My father has Alzheimer’s and can no longer speak to me. Love watching your vids guys. Not just for the reviews but it brings back memories of me and my dad hanging out.
This is my favorite Blanton's(Gold). The first Bourbon i've been able to taste a grape note. Over the weekend I had regular BT, then Blantons special reserve, Blantons regular, and then Gold. Gold was a step above the rest, and the bottle looks spectacular.
I just saw this on the shelf this past weekend and bought it for $159.99. I haven't tried it yet but I think I got a decent price. I've seen it for $400
I have a regular blantons, and i just submitted for a blantons store pick that i should be able to pick up in a day or two. Cant wait to try it to see if theres much difference, since they are single barrels of course. I doubt the store pick will be as good as the gold. Thats a nice score. Hopefully someday i can get the chance to aquire one, or at least have a pour. I did just get a four roses pick, oesq. Another store just did a barrel pick, out of 10 barrels, and at least 5 ppl, they were all unanimous on obsk. Cant wait for them to take delivery on that. Between the blantons and four roses vids this week, perfect timing of the vids for the bottles im getting and just got. Love the channel. Keep up the great work you guys do
Yes but our bourbon catalogue is HORRIBLE outside off the basics, i have about 40 bottles i want that are popular in America and never have been vaalibke in europe, we do get easier avalibility for buffalo trace but that is almost about it @@jasonhunt2909
With a new bottle, higher-proof bourbon, I do like to let it sit for about 10-15 minutes before sipping it. If you haven't tried Jack Daniel's Single Barrel, Barrel Proof (130 proof), it is really good! I was skeptical at first, being JD isn't usually my favorite, but this Barrel Proof is really good and was about $65.
Would love to see a video on a beginners guide to Japanese whiskeys. I've been wanting to try one since Kurt's top 5 all time list, but the ones I have available to me are so expensive I am nervous about jumping in.
You should try Taiwanese whiskies first. Any of the Kavalan Soloists are phenomenal. Most Japanese whiskies are way too light for people who like higher proof whiskies. Kavalan Soloists are all fully matured in whatever cask it's in and at cask strength.
Japanese whiskies can be pricey. May be worth trying a handful in a bar before you spring for a whole bottle. My personal favorite (right now) is the Peated Yoichi Single Malt. It's lightly peated and delicious (but not cheap).
Love the Gold more than the standard. Was lucky enough for my wife to find one in a small liquor store in Ansbach, Germany for $89 after currency exchange. I was excited and shocked that I had her check with the owner 3 times to be sure there wasn't anything lost in translation. 😂
Was able to get a bottle of this at msrp at $125 in Illinois. Not sure about opening it or just letting it stay on the shelf. Glad you guys reviewed it. I thought it might be coming since it just got released
I bought my first bottle of Blanton's two days ago and going to open it and try it tonight. I am really excited about it. I've heard nothing but good about it.
I disagree with that, however, the benchmark single barrel IMHO beats blantons. If I had a $25 buffy trace and a $65 blantons in front of me, I’d pick up the normal BT every time.
Where I live - blantons $63 very hard to find. Eagle Rare $37 fairly hard to find. Buffalo Trace $27 not too hard to find. Personally for the money ER hands down.
Great show, buddy of mine had a Blantons Gold, we did polish it off and the comparison to the regular Blantons was about the same. But, not like a few sticks 😂 but more of a bit watered down. Trentons explanation almost made me want to give my regular Blantons away lol😂😂
I was able to pick up a Gold a couple weeks ago at my local liquor store. I went in for something else, but was offered a bottle (I paid $139.99). Blanton's is my second favorite bourbon, next to WLW, and the only bourbon my wife drinks. I can't wait to crack it open and share with good people! Nice review, guys. Keep up the good work!
