried it again recently and really enjoyed it
Lovely one Matt! Sounds just right for the USD price! Thanks for this! Might have to check our a bottle for ourselves. Seems like a good bar rail bourbon to keep around.
I have not tried angel's envy yet. I has been on my list for a while though. Finish sounds really nice, fruit, berries, and it doesn't lingerie long which I prefer. Great review, I'll move this up the list! Cheers Matt!
Angels Envy to me is a good bourbon. I was traveling this last week and had an Old Fashioned made with it. Even my daughters liked it. Ill have to make another one at home. Another great review. thanks for info. cheers
Glad to see you do some Bourbon haha. I’m not a fan of angels envy but I haven’t had it in a couple years. My favorite port finished bourbon is Isaac bowman from bowman distillery
Ooh, I want to give that a go! I was just in the States and picked up a load of bourbons, a few ryes and a 'four grain', so there'll be more US whiskeys being reviewed here soon!
Man am so jealous I don’t have that 😂😂😂😅 that’s a awesome shape bottle gonna ask my friend in England 🏴 to get me one I go crazy for booze I don’t got yet shoot man you got all the good stuff oh well great review again bro 😎 cheers
Matt I have had Angel's Envy Rye and although very difficult to find - I really loved it in a delicious Old Fashioned and a Boulevardier!! Spectacular quality and so delicious!! I smoked one of the Old Fashioned cocktails and it was so special!! I love Rye and I'd love to find more!! I will absolutely try the Bourbon!! Sounds delicious!! 🙂
Great review and explanation Matt! I really like the angel’s envy stuff but my favorite is actually the rye. It’s unbelievably sweet almost like gummy candy. I get a good sweet flavor from the regular but not as much. Good call getting it over here it’s great around $50 but above that it’s really not worth it. Keep up the great work 🥃🥃
Yes. This is a fun Bourbon to review. I recently went back to it. I am a bit surprised that it does not have heavier fruit notes. Still, It is enjoyable. Cheers!
Yeah, I wish it had more of a port influence, but I guess that without this, we wouldn't have brands like Barrell, which are really pushing cask influence
Hey Matt... really nice review... When I first tried it I was very underwhelmed. To me, it doesn't live up to the hype. It tastes very young to me. BUT I will say that I paired it with a prime rib dinner after I tried it and it was so much better with a good beef dinner. I may have to pick up a second bottle when I see it. It has it's place but it's not the Earth shattering bourbon everyone says it is. Glad you had a good trip back here and we will have to connect next time you're here! Cheers to you and Rose!!!
Excellent review! I don't think I'm capable of breaking down a whiskey/bourbon like you. Well done man, I learned something and I primary drink bourbon. That's why I stick to the 'jokes' in my Whiskey & Jokes videos lol. I saw the pictures of you guys at the baseball game. I hope you enjoyed your time in the states. Let me know if you're ever in the New Jersey / Philly area.
Ah it gets easier over time to do the breakdown on camera. Ah no way! Rose used to live in Philly for a couple of years and I visited her there a load of times. Next time we're in that neck of the woods, I'll hit you up
@@TheWhiskeyNerd Nah you’re just very good at reviews. My lane is the casual / lifestyle side and I’m ok with that. Sounds good man. I’d also like to collaborate on future live streams once I build up my channel more. Keep up the good job Matt.
Straight bourbons are the only way to go 2 year minimum aging and anything below 4 years needs an age notice this stuff is aged about 6 before being bottled, good stuff🤤
My favorite under $60usd bourbons are Woodford Double Oaked, Longbranch, Buffalo Trace and Angel’s Envy. For Old Fashioneds Woodford Double Oaked is my favorite, but for neat it’s tough to beat the Buffalo Trace and Angels Envy
Those are all great bottles, but I've not tried Longbranch, how would you rate it against the others you named, and what kind of cocktail would you make with it?
@@TheWhiskeyNerd Longbranch is a Michael McConauhy collaboration with Wild Turkey. It’s double Oaked and I thought it tasted similar to Woodford Double Oaked.
@@AustinfromNashville being as there’s so many options I don’t buy another of the same but I’ve definitely bought Woodford Double Oaked multiple times. Russell’s Reserve is another one that’s a great one
I’ve found the A.E. Rye Bourbon overly sweet. Haven’t tried this one yet. Will have to at some point. Maybe you can review Blade & Bow Kentucky Bourbon. Would love to know what you think. It’s got a great backstory and is quite tasty.
I've heard! But was running up against weight limits in my luggage bringing bottles home (was 6kg over in fact), so I'll have to save it for next time!
My bottle was from 91Y - 9534. I just had a sip and there's definitely some dark red fruit notes there... I have heard that some distilleries re-used old barrels when they couldn't get new barrels in during the pandemic. Barrels which get used again and again give less influence... I'm not saying that AE did that, but if your batch is VERY different to mine, something might have changed.
@@TheWhiskeyNerd now that I could understand. I wish we could compare but unfortunately I have no idea about the smells. Whiskey has always smelled like whiskey to me

What do you think of 'finished bourbons', do you prefer traditional bottles, or do you like experimental releases?
I like all types of bourbons and whiskeys. Just depends on day and mood. But I think this is a good choice especially for price
@@OldFashionedWays agreed, for the price it definitely delivers!

It's definitely something to keep around. A bit more upmarket, but not too expensive. A bit more rounded, but still firmly a bourbon.
Welp, I had never heard of her before, heading back to the liquor store.

Great idea, to pair it with something complimentary. I found it to be pretty underwhelming too.
Great review Matt, well worth grabbing the bottle out there at that price. It is one of my favourite Bourbons I have had. Cheers!

I got the bourbon because Bill Burr said it's delicious on his podcast. I concur

Woodford double is the absolute best $60 whiseky imo. I would easily pay an additional $20 on a blind taste if I didn't know the name
