    Man I love your videos. You explain things so easily and clearly, and you even point out all the little details, like key commands, that just make the process so straightforward! Thank you Jono!

    From other lessons you’ve given us, I guessed where this was going but I didn’t know that latching on a bus channel strip automatically creates a track. Nice! Thanks, as always for your expert teaching!

    Nice new tip for those who, like me, "love" working with automation 😄 jokes aside, this will save a lot of time and frustration!

    Thanks so much for your videos! I started at Guildhall in 1998 doing classical guitar. Really wish I had switched to electronic music.

      Aha, we'll have been in the queue for coffee at the same time, I'm sure! I started working there in 1998. Thanks so much for the kind words.

    Great tutorial Jono. Created with the most sedulous care indeed 😄I seriously thought you were just going to bounce to audio and snip, but no . . . way better to have option to change send levels on aux(s) later on . Noice , I loike it!

      Thank you - I'm glad that this approach appeals! There are definitely lots of ways to achieve Hard Mute treatments and your suggestion would work well too.

    Mr. Buchanan, thank you very much! You make the best logic tutorials, so clean, no useless words! I really appreciate!
    Could you please cover the topic of using logic’s vocal chain presets? The problem is that they don’t work well if you just load them on the audio track. Maybe there are some technic how to use and customise them properly?

    • @jonobuchananmusic
      @jonobuchananmusic  11 месяцев назад

      Hi Pavel. Thanks for the kind words. I’m absolutely happy to look at vocal chains but you’ve answered your own question there… presets will rarely sound good as they don’t ‘know’ your singer, your microphone or any of the other variables, simply providing an inflexible ‘solution’ irrespective of the voice you’re working with. But the good news is that creating a vocal chain for each track you’re making is creative and fun, so I’ll happily add this topic to the list. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Didn't know about using latching on a bus channel strip to get the track. Although I would probably just right click on the channel strip and select "Create Track" which I think it quicker than setting it to latch, pressing play and moving the fader, then putting it back in Read mode. The automation should default to volume anyway for the new track

    • @jonobuchananmusic
      @jonobuchananmusic  11 месяцев назад

      Absolutely right, Jay. All depends on whether you’d prefer to create or draw Automation in real-time. Both work nicely!

    • @highestbuilding
      @highestbuilding 11 месяцев назад

      @@jonobuchananmusic I would rather use the marquee tool. I also sometimes route all my "global" FX-tracks to a bus, so that I can automate the volume with one automation lane only.

    A very interesting problem, thanks for covering it! At first I was wondering if you could Group or Stack the returns, to avoid all that repetition. I’ll have a play with that idea on my own, but of course then you’d still have to deal with the release time on that pad, and you’d still have to somehow finesse the difference in mute timing for the delay. Not as simple as it first appears!

    • @jonobuchananmusic
      @jonobuchananmusic  11 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you. Absolutely, it all depends on what you want to achieve. You certainly could group the Auxes - that would work well if you want to do the same thing to all of them at the same time. But if one sound needs one of those effects, you might be making work for yourself to have to unpick them, having been grouped. Each track will require different choices depending on the musical outcome you want to achieve but hopefully there are enough suggestions in the episode to help cover most of them. Have fun!

    Hi Jono, long time no Caesar! Sorry for being MIA - just now getting caught up on your vids. Question... I have found that when I've used volume automation for just subtle volume changes, it actually does change the volume level of my reverb, much to my frustration (and has given the desired effect in the case of hard mutes). Is it because my reverb is on the track's effects chain and not an aux, or is there some other setting I'm missing? Thanks, hope you are well! 🎵⭐🙏

    • @jonobuchananmusic
      @jonobuchananmusic  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Jennifer, great to hear from you. And welcome back! Yes, I think you’ll find the reverb level issue you’re experiencing will improve if you move your reverb to an Auxiliary Bus. As the volume increases, the reverb level will, proportionately, too but that volume relationship should feel natural. Let me know if not.

    Word of the day : fastidious. Thanks Jono. Assume you could have hit create tracks on the mixer to get the aux tracks into the tracks section too. Much of a muchness really I suppose, your method has the advantage of getting that automation in there. Just to confirm, did you create the regions, just so you could put the 2 automation points there is a fastidious manner (see what I did there :) ) , really quickly. Logic is cool, loads of different ways to do things.

    • @jonobuchananmusic
      @jonobuchananmusic  11 месяцев назад +2

      Hi John. Absolutely - word of the week! Yes, creating the regions on those Aux tracks provides useful anchor points for the Automation points. These are then more easily moveable and copy-able, as they’re tied to a region.