I have my first pour of Blantons regular last Saturday night. I thought it was good. I would place it behind Weller 107 and Eagle Rare for me. Cool thing about this story my friend/bar owner started talking about it and he gave me a small sample of the Blantons Takara Red to try. I will let you know what I think when I try
Just picked up a bottle for $139.99 Cdn so roughly $100 US at an annual (and occasionally semi-annual) special release at our government liquor stores. I actually went for two others but they were sold out before I had a chance so I picked up this along with several others, those mostly because they are rarely available here and have not tried any of them yet.
I finally obtained a Blanton's Gold and I thought its flavor profile was similar to Johnnie Walker Gold. I'm a fan of JW Gold so I was pleased with Blanton's Gold. I arrived at the store at 5:30AM and waited 4.5 hours for the Blanton's Gold! The bottle with the gold horsey is cool to look at.
great video as always. I just had a couple of pours of Jack Daniels single barrel barrel proof this past weekend. The proof was a little bitey at first, but settled down to great taste after that. I would love to see you do a video on single barrels of whatever brand you choose and talk about the differences between different bottles/barrels. Keep up the great work! TonyB
I'll take a straight from the barrel over a gold any day. the flavors are just so much more robust. I would love to try a honey barrel or level 4 char blantons
Do to some hockey related injuries? My sense of smell is not a strong.I found leaving my used glass and smelling the dried glass the next morning really stands out
My local LS just got their BT allocation and I scored my 1st bottle of Blantons for $63 out the door. Great juice! Keep in mind being SB bottles vary, don't always get the same stuff. The very first bottle of Eagle Rare I bought was unlike any bourbon I've had so it's hit & miss. Had 4 roses that was better, but glad i got the Blantons, may not get the op again, especially not the gold.
Ok. We have a couple of good days coming up. Wild Turkey then Four Roses live! Just got thru the Four Roses small batch.. so good, and Wild Turkey 101 is probably my favorite, should be fun.
The preview of the Four Roses tasting on Friday got me thinking...are you guys planning any more distillery reviews in the "Is Worth the Money" series?
I think a cool video idea would be to repeat the video you did titled “Best Buffalo Trace Alternatives” but have one person (whoever didn’t read this) evaluate all the drinks blind- the ones you recommended and the BT version and see how well the recommendations held up by ranking them
Nice episode 👍Blanton's Gold was 50 Euros in Europe before they sold it in the US too. I had a couple of bottles years ago and I like it a lot, but now that it is 150+, I don't see me buying another one.
Eagle rare with 100-105 proof would be amazing as well. I’ve been mixing it with makers mark cask strength and eh Taylor small batch to get that proof up. Mixed it with stagg jr but feel bad wasting the stagg. Maybe eagle rare mixed with benchmark full proof would be perfect?
So I just had the Blantons single barrel for the first time and absolutely loved it… but everything I’m looking at is saying 150 at the cheapest🤷🏼♂️wondering if anyone knew where to find it cheaper. I’m in southeast iowa so if anyone has any info it’s greatly appreciated. Also I don’t know if single barrel is “regular Blantons” don’t know much about them yet
Picked up a bottle of this yesterday. Grocery Store (Local) I heard had Stagg but they didn't but did have this on sale. $129.99 I grabbed it and I'm pretty excited to crack it. I get lucky in my timing a couple of times a year.
I got a bottle of Blantons gold from my local grocery store today for $117. The guy who runs the liquor department sent me a text that he got 3 cases of Blantons gold for the first time and put a bottle aside for me. I'll open it in a couple weeks when my buddy comes over who loves Blantons. Excited to try it.
@@motorcityb8551 Good. I find it holds a lot more flavor than regular blanton's. I generally have Blantons with a cigar as I find the flavors good but a bit weak on its own. The Blantons gold is a perfect sipper on its own. Is is double the cost better, no, but I'll purchase another when I get a chance at Msrp.
Guess here in Australia the original goes for like 125 here and last time i seen the gold it was 170 guess i just had to justify paying over 350 for wt unforgotten. Prices going up each year crazy times we live in.thanks for your thoughts and review guys
The distribution started in the US because of the trade war that was going on in 2018. Tarriffs were placed US exports including bourbon increasing the cost past what most in the international market was willing to pay. So they started releasing them in the US.
