I've done this very blind before (with a few LMDW's thrown in as well as a honey barrel) and taking the top end ones out Gold came out on top for me. I love me some Red though, I have a bottle at home, as well as a black, SFTB, and regular. Honey barrel is the creme de la creme though. Probably the best bourbon I've ever had, although the Maker's Cellar Aged is right up there with it.
You can’t make this stuff up! The way the last two bottles free fall as soon as Dan picks up the takara red had me dying. 😂😂😂 thanks for this guys. Cheers!
Hey guys, I appreciate your blind tastings. The only issue I encounter is with barrel-strength whiskey, where adding a few drops of water can enhance the experience. Just because it comes out of the bottle at that strength doesn't necessarily mean it's the best way to enjoy it.
A friend bought me a Gold and Special Reserve as thanks for some reno work, and it was the first Blanton's I'd ever had. I couldn't believe how bleh the Special Reserve was but the Gold was phenominal. Snagged a regular to give myself the full comparison and ya, Special Reserve has a cool bottle (I dare say that green is the best color for a bottle with a horse on the top, and the Gold and the gold horse topper are the worst looking), but it was just such boring bourbon. It doesn't taste anything like regular or gold at all, blindly I'd just assume it was a different companies boubon.
We've tried original Blanton's, Barrel Strength & Blanton's Gold. They're all good & have their place. The other three are on our to-try list. Thanks for the video!
Thats cool, went to japan and got 4 bottles. I got vintage, black, red, and gold takara. Couldnt get the straight from barrel because it was cash only lol
Amazing video. I found a Blanton's STFB today for MSRP and was shocked. I obviously had to pick it up, but it's good to know that the normal Blanton's ranks as high as it does.
My takeaway here is that getting a good barrel is the most important thing because there are pretty disappointing barrels out there. My standard blantons at home was really disappointing. Maybe store picks are worth the premium? Havent had one.
My biggest thing about it, is how long have those bottles been open? at what levels? because eventually them being open and at below halfway levels will affect the juice.
Great video! Help me out. When a bottle is 1/3 full and 3+ years old…. How does it compare to a fresh crack that’s left out to breath for 30min? When does bourbon start losing its flavor?
I agree here. I love Blanton’s gold. SFTB just seems to have a different flavor profile than Blanton’s. I have had some good SFTB’s, but I hade had some mediocre ones as well. It can be a little proofy. I don’t think I have ever had a bad Blanton’s Gold.
I recently got a Blantons Gold and a Regular one back in the release here(BC) in June. The regular I think is fantastic, but the gold is super hot at first then rolls into the flavor profile. Most of my friends that had both liked the regular better as it was easier to drink in general.
Always depends on preferences. If youre looking for smooth the standard blantons is gonna be the easier drinker. Personally thats one of the reasons its not impressive to me. It has no real punch
@@LeatherDaddy97 I agree, everyone's palate is different. I still enjoy the Gold but it was a shocker as they were really different during the tasting experience. It was a good learning experience.
I love how comparing them blind puts the ridiculous pricing into perspective. I love original Blanton's at retail. Secondary pricing is what makes people haters about good whiskey.
I bought green Blanton's from a random liquor store on the Island of Santorini in Greece and it was by FAR the best Blanton's I've ever tasted. I've never been a huge fan of SFTB it's good but there are so many better barrel proof whiskeys
Barrel variation on this line must be pretty big. I have yet to try a standard Blanton's that is actually good. The best one I've tried was meh. I've never tried anything else in the lineup, but mostly because I haven't really cared to since I've never had a good experience with their standard offerings.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees! Thank you for saying permanent marker on the gold. That's so strong and what makes it not my jam! Sftb and regular is waaaaaaaaaay better!
Nice job! The Japanese releases are aged slightly longer and usually better. Also, you are missing the Japanese version of gold. There are 7 varieties of Blanton’s currently produced. Most folks miss that the Japanese gold exists also.
Normal blanton's is a solid bourbon. I don't think you can do much with it's formula to make it much better so it being at second so close to first feels right to me.
My favorite blanton's is the one that doesn't make my bank account cry 😂😂😂 which is the ordinary, o.g blanton's which in my neck of the woods it goes for $75. But the only negative thing is i have to have my local liquor store order it for me because they can't keep it in stock on the shelves.
Maybe that’s your grade from the world. A 66. Haha not me I would give you a smoove 96!❤😂. Ok now I need to add tha since now that I saw you DROP two bottles(I told myself how funny would it be if the all time flipper of bourbon bottles dumps these) and 2 second later Whammy I laughed for 5 minutes and kept backing up to see reactions. You are the bourbon junkies haha
Never have tried any blantons but gold lol, live in Ohio a state allocated liquor state and won a blantons gold before I've ever even seen a blantons myself. Still havent
Those bottles falling off the table was easily a top 5 all-time BJ moment. It's punny, but that was gold!
This is the greatest thing ever. Sean gave normal Blantons gold medal. So great!!!!
Tell me your a baller without telling me your a baller. First private jets and distillery naps and now Blanton’s blinds.
😂 we borrowed these lol. They're going back to Clines house now.
@@BourbonJunkies try not to drop them again 😂
At some point you’re gonna have to do my shoutout and drink that Smirnoff Ice 😁😁😁
You’re
@@The_Whiskey_Cartkeep fighting the good fight.
This makes a lot of sense. When the palate is warmed up regular Blantons is amazing.
Perfect timed video! Just won a Blanton’s Gold in the VA ABC lottery. Never had it and now I’m excited.

