I was hoping you'd get to Canadian Mist. It's been a really long time but I still remember how bad it was and how hard it was to get through that bottle. I'd say it's like drinking Pine-Sol but somehow worse. Maybe after someone smoked a few bowls of Pine-Sol, collecting the resin and using it to flavor more Pine-Sol.
I am not a whiskey expert yet I do prefer Evan Williams. Great flavor, great price. Discovered it at our local restaurant by ordering a whiskey coke with house whiskey.
Yup, it's amazing to me that people pay the price they do for Jack D, a 2yr (at best) whiskey when you can get EW 86P for half the cost, or less & it's a 5yr Kentucky Straight Bourbon. On paper, EW should cost 2-3Xs what Jack Black is.
Jim Bean and Evan Williams are two of my inexpensive bourbon regulars. I prefer Beam as it doesn’t give me hangovers as bad as Evan. I’m not a bourbon snob. I get nice bottles a few times a year but for the most part I drink the more affordable stuff. I can afford the good stuff. I just don’t like spending that much money on it when I drink it so often. Both of them do the trick.

You guys just gave me the next tasting idea I have for my colleagues. I work as a liquor consultant at a Binny's and I kind of want to buy the bottom shelf and (minus the EW and Beam) just for the fun of it all.
Two snobby kids that think they know bourbon. I was hauling bourbon from distilleries in Ky before they were born. Even drank old private stock with Booker Noe from Jim Beam. Evan Williams single barrel is my drink of choice.
First video I've ever seen from you guys. Pretty impressive guy on the right could call out distillery's after a sip. Like instantly, and was right both times.
Evan Williams black label with Dr Pepper and a twist of lime. "The Sandpiper". Won an award for that drink way back when. Each of these has their place in a mixed drink, but it's a different drink for each one.
Also, I just found out that James E. Pepper is apparently back in production - Founded in 1780, and apparently went out of business in 1967. Supposed to be quite good and would love to hear your review. Thanks.
Based on personal experience I can 100% agree. Never had black velvet or 10 High, but the rest, yeah. Evan Williams has proven to be the best booze for the budget for me for quite a few years. Sure, sometimes im willing to pony up for a bottle of something nice, but most of the time i just want something i offensive to sip on before bed, and EW meets that
This is the first video of yours that I've watched. Before Covid I used to bartend in a neighborhood bar. I had patrons who happily put down their three dollars for a shot of some of these contenders on a daily basis. One of them sometimes treats himself to Black Velvet. ::D I have a neighbor four doors from me who is just learning about Bourbon. (He is sixty-eight years old.) He knows that he likes bourbon, each time he finishes a bottle, he buys a new one, and he buys something different. Sometimes it is mid-shelf, sometimes bottom shelf. I will steer him toward Evan Williams when he is in a frugal mood. I'm not sure where your price points fall. If you want a decent Canadian Whiskey for a good price, Windsor Canadian is probably my favorite lower shelf drink.
Came here to see what you thought of the Evan Williams, it's not bad isn't it? Fortunately I had to quit drinking but that was my goto whiskey, very reasonable price, nice fiery corn flavor with some hints of vanilla or something.
I usually go for Harper, Maker’s, Daniel’s, or Beam because I’m not a huge fan of bourbon, and usually prefer a scotch when going for whisky, so I’ll get more expensive stuff on that end. I use bourbon for highballs, mixing, and occasionally a straight drink here and there. They serve their purpose and don’t destroy my wallet. I haven’t found Evan Williams in Japan yet but I don’t often look out for a decent cheap bourbon, so I don’t know how easy it is to get here. That’s my other issue: I have to be able to get it, and many good whisky brands just don’t sell here, and if they do, they are TOO expensive for what you get. Jim Beam is great for what it is (and I got a free glass in a pack once! 🤣)
I noticed that your top 3 were all distilled in Kentucky. Mainly in Clermont. Kentucky makes a lot of whiskey/bourbon’s. Hat’s off to my old stomping grounds. Cheers
Oof, Canadian Mist was my first whiskey. Not because I wanted it, but because I found two unopened bottles in my garage after moving to a new house. It's awful.