We wine drinkers don't have any issues w/the twirling...lol For Trenton, try twirling and leave the glass on the table, easier to control that way. I'm w/Kurt on the Blanton's thing. It's good, but I'm not chasing it or over-paying for it.
We used to get this fairly regularly In Australia. We now get it 2-3 times a year in vastly more limited numbers. The price has risen a lot over the last 18 months to the point I now longer hunt for it as their is far better bourbons available even In Australia for the price. It is now $185 AUD (which is about $125 USD) although almost impossible to find. It was only about 18 months ago is was $100 AUD
I managed to get one for $129 in December of last year after i noticed the massive price rise around the place. It will probably be the last one i get as i really like it but not for near $200
I happened to be in a Meijer near Indy today and they had one of these out for purchase. I got it for $115. I was very lucky. Have never seen one in the wild.
I love Blantons bourbon! I was very fortunate in Australia a couple of years ago to be able to get my hands on a bottle of Blantons straight from the barrel whisky. 129.6 proof, dumped on 11/4/2019 . Bit pricey but worth every cent. Uncut, unfiltered, just how the distiller intended it to be. Beautiful sweet caramel nuttiness, with clove and cinnamon spices. And a wonderful, challenging burn from the higher proof. Was at its absolute best over ice and left for between 5 and 10 minutes to breathe and allowing the ice to melt "just a tad" There are 4 different Blantons bourbons available in Australia... If you know where to look.
I just picked up my Total Wine & More lottery win, a Blanton's Barrel Select store pick. I'm focused more on my Irish at the moment, never had a Blanton's and on the fence as to whether I should rehome it.
How does MSRP vary so much? Isn't it one price from the manufacturer or does BT look at each state and go, "it will be this much for you, this much for you, and that much for you"?
My wife got this for my birthday, here in Vegas, 2023, for $200. I would not pay that much for it, but if you find it for 120-150, sure. I like it, but I had a hard time blinding it against Rare Breed, Eagle Rare, and E.H. Taylor Small Batch. Yes, in Vegas EHTSB goes for about 100. I preferred the EHTSB over this, with RB a very close 3rd.
I got one in France and I’ve been trying to trade it. JD twice barreled or 12yo were my targets but haven’t found anything yet. I’m just not a Buffalo trace fan. Their juice always come at the end in my blind tastes. 😂
@SLB Drinks Paid $100 for it. After seeing it for 200-250 everywhere else I grabbed it. Never had it before. Still unopened. Even though it was "only" $100 I wanted to punch myself in the face walking out to the car
@@williamgullett5911 I used to see Weller FP for $300-$400 all the time in Ca. It's "down" to $199 and sitting on shelves. This economy is killing the secondary market! Can't wait try some of these bottles in about 6 more months 🤣
Found Blantons to be a hair above dead average. Smooth etc..but not worth the secondary mark up. Pappy 10,12 are alright. Yamazaki 18 was on par with secondary mark up
the only bourbon i could find in tasmania was a blantons australia release only. 90 proof and my scotch drinking family loved it, came back to usa and got a bottle of blantons - wasnt so good
So interesting how Buffalo Trace distributes their products. Regular Buffalo Trace is everywhere around me, cannot find Eagle Rare, and Blantons shows up at our Safeway for $69.99 about once a week. Weller cannot be found anywhere.
Had a choice between Blanton's Gold and a Stagg Jr...both at MSRP... and chose the Stagg. The guy selling it said...."good choice". I'll try a Blanton's someday but that Stagg is phenomenal.
Won the chance to purchase Blanton's Gold in Ohio lottery for MSRP ($120), I was excited to try it, but was a lil disappointed after I did, I don't think it's worth the almost double priced from regular Blanton's for the extra 10 proof points. Would love to try a straight from the barrel version, but not sure if I'll ever get the chance. I can find normal Blanton's very regularly, but the Gold and SFTB would always be lottery picks here.