14:29 OMG! 😱 Got the feeling in my core like I was on the first drop in a roller coaster.
You can’t make this stuff up! The way the last two bottles free fall as soon as Dan picks up the takara red had me dying. 😂😂😂 thanks for this guys. Cheers!
Dan giving new meaning to a Blanton's drop. #team Matt Porter, cuz I'm sure he's going to use that in one of his videos

I literally busted out laughing when those fell over. My coworkers think I’m nuts.

Love, LOVE the OG Blanton’s. Top 3 for me.
Absolutely loved this vid. Full Stop... Now if I could just get my hands on some Gee Dee Blantons for under 3 times MSRP!
Thats cool, went to japan and got 4 bottles. I got vintage, black, red, and gold takara. Couldnt get the straight from barrel because it was cash only lol
Thank you guys for this blind. Always curious about how these other bottles compared to original Blantons
Almost had some mashed taters on your hands when that box fell!😂
Amazing video. I found a Blanton's STFB today for MSRP and was shocked. I obviously had to pick it up, but it's good to know that the normal Blanton's ranks as high as it does.
I think this speaks more to the variance of barrel to barrel products. I've had amazing blantons. And others that were just meh. Great episode guys!
Interesting, I definitely veer more towards straight from the barrel as the best on my blinds, but then again, that's the single barrel life.
Can't wait to see Cline's reaction to that box fall 🙂
Literally SMH…
@@destinationbourbonI was wondering if he'd see it... 😅

They vary a lot
My biggest thing about it, is how long have those bottles been open? at what levels? because eventually them being open and at below halfway levels will affect the juice.
“ gone, Aaron Hernandez “ 😂😂😂😂
What ricks where these bottles from? were they close at all? I was able to try SFTB and Gold the other day and I preferred gold also.
I really like regular Blantons but I do the the Gold is step up.
Great video! Help me out. When a bottle is 1/3 full and 3+ years old…. How does it compare to a fresh crack that’s left out to breath for 30min? When does bourbon start losing its flavor?
Dan trying out some new style bottle flips, dig it!
whats up with your set? did you make those shelves or can they be purchased?
curious what is the date and rick# for the blantons in 2nd place
I really liked the SFTB that I have, but I agree it didn’t come across as a BT product…it had a nutty character to it
Hi. Someone can compare blanton's gold to WT 12 yo? I loved gold as well and I thinking about buying WT 12.

That second place bottle is a bday bottle for me ! On the hunt now !
The way I gasped and laughed. That was one if the best videos ever.
I kinda wish Ancient Ancient Age were in the lineup as well. I'd be interested to see where it ended up.
Came here to say this!
Playing in .25 speed when bottles drop is epic!
I have had blantons once in a bar and it was so dang nutty.
Everything about 8:33-8:43 is perfect lol
Great video! Would’ve been interesting to see where a Blantons SP placed also!
Ergo, the regular Blanton's is the best bang for the buck... no need to 🥔 after the Gold 😀
These are great videos. When the box fell…😂😂😂😂
Been thinking about this exact topic. Good content. Thx
I got a bottle of the Gold through Ohio's bottle lottery. Only Blantons I have had it is an absolutely phenomenal bottle.
I love how comparing them blind puts the ridiculous pricing into perspective. I love original Blanton's at retail. Secondary pricing is what makes people haters about good whiskey.

I’m a little shocked about SFTB. Although I didn’t remember they didn’t care for previous bots of SFTB.

Just watched the Blanton’s Blooper 17 times. Hilarious.
Even my heart raced so bad 😅🤣🤣
I’ve had a couple and to me the SFTB is the best one
Sean's on the bottom of Dan's 69 and Dan drops bottles. Welcome to the show!
“That feels like 6”
-Sean’s best guess in months

I just about lost my mind at that one point, blood pressure is slowly returning to normal!!!
I love how regular ass Blanton's always wins for Dan
You guys left out the best one, Takara Gold ❤
You should start throwing in another bottle from a completely different distillery just to complicate things.
Cool blind! I love Blantons
Mash and Drum just did a $6k blantons. Didn’t see that one in there.
I really think they need to do a best of the year flight and add a last spot in the spot for regular Blanton’s. Just to see how far it gets.
Si, great content as always!

Thanks for the vid and confirming that blanton's isn't really worth the effort and money.
I felt seen when you said “gone forever Aaron Hernández” long live coach Kent Murphy
I watched the bottles fall like 6 times 😂
Hope I’m not the only one laughing out loud at Sean’s “oh!”
that look at 7:56 LOL

Sean, where did you buy your "I need a Kentucky Hug" shirt?

Basic Blanton's at retail is really good stuff.
Thats a big ol box of taters you have there
Is that four bottles of Blantons that's Dan's dropped now?
It would help if you posted what each bottle is and not just flash a view of them...for us less familiar with the line.
Agreed
Thanks for the content y’all. Favorite whiskeytubers for sure. Going to try and do a better job for ya with the likes and comments.
