      Right! It is a weird thing but Dewayne buys so much and the collection has gone up so fast that his drinking, even of rare and expensive bottles, is more than covered by the growth in value. Essentially he drinks for free.

Although the watch market has come down, I'm still 30% in profit & all my wines have also increased in value. Meanwhile my critics aren't able to sell their shares or crypto now they're at a 70% loss. They can't wear, drink or enjoy their digital investment either. Cheers to them!

    Randy, thank you for sharing Dewayne's absolutely stunning whiskey collection, in fact I'm not too proud to say I squealed like a little girl when you showed his Dalmore assortment. Being one of my all time favourite distilleries it's really cool to see the rare bottles "in the flesh" so to speak. I was saddened when they changed the formula for their whisky, which used to have a wonderful warm Mandarin Orange scent and taste, and that taste will always remind me of two things, Christmas, and my late Wife who every year bought me a bottle of Dalmore 12 or Cigar Malt for every one of the 17yrs we were together.
    I'm interested to know if Canadians will be available to participate in Bourbon Heads when it become available? I think it's a fantastic concept from an extremely knowledgeable collector. I'd like to say "Thank-you" to Dewayne also, for collecting all those wonderful bottles, that contain more than a delicious liquid, to a lot of people they represent a time and place of importance, a celebration or a hard fought win, it's a place that's special or a feeling from the heart. It's history in a bottle, a day of victory or even a spectacular season or year!. Whiskey is powerful, it can pull people together like no other beverage, it can create friendships, partners and wealth. It is, and will remain a reminder of love to me, and of beautiful times spent with my amazing better half (a whiskey drinker in her own right). Slàinte Mhath!, Is e uisge beatha (Whisky is life) Cheers! - Dave

    I really enjoyed the interview with Dewayne. It seems he is a scotch fan first. When I was 15 yo my best friend turned 16 an got his drivers license. Saturday night we were hanging out in front of a liquor store. Got someone to buy us a bottle. It turned out to be a bottle of Johnnie walker. We drove to the roller rink. We were 15 an16 years old. We chugged that bottle down in about 10 min.then we got out of the car, and I regurgitated 1/2 of a qt. Of scotch on my shoes. That was 55 yrs ago. And to this day I have never drank a drop of scotch. I can smell it from across the room if someone opens a bottle. But I luv good burbon. Now that I’m retired,I can really enjoy it.

    A question that might already have been asked... What, if anything, do you do to preserve the opened bottles if you have so many at the same time? Seen lots of arguments about using inert gas vs just leaving them open so was curious

    • @BourbonRealTalk
      @BourbonRealTalk  Год назад +1

      The problem with open bottles is UV light damage and evaporative loss of ethanol. Despite what everyone says whiskey is not very chemically reactive with oxygen. I am doing a study where we did various things to damage whiskey for 2 years and we also tested argon gas as a preservative. We have not released it yet. In short, open bottles changing is a very slow process if you keep your bottles in an air conditioned space, have good corks, and prevent direct exposure to sunlight. When it does change it is subtle, so most of the big whiskey people just don't worry about it.

      An NFT is just a technical way to track ownership of something. Most NFT's are documented ownership of something that is of intangible worth like art. This would be fractional ownership of an underlying asset with traceable market value, so not exactly the same as buying a piece of art.

    • @BourbonRealTalk
      @BourbonRealTalk  11 месяцев назад +1

      Most if not all the producers are still in business, but what Dewayne collects are generally limited releases, so technically not being retailed anymore since they only do them once. There is no expiration date on spirits. They change very slowly over time in the bottle, but never become undrinkable if stored out of direct sunlight and in an air conditioned environment.