Laura Bush's reportedly famous ultimatum to her husband, "It's either Jim Beam or me," and George W. Bush chose Jim Beam over her. Damn! Should've chosen Jim Beam!

How appropriate that I bought Black Velvet today for the first time ever, and after 2 shots I'm browsing randomly and found this video. I'm not Canadian, so no preference there. I didn't think it was that bad, and planned to use it for mix.
I'm sipping some Evans right now. Definitely under-appreciated. And cheap too. Canada whiskey shouldn't even be compared to bourbon. They are different animals.

I'd say it's like drinking Pine-Sol but somehow worse. Maybe after someone smoked a few bowls of Pine-Sol, collecting the resin and using it to flavor more Pine-Sol.
I don't think I've laughed so hard at a RUclips video. Solid win for Evan Williams though! I keep that stocked at home as a mixer.
My dad used to buy Canadian Mist by the case! Said it wasn’t all that great but he drank it because it was cheaper than Crown Royal.😂
Totally digging the GMM Gut Check vibes with this episode. Feel free to borrow from those guys anytime. They're entertaining and with your chemistry and format, it's gonna be a hit. This was a super fun episode to watch. Cheers!!
Canadian Mist is the only bottle I've ever thrown away after a party. And I've drank warm beers with cigarette butts in them while cleaning up in the morning.
I've done that too🤢
This is absolutely hilarious guys. I couldn’t breathe at multiple different points
Gents I have a lot going on personally with family health issues. I laughed uncontrollably throughout. Thank you!!!
Happy we could take you away for a few minutes
Looks like a new poor guesses punishment pour 😅
I’d like to see this video repeated but throw out the non bourbons and add other bottom shelf bourbons. Great video! Thanks for taking one (9) for the team.
Yeah bourbon guys don’t like Rye whiskey .. part of me is like .. ah, okay 😂. But still some truly horrible rye choices so I still can’t fault the reaction
I used to drink copious amounts of Canadian Mist in college and thought it was pretty good. For some reason I can’t remember I had it again recently and almost puked it was so bad.
Not surprised the Evan Williams Black Label did well. It’s very good for cheap bourbon.
Well done. EW BIB is the only one of this group i ever still buy, so I'm really glad it came out on top.
Same. Although the Jim Beam could qualify if the BiB isn’t available.
I use to drink Jim Beam daily, a handle for $30 would last me a couple days. I liked it a little bit better than Evan Williams and could barely tell a difference from Jack Daniels. Would never get a hangover off it drinking it straight, got the withdrawals quitting though.
This is the most entertaining blind test ever! And still educational, thank you both!
When I managed a lq store we had a customer that used to stuff Canadian Mist between his fender and washer fluid to hide it from his wife. So yeah that's who is buying Mist.
the most tasting notes ever from Dan on that Dickel drinking, pond water, elephant pooping whiskey
...and in the Sahara no less...where all elephants go to drink bad whisky
Watching this now and paused to comment because Sean just killed me with "1. I'm not f*cking drinking that!" I'm dead.
I haven't laughed this hard at any RUclips video in a long time! Fabulous idea and execution.
Any video on how you constructed that beautiful whisky shelf? It is an amazing work of art!
I'm still not sure how I was able to slam back Canadian Mist straight from the bottle back in the day
"Like a Clarin rum"
As a rum fan, this excites me lmao. The funk isn't for everyone, but it's fun stuff if you get a palate for it.
Laughed out loud watching you guys go through the 10. Great job. Your adjectives for descriptions are off the charts!