Hello! Big fan! My hubby gave me a bottle of Blanton’s Gold for my birthday. It was dumped the same date as yours. Just curious if yours is from barrel 174 too! Are we barrel buddies?

I find it amazing that it cost that much in the country where it's produced and I buy it here in Sweden for $90-95. Still pricey, but still.
You can find Blanton’s cheaper in other countries. It makes no sense.

Very nice video. I appreciate the member that donated the bottle. Very cool drinking glasses, when will they be back in stock?
Hopefully soon!
It’s such a beautiful bottle I wish it wasn’t so dang expensive! Cheers gents!
Not worth 150.00 lol. Use those funds on something better!
@@slbdrinks I’ll put it towards my wedding in July 🫠. That’s eating all my funds at the moment haha
You should have added "From the Barrel" to compare it to gold.
How do you rank Weller line up from best to worse?
For me, FP-107-12 yr-reserve
I got one in France and I’ve been trying to trade it. JD twice barreled or 12yo were my targets but haven’t found anything yet. I’m just not a Buffalo trace fan. Their juice always come at the end in my blind tastes. 😂
Is a Blantons store pick better than a regular Blantons?
I've only had one store pick, but it was wayyy better! Definitley worth the extra $10-$20 they charge for store pick.
All depends on the barrel they pick.
Looks like Trenton just woke up or was wearing a hat before the show? 🥃
Man we get lucky here in Canada 99cad (about 75usd) and I still don't really buy them often 😊
I'm going to be in the UK for a month in a couple weeks I'm hoping I can find one of the UK label bottles for my collection
I enjoy the Gold, often. There are usually one or two bottles at the house.
Found Blantons to be a hair above dead average. Smooth etc..but not worth the secondary mark up.
Pappy 10,12 are alright.
Yamazaki 18 was on par with secondary mark up
Always wanted to try the Yamazaki 18
Out of the line up gold is so good. The barrel proof is the best
My eyes keep going to Trenton’s head. Dose he wear a hat all day??? This isn’t the first time.
😂
I absolutely love my gold! I was extremely surprised with it. How do you feel it compares to Elmer?
I think it’s a bit better than ETL due to the proof.
We lucky to pick them up here for 65 dollars! Been waiting for the right day to open it!
the only bourbon i could find in tasmania was a blantons australia release only.
That is crazy
One of the BEST Bourbons I have ever tasted is Eagle Rare 10 year old. BT
Had a choice between Blanton's Gold and a Stagg Jr...both at MSRP... and chose the Stagg. The guy selling it said...."good choice". I'll try a Blanton's someday but that Stagg is phenomenal.
3:18 Trenton getting a weak pour!
You guys should take a look at whiskey acres maple syrup finish , stuff is fantastic!
Yep, not really a fair comparison going from the Gold to the “regular”. Glad you all acknowledged it :) I would love to have equal access to both. :)
However, Trenton prefers to nose it off of his drawers...LOL! I have a kid just like him!
Can we get a top $100-$150 Bourbons show, plz!?!?!?!?!
Hmmm interesting
Can't find it , whats the point?
But if you ever do!
@@slbdrinks is that an invite? Lol
Hello! Big fan! My hubby gave me a bottle of Blanton’s Gold for my birthday. It was dumped the same date as yours. Just curious if yours is from barrel 174 too! Are we barrel buddies?
Don’t know lol but will ask Trent!
@@slbdrinks Thank you so much, would love to know. Funny fact, the horsey topper on mine has no tail! We noticed it after purchase😂
Love my Blanton’s! Flying international this week. Interested to see what I can find in Duty Free. (High prices?!?)
If flying to Japan, maybe… I doubt you would find this in Europe. Let us know what you find. Good luck.
@@PorscheSpeedster-kz6nc Europe is the main place the gold and SFTB goes. Japan gets the Black and Red
Trenton’s started a new line - Blanton’s Branch Water Bourbon! 😉
