I've never been a fan of the Old no. 7 but I bought a bottle of the single-barrel barrel proof for $66 with tax a few days ago and holy shit. Worth every penny.
@@BoozeandNewswithTimandDut I had never tried the SBBP before and I struggled to find the banana on the bottle I've got but found it on the finish. It's a big blast of sweet brown sugar, baking spice, and a hint of a charred flavor that makes me think the charcoal filtering is coming through. It's fantastic. I feel like the banana note is more prominent on the lower-proof offerings like the SBS.
I have looked down on Old No 7 for a long time, but recently I was at a really lame bar and it was the best option they had and I didn't hate it. It was much better than I remembered from being younger.
@@lonewanderer3603 I don't know. I generally like bold whiskies (probably why I like the SBBP) and Old no. 7 just doesn't do it for me. I wouldn't be opposed to a drink of it if somebody offered it to me but I would just go without if that was my only option at a bar.
Congrats to Jack for somehow finding a way to grow their target consumer. This era of Jack Daniel’s could be forever revered as one of the greatest eras of Tennessee Whiskey history if they keep this up.
Was literally thinking about how much I love Jack Daniel's special releases and as I search "Bourbon Junkies" I see this video. Thanks for the content boys
Been waiting on these kind of rankings thanks. High west or barrel next please, also next time if it’s easy enough keep a small bottle of it while you are discussing it at the bottom. I had to keep rewinding to remember which bottle you were talking about.
I hated both the bonded and triple mash when they first came out. Just neck pours though. Came back to them a year later to give them another go, still didn’t like the bonded but absolutely love the triple mash. Enough I went out and bought 2 more on sale.
I really like these distillery tours, TJ. There is something special about sipping a whiskey while watching you walk through them and share the knowledge. Great job! Please keep these videos coming.
What would really change up the top bottles is the JDSB Barrel Proof Rye. It's amazing. If Jack makes good and maintains it's quality and makes it as available as the normal SBBP it will be the greatest available BP Rye on the market.
I picked up a 10 & 12, haven't cracked them yet. Wasn't looking for them, knew nothing about them, but they were offered to me ($62 ea) when I was picking up some allocated.
I hear you. No7 is just the regular only good for mixing rally but I guess if you want the collection it's good to have. Also for when you have company.
Picked up a Single Barrel Select Store Pick just the day before this video dropped and it is phenomenal. I normally do not like Jack, but that bottle and the SIB Barrel Proof I had a while back are incredible
Felt like I was right there with you. Started this video with a JD Gentleman Jack (had a mini to get rid of) and finished with some Single Barrel Barrel Proof (126).
Based on watching this, and having 2 weeks off work, I snuck the purchase of a few bottles of whiskey. One of them was the Single Barrel Select based on this (although slightly on memory from this video. The higher the proof, the better the Jack helped!). It drinks damn fine, but it really is very banana forward! (and I think it was barely $40 in WA)
Great video guys! It actually helps me cuz my tastes line up with yours, so now I know I can get top JD bottle without breaking the bank. See, Single barrel/barrel strength is regular pricing here in So Cal, $70. Coyhill is well over $600 at the only store that still has it, 10 year is $200, and 12 year is $250. I've even seen Coyhill go for $999 at one store while they had the one bottle in stock. Trust me, Cali sucks in all ways but especially for whisky hunting.
Love Jack! Ive had all of these except No 27. Early guess watching this now is Coy Hill, JD12, JD 10 (if batch 1)and JDBP make top 4. Gentleman Jack should rank the worst. Love JD TM myself too
Fun video! I’m a year into my journey and the JD Select was my favorite when I started. Still loving it along with JDSBBP! Haven’t had any of the nicer ones yet:(
To all the people saying "It's not a bourbon because they asked not to be classified as a bourbon." Cool.... I've asked to not be called fat, but doesn't mean I'm not fat so...
I've still never had Coy Hill, but I just recently got a chance to try Jack 12yr and my god it was an experience. Without a doubt the best Jack I've ever tasted. If Coy Hill is even better than that, my lord.
I’ve had the BiB, triple mash and the SBBP. The SBBP is by far my favorite but the other two will definitely have a spot in the rotation. It’s been cheaper to buy the 375’s for the SBBP and I’ve noticed the proof tends to be higher too.
I went to the Jack Daniels distillery about 15 years ago. At that time it was in a dry county and you could not get a sample of Jack. They literally jacked with my Jack. Hopefully that isn’t the case anymore.
Visited Jack Daniels Distillery with wifey in June she loved Sinatra Select and she isn't a whiskey drinker they had 1 L bottles in White Rabbit Shop for $170🥃
I just opened a bottle of the single barrel barrel proof last night. It was pretty good, but not very easy for me to drink because of how hot it was. Any recommendations on how to make it a bit easier to sip on?
JDSBBP's need time to open up. let it sit in the glass for several minutes and also let the bottle sit for several days. your palette should adjust after the first few sips. like getting into a hot shower at first it's too hot then a few minutes later you're making it hotter
@@LeatherDaddy97 I added an ice cube and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Don’t like cold bourbon, so I had to let it sit longer. It did help a bit, but the heat remained. Weird, because my bottle of stagg is higher proof and doesn’t have near the burn.
Love you guys! You guys are awesome. Enjoy the single barrel that I can find for 50 bucks in NYC . You guys are like a real life Beavis & Butthead totally awesome.