I’m having difficulty find where the hotel is that is being used for the 2023 Pours in the Park. Bought 2 tickets and need to get a room. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Awesome video, as always :) sometimes the audio starts to distort and clip - you can easily prevent this, if you gainstage it to -18db (safe gain), and make it louder in post. Also a compression would help a lot, so the quiet audio and loud peaks are more balanced. sorry guys, im an audio producer, just thought i leave some tips regarding that topic :) cheers
I've got an older bottle of ten high clearly labeled as 49 neutral grain 51 percent bourbon. Not sure if they changed the label or what's in the bottle
I'm surprised that Benchmark wasn't included in your comparison. Y'all did go through some funny stuff!
It would’ve placed 1st or 2nd imo-I call Benchmark “The Irish Whiskey of Bourbons”😊
Benchmark Solis cheaper bourbon
Seagam's 7 is what they use at the local Renaissance Faire for cocktails. It's good blended and you wouldn't want to use expensive whiskey for it.
In the era before vodka was even known 7 and 7 was the gateway booze
This is one of the most entertaining episodes since your FREEDOM episode, of which I watched several times.
When you’re son wakes up at 3AM and you have to rock with him, you turn on the channel and start laughing hysterically
Great episode. Laughed my ass off. My cheapest is jack daniels and makers mark.
I've been buying Evan Williams Black for years. Just switched to White label. Great for mixing, in coffee, or on ice!
You guys just gave me the next tasting idea I have for my colleagues. I work as a liquor consultant at a Binny's and I kind of want to buy the bottom shelf and (minus the EW and Beam) just for the fun of it all.
Then Carstairs for the win !
Jim Beam was my staple during my drinking days. I always got a clean finish and it never made me sick.
Two snobby kids that think they know bourbon.
I was hauling bourbon from distilleries in Ky before they were born.
Even drank old private stock with Booker Noe from Jim Beam.
Evan Williams single barrel is my drink of choice.
grandpa chill
First video I've ever seen from you guys. Pretty impressive guy on the right could call out distillery's after a sip. Like instantly, and was right both times.
This list explains my college transcript! Good job Dan & Sean!
Thanks.
It is good. The rye is outstanding, imho. It's been back for maybe 4 or 5 years now.
I read that a guy from India bought the brand and started distilling after contracting from MGP.
I'm Canadian, and I've never heard of Canadian Mist or Canada House. Looks like we send all our crap South. Sorry about that.
I would have been shocked if Evan Williams wasn't in the top 3, and as it turns out, it's the top 2 out of 3!
It's awful.
lol your dad was cleaning his car windows with that and you decided I’m a hobo alcoholic today?
Laura Bush's reportedly famous ultimatum to her husband, "It's either Jim Beam or me," and George W. Bush chose Jim Beam over her. Damn! Should've chosen Jim Beam!
I drink Evan williams black as my cheap pull and I'm glad to get that validation in this video from real connoisseurs. Not all of us can afford expensive whiskeys on the regular so I'm glad to know I'm not in the worst ball park
Hell no, EW is great. The 86P is kinda light, but nothing off putting at all. Smells good. If you can get the EW BiB 1.75L should try some of that, esp at $28.
Evan Williams won a blind taste test among the staff at a new bar to decide the well whiskey and that event was essentially this video except alcoholic bar/restaurant staff
Damn was hoping Very Old Barton BiB would sneak in, can find it for $13 by me and is the perfect punch whiskey
That stuff is so good
I thought it would be there also. Everyday $9.99.
Evan Williams Black was my cheap go to for a while. It’s not bad, just got one dimensional after a while. Prefer WT101 for inexpensive every day bourbon.
I respect you guys for experiencing these rock gut whiskies so we don’t have to. I called the winner Evan Williams B&B👍… my go to mixer.
You guys should clean your palette with Everclear or Golden Grain in between the tastings
I appreciate the pain you went through to provide this amazing content. 😂
my dad's coworker legit LOVED canadian mist. treated him to a bottle & he could barely even drink it.
You guys are absolutely hilarious - you had me crying! The way you guys feed off each other is perfect. Keep the content coming!
Canadian Mist was my father's daily drinker growing up! No wonder I became a beer drinker!!!!!
